#compeltely different from all the other ones

My apologies, what I meant is that most of your languages are made for fantastic, fantasy worlds, as opposed to a fictional culture on Earth. If you're creating a language for a culture set on Earth, you'd probably incorporate features that tie it to a real language, am I correct?
I think you still may be misunderstanding what the key questions are and how they factor into language creation. There are two questions:
Is this language supposed to be descended from an existing language (or set of languages) on Earth?
Is this language spoken by creatures that are identical to humans in all the ways that play a crucial role in language use, comprehensijon, and transmission?
These are the only relevant questions. Notice I didn't say anything about where the languages are spoken. That bit is irrelevant. Language has its own geography and it's the only geography that matters when it comes to a posteriori language construction.
For example, looking at Dothraki, the answer to (1) is no, and the answer to (2) is yes. For that reason, Dothraki should be a language that looks entirely ordinary, in terms of how it stacks up with languages spoken currently on Earth, but its vocabulary and grammar shouldn't be directly related to any language on the planet. How could it be, if our planet doesn't exist in that universe? But since Dothraki are completely ordinary human beings their language should be a compeltely ordinary human language.
If you look at the aliens District 9, the answers to both (1) and (2) are no, despite the fact that the movie takes place in South Africa. And, in fact, you see some very interesting linguistic phenomena in that movie, where you have two species that understand but cannot use each other's languages. Its setting, though, doesn't mean that the alien language should be influenced by Afrikaans in any important way, though. It may have "borrowings", but even those would be strange (calques, most likely), since the aliens can't actually make human sounds—the same way the humans wouldn't have "borrowings" from the alien language.
On the other hand, if you look at Trigedasleng, the answers to both (1) and (2) are yes. But the suggestion you seem to be making is that I might kind of haphazardly "borrow" features from an existing language into a language that I'm nevertheless creating from scratch. That wouldn't make sense. Trigedasleng is simply an evolved form of American English with some specific constraints (some quite unrealistic, due to the scifi setting) placed on the evolution. I didn't "incorporate" features from American English: it IS American English, through and through, evolved in a way that makes sense for the setting.
There are certainly a posteriori conlangs where the creator approaches the creation of the language by saying, "I took the initial consonant mutation of Irish and combined it with the triconsonantal root system of Arabic and added the Turkish plural suffix (with vowel harmony) and added the accusative from Esperanto", and the like. This is one of the hallmarks of an amateur conlanger. Not even a creole language in the real world does this. Creole languages draw influences from many different languages, but the resulting system can't be divided up neatly into different linguistic sources. Furthermore, the result is a coherent system that doesn't look like any of the sources. Tok Pisin gets a lot of its vocabulary and grammar from English, but also gets vocabulary from German and other languages that were native to the region. When listening to the language, though, it's not like it sounds like English, then it suddenly sounds like German for a word, then it sounds like a Papuan language, then back to English: the whole thing sounds like Tok Pisin. It's a seamless, coherent system—just like any language, since all languages on Earth have borrowings and features from other languages.
Also, minor nitpick: "real" language doesn't make sense. We say natural language vs. constructed languages. Both are equally real, in that neither has any kind of material existence. A constructed language is a real language with a fake history.
Does this make sense?

if you feel stuck
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
intro
at some point, we may sometimes feel stuck when manifesting our desires. it sucks right bae?💔😞maybe we feel like giving up, or it wouldn't work for some reason. even after others succeed. maybe there is loss of hope. but the world is yours, remember? are you going to stay stuck and complain, or do you truly want your desires that you'd finally change yourself?
why we feel stuck
it sucks right? to read all these success stories and only wish to be the one writing them? to have tried all the techniques you seen on youtube, tiktok, tumblr, twitter, you name it. and still, you've been stuck in same place, same circumstances. only dreaming about your dream life. you're still the same, you didn't change yourself. you remained in square one because you didn't move. do you want it or not? do you have it or not? why are you complaining all day? who stopped you from getting what you want? who gives it to you in the first place? yourself.
how to get unstuck
before you continue, i need to remind you that it's no use to read through this post and then keep scrolling on tumblr without applying the law. because you'll just be trapped in the cycle. no matter how many posts you read, you aren't getting anywhere without applying.
Tumblr media
work on self concept
the first thing you can do is to simply work on your self concept. why is self concept important? well self concept is the way you view yourself in the world. changing self concept changes you and everything about you. it changes what's around you. how you look, your abilities in manifesting, the way you're treated, etc. is self concept necessary? well no, you can manifest without doing it but self concept is very helpful to many. i'll make a self concept challenge soon but changing self concept is very easy. just become the desired version of yourself. you also do this by affirming self concept affirmations. you can also use different methods like visualising or sats but methods are optional of course.
take a break
another thing you could do is take short break from manifesting. sometimes we may experience burnout or feel exhausted and it's okay because wer're humans. so taking a break from manifesitng and taking your mind off of these worries can ease stress to help manifesting. but be sure to pick yourself back up afterwards and keep going.
keep persisting
sometimes our manifestation is right in front of us. we're so close and there is no reason to give up. perhaps it could happen if we just persisted for one more minute, so maybe you just need to keep going a little longer because it's working even if you don't quite expect it.
stop overconsuming, apply
seriously, take a moment to reflect on yourself. are you really applying? or are you just scrolling on tumblr again? did you really apply? did you actually even try or do you just affrim 5 times, check 3d, and read another blog post. overthink the law, get discouraged, complain about 3d. like stop right there, that isn't helping you. you should be applying, not reading all this stuff that you already know.
restart
i do not recommend doing this just because usually it would cause you to restart over and over again and repeat the cycle. however, if you've really been "manifesting" something for a long time and seeing nothing, then it may be time to compeltely restart. either revise it, or learn from the past mistake, and from now on apply the law. like actually apply. and do what works for you of course.
Tumblr media
ending notes
remember that you create reality. it's the law of assumption. you're the only one who can change circumstance and you must make that decision. so take accountability, be disciplined, and reflect on yourself. don't look for success story for boost of dopamine. motivation don't help you until you truly apply. you must do before you feel motivated. applying comes before motivation. discipline is more important than motivation. ask yourself if you're applying, remind yourself you are limitless. all you gotta change is you 🤍

Toji’s Two Legacies
I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but Gege likes to draw parallels between Maki and Toji. You might not have caught on, he’s extremely subtle about it. However, despite having  the same backstory as the outcast of the Zenin Clan, and the same Heavenly Restriction, Maki only reflects one aspect of Toji.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maki herself only became aware of Toji after seeing one aspect of him. During the fight against Dagon, Toji suddenly breaks into the Domain and in front of the scattered members of the Zenin Clan and absolutely slaughters the curse spirit that was givnig them all trouble. Maki has no idea who Toji is even, he is just someone who appeared in front of her and showed her a strength with her heavenly restriction that she had never seen before.
Her only impression of him was him as a fighter, stronger than anyone she had ever seen before, apparently, free of everything that was holding Maki back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In her desire to be like him and emulate him, Maki only really understands that he is an extremely powerful individual who can defeat others even without cursed energy. In a mini-arc where Maki is apparently, not seeing something important, and learning to see more, there is something that we the readers know that Maki is not privvy to.
Toji is a complete and utter failure of a human being.
Toji, the strongest monkey even without cursed energy, only cared about the strength to the point of neglecting everything else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toji only cared about proving his stnregth, getting stronger, and crushing the same socery world that rejected him. To the point where Toji’s life is entirely empty. He has nothing, but his strength. Toji while alive, didn’t act that much different from his flesh puppet zombie that only attacked everything that was stronger than it. All he did was fight for money, blow the money at the race track, with no thought to how he brutalized others, or the people he left behind.
Which is why I point out, there’s another side of Toji’s personality that Maki is completely unaware of. It’s not good to be like Toji.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toji’s decision, to neglect everything and only focus on getting stronger, made him abandon Megumi his one “blessing” the one person he loved truly. At the end of Toji’s life, he may have climbed the heights of one of the strongest human being, but he died empty and full of regret, only thinking of how he left behind Meugmi. Toji was strong, but that’s all he was. He had no connections to anybody, except Megumi, and he cut Megumi off.
Maki might not have any way of knowing better, but, Toji is still a terrible example for her to follow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Choosing the path of strength, to the point where there is nothing else. While Maki saw Toji completely tear apart Dagon, there was also a side of Toji that only Megumi witnessed. Maki only sees Toji’s strength, but Megumi is treated to a different side of his father.
It makes sense, Megumi is the victim of TOji’s abandonment and abusive neglect as a parent. I doubt Megumi would even care that his father was one of the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerers, because he compeltely failed him in his duty of a father.
Tumblr media
However, for Toji, ther ewas something even more important than strength. Something he should have focused on instead. And Megumi is only able to see that one small sacrifice in a moment of refret for how he lived his life. They’ve both seen different parts of Toji and were impacted in different ways (I expect at some point Megumi will learn who Toji is as he didn’t recognize him face to face in person), and I wonder if this stark difference in the way they both interpret Toji is going to lead to different paths for their character development.
Tumblr media
Part of me worries the overemphasis on strength, is because Maki has nothing else left. Toji still had Meumi in his dying moments, but Maki lives, without amother, and without Mai. She hasn’t materialized any other goal, other than bearing her fangs, and challening the strongest around.

KAT SO LIKE BASICALLY ill explain to u the characters :3 so usually in tmnt, if u had to summarize the tmnt in one word it would be raph: hot-head, mikey: goofball, donnie: nerd, and leo: leader. its been that way since the first comics in 1984 and its stayed that way w little to no variation until 2018. this isnt to say that they were one-dimensional, and they definitely weren't the same as their previous counterparts since every iteration has a different backstory and context so the characters are different too! you could always tell they came from the same place, though.
then, in 2018, rise of the tmnt came out, and changed EVERYTHING about what we previously knew abt the turtles, their dynamics, and how they worked as a team. not only were they physically all different species now, but they had different personalities and roles on the team. raph was the oldest (leo usually is) and subsequently the leader, and was really just a big teddy bear when hes 'supposed' to be angry, aggressive, and a loner. mikey was still a goofball but in a comedic show, theres no need for a comedic relief, so that wasnt his role anymore. now hes taken on a more emotional role as well as being depicted more as an artist. donnie is still a nerd but has the biggest ego EVER and probably secretly wants to blow up the entire planet just to see if he can. leo is NOT the leader, and actually makes for a pretty bad one- he's lazy and self confident where leos are usually the most driven and anxious.
put on paper, this sounds awful. its one thing to try new things but this is basically just deviating from everything the characters and franchise once were w no remorse. a lot of long time tmnt fans ignored and even hated on rottmnt when it first came out because of this, BUT!!!! i think its a really great adaptation in terms of what it did to the franchise.
firstly, the tmnt were still Themselves, just differently. raph may be compeltely different in the sense that he cant be alone (and has an entire episode where hes left alone and literally goes crazy, when usually hes the one ditching the team to do his own thing lol) and doesnt get in fights w his brothers that often, but he still has the typical 'punch first, think later' mentality and he Does get angry when he needs to. mikeys probably the most faithful to previous mikeys in the franchise, but he can stick up for himself better and feels a lot more meaningful then other mikeys. donnies the same but if u crank the arrogance up about 50x, because while in the past when tmnt was created, computer nerds were considered kinda weirdos, now if you were good w code or engineering its pretty sick, and the writers took that change into account. leo may be lazy and self centered, but he Knows his brothers inside and out and is subtly the voice of reason on their missions.
essentially what rottmnt did was strip them to their core and build them back up. raph isnt usually the oldest, but this is what would happen to him if he was. leo isnt usually not in the lead, and this is how he would develop without that burden on his shoulders. etc. and its genuinely a testament to the writers that despite them being so different, they still fundamentally feel like raph, mikey, donnie and leo. its something that tmnt as a franchise really needed imo, because its been going on for so long that its easy for new iterations to fall into archetypes; how they "should" act according to the generalizations these characters have built up over the decades. rottmnt was like a reset and a breath of fresh air that i personally think tmnt really needed for the future. yeah! :3
ya know what this is brilliant and you're so right. like I mean your take is definitely perfection but the writers changing them the way they did also brilliant because you're right they do still feel like the same characters at the core of it but the new take helps to keep the entire franchise new. that's actually so cool. oh my gosh thank you for sharing aaaa

Sending you the ball back (seishin)
When I started shipping it if I did:
Day one — well day one of me playing DDC. Since I had a few years (late middle school + high school) where I wasn't following Touhou canon anymore and it came out during those times, I found out about them when I caught up to all the canon I missed circa 2015. But I had managed to not get a single thing about them spoiled somehow so the experience was the same.
My thoughts:
I love them so so much but you all know that. But specifically out of all the Touhou ships I feel like this is the one that's the most "contained?" Like they actually have a complete story arc that starts with DDC, then ISC, and "ends" with their conversation in Grimoire of Usami. If I wanted to explain most TH ships to someone who isn't in the fandom, I would have to pull out a diagram and hundreds of small details and worldbuilding bits to get it to make sense, but for these two there's a cohesive "trilogy" that contains a whole love story with onscreen character arcs and a satisfying "epilogue". Because of that I feel like this is a very special ship, it really stands out from the other pairings in that regard…
Things done in fanworks that annoy me:
I think people think I'm joking when I say I'm an unironic Seija apologist, but I genuinely dislike the framing of Shinmyoumaru as a helpless victim. I do think there's no real victim, that they mutually used each other awkwardly, but if it HAS to be a contest of who has it worse… What Seija did to Shin was: invent a bunch of overinflated bullshit to push Shin over the edge of joining a cause that she already half-agreed with without the lies. What Shin did to Seija was: weaponize her weakness to throw her under the bus as the main perpetrator AND not back down from that narrative EVEN AFTER a DEAD OR ALIVE MANHUNT was called on Seija. I feel like out of these two betrayals there is one that is way harder to forgive and it's not Seija's! They're both brilliant manipulators in totally different ways and it's one of the reasons they fit so well in the first place aaaaahhhhhhhhhh. I prefer fanworks that are more morally gray but if I'm to be compeltely honest I also want to see a more villainous Shin to compensate for all the fanworks that smooth her edges so much!
Things I look for in fanworks:
One of the big charm points of this ship for me is the Bonnie & Clyde dynamic, the partner in criming, so I can't get enough of fanworks of them working well together and being in sync. I like fanart where they look kind of cool, serious and competent, I find it very romantic in a way.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
Because of DDC being such a self-contained complete story like I said earlier there's not a lot of material of them interacting with the rest of the world… I love love love Sei/Shin/Reimu and Sei/Shin/Marisa because it has interesting power dynamics but it needs to be a throuple because as soon as you take Seija or Shinmyoumaru out I'm not interested.
Thought I like the idea of Shin going for other women during their time apart. Because I have a loving jealousy tropes too much problem. And I'm interested in Seija having to face insecurities. In that regard I'm into the Shin/Tenshi dynamic in AoCF. Because I think a Tenshi VS Seija rivalry could get very ugly (positive). But once again this is still with a SeiShin lens…
My prefered future/ending for them:
I want them to have big dramatic adventures. I do think they can change some of the unfair things in Gensokyo if they get over themselves first. It's also the kind of ship where I appreciate a tragic ending and a tragic death but I haven't found the fanwork that would hit this the right way for me yet :3
What is their favorite activity together:
Planning adventures. I picture Shin as the kind of person who can spend hours talking about projects, travels, shady businesses, things she wants to try someday. And she enjoys doing SOME of these things but coming up with the ideas counts as part of the fun. And paradoxically to the fact that her whole thing is playing with negatives, I feel like Seija would be a good Yes Man for those situations because the way she always twists and criticizes everything could be pretty stimulating to bounce ideas off. I'm getting frustrated because there's no english equivalent to "faire des plans sur la comète" and "refaire le monde" but I can totally see them spending a night on a high peak in Gensokyo, pointing to locations they want to travel the next day and bantering all night while mapping out the whole itinerary, then waking up in the morning and going the opposite direction of where they had planned.
A fic I’d like to write about them/A sentence from one already in my WIPs:
(not a prose line cause this fic is in its rough 1st draft state a but a scene placeholder that I like) "Seija goes to sleep holding one of Shin's robes next to her head to make sure she dreams of her."

i was tagged by @artemiss-moonchild and @heartcravings in two different spotify-centric tag games - so i'll just morph them~ i am also high on finishing a book right now, so yeah, it's gonna be long and full of words i have to vomit out now because my brain is buzzing xDD
shuffle your ‘on repeat’ playlist and post the first 10 tracks,
Brand New City by Mitski ~ probably my favourite song of hers, i feel all of her music and lyrics very very much but this song...just hits different i dunno, i guess it is the closest thing i have to describe this restlessness i get sometimes
blue by keshi ~ every single word in this songs gets me and i am kinda giddy bc i bought tickets to his concert as a christmas present for my sister and me, hehe, i'm looking forward to that already ^^
Where We by Ryu Ji Hyun & Kim Kyung Hee ~ part of the OST of the drama Rain Or Shine / Just Between Lovers, it's on netflix, lee gangdu is my poor little meow-meow, i cried buckets and got wayyy more invested in this drama than i anticipated xD
I Don't Even Mind by Chen ~ it's my favourite track of his 3rd album, i like how his voice blends with the instrumental, i love how his voice is so clear, how it kinda floats over the tumbles of the guitar, it's like fog over a little creek
I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace ~ i stumbled over that one by chance not even a month ago, i knew the band existed and what their sound was like but never listened to their songs, so that one is the only one i know and what can i say...a girl feels conflicting feelings sometimes xD
Nothin' by EXO-SC / Chanyeol ~ i am really fascinated by this song because it has so many layers of sound, there is just so much going on on that track, like it sounds calm and spherical and like you are floating through a dark night, but you are driven by an invisible force, by thoughts and voices and echos. this song makes me fearless, it lifts me up when i am on the ground, it grounds me when my head tries desperately to fly away from my body, it was my no. 1 song in my spotify wrapped xD
Charmer by Stray Kids ~ ok this one is less deep xD it's just a cool, very vibey song, it really got me back into Stray Kids this year and wow it seems very unreal rn that Oddinary was a 2022 release o_o
Lithium by Nirvana ~ a classic, some would say. i can play it on the electric guitar so that's cool 👀✨️ to me this song is probably even more "nirvana" as Smells Like Teen Spirit - i dunno it captured their sound really well and i might sound very pretentious now but it is such a Kurt song, i don't know how to descibe it differently xDD
Words as Weapons by Seether ~ and sometimes a girl feels a very stubborn anger against the world and some people who have deep cuts. listening to this song is cathartic.
Universe by EXO ~ doesn't your heart just open up when they sing "I'll search the universe..."?? because to me it always feels like that, like something bright is opening up my heart, ready to search along with them (it's the way the melody just keeps rising, flying across the nightsky on that long high note)
then list 10 songs you really like, each by a different artist.
New Thing by Zico feat. Homies ~ this song... is just really, really cool. so cool. ahh. i love listening to it, it's always over way too soon xD
saudade, saudade by Maro ~ my Eurovision favourite this year, haha, their whole stage presence was so whimsical, they remained my favorites from start to finish. i just listened to the song a lot afterwards. the soft desperation in it is just everything, really.
505 by Arctic Monkeys ~ screaming crying throwing up about everything in this song. the musical built up, the breakdown, the lyrics - just ahhh everything about this song makes me go feral, especially the breakdown. i think i rarely show as much of myself to other people as i do when 505 comes on and i'm screaming "but i crumble compeltely when you cry"
Slump by Stray Kids ~ sad bop in three languages, made by the one and only Han Jisung who gave the sinking feeling you get when you realize you are somehow falling behind depsite your best efforts a sound. musical genius (but also are u ok bro?). anyway, i can do all the rap parts (in english because i am a chicken when it comes to korean let alone japanese and i really don't want to mispronounce stuff) in this song and i don't think it sounds cringy when i do it so that's what i've been up to musically these days xDD
RED by Survive Said The Prophet ~ the lyrics in this one are so great! it has such a raw power once it breaks loose, it reminds me of thunderstorms and a stadium full of people not minding the rain because the live music is just so good and everything fits, lights flashing and bass guitar and drums messing with your gut. it's full of so many different feelings that you sometimes can't tell apart but they make you want to move and run and run until your body hurts more than your heart.
Star Walkin' by Lil Nas X ~ this song is also so full of energy but a totally different kind. it's stellar, it's bright, it's almost delirious, it's testing out how fast you can run before you fall over your own feet, it's chasing the feeling of your stomach dropping when you go a little too high on the swings. it sounds really weird, but my first instinct when this song comes on is not to blink, not one second, because i could miss something at this racing pace. the verses are just floating in space, looking around, taking it all in, whereas the chorus is pure acceleration until the point where there is no more "faster", feeling it might hit anytime now but it just doesn't xD
Forgive Me by BoA ~ it's her recent comeback and i've never really gave her music a listen but i saw the teaser pics being absolutely my vibe so i checked it out and really liked it! there is nothing more to it haha. it reminds me a little of what i also would have loved to see Seulgi do on her solo album but it's not that big - both harmonize perfectly with their respective tracks.
Hurdle by Suho ~ he made theeeeee summer bop with this song, really. gosh, the way i freaked when i first heard this song xDD i took little notes about the Grey Suit album in my notebook back then so i know for a fact i was immediately obsessed with the funky bass line and the voice distortion and how dancable this song is.
Serenity by Xiumin ~ i've said it before and i'll say it again: this song is an early spring sunrise, when you woke up oddly early snd you go outside to catch the first glimpses of sunlight and the dew still hanging on the grass wets the hem of your pants, tickles your skin, the cold wetness seeping through your shoes but then the first rays of light hit your skin and the air is fresh and clear and everything feels better and new, like you have healed a little, like you can keep going with a new burst of energy now. this is how this song sounds like to me, i get that mental image everytime, dark greens and bright blues and even brighter white and yellow hues.
Checkmate by TheBoyz ~ again nothing all to deep besides the fact that this song is a total banger and i just go insaneeee over the whispering and member who-ever-it-is saying "you're never satisfied". my sister likes TheBoyz and she played it once or twice and that's how i know this song xD
list the first 10 songs played from my spotify wrapped/apple replay when shuffled!
Francis Forever by Mitski ~ this one somehow very quietly became my chanyeol-enlistment-song. it's all about missing someone, needing someone/depending on someone's presence, not in a full on desperate way (a little desperate maybe-) but in a way that is just like what the first lines say "I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do with myself now that your not here" kinda like you still need time to figure out how to handle things in the absence of something that has been very present before. it really got to me while Chanyeol was away (yk sorta-away because you really cannot get that man off a stage xD but the feeling has always been different than before) - in the end i think it's a lot about adapting after a change in the way somebody is present in your life.
Daechwita by Agust D ~ i am not the biggest BTS fan on the plant (thank god) but i have a sort of soft spot for their rap line because they simply are really good at what they do, especially yoongi. and daechwita, what can i say, simply a total vibe. i remember how i had this song and Lay's Lit right after on repeat a lot that year, they somehow belong to the same universe xDD Daechwita is all about speed and power and hot rage, Lit is all albout precision and force and a very cold attitude of supremacy - both have this very untouchable and dangerous vibe. they are neighboring kingdoms maybe, very peaceful with each other btw. they just come to destroy them haters xD
Raining by Chanyeol ~ this song it just a biiig loong sigh. it's taking a deep breath and exhaling loudly. the dark heavy piano really is like black paint in an artwork, it really gives the song that heavy atmosphere. then the sax soli are almost complaining, it's whining, it's telling you its story of misery with the heaviest sighs. this also reflects in Chanyeol's vocals, he also has this hint of exhaustion there, this song is just so dramatically done with everything, it just yk wants to have a drink and end this unfortunate day xD on some days i think this might be the best song of the The Box OST because they caught this very moody atmosphere so so well and it's not often done like that in populat music, i suppose (look i probably sound like i know what i am talking about but i really do not- xD)
GOTTASADAE by BewhY ~ again, nothing deep. my bestie sent me the song and was like "!!!! here listen !!!" and i was like "omg!!!!!!!" and then it was on repeat xDD
This Is How I Disappear by My Chemical Romance ~ so here is the thing, i knew about them for a long time but i never had this kind of "emo phase" in my teenage years but when they had their revival tour or whatever this year a lot of people i follow online suddenly were obsessing over them again, and when i like people a lot and they get invested in something, then i want to check that out too. so i listened to their entire discography in one weekend (coincidentally, the exact weekend they played in germany xDD) and This Is How I Disappear was the winner of the little favourite MCR song race i had in my head xD so yeah, i dig their music, especially this song. once again, very cathartic to listen/dance/sing to.
Snow (Hey Oh) by Red Hot Chili Peppers ~ i really like that i got this one on random! because it's the first RHCP song i actively remember hearing, probably in the radio and i was just really obsessed with it (in a way a child can be obsessed with a song it doesn't understand xD) and that just kind of lingered around and i eventually looked up the chords so i could play it on the guitar when i was 13 i think, leading to my dad showing my Californiacation and Under The Bridge and that's when i got more and more into their music in general. another weird fun fact: because i practiced the lyrics very hard back then i can now recite them in absolute inhuman speed, everytime i do it it annoys people to no end but i think it's fun xD
Shutdown by Moonbyul feat. Seori ~ (un)official sapphic anthem, let's gooo. this song is so so sexy in a very soft and casual and relaxed way. i love how their voices harmonize, i love how the melody flows, how you're just drawn into the song from start to finish. this song it somebody touching you very softly, very gently at your most secret, sensitive places. this song is knowing how to have the exact same effect on the other. it's dancing together with the smallest most minimal moves, bodies pressing impossibly close together. i just get this warm, seductive, soft, comfy, sexy feeling from this song.
Free Fall by Øzi ~ i am ascending every time i listen to this song, really. the chorus comes in like the ground beneath your feet rumbling and breaking apart, falling through the cracks. which might sound like a contradiction to what i said in the phrase before. but falling and flying are very easily confused when it's dark and you can't see the bottom. one of my favourite love letter songs <3
Tire Swing by Kimya Dawson ~ the simplicity of this song is so charming, really. it's nothing big, the melody sounds like a children's song but the lyrics tell the tale of the complicated matter that is really liking someone who is just so different from you that it's actually kinda impossible for things to work out well, at least not with anyone hurt. it's part of the soundtrack for the movie Juno (which i really like) and while the teenage romance is only a secondary part of the plot, i think this song was an amazing pick to explain the relationship between these two teenagers that lead very different lives and have to figure out how loving each other works. it's such an easy song and then again it is absolutely not.
Nothing Else Matters by Metallica ~ my dad once told me that metal musicians make the best love songs and then showed me Nothing Else Matteds as proof and, really, i could only believe him after that. i think, this song has had a huge huge influence on what i expect from a romantic relationship. it really shaped my understanding of romantic love to the point where i said (at 13 or 14) in my diary that if i ever got married it would be to this song, and i am still kind of in awe with this thought because that song remains to be very significant to me. how it's about always being together in a way, about sincerity of feelings, about trust, about getting to know the other better day by day and at some point getting to know yourself better through the other, how it's about sharing things openly, about living a life together, about having a companion like that who shows you the world you thought you knew in another light. it's about the enrichment you experience by having a romantic partner, that goes beyong anything sexual which is so often immediately associated with romantic love. and that just really left a lasting impression on me, so it's a fave ever since.
ok. this was long. and very uncalled for lol i am sorry for oversharing like that sometimes i'm just really in touch with how exactly music makes me feel and maybe i'm a little sloppy and a little too much in writing long paragraphs about it oops- ^^'
anywayyy i tag @kafkascupcake @byuns-coco @his-mochi-cheeks @cxsmicmyeon @nvwu @joon-rkive @simplypearing @xuoux @whisperingdoves if you guys wanna (feel free to pick the part you wanna do or simply ignore this tho, i am fully aware that this is a lot of time consuming text, so i won't mind at all xDD)

I hate being an adult. I hate even more when I have to be the Asshole, but you know what? Sometimes, people suck. And if they don’t want a bad referral on their public reviewing platform, maybe they should’ve done a better job to begin with.
We just had half our windows replaced, by the same company who replaced the first half, and the ones who put vinyl siding on the house some years ago. The first two jobs they were fantastic.
This last one, I am fully prepared to choke a bitch out. They assured us multiple times that after telling us they had different companies they were subtracting to that while they didn’t have the exact shade of the older windows, they had a very close one that would be almost imperceptible. Fine, none of the windows share a room, so a minimal difference shouldn’t be that bad. Two guys came to install the windows while I was home and my parents were on a long overdue vacation. At first, things seemed fine. I had to work from home so I wasn’t watching them the whole time, but they got the windows installed at the old ones removed and seemed to clean up as they went, but after they left, I went arounnt to inspect all the windows.
One doesn’t even fucking open. They left pieces of the old windows everywhere outside, including huge metal pieces on the roof where I couldn’t reach. The screens don’t come out. The framing in is the cheapest looking shit I have ever seen, with caulking just smeared everywhere like this was seventh grade shop class and your only experience was an eight second YouTube tutorial you watched once a year ago. The caps on the outside are the compeltely wrong color, smashed to hell where they attempted to nail them in, cut incorrectly, and the windows themselves are the wrong color.
If it was like a $5000 job, I would be understanding, because that’s the shit that happens when you hire sub par contractors who don’t care about quality and that’s refelcted in the price.
For $17,000, I am fucking livid. So I said as much on their business page, with essentially what could be summarized as “if you want crap work, pay a crap price with someone else. At least then you’ll get what you paid for. Crap work at a premium price? We’ll never do work with them again, and already contacted our friends that we had recommended them to to warn them away.”
They called us back and asked us to take down the review, as it’s harmful to their business. After like five minutes of talking to my mother, who is a saint, she simply hands the phone to me. My mother and I have almost identical voices. We know this, because we have blind friends who can’t tell us apart, and literally anyone who calls us and reaches me starts immediately talking like I’m my mother.
Imagine their surprise when my mother went from “Well, we’d really like to sort something out where you can repair what you got wrong” to “Listen here, shitbird. You want a fucking glowing review? I’ll write every fucking thing you did wrong. I’ll include the pictures I took from the mess your guys made, the colors you fucked up, the dents, the tears, the absolute goddamn shit fuck you assholes left behind. I’ll include your email responses, highlighted to show it was your fucking CEO who admitted to sending a goddamn color blind motherfucker to pick out colors to match, and switched the colors between the windows and the trim caps. Your amateur contractors who made an almost 20k job look like a kindergartner’s finger painting exercise, and I will also include your sound byte of asking us to remove an unfavorable review so you can fleece other people, and we’ll see who doesn’t have a fucking company by the end of the year. Tell you what - you want a favorable review? You come and do the job we fucking paid you for.
They’re coming Tuesday to fix it.

What do you mean with "no one will understand him 100%"? Like...ever? Or us as normal human beings?
That's (unfortunately) the nature of battling with mental health issues (and I don't say this in a mean way or say you should stop supporting people who fight with this stuff - quite the contrary: the need all the love and support, because that shit makes you feel very lonely).
But as long as you haven't experienced depression or panic attacks or PTBS or things like that, you may have an idea what a person is going through, but you will never fully (100%) understand it. (Exceptions apply, of course, to medically trained personnel)
Most of that stuff seems pretty irrational to people from the outside and is hard to grasp since it's not visible (besides some symtoms). But for the person who battles it it's reality and feels really real.
(and yes, we also know, it's irrational, but we hardly can do anything against it - takes a lot of time, healing and help)
Let's give you some examples.
You may see the world in colours and positive - a person with depression sees it in black-white and always only the worst and comes up with all kind of catastrophic thoughts.
You may think "being a little bit anxious" is not that bad - but a person with a panic attack may think in that moment they actually die or have a heart attack or suffocate or going to faint any second.
You may think a certain sound is compeltely harmless - but it can be the biggest trigger for a person with PTSD and cause flashbacks and other symptomps, making them re-live their trauma again.
...
(please note that this can HIGHLY different and depends on the person - these are just examples)

i really wish i could share my heavily curated morrowind install
like yes in addition to the mods i’ve made that are on the nexus i’ve also taken a ton of mods and like, cludged them together in weird ways. my balmora is like 6 balmora mods i forced to work together. all my towns are like that. i’ve tweaked like every value by hand that no one else has tweaked to make sure everything feels Just Right. i’m at over like 500+ mods.
one of my partners compares it to my ham radio and it really is. morrowind is, there isn’t a canon “install” you use, the entire point of playing morrowind is customizing and making an utterly bespoke experience and every morrowind install should feel compeltely different from every other
i wouldn’t even recommEND my morrowind install because it’s curated specifically to someone who’s been playing it for 20 years because there’s nothing better still, and who needs it to feel new and fresh and breathtaking 20 years later because oh my fucking GOD THERE’S NOTHING BETTER STILL

man, people complain about their friends being backstabbers or not good people or shit like that and it's a wonder because I have never once had that. I think people forget that you curate your own audience online and in real life.
Surpsingly this isn't a vent. I've have been feeling so bad, proabbly from just a stomach bug I relaize now, and yet Monday I made plans with my friends to watch Megan which is a movie they were looking forward to seieng very much. I feel so nauseous even when I went to Walmart to get more bombpops so I would have something to eat so I canceled the plans because that just sounds like a horrible time for me. And the two of them (the third I live with) were compeltely and totally okay with it and just wished for me to feel better.
like. that's very nice and how everyone should be even if they're disappointed (idk if they are super disappointed. they didn't voice it but yeyeyyeyeye).
meanwhile my cousin has so many people she talks to and one that she no longer does (thay I know of. I don't really care either way) that she would bring everywhere and they were joined at the hip for at least a few years. And all of them have had some type of drama or fight or something with her or other people she was friends with and I guess it's just two different groups seeing as she had been partying and drinking and do all that crazy shit since she was younger than I am but I don't see too much of an appeal of keeping that company.
Like I cam understand the type of people and the vibes and all that of wanting to do excited stuff and there being always something wild going on to talk about or do but if they're constantly gonna talk shit or do shitty things why? There are plenty of people out there that just aren't like that and can be just as good company. different but good.
And like the high school drama I have just overheard of the "friends" where its just one thing after another and then someone's upset or the posts online about constant betrayal within friends. Like you curated that. you chose to talk and associate with those people and there's absolutly no way you didn't see this coming or at the very least guess seeing as you know the person.
Obviously I don't know others positions and just talking as an outsider but it's still wild to me.
I'm lucky I never really got those types of friends or anything like that and the ones I have had over the years either ended just naturally or haven't and theyre all fairly good people all in all.
I guess you jsut attract like minded people usually and I can imagine doing anything like that to anyone but also I'm a pretty boring person. Hell New years eve all 4 of us were together and had totally legal substances and yet one was passed out before 11 (he passes out at like 9 every day. I'm surprised he stayed awake that long) and when I walked back in the door after dropping my brother back off just before midnight and was ready to start drinking, they were relaxing on the couches and just watching a show waiting for the ball drop livestream to come back on.
Very relaxed and chilled out and defnetly what I would've been doing but also, damn we are boring. it would be fun to actaully party yet I know I would end up hating it.
anyways yeah just thinking thoughts and that I'm glad no one at the very least voiced that they were disappointed and they just wished me to feel better soon.
hell even the boy I broke up with was super cool about it and everything. my friends significant other that the both of them were super mushy lovey dovey was a passive aggressive dick after they decided to break it up. sent lyrics to a song and shit. idk the full details but like mine said that it's okay and he just wants me to be happy.

in my dream there were 2 internet friends from compeltely different spheres of area & they were playing co-op dark souls, but it was like...splitscreen pvp & dark souls was a pixel 2d platformer . i was there on the couch, but it was this couch we’d sold ages ago bc it was too old, just kind of like “wait a minute how do you two know each other” & one of them kept getting killed so he was shrinking.
then my friend sanya who i have not really spoken to since like halfway through highschool invited me to play “super knockoff terraria” with her. it was like if terraria had 300% zoom and also looked like a diffferent game. there were mammoths. the mammoths were 5 or 6 times my size, and they were like decorations or something? they couldn’t move idk
when i looked up from “definitely not terraria” i was in this dark clown-themed cafeteria. dark as in it was cloudy otuside and none of the indoor lights were on, and all the windows were half shaded and high up the walls anyway. there was someone at the door. i squinted

Jouno and Tecchou: Not so Black and White
In chapter 100 Tecchou was not only shown to care about Jouno, who he's the most prone to fighting, but also he makes a completely naive statement about Jouno the most corrupt of all corrupt cops. Here's why this statement might in fact be right, and why it's important to look at them as a duo as they parallel both SKK and SSKK.
Tumblr media
Jouno and Tecchou from the beginning are introduced to us as complete opposites, Tecchou is the strongest in terms of fighting ability but doesn't think for himself and is military minded. Jouno is blind, but has far more insight into what other people are thinking than any of the sighted characters and is clever and ruthless. Remind you of anyone?
It makes sense the hunting dogs would feature a version of souoku on the roster, as the group as a whole is framed as a darker version of the detective agency, forcing the law with complete ruthlessness and only caring about punishing crimminals without finding the truth.
Tumblr media
Jouno and Teruko right from the start are arguing with each other for the same reason that Chuuya and Dazai argue, Tecchou is the stronger of the two but compeltely subservient and doesn't think for himself. Jouno on the other hand is shown to have a much higher intelligence, which translates into him toying with his enemies, and giving Tecchou ruthless commands, like how he goes out of his way to mentally break Kunikida, while at the same time ordering tecchou to target the doctor, the only healer of the group.
Theyalso both meet members of Soukoku, Jouno is the one sent to arrest Dazai, whereas it's Chuuya who shows up to protect the agency from Tecchou's sword and even ends up facing off against him for a little bit.
Tumblr media
They even engage in a bet which is a direct parallel to the bet Chuuya and Dazai have in Chuuya and Dazai at fifteen. Whoever solves the mystery first, is the strongest of the hunting dogs. However, just like Soukoku the point of their relationship isn't for one to dominate over the other, but for both of them to be equals.
Tumblr media
Jouno cannot work alone, because he always goes too far in abusing his position of a police man to torment crimminals. This is something Jouno admits even later on, his role as a police man gives him permission to do whatever he wants with crimminals. He'll push far beyond any limit, and society will allow him too because they see him in the right.
Tumblr media
Which is why he needs Tecchou, who is the only one who bothers to make any attempt to keep Jouno in check. Tecchou's flaw, his complete and utter obedience to both the military command and inability to think for himself lets him combat Jouno's weakness. Because, Tecchou is always thinking of others, he's the only one on the hunting dogs so far who demonstrates any care for those who get in the way of the hunting dogs hunt. He essentially holds the leash on Jouno, and holds him back.
Because, Jouno doesn't care about other people, he's good at reading them but he doesn't care about their interiority and feelings at all. He doesn't care about the reasons the man they're questioning might want to protect Lucy Maud Montgomery, he just knows this man is getting in the way and will do anything, and terrify him in any way to achieve his objective of protecting the innocent by defeating crimminals.
Jouno is the Dazai of the relationship, because he entirely cares more about ideals than people. He just picks a different ideal than Dazai. Dazai's ideal is Oda's, help as many people as you can, if you don't care either way right or wrong, then just keep helping people. Jouno experiences a similiar moment to Dazai, he's a retired crimminal also like Dazai, and he's almost completely amoral, he has no internal sense of right and wrong to guide him and he's super low empathy.
Ironic because Jouno can read people by reading their heartbeats, which gives him a deeper insight into whether people are telling the truth or lying, and yet because of his lack of care for their internal motivators he doesn't quite read them right. After all, he tries to invite Kunikida to the Hunting Dogs, because despite being able to read some of Kunikida's hidden thoughts like his doubts on his ideals he misses out on the fact he would never betray his friends.
Tumblr media
His ultimate lack of caring for people's inner worlds is probably displayed by his treatment of Kunikida, who he respects and actually wants to join the stray dogs, but also goes out of his way to torment at every single turn, even blowing both of his hands off and mocking him on his hospital bed. Ironic, because Kunikida and Jouno share the same ideals, they're both obsessed with a version of justice, that revolves around punishing crimminals, and upholding the law, believing that the law is what keeps innocent people protected.
Jouno is just Kunikida's, and the detective agency's as a whole ideas about justice taken to a darker extent. Jouno doesn't really care if the law is right or wrong he just needs to follow some law. Jouno doesn't believe it's his job to know if it's right or wrong to punish the people he's sent after, he just performs his job as a hunting dog.
Tumblr media
Jouno who used to be a crimminal, now finds his place to belong, and a job, in tormenting crimminals, by saying it's for public good. Jouno may be self aware enough to know that this isn't the right thing to do, but he thinks because society's laws allow it, then there's no reason to challenge it. Jouno is almost a perverted extreme of idealism, he doesn't care who's justice he's enforcing, as long as he keeps getting to do his job, and he's hunting someone.
The conflict between two pairs of Soukoku and Shinsoukoku can really be summarized as a fight between ideals and people. Dazai, and Atsushi are both characters who care about ideals more than people. Not that they don't care about people, Atsushi and Dazai have people in their lives who they cherish. However, Dazai will manipulate anyone including his friends, he'll mistreat people like Akutagawa, all in the name of following Oda's vague instructions to save others. Atsushi too, doesn't save other people for completely altruistic reasons. He saves people because he's traumatized, because the orphanage beat into his head that if he doesn't save people, he has no right to exist. Atsushi only cares about saving complete strangers, but he'll neglect the feelings of someone close to him. The same way Jouno doesn't care for the interiority of crimminals, Atsushi doesn't understand people like Akutagawa. It's Atsushi's lack of understanding for Akutagawa and his complete and utter demonizing of him, that leads to him going Huh??? Why would Akutagawa ever sacrifice himself for me?? When they both lose the fight against the commander. He can't view Akutagawa as a person because he can't view himself as a person. He's got issues man.
I belabor that point because, on the other side you have the characters that are more people oriented. Chuuya is a slave to his organization, because he genuinely cares about all the members involved and wants to use those powers to protect people. Tecchou is the most obedient of the Hunting Dogs. Akutagawa does what he does over and over again to earn Dazai's praise, and his redeeming qualities is how he treats Higuchi and learning to be better to those underneath and around him.
What makes Soukoku work as a relationship is that despite how much Dazai uses Chuuya, Chuuya trusts in Dazai absolutely, even years after him leaving the mafia. It's why Atsushi and Akutagawa often come off younger and inexperienced compared to them, because Atsushi can't bring himself to trust Akutagawa so they often compete more times than they cooperate.
Jouno and Tecchou however, are a fully realized pair. Tecchou is someone who cares about the ideals and interiority of other people so much he's the only one of the hutning dogs who will step in to stop Jouno when he pushes things too far.
This meddling is something Jouno benefits from in therelationship, because even though Jouno seems to be the one most likely to turn evil of all the hunting dogs, he doesn't turn. Kamui invites him to join the hunting dogs precisely because of his sadistic nature.
Tumblr media
Jouno's sadism is a genuine part of his characer, but it's just one side of him. As amoral as Jouno seems he's also honest about ideals, he punishes crimminals because he believes it helps him protect innocent civilians, and he cares more about the innocent civilians than the punishment he deals out. He has no qualms about hurting other people, but he won't agree to a plan like Kamui's innocent people can be hurt, and he's the second hunting dog to turn on him.
This is where Jouno's role is important, because who do you think Jouno learned his ideas of protecting other people from? The same way Jouno will choose the idea of protecting other people over punishing crimminals, because of the time spent in the hunting dogs. It is also the time spent in the hunting dogs together that makes Tecchou place rescuing Jouno, over his absolute blind obedience to justice.
Tumblr media
Their connection is something that allows each of them to grow. While Kamui saw the absolute worst in Jouno, believing because he's an ex crimminal with violent tendencies he would be the easiest to convert to the side of the hunting dogs, it's Tecchou's belief in the goodness of Jouno that allows him to care for something more than just causing pain to people.
"Everyone misunderstands, Jouno. Jouno is cold, but in his core, he is a hero that despises violence and protects the weak."

tbh gachas and the balance between whales and non-whales is fascinating to me. I’ve been a little reading on it lately
you want whales to spend money, but in order for them to do that, there needs to be a benefit. aka, spending money makes them powerful.
However: a whale isn’t going to feel powerful against another whale. Whats the point of shelling out cash if they just as strong as the next guy? You need f2p players, minnow, and dolphins too. You need A LOT of them so that whales mostly encounter those folk and not just other whales all the time.
You need to make a healthy ecosystem in your game for your whales.
That starts with your f2p players. The f2p players need to be happy. because if they leave, so do the minnows, so do the dolphins, and so do the whales.
so f2p need to be able to do well too. f2p will never be good as a whale unless they have the most insane luck in the world, but they can save their magia stones and roll on what they like/what is good, and they can perform well.
if we use magireco as an example, this game is very f2p friendly. you can use whatever character you want to beat the base content-- ex-challenges and such will be hard if you don’t prioritize your savings, but everything is accessible to you. My main alt account can do anything it wants at this point and I’ve never spent any money on it. So that means f2p should be happy in this game, and so there is a draw for them.
Next up you have your minnows, who are people who might buy the monthly pack deal and that’s it. honestly the difference between a minnow and a f2p is kind of minor in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still important because they are food for the dolphins. A minnow is probably going to have better units than a f2p, maybe more slots, just by virute of spending money.
A dolphin might buy the occasional deals. They might throw money at a banner, but they’re not a true whale. the monetary amount of what defines a dolphin depends on where you are tbh-- for example, on na I’d say a dolphin spends maybe 20 a month on the game. on jp it’d be higher than that.
man I’m not gonna go step by step actually-- the point is, dolphins are the feast for the whales. Whales want to be powerful, but power is boring if everyone is an ant. You need players who are good but not as good as you so that you can have a true power fantasy.
i have been awake for 25 hours. why am i talking???? I’m gonna wake up eventually and this will all be incomprehenshible or even worse, compeltely wrong and i will be screenshotted and ratio’d.
anyways, gacha money stuff depends on a delicate ecosystem. one way you can tell a game is failing is if either the f2p all leave or the whales start to leave.
f2p can’t be made to feel like they don’t matter, which is also why back-to-back limited banners are a problem (and constant newly released overpowered units). a unit from a year ago should still be good now, because that’s what a f2p is going to be working with. if old units are constantly powercrept, then f2p stuffer and aren’t going to play anymore.
but whales need a reason to buy things without it just being new stuff. so how to make new units good without making them total powercreep nonsense is hard.
magireco is doing a good job imo with it right now. I mentioned it two posts ago, but a lot of the new limiteds are based around kimochi/high tier content while being “eh” for anything else.
Isabeau is the fucking GOAT, need-to-have unit for kimochi, but she’s worse than vampire kanagi for everything else. that’s good. whales will want her to do well, but f2p don’t NEED her. (edit: also oriko exists and fills a similar niche)
kuroe is the best mp battery for dark units ever, but she suffers on non-dark-focused-teams. that means madoka and mikage have an edge on her for other content. that’s good. f2p don’t suffer if they only have madoka or mikage. (edit: also kako exists and can fill a similar-ish niche)
if akumura-chan is really going to be a ranked beast, it’ll still be okay, probably in the grand scheme of things. lots of units are still good for ranked that can be relied on, and even if she’s at the top, her average gameplay outside of ranked will suck so f2p don’t NEED her.
does any of this make sense. i need some coffee. fuck sleeping. i must type nonsense instead

Sorry for parroting myself but I think I’d feel better for this to have its own post instead of hijacking someone else.
I saw a lot of opinions on Raya and the last dragon’s ‘Dragon’ and while I agree with a lot of their points. I also troubled by some of them. so this post is going to be for both sharing my own opinion and sharing some Info on Southeast Asia (mainly Thai) myth creatures.
1. Okay first of Yeah, the Elsa face kinda very suck. Glad we can agree on that. She looks extremely similar, even her color paletter look similar (more so in the concept art). Her dragon form face doesn’t seem to compeltely mash up with her human for either. Her human form doesn’t look like Elsa. Her dragon form look a lot younger than her human form. I don’t really like human anthropomorphic face but I can live with it if it is different from just Elsa.Make her older look like her human form or something.
2. Fur! Frankly I both have problem and not have problem with this. or to be more precise; I don’t have problem with her fur. SEA Dragon tend to based off of fured mammal like Wolf and deer and horse so some fur can be expected. I do however have problem with her mane
When I first saw the design. I don’t recognize her as SEA dragon but Eastern Dragon. A lot of my irl friend and co-workers agreed on this. Eastern dragon has a lot more exposure in the media. We see them in something like Haku and Avatar
Tumblr media
This is what Eastern Kirin and Dragon looks like. Their manes are usually their most distint feature
Tumblr media
Vesus what SEA Myth Creatures usually look like
Tumblr media
The problem is that me and my co-worker related the creature in the trailer more to traditional Eastern dragons more than SEA creature and for the story that promote itself tobe influence from SEA culture it’s kinda disapointing. It’s like we’re so excited seeing all these details in the costume and the background it’s all recognizable and then we see the dragon and went “Eh?”
Also I knew that in SEA there’s a lot of Infuence from East Asia culture too. Especially for Vietnamese and Singapore. but like I said Eastern dragon got a lot more exposure so I just thought it’d be nice to see something like Naga and Hayra represent more.
3. “She looks like My little pony/ Unicorn!” It’s probably because The dragon’s inspired by Kirin too which is essentially Asian Unicorn. Kirin are also East Asia Creature but we do have some varient in SEA too
Tumblr media
the fact that she’s inspried from Kirin and then being called dragon is another whole can of worm though
4. “She look too minimal, her concept art design look much better” Unpopular Opinion but I don’t agree with this one. I actually prefer the final design for its minimalistic approach. The concept art as too much going on that it doesn’t highlight the SEA most distinct feature; the crown horn and the tail. In the minimal design as much as it doesn’t look like SEA creature, atleast the minimal of it let me see the tail and the horn clearly enough to relate to one

Hate to bring up HTTYD and the light fury up here but It’s similar to how her final design vs her concept art as well. I really like her concept art design much more than the final one and would love to see it on some other dragons but for the main lead of the movie I think they’re right to go for the minimal aproach with the clear silihoute so I respect the final design to be the right decision. That what I think is best for the lead anywell, easy and recognizable. The more detail and complex design suit more for side dragons like Nadders or Skrill.

TLDR; My issue with the designs are the Elsa face and the fact that she looked more like Eastern creature than Southeast Asian Creature. despite taking a lot of inspration from SEA culture.
All in all though, I am still excited by this movie and love all the other stuff I’ve seen. Just slightly which the dragon design could have been better
To end this off I also would like to take this opportunity to share some of the SEA myth creature under the read more!
First; Naga! The most popular of the bunch. We can see them everywhere in the old architecture. They’re more of a Big snake than a dragon!

Then Hayra, the one I think look the most similar to what we got. I heard some call them dragon, wasn’t sure if they are.

Then there’s Naga-eater. Which is actually a Dragon. They usually in the statue together with Naga head popping out of their mouth to make it look like a legged Naga. I wasn’t sure if they’re the same as Hayra, some say they are.

Lastly, The Kirin, which I have already mentioned/showned
