#storie #storieefoto #regiamarina #regiaaeronautica #aeronautica #airforce #italia #anr #cant #z501 #idrovolante #boat #history #ww2 #worldwar #worldwar2 #warthunder #fligh #flightsimulator #hunter #crash #africa #gabbiano #seagull https://www.instagram.com/p/B-AW5VnHv8z/?igshid=10nnsce3g79ww

Consolidated P2Y-1C NC2102 (msn 1) by Batman_60 Via Flickr: Although 21 US Navy P2Y-1s were modified to P2Y-2 standard with the engines faired into the upper wing leading edge, this one was not so modified, and was sold as the sole P2Y-1C to Colombia on December 31, 1932 where it served until 1948 reportedly at least for a time with Escuadrón 101 de Transporte. It is also said to have been used as a bomber in the Colombia-Peru War in 1932–1933. The similar P2Y-1J was sold to Japan in 1935. This often seen image, available both on the US Navy site and Wikipedia, is captioned on the latter as "An unidentified Consolidated P2Y (s/n 2101) in flight. This may be the Consolidated "HXC" or "Navy Experimental Type C Flying Boat" produced for Japan. Note the blimp on the right." It has been suggested that it is "...the single P2Y-1C NC2101. This one was exported to Colombia late 1932..." The registration NC2101 was in fact given to two very different aircraft, a Stinson SB-1 Detroiter and a Granville R-2. Although this aircraft appears to have what could easily be seen as a Japanese red circle, the numbers "2102" (no NC) are seen on the tail. Since the P2Y-1C was reportedly registered NC2102, despite the apparent Japanese marking the numbers are quite clearly legible, so I have to assume that both the Wiki author and the source of the other comment made a typo in calling it 2101, even though they disagree on destination countries.
