2.Malacanang of the North
Also known as Malacanan Ti Amianan in Ilocano language. This mansion used to be the official residence of ex-Prseident Ferdinand Marcos in Ilocos. You will see a fantastic view of Paoay Lake at the veranda at the back.

Malacañang ti Amianan, as the locals call it, is a birthday gift from the then first lady Imelda Marcos to her husband’s 60th birthday. It is among the properties of the family that was sequestered by the Philippine Government when President Marcos was removed from power. After 20 years under the care of the government, it was finally given back to the care of the Provincial Government in Ilocos Norte. In January 1, 2011, after restorations and renovations by the Governor, it was opened to the public as a museum.
3.Paoay Lake
As you go to the northwestern Luzon in the Philippines you will see the Paoay Lake. It is the largest lake in the province of Ilocos Norte and one of the largest natural lakes in the area.

Paoay Lake, locally known as Dacquel a Danum in Ilokano, "Big Water”, is a lake in the municipality of Paoay in northwestern Luzonin the Philippines. It is the largest lake in the province of Ilocos Norte and one of the largest natural lakes in the area.
Historically known as Lago de Nanguyudan, the lake supposedly was the site of a prosperous barangay called San Juan de Sahagún Saint John of Sahagún that sank after an earthquake.
4.Vigan, Ilocos Sur

Vigan located on the western coast of the large island of Luzon, facing the South China Sea, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in that it is one of the few towns left in the Philippines whose old structures have mostly remained intact, and it is well known for its settpavements and a unique architecture of the Philippine colonial era which fuses Native Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial Spanish architecture that is still abundant in the area, mainly the Bahay na Bato houses and an Earthquake Baroque church. Former Philippine president Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines, was born in Vigan, at the former location of the Provincial Jail (his father was a warden); he resided in the Syquia Mansion. The entire city of Vigan was later inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage City after being declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a member of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC).
In May 2015, Vigan City was officially recognized as one of the New7Wonders Cities together with Beirut, Doha, Durban, Havana, Kuala Lumpur and La Paz. New7Wonders Foundation president and founding member Bernard Weber led a ceremony held at St. Paul Cathedral where he handed a bronze plaque to Vigan Mayor Eva Grace Singson-Medina, signifying the heritage city’s election as one of the world’s wonder cities.

The Paoay Church (also known as the St. Augustine Church ) is a historical church located in the town of Paoay in Ilocos Norte, Philippines.Construction of the Paoay Church was started by the Augustinian friars in 1694. It was completed in 1894 led by Fr. Antonio Estavillo and was re-dedicated in 1894.A three-storey coral stone bell tower stands to the right of the church which served as an observation post in 1896 for the Katipuneros during the Philippine revolution against the Spaniards, and again by the Filipino guerillas during the Japanese occupation in World War II.The Church is a unique combination of Gothic, Baroque and Oriental designs. Its facade reveals Gothic affinity, its gables show Chinese elements, while the niches topping the walls suggest Javanese influence (reminiscent of the famous Boroboudur Temple).

Beijing ‘Birds Nest’
Sport event infrastructure has improved significantly overtime. Yes beautiful stadiums have been created from the beginning of mankind like the Colluseum in Rome, however new infrastructure continues to enhance due to the emerging new technologies that are introduced annually. 
Many sporting structure are quite spectacular however the stadium that is embedded deepest inside my head for design is Beijings ‘Birds Nest’. The 2008 Olympic Games are my first memory of the ocular that is the Olympic Games. These games represented the development throughout China due to “Urban transformation” (Beijing Olympic, 2008). 
The 2008 Olympic Games have been accused of being the catalyst for unique stadium construction for sporting events. According to Hays, 2022 the Chinese government spent a whopping $43 billion dollars on the planning, materials, resources and construction of the infrastructure. 
The venue that would host the opening ceremony quickly became the image of the 2008 Olympic Games and was fast to be associated with the nickname the “birds nest”. This spectacular track and field venue holds up to 91,000 spectators at a given time, doing so numerous times during the games. A bowl like shape creates a truly unique and energetic atmosphere, designed carefully to ensure spectators had the best seat possible feeling close to the athletes competing.

ARUP, Architecture Chinese National Stadium
Whilst the stadium was being designed factors like the location, angle of the sun, natural light, ventilations, roof strucutre, light pollution and light towers were used to create the most optimal design possible. According to Rogers et al in 2018 the geometry of the bowl of the stadium and the airflow were used in designing the steel nest structure. 
Olympic hosts tend to focus on creating stadiums and not the practicality of them or the location in which they are present. Previous hosts had built entire Olympic villages and stadiums as far out of the reach of the public as possible where as the Chinese government wanted the games to be as accessible as possible. This sore the stadium be placed on the outskirts of the city where the city planned to extend to in the future. Beijing updated their public transport ligns investing $20 billion into transport and traffic management projects.
The Chinese government put their people first when implementing crucial decisions into planning the Infastrucutre. This sore the development of health care systems and medical services which had $1 billion spent on enhancing the services and accessibility. China and inparticular Beijing hadn’t been renowned for quality health care so when health infastructures and technologies were advanced the Chinese people were ecstatic.

Fair Forest The potential lack of fairness in the outputs of machine learning algorithms has recently gained attention both within the research community as well as in society more broadly. Surprisingly, there is no prior work developing tree-induction algorithms for building fair decision trees or fair random forests. These methods have widespread popularity as they are one of the few to be simultaneously interpretable, non-linear, and easy-to-use. In this paper we develop, to our knowledge, the first technique for the induction of fair decision trees. We show that our ‘Fair Forest’ retains the benefits of the tree-based approach, while providing both greater accuracy and fairness than other alternatives, for both ‘group fairness’ and ‘individual fairness.” We also introduce new measures for fairness which are able to handle multinomial and continues attributes as well as regression problems, as opposed to binary attributes and labels only. Finally, we demonstrate a new, more robust evaluation procedure for algorithms that considers the dataset in its entirety rather than only a specific protected attribute. … Extreme View Synthesis We present Extreme View Synthesis, a solution for novel view extrapolation when the number of input images is small. Occlusions and depth uncertainty, in this context, are two of the most pressing issues, and worsen as the degree of extrapolation increases. State-of-the-art methods approach this problem by leveraging explicit geometric constraints, or learned priors. Our key insight is that only by modeling both depth uncertainty and image priors can the extreme cases be solved. We first generate a depth probability volume for the novel view and synthesize an estimate of the sought image. Then, we use learned priors combined with depth uncertainty, to refine it. Our method is the first to show visually pleasing results for baseline magnifications of up to 30X. … Heuristics Allied with Distant Supervision (HAnDS) Fine-grained Entity Recognition (FgER) is the task of detecting and classifying entity mentions to a large set of types spanning diverse domains such as biomedical, finance and sports. We observe that when the type set spans several domains, detection of entity mention becomes a limitation for supervised learning models. The primary reason being lack of dataset where entity boundaries are properly annotated while covering a large spectrum of entity types. Our work directly addresses this issue. We propose Heuristics Allied with Distant Supervision (HAnDS) framework to automatically construct a quality dataset suitable for the FgER task. HAnDS framework exploits the high interlink among Wikipedia and Freebase in a pipelined manner, reducing annotation errors introduced by naively using distant supervision approach. Using HAnDS framework, we create two datasets, one suitable for building FgER systems recognizing up to 118 entity types based on the FIGER type hierarchy and another for up to 1115 entity types based on the TypeNet hierarchy. Our extensive empirical experimentation warrants the quality of the generated datasets. Along with this, we also provide a manually annotated dataset for benchmarking FgER systems. … Generalized Strucutral Causal Model (GSCM) Structural causal models are a popular tool to describe causal relations in systems in many fields such as economy, the social sciences, and biology. In this work, we show that these models are not flexible enough in general to give a complete causal representation of equilibrium states in dynamical systems that do not have a unique stable equilibrium independent of initial conditions. We prove that our proposed generalized structural causal models do capture the essential causal semantics that characterize these systems. We illustrate the power and flexibility of this extension on a dynamical system corresponding to a basic enzymatic reaction. GC-Rich Gene Synthesis
Gene synthesis is the technology of artificially synthesizing double-stranded DNA in vitro, and is a crucially important technique in molecular biology. Conventional gene synthesis generally involves assembling small segments of DNA and/or amplifying known samples of genetic material, and requires the raw nucleobases guanine, cytosine, adenine, thymine and uracil as starting materials. GC-content (guanine-cytosine content) refers to the proportion of two nitrogenous bases, guanine and cytosine, in DNA and RNA molecules, which might be any domain of a gene, single gene, gene clusters, or even non-coding regions. Synthesis of high GC-content sequences can be troublesome due to issues with secondary structure, mispriming, or mis-annealing. GC-rich regions tend to facilitate base stacking, which makes them more stable than sequences with low GC-content. Additionally, secondary structures formed by high GC-content regions also tend to be stable and more resilient to denaturation. Sequences containing many guanine repeats can also generate complicated inter-strand folding due to hydrogen bonds between adjacent guanines. GC-content is closely related to temperature optimization in gene synthesis. In PCR, primer GC ratio strongly influences the predicted annealing temperature of DNA templates. High GC-content tends to require a high melting temperature, which can result in mispriming or mis-annealing between the template and its complementary strand, leading to undesired and inaccurate gene products. Even when GC-rich sequences or G repeats are located in noncoding regions, the secondary strucutres formed can still affect factors in gene synthesis, such as melting temperature. Thus, an important part of gene synthesis is codon optimization, using synonymous codons to lower the GC-content of a sequence and lowering the melting temperature. The successful synthesis of GC-rich constructs is important to fully understand and study complex genes and even their non-coding segments with high conservation, which in turn poses profound significance in biomedical research.
