Dark woods layout
Tumblr media
This more eclectic styled living room features dark wood floors with little variation in tone, which allows patterns in the furniture to be more varied and still not compete. This gorgeous modern living room features dark hardwood flooring that simultaneously contrasts and picks up some of the more orange tones of the wood of the entertainment center and the wall-mounted television cabinet. The dark wood floors of this modestly sized but comfortable living room are covered by a natural fiber area rug that lends a nautical feel to the blue and white color pallet. This rustic dark wood living room has two large seating areas and fantastic exposed beams across the wide, tall ceilings. These smooth, polished red-toned wood floors are a more traditional width and go perfectly with the varied, curved wooden furnishings. Small natural accents, like the stump side tables, add a bit of life to the room. This much more modern living room has wide-plank wood floors stained nearly black laid on a diagonal. A light cream marble table sits on a white and beige cowhide rug. These rich dark wood floors vary very little in tone and complement the button-tufted leather sofa against the stately windows. To bridge the gap between the two colors are shades of silver and gray in the richly textured furniture. These ultra-dark wood floors are almost black and contrast beautifully with the white ceilings, built-ins, and fireplace. The planks are laid on a diagonal, which adds another dimension of visual interest. The rich red tones of this floor warm up the cream linen sofas and the light stacked stone of the enclosed fireplace. Molding details are abundant throughout this elegant room. Perhaps the most stunning part of this formal living room is the contrast between the floors and the pristine wainscoting on the walls. The soaring ceiling panels are painted a golden brown that picks up some of the varying tones of the hardwood floor far below. Light variation in tone and a beautiful wood grain add to the natural feel. These have a more dusky tone that complements the modern furniture.Ī more traditional solid hardwood floor goes perfectly with the exposed wooden ceiling and columns of this rustic great room. This open-concept living area that flows into the dining room and a galley kitchen is another great example of multi-tonal floors. This gorgeous example shows the varying tones and thin planks that pick up each tone in the cowhide rug. While many dark wood floors tend to have little variation in color, these have an almost gray and featherlike woodgrain.īamboo flooring is considered a hardwood floor, although bamboo is technically a grass. The dark wood is continued throughout the furniture. These dark hardwood floors have a rich red tone that pulls a rich wine color out of the thick fringed curtains on either side of each window. The way the exposed beams and hardwood floors flow into the room makes the space feel larger and aesthetically connected. We hope you’ll love this varied gallery of large and small living rooms as much as we do!Īn ornate southwestern style archway leads from the dining room into the living room. Some of the floors will not vary at all in tone, like in the above living room, while others will range from planks in a much lighter tone to planks in wood so dark it looks black–all within the same floor! Some will have very thin planks, while others will embrace a much more contemporary wide plank. In the above dual-sided living room, the dark hardwood floors allow the two rooms to flow together while still maintaining distinct seating areas marked by area rugs.Īs you peruse this living room gallery, watch for the different styles of hardwood floors. Even the darkest floors have a warm undertone that complements more colorful accents. This gallery features dark hardwood flooring, which is typically associated with contemporary and traditionally styled homes and favored for the contrast with a neutral color palette. This is true, and the reason why in many of the following designs you’ll see area rugs of varying sizes, colors, and styles. While hardwood is certainly beautiful and durable, one of the main complaints against it is that in the winter hardwood can be very cold to walk on. For allergy sufferers, hardwood is often the best way to relieve indoor symptoms. Carpet is by far cheaper than hardwood to install, but doesn’t last as long and is prone to holding pet stains and dander. There is a long-standing argument between supporters of carpet and hardwood. Welcome to our gallery featuring a large selection of living rooms featuring beautiful dark hardwood flooring. Check out herringbone patterns, bamboo flooring, and wide and thin planks. A gallery featuring 21 living rooms in different styles, each with a different dark hardwood floor.

Why We Love Walk-In Wardrobes, Plus 20 Must-See Examples!
Waste of home space? We think not.
Tumblr media
It’s the dream of every fashionable homeowner to have a walk-in wardrobe in his/her bedroom. But with square footage at a premium these days, you’re probably going to have to settle for the standard L-shaped closet or a stack of freestanding drawers…NOT.
Here are 20 reasons (backed with real-life examples) why your home, whether small or large, could use a custom-designed storage space for your favourite fashion items!
1. Walk-in wardrobes are super-efficient at keeping things neat
Tumblr media
                                           Credit: @houseofchais
One common (and misinformed) belief about walk-ins is that they are just fancy home features because the space they occupy could be used to achieve a larger bedroom. But what’s the point if you don’t have the means to keep your belongings stored neatly?
Sure, a regular closet could get the job done, however, with a dedicated space (like this bespoke walk-in in Jade and Anthony’s home) it’s going to be much easier to keep things organised and corralled away for a seamless look.
2. They don’t have to take up an entire room to feel spacious
Tumblr media
A tall, but slim see-through cabinet by the window maximises what would have been a dead corner.
Tumblr media
                                     Interior Firm: Home Philosophy
This tiny, but mighty example is ample proof that walk-in wardrobes don’t have to occupy an entire room to be… well, roomy.
Despite being part of a master bedroom, everything is kept well-organised here – showing that all you really need is some clever space-planning to get a tidy walk-in where everything fits in nicely.
3. Designing one encourages you to think out of the box
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                     Interior Firm: Prozfile Design
Want storage space and also some privacy for your bedroom’s sleeping area? Then you’ll want to steal a page from design firm Prozfile’s book by building a modular wall that functions both as a ‘walk-in closet’ and room divider.
4. A walk-in can provide quick and easy access to your belongings…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                     Interior Firm: ARK-hitecture
Much like a drive-through, an open-storage system is a convenient feature to have in your walk-in if you’re the type who prefers to grab your outfit straight off the shelf, instead of giving yourself an early morning headache over what to wear.
5. … while keeping things looking neat and tidy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                    Interior Firm: Colourbox Interior
Open-storage systems may be convenient, but (untidy) homeowners beware! Keeping your belongings out in the open will increase the visual clutter, but that isn’t a problem so long as you keep everything hidden within a separate area.
Another tip: Maximise all four sides of your walk-in, be it with wall-to-wall wardrobes, bay window storage seats, or even mirror sliding doors.
6. You can turn a walk-in into your personal study…
Tumblr media
                                                Interior Firm: Voila
The idea of creating a walk-in that’s also a study may sound complicated, but all you really need to do is set aside some room by the window for a conducive work area (like in this tranquil boudoir) while keeping your storage solutions tucked against the adjoining walls to maximise space.
7. … or a (daringly bold) dressing area
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                             Interior Firm: Aestherior
Alternatively, if you’ve a short wall in your walk-in, you can also have a nifty (but useful) dressing area installed for extra convenience. To achieve the cosy and classy look, bring in dark hues as well as tinted surfaces. And don’t forget about the blackout blinds either!
8. Walk-ins can be both subtle and impressive at the same time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                       Interior Firm: 19 Eighty Three
While keeping things subtle is a great way of achieving a clean, minimalist look for your home, it also makes the transition between different spaces that much more exciting.
In this Woodlands apartment’s bedroom, walking through an unassuming entrance brings you into a charming galley-style walk-in, which plays up the masculine vibe with earthy neutrals and sleek lines.
9. A walk-in’s design doesn’t have to be complicated to be special
Tumblr media
                                          Interior Firm: Space Atelier
Sometimes, simple is best. This bedroom’s walk-in makes use of see-through glass dividers to create a no-frills, open-concept storage area that’s a unique and useful space in its own right.
10. You can also use a walk-in to divide a room lengthwise…
Tumblr media
                                     Interior Firm: Design 4 Space
Creative (and also functional) partitioning in the form of a floor-to-ceiling closet with sliding doors allows this bedroom to have both a walk-in wardrobe as well as a personal sleeping area that’s blocked off from prying eyes.
11. … or sideways, as you please
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interior Firm: J Design & Build
Aside from creating a closed-off changing area, halving a bedroom also lets you have your own dressing table. And if there’s sufficient depth, you can even create a private display case/grab-and-go shelf for your fashion favourites.
12. Walk-ins are spaces where you can fulfill your #goals
Tumblr media
                                      Interior Firm: Aart Boxx Interior
Ever wanted to have your own personal home space that’s full of girly glam, there’s probably no better way to achieve your dreams than building your own walk-in. Decorate it with rose-gold accents and include full-body mirrors as well as fluffy pink seats for an ultra-feminine look.
13. Want to hide everything? You can use a TV feature wall
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                         Interior Firm: Space Atelier
Vertical slatted wood walls are in, and while they serve well as accent walls, these decorative features are also great for keeping private spaces concealed. Hide your walk-in wardrobe behind one of these stylish barriers and you’ll get your own secret dressing/storage area.
14. Otherwise, a simple curtain works just fine!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                             Interior Firm: i Chapter
Using a curtain might be a simpler (and less ambitious) way of keeping your walk-in wardrobe separate from the rest of the bedroom. But hey, if it works, it works!
15. Or you could simply make things seamless
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                        Interior Firm: Neu Konceptz
If you like, creating a seamless transition between your bedroom and walk-in wardrobe is also an idea that’s worth exploring because of how much larger it can make both spaces look and feel. The trick to doing so? Simply be consistent in your choice of colours and materials!
16. Walk-ins can be made to look like a low-key luxury feature…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                         Interior Firm: Hall Interiors
Luxury doesn’t always equate to flashy. And in the case of this unique walk-in wardrobe situated behind a bed, that means putting together a row of handsome royal-blue panels to create a classy backdrop, which also conceals several storage cabinets.
17 … or designed as swanky spaces with flair
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                           Interior Firm: i Chapter
Ask any fan of the classic contemporary style what they like about it, and they are probably going answer, ‘It’s the refined features’ – and that’s exactly what makes it the perfect decor choice for a walk-in wardrobe. To get the look, include interior elements like crown moulding (around your closets), hardwood flooring, and plenty of white.
18. There are clever ways to cheat a ‘walk-in’ into your bedroom
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                 Interior Firm: Fifth Avenue Interior
While they aren’t walk-ins, reach-ins serve a similar purpose as their larger counterparts because they let homeowners cheat a private closet into tight spaces (read: corners and small walkways) that otherwise wouldn’t be able to fit one. So take note!
19. And there are elegant ways to store ALL of your belongings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
                                           Interior Firm: Adroit ID
There’s an elegant solution to everything, and that includes your storage and space woes. But don’t take our word for it, instead take a look at this walk-in wardrobe that has storage niches for all manner of accessories, including a display case with a protective panel that’s also the walk-in’s sliding door.
20. With the right accents, a walk-in can be the highlight of your home!
Tumblr media
                                 Interior Firm: Charlotte's Carpentry
While the main purpose of a walk-in wardrobe is to serve as a personal storage area, it’s important not to forget the style factor. After all, what’s the point of a walk-in if doesn’t make your friends go ‘wow’? So, dress yours up with bold splash of colour and elegant detailing for a chic finish!

Two Luxury Single Family Houses With Red And Grey Decor
Two terrific tours of single family house interiors are here to show us how to tackle a red and grey colour palette for maximum impact, each designed and visualised by Tamizor. Our first luxury family home plays host to a vibrant red sectional sofa, red rug and red pendant light combination that dominates an open plan family living space. All other parts of the living area are knocked back in shades of grey and black, with light relief from wood panelling. The second tour is a slightly different take on the colour theme. White is used to offset swathes of grey and black, and only a smidge of red accent colour showcases inside this scheme.
Tour number one kicks off in a minimalist living room, with a vibrant colour block combo of a red modern sofa, red area rug, red coffee table and a red pendant light. All of the pieces hold together in one single shade of red.
The L-shaped sectional sofas hug the lounge layout around two corners of the huge red rug, facing each other in a conversational arrangement. A tv is mounted on one side of the lounge, opposite the lively flicker of the contemporary fireplace on the other.
The modern fireplace is of a linear design, set upon a black hearth with a rugged edge.
A black wall partially divides the lounge from the dining room, and obscures part of the fireplace from view of the sofas.
An unusual floor lamp lights up the charcoal coloured drapes. LED strip lights illuminate the underside of a black slatted wall panel that frames the tv.
More modern dark interior design shapes the adjacent kitchen dining area. Huge pendant lights hover as giant black cones over a black dining table and grey chairs. A charcoal coloured kitchen looms darkly behind the eating area.
Wood slat panels and doors lighten the look of the dark decor at one side of the open plan room.
Red wall art punctuates the end of the hallway.
A modern grey kitchen sink is sunken into the central island.
A black staircase design rises up through the hall, with black metal balustrades drawing vertical lines all the way from the treads to the ceiling. Daylight peeps through the spindles from full height windows behind. Huge planters grow a couple of plants inside the glass.
Across from the modern staircase, a red pouf sits in front of a large wall mirror. The pouf matches the sectional red sofas in the lounge. These two areas are marked as separate by a change in flooring design – one being covered in light beechwood planks and the other finished in a wide dark tile.
The master bedroom has a completely grey and wood decor scheme, aside from a burst of green coming in with mature indoor plants. A grey bed and padded headboard design is set on top of a grey bedroom rug. Long grey drapes pool at the window.
A glass wall ensuite bathroom follows on with the grey theme, with a grey double vanity unit and grey flooring.
On the way to bed, there is a luxury walk in closet hidden behind wood slat panel doors.
The double slatted doors slide apart to reveal a wide array of garment rails, shelves and drawers. Red seating is lined along the middle of the space.
Even the home gym gets a splash of red, in the form of a red balance ball.
Green botanical art provides contrast.
Inside the ensuite, textured grey floor tiles match rugged grey walls.
Mirrored cabinets are underlined with mood lighting in the shadowy scheme.
Our second tour features a modern living room for car lovers.
Red artwork has been hung on the wall to vie for attention, but whether the slatted doors are opened or closed, it’s the collection of sports cars that wins the award for showstopper.
A white sofa stretches out in front of the white sports cars, joined by another at its side.
Mirrored coffee tables sit in front of each designer couch, reflecting the light from huge windows opposite.
A cool floor lamp joins each of the sofas too.
Green garden views contrast with the red wall art in the room.
A grey area rug holds the whole lounge furniture arrangement together as one cohesive connected area.
A black slatted panel creates a commanding backdrop behind the tv. A white media unit cuts across the dark feature wall. More black slat panel work draws attention to the chimney breast that rises up to the rafters in the room, setting off a modern fireplace.
LEDs illuminate the treads of a dark staircase design.
The luxury dining room contains a huge grey stone table and chunky grey dining chairs.
Black slatted panels cover the dining room ceiling, with track lights twinkling through.
White kitchen cabinets brighten the border of the room.
The kitchen’s dining peninsula matches the rugged cut of the stone dining table nearby. The peninsula support leg is created by a linear planter design that rises up through the countertop.
One wall of the galley kitchen is a lightbox, glowing over the prep area and the grey kitchen sink.
The units that meet with the kitchen peninsula are dark grey to match, with colour coordinated integrated appliances.
Dual aspect green garden views bless the monochrome kitchen design.

10 Concepts for Little Kitchens
Cape Kitchen
Tumblr media
In an effort to maintain the period look of this 1932 Cape Cod remodel, close attention was paid to details like the intricate bracketed molding and drawer pulls. It is the robin's-egg-blue cabinets, though, that really grab attention and create the illusion of space in the small room.
Designer: Gerard Ciccarello, CMKBD, Covenant Kitchens & Baths Inc., Westbrook, CT
Glittering Galley
Tumblr media
The old cabinet doors that were once in this galley kitchen couldn't take another coat of paint, so the homeowners brought in a design pro for a complete overhaul. The new layout called for the removal of a wall between the small kitchen and family room to open up the space. Scraped maple floors and simple cabinetry with river-stone hardware give the room a clean, uncluttered vibe. The glass-tile mosaic backsplash twinkling beneath undercabinet lighting is a bold focal point that draws the eye.
Designer: Blue Arnold, IV, CKD, Kitchen By Request Inc., Jarrettsville, MD
Light and Bright
Tumblr media
This kitchen packs every homeowner's most-wanted features into a small space: a storage-filled island with seating, double wall ovens, pendant lights, and a beautiful mosaic backsplash. Light English sycamore and dark maple trim play nicely in the custom cabinetry, creating a striking but natural balance. Recessed lighting and open shelving above the cabinets create a perfect home for collectibles.
Designer: Glenn Meader, AKBD, Kitchen Concepts Inc., Norwell, MA
Space-Saving Sensation
Tumblr media
The owners of this American bungalow wanted to make their small kitchen more exotic. Dark cabinets with brown-and-black tiger striping makes for a sleek, contemporary look, while the pale solid-surface backsplash creates a bold contrast. The design makes the most of very little countertop space with a wenge butcher block that slides over the sink. A dining table on casters allows an eight-seater to slide under the island when not in use.
Designer: Jennifer L. Gilmer, CKD, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath Ltd., Chevy Chase, MD
Brilliant Backsplash
Tumblr media
The wall between this tiny kitchen and an adjacent living space was removed to make room for more storage. Visual separation between the rooms was maintained with an island-breakfast bar. Placing the sink in the corner of the room made for more food prep space, while brushed and polished stainless tile forms a standout backsplash.
Designer: Areti Tanya Rentzos, Andros Kitchen & Bath Designs, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Room for Two
Tumblr media
This small kitchen boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the place with natural light, opening up the space, so the design of the once-cluttered kitchen—in which the refrigerator door hit the dishwasher or stove when it opened—was planned around them.
Reorganization of the footprint and a few clever island design tweaks allowed for counter-height seating. Rich, stained cabinets and dark granite counters form a bold contrast with light porcelain floors.
Designer: Tony Hunt, CKD, CBD, Binns Kitchen + Bath Design, Pickering, Ontario, Canada
Small Wonder
Tumblr media
This homeowner, a top Realtor in the area, wanted a unique small space to show off to her clients. That's just what she got with the dark shoji-style cabinets and custom round butcher-block table on casters. The cooking range is flanked by floating shelves, which help to open up the tiny kitchen.
Designer: Jennifer L. Gilmer, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath Ltd., Chevy Chase, MD
Classic White
Tumblr media
This 1800s Federal-style home features a contemporary white kitchen. The smallness of the room allowed the homeowners to splurge on luxurious materials. Crystal cabinet pulls and knobs, a Turkish marble subway tile backsplash, and taupe silk wall coverings make for a classic, indulgent space.
Designer: Gerard Ciccarello, CMKBD, Covenant Kitchen & Baths Inc., Westbrook, CT
Space-Smart and Sleek
Tumblr media
Though her old home is old—as well as tiny—and traditional, this homeowner requested a contemporary cooking space. The clean design makes the perfect backdrop for collectibles. Mother-of-pearl granite countertops and frosted-glass tile contrast with dark cabinets, while a custom-built, space-saving table on casters nests into the back of the island when not in use.
Designer: Jennifer L. Gilmer, CKD, Jennifer Gilmer Kitchen & Bath Ltd., Chevy Chase, MD
Stylish Storage
Tumblr media
This hardworking small kitchen features two space-smart pull-out pantry units and hidden stepladder storage for upper cabinets. The use of butternut wood, copper, hickory, and antiqued bronze give the room warmth, while a rich blue beadboard backsplash delivers a shot of color.

Located in the exclusive Doheny Estates community in Los Angeles, standing on one of the most secluded streets, this home is a 12,800 square foot contemporary architectural triumph. The house is built around a zero edge pool and spa, making a layout that promotes an indoor-outdoor flow of life. The sophisticated floor plan includes 7 luxurious bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a spa retreat with resistance pool and plunge pool, dry sauna, and gym/massage room, a home movie theater, humidor room, entertainment area with tequila/vodka freezer, regulated wine room, and even an open-air shark aquarium! $22,900,000 will get you all of this and some of the best views over the bustling City of Angels.
This modern home exterior stands out even amongst the other fabulous homes in Doheny Estates, which are among the most sought-after properties in all of Los Angeles.
The Doheny Estates community is close to designer shopping, top dining establishments, and all the entertainment that Sunset Strip has to offer in West Hollywood, and in nearby Beverly Hills.
With all of the home’s own amenities, there is a sense of living in a retreat above the sprawling city below.
Glass walls retract to fully connect each of the indoor living spaces with the outdoor pool and sun patio at its core.
This indoor-outdoor home design also provides the perfect setting for get togethers and large parties too, allowing guests to spill out into the evening air.
Underwater lights colour the hot tub in contrasting pink, against the zero edge blue swimming pool.
Outdoor chaise lounge chairs line up to spectate.
Steps border the full length and breadth of the swimming pool.
An outdoor lounge area is arranged with a wall mounted TV.
Outdoor seating looks out through glass balustrades at the enviable view.
The skyscape drifts into the heart of the house over the swimming pool.
The colour of the outdoor swimming pool inspires an aqua accent palette inside of the home. An aqua ottoman stretches out beside the retractable glass doors, and matching scatter cushions brighten a crisp white modern sofa. Colourful works of art decorate the gallery white walls.
A couple of taupe poufs are grouped with the ottoman at the doors to provide extra options for guests.
Lightweight white voiles draw across the windows to filter out the LA sun. For the size of the room, furniture is quite minimal. A small side table serves the sofa, and a single wall shelf holds a modern vase.
In the dining room there is seating for ten. A modern dining room chandelier shines down on the long glass tabletop.
A wood effect sideboard stretches the length of the large table.
Just like the indoor lounge, the dining room opens up fully to the pool patio.
The dining room joins openly with the kitchen. There is another dining area in here, with seating for six. The unique kitchen pendant lights are the Vibia Cosmos cluster pendant.
The dining peninsula runs off of a large kitchen island. A ceiling soffit provides housing for a built-in cooker hood.
Two openings provide entry to the kitchen from the formal dining room–one enters the casual dining area by the windows, and the other has direct access to the food prep galley.
The shark pool is another indoor-outdoor space. A canopy shelters a zen relaxation zone, but at the sides the space is open air. Stepping stones meander across the waters calm surface, and a vertical garden grows a revitalising effect. Check out the video at the end to enjoy more of this space.
The home is sumptuous yet simplified.
A wood and glass staircase design climbs the levels of the house.
Wood clad ceiling areas add warmth to the cool white interior.
This entire luxury bedroom ceiling is a vision of natural wood grain; its warm tones inspire the colourway of the bed runner and two modern bedroom chairs.
White bedside table lamps look crisp against a dark grey headboard design.
A glass coffee table stands between the bedroom chairs, forming a conversational area in front of the contemporary fireplace.
The home is equipped with state-of-the-art smart house technology, including automated curtains and doors.
Designer finishes and imported materials are found throughout the home, along with relaxing aromatherapy, and a water purification system.
A game of pool is played under a linear suspension light, in a snug with a roaring fireplace.
A luxurious home theatre makes the most of movie night–or reliving some epic Game of Thrones action.
There is much attention paid to keeping drinks at optimum temperature inside this sociable home.
A glass wine storage room makes an extensive bottle collection part of the dining room decor.
Outdoor chairs meet on another terrace.
Glass siding keeps balconies open to the view.
Olive green, plum and yellow accents colour a plain white painted guest room with a 4 poster bed. See more 4 poster beds here.
The master bedroom has a huge walk in wardrobe, with garment rails and shelves set out around three sides, and a large orange ottoman at its centre for throwing down outfit ideas.
The home gym is equipped with a massage table, for working out tired muscles and strains.
Luxury tiles decorate the areas around a resistance pool and plunge pool.
The large master bathroom with bathtub is also home to huge walk-in shower and a generous double sink bathroom vanity. Mosaic tiles bring small detail and texture.

A Sprawling Luxury Home in Brazil that Emphasizes Fun and Creativity
This spectacular residence is a home crafted around the sights and sounds of a vibrant well-balanced life. This project is the work of Bernardes Arquitetura and Sala2 Arquitetura, situated on a gorgeous tree-lined plot in São Paulo, Brazil. Throughout this tour you will notice areas dedicated to music, cinema, art, play, enterprise, and so much more. Each family member has room to explore their own means of expression. Explore the photos below to see how this home balances its exceptionally cohesive interior theme with the need for highly personalized and individualized spaces.
This tour begins with a spacious mid century modern living room, its functionality and design based around its star occupant – the stately black piano. Acoustics were a prime consideration with the ceiling clad in wood and the floor carpeted in natural wool.
Two square coffee tables are pushed together to suit the length of the of the social area, a handsome space lined with architectural art on one side and a view of the garden on the other.
A lovely accent chair sits near the wide firebox of the fireplace. Small decorations dot the mantel, including the iconic Eames bird in matching black.
Large sliding glass doors blur the lines between indoors and out.
On the other side of the room, more architectural artwork joins subtle accents like decorative vases. The pendant light is from the DNA Collection by Hopf & Wortmann.
Across the garden, you can see the second volume of this spacious abode.
This home layout is arranged with abundant consideration for everyday life. Residents are never far from a place to lounge, eat, or enjoy recreation.
Stylish shelves serve as a room divider between the living area and a formal dining room. An array of sculpture and indoor plants partially shield the table to provide a touch of privacy.
Together, this collection stands as a veritable indoor garden.
In addition to the live plants, there is also a large glass vase with fresh cuttings. This type of leaf drop arrangement is growing in popularity for its simplicity and elegant form.
These modern dining chairs, upholstered in vibrant orange, are from the Hola Collection by Hannes Wettstein.
A variety of lighting sets the mood for every type of evening. Inset downlights provide bright illumination when needed, and a combination of cove lighting and chandeliers set a calmer mood for relaxing moments.
The main kitchen maintains a traditional sense of enclosure, tucked away in a room separate from the main living area. The style, on the other hand, is undeniably modern with its minimalist wood cabinetry and slate grey floors.
At the end of the galley layout is a cozy family space – a lovely little dining room for casual breakfasts and family meals, a more intimate alternative to the formal dining table in the living room beyond.
This nook is lit by a modern dining room pendant light above an equally minimalistic round dining table.
Across the garden from the main house, this portion of the home seems tailored specifically toward entertainment. Here, a full outdoor kitchen overlooks a living and dining area that flows seamlessly toward the patio and pool.
Nearby, residents can enjoy this casual cinema space. Each ascending row features a different type of chair to suit the individual comfort preferences of guests.
When the blackout curtains are open, you can see the beautiful spiral staircase design that leads to the private upstairs areas of the home.
A causal living room provides a place for guests or in-laws to relax in the entertainment-focused volume of the home. This one is outfitted with a long cabinet that extends over 10 meters in length ending at the television corner, situated low enough to maintain the treetop view. A simple Vitra Cork stool provides height-appropriate seating at the near end.
Now for a look at the children’s bedrooms, little worlds of their own. This nursery features a whimsical theme of balloons and animals and city skylines, all wrapped in a comforting green color palette.
Playful details include a charming floor lamp that stands on two feet like a person, a carved sheep stool with realistic wool, and so many others.
Another bedroom, intended for an older child, takes that playful energy and redirects it toward activity. The bed doubles as a playhouse thanks to its innovative framing. A long table features a jumbo roll of paper built-in for endless artistry.
The storage solutions are especially versatile and well-suited to adults and children alike. Toy boxes are easily pulled from their organized cubbies below, books are reachable from the lowest shelves, and the highest shelves provide safe storage for favorite collectibles like the iconic Eames Mini Elephant.
Each of the master bedrooms and guest bedrooms offer their own unique approach to functionality. In this one, a full modern home office desk looks over the low-profile bed for a clear view out of the window on the other side.
Spinning the swivel chair around to face the shelves reveals a small collection of Vitra miniature chairs – a fantastic collection for passionate fans of modern design.
This bedroom features a unique built-in alongside the bed. This cozy area could serve as a sofa or a daybed for casual relaxation.
The color scheme is certainly energetic, with accents like pillows and poufs in dark blue and vibrant orange.
Here is another enviable modern bedroom, this time with a calm and subdued color palette. Where you might normally find a bench, the end of this bed is capped with a full loveseat and ottoman set.
And finally, a look at the smartly designed and well-equipped home office. A long desk spans the room with equally generous shelves above. Residents forego the standard computer chair in favor of the famously ergonomic and adjustable Herman Miller Aeron.
A few provided floor plans provide context for the layout. The home is split into two distinct volumes, one that emphasizes entertainment and another that prioritizes everyday family living.
The second floor of each volume contains bedrooms and small social spaces.
Yet another space contains a gym and a music room. In terms of architecture, this home is stunning. When it comes to interior design, these spaces could not feel fresher and more contemporary. And the functionality – every member of the family has room to explore their interests and dreams.

The Merging Of Three Apartments To Make One Amazing Loft
Three apartments have been skillfully joined together to create a brand new 136 square metre home for a young couple. Located in Moscow, Russian Federation, the design for the single functional space was put together by Cartelle Design, who gave it a twist of cool loft style. The final energised look was achieved by incorporating an abundance of raw concrete, some metals and decorative coatings, plus warm natural materials that helped achieve a cozy undertone to the edgy aesthetic. A monochrome color scheme rules, though the grey, black, white, and wood tone are intermittently disturbed by moments of bright yellow and blue, through accent furniture, accessories and textiles.
The center of the new loft layout is home to a spacious living room and kitchen combo. Grey concrete walls set a dramatic tone behind vivid accents of solid yellow and marine blue. Natural wood warms the floor.
A square coffee table nestles into the elbow of an L-shaped modular sofa, where grey upholstery meets blue. The colourful decor accents lift the serious look of the predominantly grey living room.
At the other side of the grey area rug in the lounge, a quirky side table serves a grey tufted ottoman.
There is another Monkey side table by BD Barcelona Design over by the couch, this time in a yellow colourway. A few books rest on its tray. A fruit bowl decorates the main square coffee table.
Yellow threads run through the grey area rug, tying it in with the decor accents in the room.
Mature indoor plants brush refreshing greenery up against dark grey stone veneer panels on the tv wall.
A black swing arm wall lamp extends high above the sofa to cast a general glow.
Yellow accents prevail in the adjoining dining area.
Yellow and black dining chairs surround a dining peninsula. Yellow swiss crosses punctuate a black tile kitchen floor.
Novelty wall lights spread illustrative speech bubbles across a wall.
A bank of white kitchen cabinets stretch from floor to ceiling across one entire wall of the kitchen, making the most of the vertical storage space under lofty ceilings.
Only base units and a wall shelf span the adjoining wall. The dining peninsula makes this into a narrow galley kitchen layout.
A steel frame surrounds the cooker hood. The frame makes the extractor into a larger feature, yet somehow manages to disguise it from view – reinventing it instead as a glorious design feature.
Unfinished concrete creates a textured backdrop behind the kitchen diner configuration.
Directional track lights cross a raw concrete ceiling.
A glass wall home workspace is hidden behind curtains.
Inside the glass home office there is a double workspace at a single extended wooden desk. A narrow bookcase towers up the wall beside it, recessed into the plaster.
With the addition of a bright and comfortable reading chair, the home office also provides a cozy place to read or simply relax – although there is a bunk up top for really stretching out. A short floor reading lamp puts task lighting right where it’s needed by the chair.
Another modern floor lamp serves a small grey pouf just outside the study door.
The grey pouf provides seating in the home entryway, next to coat and shoe cupboards.
A small nook for the hanging of guests coats has been clad in attractive wood panelling by the front door. The shelf beneath the coat hooks can also be used as an impromptu seat, or as a spot to put down bags to keep them tidy and off the floor.
The grey bedroom decor scheme is dotted with blue bedside tables.
A unique headboard design curves around the head of the bed, like a new take on an old winged classic. Floor lamps light its cushioned upholstered finish.
An area rug beneath the bed brings in some of the yellow tone from the living room too, which gives the apartment one flowing cohesive look.
A large motivational poster at the foot of the bed encourages the homeowners to ‘Get out of bed’!
One wall of the bedroom is home to an open fronted closet. One single rail awaits hanging garments; a single row of floating drawers make a shelf underneath.
Inside the large bathroom there is a double sink bathroom vanity area.
Two unique bathroom sinks stand tall beneath an even taller vanity mirror.
LED lighting creates an ambient glow from behind the panel wall of the vanity area.
The backlighting gives the panel a floating effect. Over by a spa bathtub, a quirky yellow rubber duck shaped table sits in wait of toiletries, some candles, or a cool beverage.
The shower enclosure stands at the foot of the bathtub. The toilet hides behind the vanity wall.
Inside the shower enclosure there is a large rainfall showerhead poised to drench. A recessed shelf has been illuminated to give a soft cosy glow.
Strip lights have been set flush into the grey ceiling, giving it an ultra slick look. A wall hung charcoal grey toilet and matching grey flush plate finishes off the contemporary bathroom design.
The floor plan of the loft better illustrates some of its more hidden features: On here we can see the huge amount of storage included in the home entryway, and the full design of the lofted bed inside the study.
