So I still have beat the game yet but I know Zelda becomes the light dragon, so I’m assuming she stops being the light dragon at the end. Now, the chain re-meets up with Wild after he’s taken away for Totk, and now not only is Wild significantly more feral, they have to deal with Flora, who is tripple the amount of feral. She still has dragon like tendencies like growing and stuff. Now, her nails are also sharp, her eyes are still dragon like, and she has a thousand yard stare. She’s also noticeably taller than Wild, more so than before. And Wild just shows her off the the rest of the chain like

“There she is! Look at her! My former dragon gf!!! Isn’t she so pretty!”

And then Flora just stares at them all and tries to smile and act normal, but since she’s been a dragon for so long she’s kind of forgotten how to and just comes off as uncanny. Also she has sharp teeth.

A question re: the way you handle elf teeth: assuming that the multiple sets of teeth grow in slowly over time, does elf diet influence the speed at which they grow in? Or the health/durability of the new set once they are grown in? For instance, if Aredhel lost a tooth in a hunting accident but didn't damage the foundation/new growth, could she alter her diet to grow the new tooth in faster? (I assume nan elmoth would not have a cosmetic dentist in residence. )(Related: would times of privation, like the helcaraxe or the dying days of beleriand do long-term damage to the growing-in set of teeth??)

ok OKAY taking with a large pinch of salt that i have never studied dentistry and performed extremely averagely in 100 level biology years ago, i think yes and yes!

aredhel eating a calcium-or-whatever rich diet to prompt faster and healthier tooth regrowth or regeneration makes a lot of sense to me, mostly because i firmly believe in the inverse—gwindor definitely lost teeth in angband, due to a poor diet as well as obvious physical trauma, and was unable to recuperate and replace them afterward; maedhros was a frequent client of the himring dentist because he just kept breaking his weakened teeth off in things (living and not) post-thangorodrim; etc.

regarding the trek over helcaraxe—during which i think the nolofinweans and their ilk were eating their horses and drinking seal blood to avoid starvation and thus not receiving much vitamin c, d, or otherwise—a lot of them suffered tooth loss and found themselves with slow-growing and very brittle replacements. i think disability and chronic pain struck the exiles quickly and in ways they didnt imagine: who would have suffered serious nutrient deficiencies in a fantastically plentiful land? certainly someone, but not a significant enough population that i think the amanyar would give a shit pre-darkening. so what do you think and do when your teeth start falling out on the ice? what is the precedent for that? is there one? were there dentists in aman? periodontists? orthodontists? or was the declining health and quality of ones teeth an entirely new experience in beleriand?

Oddly something I havent seen much of in the ehlers danlos community is talk about how much of an effect it can have on your oral health. Because of heds i have an undeveloped jaw, which means i have a deeeep overbite, with my bottom teeth cutting at the roof of my mouth and my top teeth cutting at the bottom gum in front. I get painful ulcers and teeth decay and my teeth are in non stop pain, despite the amount that i clean my teeth, use mouthwash, floss sticks, visit the dentists etc. Ive got out of bed today to see ive cut the inside of my cheek purely with how my teeth sit, and even in purely cosmetic terms my teeth are all wildly different jagged shapes and sizes that even most dentists you'd think would clock on the abnormality of the way they look. And the best part? It'll cost 5k to straighten them to help with the pain, and thats money I dont have. This post doesnt really have much of a point tbh, im just so exhausted and sick of the damage ehlers danlos has done to my body and how painful it is, how miserable its made me.

this isnt said nearly enough, but dental is medical care and should be treated as such. regular cleanings, fillings--including ones that are visible--and root canals are not cosmetic procedures. dental is chronically left out of insurance plans or even "universal" health care even despite all the serious health conditions that can result from a lack of proper dental care. an abscessed tooth can result in sepsis, which can kill you. inflammation or infection can easily travel from the teeth to the heart, leading to endocarditis, something that requires open heart surgery to fix

ok so i was looking at pictures from macau 2019 and noticed this little gap and i knew that he didn’t have it anymore. right photo is from october 2023

obviously i just had to figure out when he got it fixed. i didn’t stray from getty to look for decent pictures but sometime between february 2022 and june 2022
