- Approaching vessel, identify yourself.
[there is a moment of silence, before:]
“Ahoy captain FORGE, this is the DOJ vessel… “unbreakable chains”. This is a routine inspection as we have received reports of pirates in the area, y’know.”
“Stand by to be boarded, we are sending an investigative team over so please prepare your hangar.”
[With the engines still slowly thawing, FORGE could nothing but clear the hangar, dim the lights down to next to nothing, and clamp down as the doors opened, briefly venting a multitude of loose papers and previously lost screws, before the Unbreakable’ came alongside and extended its hangar, locking the two ships together and disgorging a rabble of frames into the Leviathan’s hangar.
The “investigation team” comprised of a Blackbeard, two Calibans, and most surprisingly, a Störtebreker that led the team on board.
- How can I help the DoJ today then ?
[the frames spread out, the two caliban’s moving to flank the Stört as the Blackbeard started poking around the entrance to the hangar.]
“We’ll need to check your cargo”
- Of course. I’ll just require some I.D first. Can’t let just anyone on board of course. My crew might get… jumpy.
“Ah… I.D. Yes. Uhh.”
- You know boys-
[FORGE’s smile can be heard through the channel]
- I know you’re not DoJ officers. I’m assuming you’re the pirates you were warning about, so from one plunderer to another.
- This is your chance to run.
[Ogre’s took a step forward, her left arm igniting, while her right started to shimmer with heat. The lead voice sighed, then dropped the facade]
“Ya got me, I’m Stumpy. Cpt. Stumpy to the likes of you. Now, if you hadn’t noticed, you’re outnumbered girly. Hand over your goods and no one gets hurt.”
- Ha ! Bold, but no. This is my ship, My crew, and my loot. You’ve had your chance to leave so now
[She cuts off, noticing where the Blackbeard is poking around]
“Ey cap ! Lookit ! Spare frame !”
- Step. Away. I’m no longer asking.
[the Stört seemed to almost sneer as it tilted its head and stepped forward until it was mere meters from Ogre’s.]
“Or what ? Eh ? There’s four of us, and one of you, that frame looks lovely and shiny. Do you even know how to use it ? I think we’ll be taking that frame, and your loot, and your crew.”
[as he speaks, the one of the calibans takes up a flanking position on the Stört’s right side, shotgun aimed directly at Ogre’s knee]
[{switching channel}]
- Janissary. Keep the crew out of the hangar until I give the word. That goes for you.
[{terminating channel}]
- Three.
“What ? Three what ?”
- Three of you.
[the Stört tips it’s head back as it laughs, while the Caliban merely racks the slide on its gun. Ogre’s power lines briefly flare as it suddenly seems to ripple with flame, arm snapping out to grip the upper half of the Caliban, before snapping the monstrous claw shut, mincing the chassis and its pilot, then dropping the remains to the floor and taking another step toward]
- Three of you. And for every second you stay, there will be one less. I will desecrate this hall with your blood for this double insult. Firstly you demand my prize, then you defile my friend and compatriot.
- You may think you are the biggest fish, but the leviathan swallows all. And now you will burn.
[the Blackbeard, seeing the first caliban’s remains drop messily to the floor, let out a wild yell, unsheathed the large axe strapped to its back, and fired a grappling cable, lodging in Ogre’s back and shooting across the room, only to be bludgeoned back by the shimmering right fist. The remaining Caliban advanced, firing at the flaming beast that so ruthlessly ended its comrade, the heavy rounds gouging lines in the thick plating, mostly ignored.
The Störtebreker… ran. Ran, as the Blackbeard swung wildly and carved a chunk out of the deck, lifting for another pass, and having its arm ripped off as Ogre’s delivered another clean blow.
- Have you learnt of your mistake, O bold captain ? Has the split blood of your crew taught you to respect the lift of others ? It will. I can assure you.
[FORGE’s ministrations are interrupted as the Caliban makes a desperate sprint, slamming its arm mounted shotgun against Ogre’s chest and fired. Sparks fly as FORGE howls in pain, quickly moving into a growl, then a laugh as Ogre’s right arm goes limp, the single slug round having cut through something important]
- Maybe one of you is a worthy opponent ! Well met, and goodbye.
[The remaining, fateful hand swings down, slowly only slightly as it crushes the 1/2 frame flat, then turns back to the felling captain]
- Run little captain ! Fear my flames and run !
[{switching channels}]
[{entering the auditorium}]
- Target their engines.
- Command: Dead in the water. Execute
[the air splits as the Leviathan opens fire, unable to miss at this range even if it’s captain wanted to, tearing into the rear superstructure of the Unbreakable Chains and crippling it with engines reduced to scrap and slag.]
- Command: Remove parasite. Execute
[The dreadful sound of tearing metal fills the hangar as the door slides shut, sealing the flaming ogre and its occupant in the dark, only accompanied by the dead and sleeping.]
- Command: Resume the melody. Execute
[with a smooth jolt, the Leviathan continues serenely on its journey, unburdened by the broken and unmoving ship come graveyard it left behind]
[{switching channel}]
[{encryption key: Furious steel}]
- First mate, the problem has been dealt with.
- Being one of the maintenance crews down to the hangar to assist with clean up, the rest are free to disarm and continue their duties.
- We should arrive within the day.
- I’m passing command over to you until we do so.
- FORGE
