barbarian! also, i would read a fjoressek pirate au SO much
barbarian: who is your favorite villain
Avantika is the sexiest answer, but god I do love Ludinus Da'leth. Slippery, slimy bastard. In the vein of this question, I hope Ashton gets to smash his skull in with the aid of some stolen dunamancy nonsense, just for the "Well well well how the turntables" of it all.

For the Critical Role ask game ^-^ aasimar (favourite location in exandria- or out of it), eisfuura (favourite npc), paladin (favourite friendship), rogue (moment that made you cry), and barbarian (favourite villain). I'd ask about tiefling (favourite female character) but I think I already know the answer to that one :) Feel free to pick which ones you'd like to answer- you don't have to answer all of them cause I put a lot down, but I got excited ^-^
aasimar: what is your favorite location in exandria (or out of it)?
Rexxentrum. Can't explain it, but I love the vibe of that city. I think maybe it reminds me of some of my favorite cities I got to visit when I was still living in Europe? Idk, but I love that place, #1 Exandrian city in my heart.
paladin: what was your favorite badass moment?
this is. this is hard. there are just so many moments to choose from. perhaps not a traditional answer, but I have to go with Fjord telling the rangers to engage the Tomb Takers and subsequently him smoking Zoran while telling Lucien "No way out of this fight, my friend." Like. Holy shit. That DID something to me
rogue: what was a moment that made you cry?
Caleb's memory dome on Rumblecusp! That was probably the first cr moment I watched live that really wrecked my ass, and it still does whenever I rewatch that scene. It's always the poignant, vaguely hopeful stuff that ends with me in tears (as opposed to straight up angsty and sad stuff).
barbarian: who is your favorite villain?
You know what, I have to give it to Uk'otoa (~uk'otoa~) because that sexy snea snake was such a long running villain and also he gave us our reunion two-shot. Beloved leviathan

satyr for the cr ask game, please :)
I've been a Laura Bailey for awhile because of World of Warcraft. So my WoW friends were talking about the show and I checked it out a few times over the years, however I didn't really stick with it til C3. Something about Bells Hells immediately endeared me to them.

Elf & changeling for the critical role ask game!!
elf: what is your favorite side campaign?
I actually haven't gotten into them! I have been focusing on the main campaigns. I really like the idea of the Johnson Corps. one, the Nautilus, I think it's called? When it came out I wanted to watch that one but didn't have the time.
changeling: who is your favorite campaign 2 character?
Caleb Caleb Caleb. Nott/Veth, too, and Molly! Can't forget Molly. I'm getting a tattoo of a snake on my shoulder that I'll call Molly because of him.

looking for light inside an ocean for the wip ask game? could it be?? mercaleb my beloved??? \o/
This answer is also for @wanderingbasilisk who requested the same WIP!
Yes it is! It is a mercaleb oneshot interlude set within Chapter 21 of the main fic (the happiest time), and is one of my "front burner" WIPs that I am actively trying to finish. I missed getting it posted for Mermay but hey any month can be mermay with the right attitude!
I shared a previous snippet here, and here is another one:
‘Walking is very different from swimming,’ Caleb continued. ‘Often frustrating, and so much slower.  Inefficient and limiting.  It is a wonder you people get anywhere at all.” Essek huffed a laugh.  “Please, do not hold back your thoughts.”   ‘Ah, but you agree with me.’  Caleb’s tail twitched with mischief. ‘You, who would rather swim in the air than walk with your feet.’ “That’s not— it is merely floating.” ‘Swimming.’  “Floating!" ‘If you say so.’ “I do!” ‘...In that case, I must tell you that floating is also something you do in the water.’

Oh, also, one last thought -- it has been very funny for me to watch early campaign 1 and see the cast go "can I tell if he's lying? Is that perception?" and have to be told "you need to make an insight check."
Hilarious contrast to campaign 2, during which they would yell "INSIGHT CHECK!" and roll the second they thought ANYONE was being shady. And then Matt having to tell them "guys. You have to wait for me to tell you to roll."
And then they had to be retrained right back into going "can I tell if he's lying?" Horseshoe theory of levels of understanding how to play D&D 5e.

Eissfuura and Paladin for the ask game!
eisfuura: who is your favorite npc
I am going with the obvious answer, but it is Essek. No one else comes close. He's fascinating from an analytical level and a mechanical level and I have so many feelings about him, so I absolutely cannot pick anyone else.
paladin: what is your favorite friendship
I could not decide between Empire Siblings and Brjeaus, so I'm gonna go with full c2 top table, because Fjord and Caleb are also so great on a friendship level, and the dynamic between all three of them is so funny. Brain cell hot potato time, truly.

Goliath sorcerer for the meme?
goliath: who is your favorite campaign 1 character?
I know he wasn't in many episodes at all, but Tary is my best boy. He won me heart, body, and soul with his pathetic sobbing breakdown when VM were bullying him. I would do anything for that guy <3
sorcerer: what is your favorite sam commercial skit?
Elermancy cocktail. that is the only time I actually screamed at the tv for him to stop because it was so gross, but also his utter shock that the absinthe and espresso were real was so fucking funny, it's truly unforgettable to me. Additionally, multiple people have tried to pressure me into trying it and one day we probably will (I flatly REFUSE to include the yogurt though, that's disgusting)

goblin, wizard, and bard for the meme!
OH Good ones.
Goblin: who is your favorite non-main campaign character
I am really quite fond of Hazel Copperpot. The whole concept of her is fucking AMAZING and Marisha did not hold back with her.
wizard: what is your favorite party name
They're all pretty great and it's hard to choice. But, I really do like that Bells Hells are named after the character that got them together ya know?
bard: what is your favorite “how do you want to do this?”
This is hard. Because I really love Grog's kill of Kevdak in the Kill Box, but I also really love any occasion that Laura Bailey took out a Briarwood.

One thing I've been curious about with Ashton, Imogen, etc, saying they've prayed to the gods, and they never answered... who did they pray to? What did they pray for? This is going to be a huge long ramble that's quite disjointed, and I'm sorry for that. Also I'm going off memory so if I am mistaken in any way or forgetting something, totally my bad and I'll own to it.
If the characters who have said their prayers went unanswered, I wonder if they are randomly just saying words into the universe, just praying to anyone and expecting for a sign from anyone..
I kinda see it like the gods all working in an office, phone ringing constantly, hundreds of emails or the pleas of their followers and a person they don't know randomly just standing at the doorway of the office of all the gods and shouting 'hey you' without any direction or purpose behind it and no followup. Can the gods hear it? Maybe. Probably. But why should they answer it? Do they know it's directed at them? Yes, the gods actively reach out to people who aren't praying. We have seen the wildmother do it with Fjord and Orym now. But both also have deep connections to her domain even before she did so.
If the person praying went to a temple and prayed and asked for something specific etc, I see that as going actually into the office and up to the desk and asking for help. Going to a temple shows actual active choice and active want from a single god of the pantheon. The person praying must look at the deity and think 'this one' for one reason or another no matter how tenuous. But they would show they at least have purpose by going to the temple and in so, know who they are praying to.
Just praying in a moment to the general idea of them.. is so...passive. Again. What are they asking for? Are they asking for anything? Are they asking for a better life? Are they just asking for a sign that the gods see them? Since we have not seen these unanswered prayer moments in game and they have only been mentioned starting mid game as the characters doing it countless times, we do not know what was said in those prayers. And so I wonder.. if someone comes to your desk and just says help, without context. How do you help them? Yes, the gods know things but do they know what is in the heart of people? Do they know what is in their mind? They seem to know more of the people connected to them. Connected to their domains.
What would Fearne ask of in earnest of the gods? What would Imogen ask in earnest of the gods? What would Ashton ask in earnest of the gods? Would Ashton ask without the distaste of authority that is so baked into his being because of his experiences? Not all gods are merciful as the everlight in looking past what could come across as sarcasm and snark.
Then, with signs. Everything I can think of in-game where characters have actively prayed to a single god with a focus for their prayer, it has been, in some form, acknowledged.
It is sometimes just a warm breeze, and sometimes not what they want to hear, and usually, even an absence has a reason to the larger story that is influenced by the choices of the characters. Could they have been sent a sign they didn't recognize because they didn't pray to a single god, so they didn't know to see the sign from a particular god?
Did Imogen always pray to the stormlord? I feel like her path to where he might be has been entirely in game as she has grown so so much. Ashton says he wants to talk to the arch heart only because he interpreted what he saw in Aeor but I don't know he would have prayed to before because I can't imagine what he would have asked for. Did Fearne say she prayed? I can't remember exactly but my brain says she said something along those lines. Am I forgetting where she did so in game to a particular god? If she's saying it happened pre-game... Who would she have prayed to? And especially in the fey realm? Would she even really know the gods there? She didn't really feel consequence until she joined Bells Hells. Would it be in earnest?
Also, the gods are behind the divine gate and cannot work directly outside of someone rolling divine intervention. Often, all they can do is send those small signs. Praying just for a better life isn't something that will be answered because it's not something they can do, at least to my understanding. You get visions and signs 95% of the time.
I know we as the audience knows more than the characters so they could absolutely be expecting more than they have been giving because they don't know what is to be expected. There are so many threads to make up where the characters are and how they act vs how we view them knowing more than they do.
I dunno it's just been bouncing around in my head and then I saw a super interesting and wonderful post talking about how OP wondered if the people saying their prayers hadn't been answered had chosen pre-stream that it would be part of their backstory or if the players decided to add it later on to justify their characters' povs (both totally valid choices) and that post really got my mind turning about what would they pray for? Who would they pray to?
Just my silly little thoughts and how I wonder about how prayers work within Exandria.

“I know you” with Vex and Scanlan?
[Getting to these late oop, busy last couple of days; Send me three words + a pairing/character and I'll write up a scene! Not Perc'ahlia please <3 ]
--
Their usual table looks a lot bigger with only a handful of Vox Machina present. Actually, it looks positively huge thanks to Scanlan being here, which… Scanlan, yeah.
Someone - Percival, probably, given how neatly even each glass is lined up - got them too many drinks before most of the party left. Vex’ahlia works on the last one now. It might be Direheart, though she can’t quite identify all of Whitestone’s liquors yet. Not for lack of trying, especially with how today is going.
The Meat Man, who is Scanlan, who looks about as un-Scanlan-ish as Scanlan could probably tolerate for this long, is rubbing his sternum. Like he’s having chest pains - which means Scanlan is rubbing his forehead through the illusion?
Yeah, she’s nursing quite the headache herself. Thank you very much.
“So - tell me,” he’s saying, and he sounds nothing like Scanlan. Except for the moments where he almost does in the same way Kaylie sometimes resembles him. “How could you see it was me?”
Scanlan taps a little rhythm into his glass with a nail. Scanlan, but taking up too much space and yet just as much as he should. Tap-taptap-tap.
A few more tap-taptap-taps as Vex thinks. Or doesn’t - her mind feels willfully blank, an empty shot glass. Everything meaningful in her gut where it churns, happy and sick at once.
He elaborates: “I mean - this thing has held up to a lot of scrutiny! Including from mages, because they really like their antiques apparently. And I had an audience with J’mon and they didn’t say anything either, and they’re a dragon!” (tap-taptap-tap) “Is the hair not realistic enough? Or the clothes? I really practiced. If there are any weak points to my disguise, you really should let me know.”
The pace of his fingers finally falters. Tap. Tap. Almost like he’s worried. “How could you tell?”
There were so many little tells, which is part of what is making this post-reunion drink so unsettling. How he talked about himself, and the fake-grandiose talk, just all the talking. The gait of a gnome in legs far too long for him. That big grin made just Scanlan’s size that fit this face just right, but not right enough.
She does not say any of that. Maybe because, who fucking knows, he might do this again. And she might need to use these tricks again.
“Well, darling.” Vex’ahlia drowns her drink (her own nails go tink) and throws it back with deliberate nonchalance. Scanlan surely sees through it just as she saw through him. “I know you. So.”
“We all do,” Vax’ildan interjects at her shoulder.
Fuck! When did he vanish? How long has he been back? She realizes she’s decently tipsy when she actually gives him the satisfaction of jumping.
“You fuck!”
Vax grins, clapping her on the shoulder. “Barkeep gave me a bottle so we’d leave and stop freaking out her waitstaff with all the day drinking.” His eyes flit towards Scanlan, who was regarding them warmly. Like he missed this. The gnome-but-not deflates as Vax says, “Oy, Scanlan. Mind if Stubby and I just have a drink, us two?”
“Of course not. The hugging was getting a bit much.” Like he could make them stay, in her city.
Which reminds her -
“I’m glad he’s back,” Vax says quietly as the door swings shut behind them. “So glad. But - gods, what’s with all the fucking lies?”
Vex’ahlia smiles weakly. “I know, right?”
Tap-taptap-tap go her nails on her finger, where a ring would rest.

Monk and dwarf for the CR ask game 😄
Dwarf: what's your favorite one shot?
I gotta be basic and say the M9 vs VM battle royale. It was just....so perfect. So perfect. It had everything I ever wanted in it! I especially loved that Taliesin played both Percy and Molly. That was super fun to watch!
Monk: what's your favorite Canon relationship?
Let me just say I'm a Caleb stan first and human being second. He and Essek just have this wonderfully, wildly tender relationship going on and I am here. for. it. I just, ohhhh the potential, the reality, the everything. I love them so much. They changed each other in such profound ways!!!
