Design and concept belongs to Matthew Mercer and Critical Role
Essek’s Estate has come up in the show, but has never actually been seen except in theatre of mind. I’ve created maps based on Matt’s descriptions and my own interpretations - with a bit of flair!
Feel free to download and use them for non-commercial games! Our group of friends got together and made a party consisting entirely of Essek Thelyss’ staff, who then had to survive the horrors of.... working for the legendary Shadowhand! 👀 It can’t be THAT hard, right? Just a bit of political intrigue....
(Maybe I’ll write up the adventure and publish it someday....)
These maps are free to use for your home games, but may not be distributed for commercial purposes except by the Critical Role company who own the concept.
watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.
like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.
Laudna freaking out about Imogen being gone for less than two hours and Imogen going over to hug her to calm her down!
FUCK ANYONE WHO NEGATIVELY ATTACKS THEM FOR HAVING AN UNHEALTHY ATTACHMENT TO EACH OTHER. MAYBE YOU DON'T LIKE IT BUT I'M HAVING A GREAT TIME. I HOPE THEY ONLY GET MORE CLINGY.
Robbie Daymond gifted 50 subs in chat on Matt's map room unpacking stream, and somebody must’ve told Matt about it, because he mouthed “Robbie!” And did heart hands into the camera, and held up the new Dorian mini 🥺🥺🥺
So here’s the deal - I went a little off the rails and decided to design Essek’s entire towers for a little group project. It’s mostly just to see how well I can design and draw TTRPG maps from scratch, but I also realized that maybe people would be interested in this. So this is... a teaser!
Full disclosure - the maps are not quite ready yet. (Or rather... they are...... but I’m not gonna post them yet. For reasons.)
If you’re interested, watch this space, I guess? Or follow me. I will post them by the end of March, and then you can unfollow me again.
Why am I posting this before the maps are actually available?
Bait. It’s bait. I just want to share SOME PART OF IT because I’ve been working on this for several weeks and I’m quite proud of the result!
(There will be four maps in total, one per floor, plus a little bonus map, perhaps, of a fifth, secret floor. We’ll see.)
I'm glad we have a firm answer about how Artagan's affected by the Malleus Key's effects but I now need to know how the Luxon's handling it more than ever. What's the Dynasty up to. Vasselheim is religiously governed but like, by rotating appointment, and their gods can talk to them. Meanwhile there's a beacon in the key itself and the Dynasty's a theocratic monarchy. How's the divine right of kings holding up these days, Leylas.
The original draft of the Menagerie Coast from Matthew Mercer for @criticalrole and the finished map I made for them. I love taking his already amazing maps & adding my style to them.
also more beauyasha doodles from like a week or so ago bc the bfs hyperfixation continues to spread to me……… still feeling out how to draw these 2 but ill get there
