if i post my crochet work on here will ppl actually engage with it bc i want PRAISE i want FEEDBACK i want INSPIRATION but no one gives that on instagram
So, uh, I broke out the textile yarn and did a solid (5 rounds of double crochet; corners made by using triple crochets) granny square
Did one round of single crochet as a border and then continued with double crochets perpendicular to the square into those single crochets
I now have a 28 x 28 cm basket with a 5cm border around it
I might post the progress and finished photos but first I need to wait to get two more bobbins(?)
I didn’t think I’d like this color but actually Hoooked RibbonXL Spicy Ocre looks good for a basket/ drawstring bag
The bottom corner is keeping shape better than I expected given how simple “tilt 90° and crochet around the single crochets” was as an approach; I mean I worked “between” the double crochets and the outer corner of the single crochet, around those “necks” of the single crochets
I hate you overpriced designer clothes, I hate you luxury brands, I hate you sweat shops, I hate anything wearable costing more than someone’s rent, I hate you designer clothes made to look poor, I hate you “punk aesthetic”, I hate you designer brands.
From the same commission in December as the lobster, the client requested Hobie Brown aka Spider-Punk from Across the Spider-Verse. He has so many details that I spend hours working on, plus a hand painted (by my partner) 3D printed guitar.
hi hi hi this is a request!! could i ask for hobie with a reader who is obssessed with crocheting things? when the two started dating, the reader sent him crocheted stuff as gifts. Ex: crocheted flowers, crocheted plushies, and the rest is up to you. :)
quick question tho do you think hobie would like homemade plushies?? I know he's all punk rock and stuff but he has a kind heart.
but anyway take all the time you need on this one! It's completely understandable if you don't wanna do this. have a good day/night !
cws: none!!
a/n: hi my love!!! thanks so much for requesting!!! hope you enjoy!!!
omg he finds it so cute
he really respects your patience for crochet, and loves that you have a hobby that makes you happy
does he like crochet plushies? uh- YEAH!!! anything you make for him he keeps. absolutely. he personalises them a little, like the plushies you make for him often have little spiked collars and patches
he also takes plushies on missions and sends photos of them on lil adventures hfbfjd its so cute
he actually kinda digs your flowery/pastel/soft crochet vibes in contrast with his punk vibes. they complement each other well, he thinks. like, he has a lil crochet kitty keychain you made him that he clipped to his jeans. he calls him bob :] but yeah he just loves it, and he loves you and just UGH baby
he didn't realise that you giving him gifts was your version of flirting, so it took a lot of gifts for him to realise. when you did start dating, the gifts increased and he was honestly thrilled
he also loves that you make gifts and don't buy them because fuck capitalism
if/when you set up a small business or shop he promotes the hell out of it and is so proud and supportive of you and always gives you new ideas
he loves your creativity, it's one of his favourite things about you <3
So, I tried to make two of the cardigans mentioned in @softest-punk 's fic Once Upon a Time as worn by Dream. (The emphisis is on "tried".)
First, the one with the dinosaurs:
I searched for fabric with dinosaurs online and ordered some. Unfortunately, the inner side was not black as I had thought, which meant I had to add black fabric to the inside. This made things a bit more complicated, especially since I can't be bothered to figure out don't know how to use a sewing machine, so I stitched this thing together by hand. Despite repeatedly trying it on during the process I somehow managed to make it too small in some places as well as fitting the shoulder part so weirdly together that it now sits barely comfortable. I am tempted to retry by buying a black cardigan and embroider dinosaurs on that (if I ever find the patience to learn how to).
The second one was the black one with the rainbow edge. This one I crocheted:
As you can see, I overcompensated, so this one is way too big. It's also super heavy and I used like 80 bucks worth of wool to finish it. Technically I tried to follow this tutorial, but I made so many mistakes and alterations that it's barely recognisable. (Also fun fact: because the wool I used for the border was half as thick as the black one I used two strings in one. That plus constantly having to change colour means the border on each sleeve took 2h and the one around the main part about 10h, which was definitely a lot more than I had expected.)
Anyway, hope you guys like it, especially you @softest-punk
