Cuprite - The Stone of Dreams

There's something about this piece of stone that makes it quite significant when entering the dream realm. When entering a dream realm the color red is very predominant around your astral bodies because of your genetic makeup and the current dimension of where your physical body dwells.

Cuprite assists in more autonomy when operating your dreams and allows the user to become more conscious of what's happening around them. So instead of things in your dreams happening to you in your dreams you consciously make them happen. Also aids with fatigue so it is best to sleep with this stone near you because it will pull in more energies from the Earth that will enter through your root chakra and swirl to your upper chakras and circle back down creating a revitalizing effect.

Wear this stone in July of 2023 to have the best effects this year.

Alright! I had a lot of fun figuring Evil X out, probably bc of him being one of my blorbos.

Evil X has a lot of 'theories' surrounding what he is and I've seen some variations. He and X are siblings, they're X's clone, he's a glitched version of X, they're X's hels. etc etc. And so trying to figure out what to do for him.

While I already borrowed sweetest-honeybee's design in the second part of my Zed/WM gemcyt post, I didn't want to do like that and make him corrupted. I know the gemcyt stuff seems to play with corruption a little looser, but it still didn't feel right. So, I went researching and found a fun lil mix that seems to fit well.

First off, the closest thing you can get to a glitch in terms of gems is being off-color. I mean technically you glitch when you're cracked, but we're not doing that. Anyway, off-color gem Evil X, which is why there's the gem comparison. Next, the clone/hels part. I don't mention it on the sheet, but specifically, I think of this Evil X as a sort of gem experiment. No wait wait don't leave let me explain!

We saw that there were gem experiments of some type on the show. They were more fusion experiments using shards, and were experiments for the cluster (which technically don't work since they only emerged slightly before the cluster so there was no telling if they worked and if then the cluster would work). Also on the show, we're told that there's a resource problem on Homeworld which results in 'Era 2' gems like Peridot, who don't have all the abilities a normal gem would have. Also also in the show, when Steven and Lars are with the off colors on Homeworld, we see the kindergartens there. And while there are normal holes, there are also holes that overlap, as well as holes that look like there's been a chunk scooped out of them.

The analogy I could think of was like when you're making cookies. you roll out the dough, get a cookie cutter, and get all the cookies, but assuming you weren't using a square cutter, there's extra dough left between the cuts. Instead of just leaving it, usually you reroll it to cut out more cookies. Well, why can't Homeworld try the same?

Evil X is meant to be an experiment on if Homeworld can successfully do that. They scooped out extra rock from a kindergarten or two, compressed it into a new boulder, then used an injector on it. Eventually after a long while, out came Evil X. And that whole thing also leans into the clone thing because I imagine some of the scooped rock was from part of where Xisuma emerged.

Anyway, with all that, I originally thought about making Evil X look similar to Amethyst's pseudo buff reformation, but trying to draw that was a mess. I meant to go back and make him look a little more lopsided, but you'll have to just imagine that. Whoops. At the very least he has the funky stripes. I imagine that's probably from where the different rock pieces met or something, and since it wasn't as solid as regular rock, he was like that.

Coloring him was tough, but eventually I just copied Xisuma over, inverted his colors, and then shifted the hue to be more red. I considered making the green parts more black, but it didn't fit, so they're just more purpley to show that Xisuma connection or smthn.

Speaking of his gem, I show what I picture a normal Cuprite to look like. Meanwhile Evil X's is a bit misshapen, as well as that darker area that mimics the one reference I had. specifically that darker bit is chrysocolla, but he's still just cuprite.

Instead of a mask, he's just got a visor similar to what we've seen with Peridot and Doc and technically those zircons. And also instead of a mask he has those... blade things. Look, the best name i could find for them were blade gauntlets, but they look more like sword brass knuckles to me so I don't know. Also yes they are based on a weapon a digimon had, what of it?

And then, he is hella amethyst coded. Popped out of his rock thing in a chamber under the kindergarten (similar to the other experiments in the show) with no one around. He was an experiment and uses rock from different gems and is off color, so he doesn't know what he's for. Doesn't even know what diamond he should belong to, so that's why he's got a grey one on his chest. And there's a lot of little things and ideas for him that are inspired by Amethyst's characterization on the show, to the point I was planning a screenshot redraw even before I had his and Xisuma's designs even close to finalized.

I also have a fic I'm working on with him and Gemsuma, as well as that quick Jevin design plus a few teeny tiny references to other people's gem designs. If my adhd allows it, i should post that 1 shot fic tomorrow.

do you base any gem designs off unknown gems that appeared in the series? and if so do you have any interests in making interpretations of the statues of the sky arena?

Of course, like Cuprite, Maxixe, Rhodochrosite, Turquoise... are examples of that. And well, my interpretation for the Sky Arena statues are Zirconias, from the Cloud Arena (Pearl's Arena), I interpret them as Moissanites

Okay so Sonora Sunrise. All I really did was change the eye's shadow color. To me, yellow feels more menacing + color variety. The gemstone was simplified to be easier to draw. I wasn't sure if the gemstone was a forced fusion but if it did, all I would have done was adding another line from the gem's lineart where the green and dark blue touches. Boots' colour were changed to match the upper part + given different lineart to show that they're armor (I think?).

At first I thought the weapon was a sword but since it didn't have a handle I assumed it was a club. Simplified it and removed the inner lineart because SU style be like that.

I'm sure I messed up the proportions because they now feel smaller than they actually are. Oops ^^'

For advice (observe as I say picky thing!)

I don't know know why some parts have shading and some don't. Like, that's oddly detailed and nothing else? I can't really complain about anything else. The designs have some really neat color combinations, proportions feel balanced and with variety. It is good character design, all I can do is encouraging you to keep drawing and experimenting to find what you're comfortable with!

And while Chrysocolla being a "Proto-Peridot" is fun, Cuprite is not a type of Quartz. BUT it is a toxic gem 👀

The only people Roier has ever fused with are Cellbit and Jaiden because he trusts them the most. Roier and Jaiden's fusion is Pink Tourmaline and Cellbit and Roier's fusion is Unakite

Bad rarely fuses with anyone because his trust issues and his logic of strength in numbers. However, if there was a time where he absolutely HAD to fuse with someone, he would fuse with Baghera, Forever, or both. His fusion with Baghera would be andalusite, his fusion with Forever would be yellow apatite, and their combined fusion would be Enstatite.

I feel like if the Smiling Critters were characters in Steven Universe, this is what I believe what gem they would be:

TDC/SU AU: The Skeksis and Gelfling

(Note, this is not hyper accurate to SU lore. Just vibe with it y’all.)

Thra is a planet under the rule of Algodonite, the Empress of the Metamorphic Court. 

A result of failed experimentation by Homeworld. The original goal was to split a group of lesser Diamonds to clone them. However, this resulted in the loss of 18 natural Diamonds. They each split into two distinct Gems, none of which mirrored their former glory. Fusion is required to return to their previous state, but the Metamorphic Gems stubbornly refuse. They believe they are the stronger half, fooling themselves into thinking they can become Diamonds without Fusion.

Their counterparts are the Prism Gems. Lead by Shell Agate the Mistress.

While most are still withdrawn, a few of the Prism Gems have reached out to work with the humans that have broken away from the rule of the Metamorphic Court. While they cannot change what their species has done, they feel they need to help save the planet they had a hand in destroying.

Currently, three humans are also considered honorary Prisms.

Rian was born into a long line of guards that served the Metamorphic Court. He accidentally witnessed the Court he protected as they carried out an experiment on his beloved Mira. They were trying to see if a human soul could fill the void left by the Division. While it seems to work temporarily, it doesn’t last forever and kills the human in the process. While this fact doesn’t deter the Court, it sets Rian on his quest to save his planet.

Brea is from a royal bloodline, appointed by the Court to govern the other humans in their stead. She’s deeply curious by nature, and has a thirst for knowledge. This is what leads her to question the Court’s intentions. After seeing a horrible event where members of her people were forced to hand over family heirlooms, she sought the truth. What use are human artifacts to a Gem? These thoughts lead her to a strange, semi-sentient creature by the name of Dolerite. With their help, she joins the Prism’s in their quest to save Thra.

Deethra, also known as Deet, is from a small group of humans that live in a former Kindergarten. She’s deeply in tune with the natural world, often tasked with feeding the farm animals that sustain her remote village. After being attacked by a rampaging bull, Deet woke at the base of the Sanctuary Tree. A living database of Homeworld history, with full sentience. It’s unclear why the Great Trees are aiding the Prism Rebellion. Some think the Trees know they will die along with Thra if the Court is allowed to continue. The Sanctuary Tree gifts Deet with a vision of the future, and sets her on her path to join the Rebellion. Along the way, she befriends a Pebble that goes by Hup. While technically a Gem, Pebbles are treated like slaves. Hup escaped, and she intends to do whatever it takes to help save Thra.

A being by the name of Aughra is now organizing the Rebellion…in her own strange way. She seems to be a physical representation of Thra itself.

Harry/dora - Ludlamite

Harry/jean - Bornite

All of this is more so just the concept of gems as a living being rather than any of the plot of SU, so it's not gonna be like how certain gems have certain jobs, I mostly based it on their colors in game OR colors I associated with them and vibes from the gem

Harry's placement is representative of his relationship to the world around him. A nod to both his past cruelty as an RCM officer and his past kindness as a teacher and coach. As well as the fact that, at least what I see of Harry in the game, he tends to give all of himself into the things he does and what better way to symbolize it than to put the entirety of his being (his gem) on his hand. The egg shape is representative of his new beginnings and capacity to change because of the amnesia

I originally wanted to place it on Kims solar plexus chakra, so just under the ribs, to symbolize his sense of self and his confidence (at least in contrast to Harry). But I decided to change it to the root chakra, the base of his spine, to represent the stability he offers to Harry in the game, Kim is a source of balance to Harry during the case and Kim himself is very stable and even. But placing it on his back also represents his vulnerabilities and his weakness at the tribunal when trying to tend to Harrys leg he doesn't prioritize his own safety and turns his back to the danger

I chose his cheek because it felt right. Specifically Jean felt to me like a character where 'turn the other cheek' felt like a phrase fitting him, whether that be the semi implied past he's had of doing so to Harry, or the direct instance of him being unable/unwilling to turn the other cheek in the final tribunal for Harry's screw ups pre game.

Trant's is in the throat chakra spot because it represents communication and he talks a lot :)

Judit's is kinda representative of her attempt at distance from Harry in the whirling, trying to turn a cold shoulder to someone she's unfamiliar and uncomfortable with

Dora is the third eye chakra for representation on intellect and to be in the same place as Dolores' gem was

Klassje is also because of the chakra and the representation of intelligence and intuition, as well as to connect her with Dolores as she's another woman Harry semi idolizes

Titus is because, to me, the chest feels like a spot of strength and courage, and is a place he keeps covered when coming face to face with Harry, making it a representation of the defense he has around Harry and his desire to keep his community safe from the law

Dolores is because the forehead has always been representstive of inellect and knowledge, something she's said to have lots of, as well as most of human history associating the head with power and glory (think crowns to represent important figures) - HM anon

FUCK YESSSS all of this rules so hard i am internalizing it. thinking about harry rediscovering what his gem weapon is . thinking about the fusion capabilities. rubyklaasje "we just fused, nothing else happened." thinking about harry getting fucking poofed and then reforming.

the fact you even thought of the cuts is!! so cool to me!! god god god i love all these sm . making me think really hard about SU again and the interesting ways that imagining the people as gems could affect their dynamics.....

btw piss has an uncut citrine on his left thigh and fuck has an oval cut rubellite tourmaline on the back of his left hand : )) those r just my gut feelings

Can i have a job/purpose (ex: pearls being servants) for a Lazulite, Cuprite and Kunzite?

Hmmm... I'm not super great at jobs but I'll try!!

Lazulite: perhaps an aristocrat? I can't quite come up with anything else- there's a similar gemstone named lazurite that's part of the rock lapis lazuli- it might be kind of funny if those two gems helped out lapis lazulis in their terraforming duties?

Cuprite: cuprite is often used as a source for copper- perhaps these guys help out making metal Gems, similar to the Reef?

Kunzite: kunzite is a spodumene, and the other spodumene in the show, while corrupted, is capable of burrowing underneath soil and swimming to great depths. Perhaps these gems dug out terrain for tunnel systems or infrastructure?
