I drew a Jim
Okay so I was waiting for like a month or two to do some fanart of trollhunters and I couldn’t wait any longer (curse my lack of motivation and sick days) and just had to draw something. More to come I guess.

Spider's Big Prometheus Thing: Index Post
Being a list of all the posts produced in the course of this inexplicable project of mine. This project is now complete, at an unexpectedly extensive thirty entries long.
I swear, I didn't intend for it to go like that, but it was fun to write.
All entries have at least a minimum level of citations for where to start looking for more facts on any subject external to the movie itself, which includes everything from how DNA is sequenced to how Nickolodeon slime is made, and from the comedy in mislabeled portraits of early church fathers to the correct attribution of a cat's contributions to historical linguistics.
Be aware that there's also hidden rambling and bonus facts in the image alt text. A lot of them.
0. Introduction
Setting the scene, including my background, my intent, and where this movie is going.
1. Opening
Expectations, landscapes, and aliens.
Rambles: DNA, whether aliens would have it, and why it doesn't look like a pale bacon ladder.
Alt-text rambles: nano-bubbles.
2. Discovery
The Isle of Skye is gorgeous, the movie attempts to establish its themes, and why it had already got my hackles up. Rambles: how cool ancient and pre-modern peoples were, the implications of humanoid figures in European cave paintings, and misplaced lions. Alt-text rambles: seriously, Skye is just so cool. Erich von Däniken and modern publishing royalties are not.
3. David
We meet the loneliest android, and his fandom of choice. Rambles: I go nuts for a paragraph over Proto-Indo-European. Alt-text rambles: Help me remember a dude's name, that time Ron Perlman saw Sigourney Weaver do something so cool he forgot to act, and a Coronation Street conspiracy theory.
4. Humans (Derogatory)
We meet the human crew, and analyze why they're a mismatch to the movie's established expectations, and what subgenre they fit in most. It isn't the one the movie seems to be aiming for. Rambles: 50s B-movies and their Men Of Science, modern movies and their quietly suffering scientists. Alt-text rambles: inconsistently moist characters, Idris Elba's christmas tree decorations.
5. Pseudoarchaeology (Extremely Derogatory)
We meet Old Man Capitalism, poor logistics, and how the movie began to really lose me through dropping in some racist pseudoscience tropes. Rambles: more logistics (of alien bioengineering), historical art styles, what the world was getting up to in the 600s CE Alt-text rambles: Linguistics, more ranting, the life and extraordinarily ornate death of Kʼinich Janaabʼ Pakal. Rants: the existence of writing, people who don't look like you can still think, stargazing and how conspiracy theorists don't understand it.
6. Roads
Poor firearm safety with Chekhov's Gun, when movies move too fast, atmospheric chemistry, and the moment I began to yearn for blood. Rambles: First contact protocols, why 3% CO₂ won't kill you but it will make you weird, my personal experience digging up a Roman road. Alt-text rambles: the logistics of securing items in moving craft, linguistics, atmospheric science, colorblind-friendly diagram design, swearing about orology, and cursing the crew for their fictional crimes against archaeology. Rants: Why they should've stayed in orbit, and my impassioned defense of historically significant transportation infrastructure.
7. Masking
The bit that made most people realize these characters were idiots. Featuring an attempt at themes. Rambles: NASA's policies on biological contaminants Alt-text rambles: Benedict Wong having nothing to do, helmet design, driving on dusty track, the tiny overlap between archaeological horrors and Minecraft, the CDC's excellent captions on men sneezing. Rants: Nominating a man for the Heinrich Schliemann Archaeology Award, all these people are catching space covid
8. Ghosts
Comparing the Engineers to their series antecedents, and I develop a slight soft spot for the geologist. Rambles: Set design in Alien, how carbon dating works. Alt-text rambles: Adventure games, GET DOWN MISTER PRESIDENT, I get very excited for Dune: Part Two, the archival devotion of people with rare blorbos.
9. Dignity
Personal, professional, social, and media context for the treatment of people's remains. Rambles: Personal experiences around the archaeological discovery of human skeletons, professional codes of ethics, movies that handle dead bodies better by being more crass about it. Alt-text rambles: None, the main text gets full focus this time.
10. Atmosphere
How intertextual imagery is overused, how the one major character arc is developing, and a whole grab bag of miscellaneous shambolic events. Rambles: How tourist-breath can destroy artifacts, and a deleted scene Alt-text rambles: Whether explaining mysteries is always the wrong decision in fantasy, the usefulness of helmets, Mass Effect's loading screens, please someone give me more recommendations for things where Giger creatures aren't all bad, and how cultural variation in gestures can make you look like an asshole. Rants: they aren't done desecrating the dead oh boy it's just gonna get worse
11. Decontamination
How to present an audience with events that make no sense, how to do it eerily, and how Prometheus does this by accident. Rambles: NASA's Apollo 11 quarantine policies Alt-text rambles: How 2001: A Space Odyssey put on a cosmic lightshow, how traditions are faked for political and social power in Midsommar, confusing lab equipment, robot arm safety, the use of camper vans in space exploration, umarell behavior, and robot horror movies. Bonus text rambles: pressurized gas cylinder safety, and how the cargo of one truck apparently tried to join Roscosmos. Rants: Laboratory safety
12. Shocking
Mary Shelly would not be proud of them. Rambles: Which home electrical appliances their tomfoolery is equivalent to. Alt-text rambles: Semiotics and Alien, reuse of props and art department equipment, the cast's inability to look at things, how the first chestburster scene intelligently incorporated spontaneity, and I completely lose my mind over a single computer readout, finding out in the process that the Engineers are close cousins to the common house mouse. Rants: I didn't think that "don't stick electrical plugs in people's ears" would be something that needed to be said, but here we are.
13. Family Tree
A soothing ramble about some of the cool bits of my job. Rambles: How evolution has made some vertebrate blood white or green, how genomes are sequenced, and how to determine the relatedness of species. And more. A lot more. I love my job. It's so cool. Alt-text rambles: How Nickelodeon slime was made, how hecking tiny molecules are, why blue-tongued skinks have blue tongues, my review of Dune: Part Two, how hard I worked to not turn Gene Wilder into a jumpscare, lots of enthusiastic explanations of DNA sequencing techniques, the aesthetics of the machines wot do that for you, how "snip" no longer sounds like a verb to me, and how I started out as a computational scientist.
14. Cheers
David poisons a man, and how his character arc ties into christian-influenced existential dread. Rambles: series continuity, gnostic theology, Ridley Scott's beliefs. Alt-text rambles: How to ruin petri dishes, Vickers' questionably carbon-based existence, the game of Operation, hand doubles in filming, how the funniest possible misidentification of an early church figure is wandering around the internet, the cool genders of suit actors, gnostic Archons, and the Engineers as Sophia. Rants: Holloway seems unaware that archaeologists study dead people, Ridley Scott is his own biggest problem.
15. Unworthy
The movie does something I'm not going to joke about. Don't read this if you're having a bad day. Big content warning for Holocaust imagery.
16. Intimacy
Your asexual commentator grapples with Hollywood's terrible track record on romantic and sexual chemistry. Rambles: Why we don't say an archaic-looking species is "older" than another, how religious scientists do what they do Alt-text rambles: the human family tree, Abbott and Costello, pitcher plant cultivars, the creative possibilities of a Buddhist version of this movie, and Stephen Still's lack of accordions. Rants: I've never been a boyfriend but I'm pretty sure that's not how you do it
17. Threat
Prometheus takes a hard turn into old slasher movie tropes. Rambles: A movie trailer that gave Wee Spider the screaming heebies Alt-text rambles: The age rating of Prometheus, a spontaneous X-Files crossover AU, Pitch Black, how likely it may or may not be that the images in the post will get flagged, critter behavior, insufficient EVA suit design, and the content balancing I take into account when selecting screenshots. Rants: This movie does not seem to know what it is. Alt-text rants: Ditto, focusing on characterization.
18. Flames
"Mac wants the flamethrower!" Rambles: I wandered off in the middle to watch a 40k comedy video, does that count? Alt-text rambles: More content-balancing, what kind of very English critter David appears to be, dune buggy design, Star Wars: The Old Republic is worth your time, Dune: Part Two is worth your time, an extremely long ramble about integration of CG background elements, and Oblivion memes. Alt-text rants: Movie color grading and lighting, undercutting scares.
19. Stars
The movie shows how good it can be when no dialog is involved. Rambles: The movie Contact and how Prometheus could've learned from it. Alt-text rambles: How I estimate large numbers from a still image, a brief Baldur's Gate 3 appearance, the set design and staging of a room made for giants with squishy computers, the use of color to make a cohesive scene, facts about Uranus, visual intimation of threat, VFX wizardry, practical FX wizardry, Michael Fassbender's wordless acting.
20. Expectant
The movie shows how good it can be when character choice is removed from the horror. Rambles: the inspiration and place of chestbursting in Alien movies, the continuing religious symbolism in the movie, the clunky dialog, how to build or undermine tension, and the good blending of practical and CG effects, and how tiny creatures of the ocean manage to be more uncanny than horror critters. Alt-text rambles: reading details the prop department never meant for you to see. Alt-text Rants: the return of the head-exploder and the first sight of actual PPE, slowly mangling a plot point's name until it has been thoroughly folded, spindled, and mutilated.
21. Underdelivered
The movie shows how terrible it can be when horror doesn't build tension. Rambles: Contortionists in horror, hillbilly horror/hixploitation movies. Alt-text rambles: Resident Evil 7, Dead Space and "strategic dismemberment"
22. Hubris
The movie tries to do some themes again Rambles: my ineffable desire to genetically sequence ditch weeds, Left Behind Alt-text rambles: Brad Dourif's commitment to the bit in The Two Towers, nigh-invisible wheelchair product placement, the Fallout series in general and the upcoming show in particular, praise for an epic-length critique of Left Behind, Robert Zemeckis' bizarre quest to mocap everything Rants: This movie does a terrible job representing both religiosity and atheism
23. Informed
Exposition is delivered, and plot points try to knit together. Rambles: The Silent Hill movie, Pacific Rim Alt-text rambles: Pyramid Head's secret unclothed backside, demanding environmental enrichment for scientists, greebling, Tumblr's favorite shitty copper merchant Rants: What could've been done instead of an exposition dump and daddy issues Alt-text rants: these people and their interior design are tempting fate and testing my patience
24. Inscribed
I go rogue and ramble about constructed languages and cuneiform for an entire post. Guest appearances from Klingon pop music and a delightfully eccentric Assyriologist. Rambles: All of it. Alt-text rambles: the self-awareness of conlangers, fingernail length, Schleischer's Fable as a warm-up for the next section, my primary conlang derangement, speculation about whether cuneiform was legible for the blind, my beef with the cowards at Lucasfilm for refusing to use Star Wars' coolest letters, my love for Warframe's Grineer, going into far too much detail about redesigning Prometheus' Engineer script, and finally, the many crocodiles of ancient egyptian hieroglyphs. Rants: None/all of it
25. Judgement
We discuss some of what the movie doesn't. Rambles: Fiction and morality, Blade Runner, biblical allusions the story could've made and doesn't Alt-text rambles: Lance Henriksen's insane career, the paintings of John Martin and a surprise George Washington, Rutger Hauer's effect on Blade Runner, my tentative plans for the next essay series. Rants: Germs, old man makeup. Alt-text Rants: The characters are reading ahead in the script again, the half-assed Engineer writing system continues to hurt me
26. Awoken
I go bananas over PIE. Rambles: fix-it fic for this damned movie, PIE, how to avoid PIE, how to analyze PIE, and my personal alternative to PIE. Alt-text rambles: calculating how long the Engineer's overslept, their potential spiritual kinship to Moominpapa, behind the scenes photos of the suit actors, Prometheus rants in the days of LiveJournal, the game Hades, how hard it personally is to get PIE right, the linguistics nerdery of the Hittite empire, and watermarks. Rants: how the movie fails its premise and hurts my soul with linguistics
27. Shortcomings
The characters, and movie, fail to get their message across to someone bent on their destruction. Rambles: David's confused religious symbolism, Star Trek Alt-text rambles: My desire for fanfic, behind the scenes photos, what other critters the Engineer's suit actor has played, the naming of Australopithecines, crash-proofing a movie set, alien gender, Gandahar and how French animated SF in the 80s was awesome, Scorn and its expert consultation from a cenobite, and Doctor Strangelove. Rants: the assumptions of the human characters, I go from trying to be measured to actively spiting the writer for his take on thoughtful SF Alt-text Rants: Del Toro is the only one who gets me, the movie has forgotten its main character just had a major surgery, one last rant about how terribly unsafe the Prometheus was as a ship, before it becomes definitively not a ship.
28. Momentum
It's the bit where she doesn't turn. Rambles: How to fix the dumbest thing we've seen in a hot minute, Edge of Tomorrow and feeling Tom Cruise's fear, how the dead thing is never really dead in horror. Alt-text rambles: How hard it is to find the most catchy song in We Love Katamari, more behind the scenes pictures of my blorbos, Friday the 13th Part IV, bad braille, and trilobites. Rants: I mean how can you not when the movie forgets how space works? Like, the idea of 3D space as a concept? Also, a particular rock earns my ire, and my ranting about interior designs on ships finally pays off.
29. Dissonance
The ending of the movie, and its tonal incoherency. Rambles: Protagonist-centric morality and lack thereof Alt-text rambles: Star Trek TNG, green blood, caecilian teeth. Rants: shallow christian themes, sequels that could have been, Shaw's confusingly deployed robo-racism Alt-text rants: sequel disappointments, inadvisable post-caesarian activities, how the hell do you fit that much 'burster into one chest, biological plausibility in alien extend-o-mouths
30. Justification
A breakdown of a post-release interview with Ridley Scott, explaining some missing details. Rambles: Gnosticism again, Mesoamerican and European human sacrifice and the exoticization of shared cultural practices, and a hearty book recommendation. Alt-text rambles: Icelandic volcanoes, The Collector (2009), Stephen Speilberg's War of the Worlds and how scaring the shit out of someone isn't necessarily the job of a horror film, the Tollund Man, unique cultural practices, Hello Future Me, and my opinions on what we've seen of Alien: Romulus. Rants: Ancient peoples weren't stupid, an unexamined christian-centric worldview, an unexamined christian-centric worldview, I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGh

What was zhao's character designing process like?
Hello! Thanks for asking, I'll try to keep this as simple as humanly possible-
-the beginning stages of Zhao's character
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ignore the bad quality of the pictures, I was lazy-)
I've actually had Zhao for quite a few years now, but I think these drawings I made like 9 months ago are the oldest ones that I could find. As you can probably see, in the begging she was a primarily jttw OC, I remember being super into OSP (which I still am), so when I started watching their jttw series I immediately got to making an OC because I really liked the world and all.
There's not much to say about the design honestly. But I will say why the hair changed, back then, her hair was very tiger-y but why has it changed so much if she's still a tiger? Well it's because back then I actually really liked the hair, but as time went on I thought it was way too much. However I really got attached to the whole "Cursed for disobeying your family so that you can never forget about them when you look at your own face.", so I decided to keep the orange hair just remove the details.
However a lot of the drawings you will see still have the stripes, but you'll see how they became more and more simple over time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(note: All of the drawings you will see of her old design are pretty old so my art skills have improved-)
When I just started watching lmk I already knew I wanted to change up her character a bit. So I did a mini re-design. Again not much to say about her design except that I wanted it to look very demon-y (because she actually used to be a tiger demoness)
However I felt she was too "soft", so I changed up her character a bit to be more cold and "mature", because I wanted her to have a bigger contrast in personality with Sun Wukong. I'll get into that later :>
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as you can see I was still experimenting with certain designs but in the end I ended up with the last one for a while.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then something awoke in me and I was finally like: This hair is mad complicated let's simplify this sucker-
So some (a lot of) experimenting:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(as you can see I've got a very inconsistent style)
And with that I eventually got this kinda design:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, this is was the start of a ✨new era✨
(you can still see these drawings up on my blog if you scroll down enough-)
And this design stuck for a while until I made a certain drawing for a certain @/camhues 👀
Tumblr media
At this time I have started reading Circe and was very inspired by her character :0
She changed from being cold to more motherly. She's still mature but more clever, compassionate and caring. (yet still pathetic in my eyes). One of my friends here on tumblr @/doppel-doodles explained her PERFECTLY- "A fierce tigress in the body of a gentle mother cat" (like who gave them the right-), this explains her character very well because despite being very peaceful she's still a strong sorceress-
Now, Zhao is still kinda quiet and reserved considering her unhealthy past. But that ties a bit more into her connection with Wukong, which I'll get into in a bit.
I wanted Zhao to seem more "out of place", back then she just seemed like a basic bish girlboss OC and like someone who would make a good background character-
I also decided to give her a full name (because my dumb ahh realized Zhao is a Chinese SURNAME-) so I decided on Zhaoyan, also funfact Zhao's father used to call her "Zhaodi" because that name means "requesting a brother" (Because sexism yaaayyyyyy-)
My Zhao design is also heavily inspired by @/gigizetz Circe design, and her hair is very much inspired by Rapunzel from tangled-
And so yeah, then we got to her current design
Tumblr media
While I can't really give anymore specific references, I can tell you a bit on how I settled on this design :D
Note: I wanted her to have a more exotic, tropical and ancient vibe if that makes sense. She is a spiritual maiden, sometimes even described as a sorceress, and considering the role I settled on giving her in the story it makes sense she would seem like "something new" or something out of the blue if you will. Even though she's a Peach Maiden, she doesn't exactly look like one, which I honestly think is really exiting to work with-
There's still some lore I haven't spilled yet that would say more about her design, but I hope to reveal that in the future!
Now, all the lore of her current character ties to one specific thing, aka her most important role in lmk- her connection to Monkey. Now as I mentioned, Zhao and Wukong were made to be opposites, or well to seem like opposites (one is chaotic and one is calm). Also the mear fact that the Chinese monkey zodiac and Chinese tiger zodiac are specifically referred to as not being able to get along so well.
But in reality they're quite similar, both get over looked because of their unthreatening personalities despite being really damn powerful. Both kinda stand out in physical appearance too compared to the other characters, and look alike in a way (same ginger hair and golden eyes). And not to mention they both push others away from them because of their pasts despite caring a lot.
A fun part about writing Zhao's character is she also serves as a way to find out more about Sun Wukong and jttw as a whole while still being her own character.
So yeah, that's basically it! Sorry for this being so fricking long I like rambling about my girl- (no I do not have a favorite lmk OC wdym?)
Fell free to ask more questions they're always fun as hell to answer!! :D

Do you have any tips on character designs
So many! Character design is my favourite thing and something I've learned is that there is beauty in simplicity. Simple shapes repeated (loosely, usually) throughout a character tend to lead to more cohesive designs; in reference to my Beetlejuice design he's shaped roughly like a pineapple chunk, head and body. And simple colours, palettes of 3-7 colours, work best; one colour that takes up most of the character, two supporting colours, and then (if desired) small amounts of any additional colours. Keeping colours close together on the colour wheel makes them look more unified and then I like to toss in a colour from somewhere on the opposite side for contrast. After choosing colours you can use a colour balance option for digital pieces to "slide" the colours closer together and to a more preferable base hue i.e. make them all redder, bluer, or greener. You can also use pre-chosen palettes from a palette picker site. Also remember pointy vs round. Usually a friendly character will be round and a mean character is pointy, but you can also use that to subvert expectations and do the opposite. Another big thing is consistency vs inconsistency; something great that I was taught is that you don't have to design/render your characters in the same way. To start a character draw them as many times as many ways as possible. Everytime you draw them again take the things from the version you liked and change the things you don't until you settle somewhere. From then on try to draw them as on-model as possible. But, with all that in mind, you don't have to draw two characters from the same universe with the same levels of "realism"; once again regarding my Beetlejuice and Lydia designs, Beej has perfectly round eyes, mostly separated teeth, and implied claws while Lydia has oval and more realistically shaped eyes, solid-line teeth, and actual fingernails. I could have drawn Beej with actual claws, but I preferred the look of the implied claws because it uncluttered the design of his hands, which leads back into the fact that sometimes less is more, and simplicity can look better. And lastly, diversify. It can be really hard to try new things, and even harder to not immediately think it looks bad because you've never done it before, but recently I redesigned some of my childhood ocs and I couldn't help but think that they all looked awful because they all looked the same. Post redesigns they're all so different and it feels like character design I can actually be proud of. Same face syndrome is a curse and try not to get yourself stuck in the rut of drawing the same style of individual and/or the same pose everytime. And, to anyone who sees this, if it does come out bad just remember that all new art is growth, you're never obligated to show anyone anything you don't want to, and you'll never get better if you don't practice, so keep at it. People say there's no such thing as bad art, and, personally, I don't think that's true. Everybody has to be bad at something before they're good at it, but that doesn't make it worth less. And hopefully these tips can help others improve the way they helped me.

Does lukas from your delusion au have 4 fingers?
No, not exactly. My art style is just inconsistent and I try to do whatever looks good (so can't choose between four or five fingers, it's a curse.) Though mostly I'll try to draw five fingers

hello.
welcome to my perfectly normal tacky techy typewriter-esque page. i am your humble host, PainCaat, here to bless your eyes with absolutely wonderous works of art. pleasure to be meeting you, quite a pleasure!
a bit about me, i'm an aroace breadcat who sold their soul to the overlord of cursed content and am now obligated to ruin everyone's eyes. i recently learned about the hellaverse just as hazbin released and made a tumblr blog for the first time shortly after to shitpost and make actual art about the show. somehow, this has devolved into a blog for cursed content. i have no idea what the fuck i'm doing. free me please.

FAQ
Why did you feel the need to make ___ cursed post?
Tumblr media
Can I repost your work?
generally for personal use yes, but please ask first and include credit! the only exception to this is if you intend to use it with NSFW intent (ex. NSFW RP, commentary etc.). Just dont use my work please. it makes me highly uncomfortable to have my work attached to certain content and i will be blocking anyone who doesn't respect that
Can I request art?
feel free to drop them in my asks! i likely won't be able to get to all of them unfortunately so i will prioritize ones that i can make cursed, find funny. or can do quickly (just keep in mind i work over full time hours some weeks so there's a chance i'm not punctual with delivering depending on the nature of the request)
Commissions?
i'm still sorting out the details but i'd love to open them up! for now, if you want to commission me feel free to send me a DM and we could work something out!
Aspec Alastor?
i personally don't enjoy seeing the majority of alastor shipping content and will never make any serious shipping art. for cursed reasons or crackshipping? sometimes. (heck i don't even know how to draw a kiss properly).
that being said i do find onesided radiostatic funny at times and don't mind qpr radiorose. also its the internet, if you enjoy alastor shipping, be my guest. i just ask you to be respectful to my fellow aspecs and respect that this blog is meant to be an aspec-friendly space
Why is your art style so inconsistent?
lmao so i actually switch between using a bunch of drawing tools with varying proficiencies. i tend to do doodles on procreate or clip studio paint, and animate on krita. i would say that i'm probably best at using clip studio and krita since im more used to using a drawing tablet than a tablet screen. also i just like drawing in multiple styles for my personal art
thanks for reading - will update this as necessary :}

oh my god... I just remembered something I saw a while ago which was (not verbatim) "drawing in what I think is my ocs' art style"... maybe ill do that.. :3c
[ I ended up ranting a LOT abt my OCs' art styles and their art content below the cut, so. yea. 🧍‍♂️ ]
Roo's would probably be soft, maybe a little rough because he's not 100% into art, I kinda see his being akin to Arthur's art style when drawing animal sketches.
Leo's would be veryyyyy rough, stray bits of lead/graphite around his lines cuz he doesn't know about pencil pressure, he would struggle with straight lines and be very against having curved lines (so a lot of his drawings come out with sharp edges)
Nirvanas art style would be flowy, as aggressive as she is, she's got gentle hands (when she's not feeling murderous ahsjabs), and would feel a sort of peer pressure from herself to have a flowy art style (applicable to her hand writing, I could see her having absurd cursive)
Hero would have a VERY simple art style, but I think the content she draws would not be reflected well in her art style, very... grotesque and haunting stuff. Aside from her grotesque content, imagine something akin to... a little more sophisticated stick figures? Idk how to word it sjsjsj
Onia's art style would be very... back and forth. When drawing in her own time and by herself, her art style reflects her soft heart, soft pencil lines, and maybe a little shaky, I think her own personal drawings would be a little vent-y? So she gets emotional when drawing (hence "shaky"). But when she's drawing for someone else or drawing in public, her lines and art style *attempt* to reflect her harsh mask, more angular lines, frequently breaking her lead (she silently gets embarrassed for doing this btw) and having much darker and harsher lines overall ig
-
I know I already kinda explained what my ocs WOULD draw in some of their blocks, but I'm gonna do a (hopefully) better explanation below;
Roo wouldn't do anything extreme, probably just some basic, simple sketches of shapes with eyes, or little creatures, like cats (similar to me when doodling)
I don't think Leo ever really draws, maybe just once in a while, in which case he just draws stupid and inconsistent patterns (just doodling essentially). I can see him drawing "vent art" when hes angry, which would just be INCREDIBLY aggressive lines and doodles and words like "i hate this" or something along those lines, reflecting his rage- BUT if he WERE to be drawing anything, I do think he'd be doing anatomy practice, he wouldn't apply that anatomical knowledge anywhere, it would moreso be a form of having something to do when he's coming down from a fit of rage (strange coping mechanism but okay).
Nirvana would draw. Women. I can see her drawing the most beautiful and diverse women, in an attempt to manifest the love of her life (that "love" being any woman to ever exist), she would go into an unexplainable amount of detail for no reason, quite literally sculpting in 2D/on paper.
Hero, like I said, would draw just. grotesque. disturbing things, I think she draws less for the fun of it, but moreso to record and jot down the absolute HORRORS that she's forced to perceive. Also her curse absolutely takes control over her when she's drawing sometimes, and draws disturbing imagery of her being k worded (not to get graphic or whatever)
Onia does not draw for fun either, she would (on her own) only draw to vent the frustrations of having to mask and being born the way she was, she also (on her own again) draws self portraits of herself, which have, slowly, gotten progressively further and further from what she actually looks like, making herself look a lot meaner or "beat up". In public, she just doodles, she does nottttt like drawing in public, sometimes her doodles turn into unprompted portraits of others in public, mainly people she finds interesting looking, or people who give off a certain vibe that she's aiming for, essentially jotting that person down to take note of their attire/vibe so she can attempt to copy it.

Digimon Hurricane Touchdown / Transcendent Evolution! The Golden Digimentals (2000)
Tumblr media
This was weird...I didn't really like it. It was pretty at least?? Okay pretty might be an understatement, some scenes were aesthetic af. It was just the writing, pacing and inconsistencies in the animation that tanked it for me. I got so bored that I took an hour break 30 minutes in lol. I thought I'd be mad that they cut these movies (OVAs?) up for an American release, but now I'm thinking that might have been the right move...
Digimon introduced: Gummymon, Chocomon, Terriermon, Lopmon, Antylamon, Wendigomon, Gargomon, Kerpymon, Seraphimon, Magnadramon, Rapidmon,
Notes:
-Dang those titles are long! I wonder why Digimon has this weird history of having movies that aren't really movies. I read on some wiki that the Ojamajo Doremi movie was sandwiched in between the two parts which is...a choice (kinda reminds me of the Angela Anaconda thing lol).
-I liked Wallace's design, voice and concept (even though he couldn't pronounce his own name lol), but I didn't really like him being so aggressively flirty with the girls? Felt awkward and forced. Also, Western stereotypes strike again!
-How could Wallace possibly not know about the digital world by now?
-The concept of twin digimon is really cool and Terriermon and Chocomon are adorable. I liked Terriermon's voice a lot. I thought he might be voiced by a young child, but I guess his VA was in her 20s...
-I'm kinda confused about who worked on this. There were times when it seemed like there was an attempt to mimic Mamoru Hosoda's style but then it would switch to a style with really heavy line-art that was like almost the opposite style. Also, they would sometimes freeze frame randomly or use shots from the show which was jarring for a theatrical release.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Look at this cursed Patamon with lips!)
-Some of the best shots in this were close-ups of things (a digivice, a mouse, an airplane, etc.) Like whoever did the background/object artwork really popped off.
-Mimi's star hair looked so good in this style! It looked awkward in the TV series but here they made the stars kind of holographic and dialed back the colors.
-Literally every new digimon introduced in this was great, but I feel they kinda blew the Seraphimon and Magnadramon introduction. They appeared for like two seconds and didn't do much. If you're going to introduce digivolutions that epic, they should probably take the final blow in my opinion (in other words, they should have just been introduced some other time).
-A Wendigo reference!? In MY Japanese cartoons?? I guess they did their North America research...His design is pretty wild, but I like it.
-Not a whole lot of explaining going on this movie. Chocomon "disappeared one day" and then reappears as Wendigomon and is all confused. Where did he go? Why did they treat all of Chocomon's digivolutions as some kind of disease? Usually when digimon digivolve they call them by their new names, but they never used anything but Chocomon. Were the "bad digivolutions" kind of like Skullgreymon?
-Terriermon's ears are spectacular. I love that they drag on the ground and that they puff up when he flies. A+ mon design.
-I kinda wanted to laugh when Wallace was like "there are digimon in Japan!?" But then I remember "digimon" is a portmanteau of two English words so there's that. Why do his digimon mostly speak in Japanese? For convenience I guess, but it's confusing...
-Seeing Hikari and Takeru ride Amtrak was a hoot. Also, I think this is my first time hearing Denver mentioned in an anime (my friend used to live there lol).
-Why did this billboard look so weird?
Tumblr media
(It looks like an animation/editing mistake?)
-The whole "random American movie character" thing reminded me of Melissa from the first My Hero Academia movie. I feel like anime has the tendency to go abroad when they want things to feel special.
-Kinda funny how the dub censors guns but then there are characters like Gargomon who literally has funs for hands. Good luck with that!
-Everyone's baby versions were adorable. I especially liked Daisuke's lack of teeth :)
-Did they break a rule at the end there with Chocomon's digiegg reappearing in the real world? Probably.
Yeah this plot was just...weird. And then there there were a bunch of drawn out scenes with no soundtrack and kinda creepy vibes. It just felt like they didn't know what they wanted to do with this one. Nice to look at, but left me kinda hollow.

regarding the recent events with sonics co creator being arrested I feel like sonic is just Cursed. Not like I’m the “ew that is o cursed who would make that” more in the “some hod decided that if that Blue Hedgehog does ANY GOOD I will rain pain upon him and anything so much as related to him even in the slightest”
yknow what time for a little bit of rambling rants my mutuals:
anything that even slightly is connected or embodies sonic is just as cursed as him
Some Examples include:
Hatsune Miku: a canonically 19year old Vocaloid that after 2 months of popularity was basically erased from the web cause people searched her up so much. And obviously the uncles went apeshit as well
Balan Wonderworld: Made by the Co creator of sonic that got arrested is a really nice looking game and apparently a good book as well and is in the middle of a redemption arc. However after its demo got released people belittled it over its glitchy gameplay and never gave it the chance it deserved
Friday Night Funkin: it’s an odd one to be listed since FNF isn’t a Sega Game but Canonically Boyfriends older sister is Hatsune Miku (now age 20 for lore reasons ) and you can see where this is going. For a while the community was fairly stable via Mods since the official game. Then Sonic.Exe’s mod came around-
Real Quick: Sonic.EXE his Creepypasta was so bad originally that people decided to make better versions and he has officially be acknowledged by Sega a few times now. His community is terrible which provides context to what’s to come for FNF. It’s most iconic Comtroversy is the Revie Controversy (Go look it up for extended context but to sum it up Revie was accused of ERP with a minor when it was really a 2 year difference when Revie was 16 and the one that pushed her into it was 14 and A man by Rightburst Ultra who is an ass framed her for even worse things got her kicked and basically filled the Mod with so many OC’s it killed it)
back to FNF thanks to that one mod it helped kickstart so much controversy it might have killed the main game. But since the main game isn’t A. Finished or B. Have anyone on Kawaiisprites team that done something it’s still living being updated slowly but because of that it continues to have bad things going down in the Mod community.
This Next one is a stretch but I has explanation for it:
Steven Universe: Now you might be asking yourself “My fellow Mutual why the Fuck is this show on here? It isn’t even connected to Sonic!”
and you would be right EXCEPT Sonic Booms tv show was On CN as was Steven Universe and Stevens whole nature of wanting to save the Earth and trusting nature kinda reminds me of sonic. Plus He can Go his own equivalent of SSJRosé and sonic has his super form which looks like Super Saiyan and they both can Achieve these forms via Magic Rocks ( Stevens Gem and the Chaos Emeralds)
okay time for the Cursed Reasoning:
Steven Universe has a pretty bad fanbase (Tumblr seems Chill about it so I think it was a Twitter thing but I don’t know about the past tho) and it was so bad it nearly killed a girl cause they didn’t draw Rose Quartz right. For more context that girl was already going through something and the fanbase wasn’t helping matters. They weren’t the cause but they weren’t a solution.
The show was always belittled as people weren’t happy with Steven being a pacifist and the shows inconsistent art style ( I’m a fan of the show and I never really saw a problem with either I’m just saying the the General hate for it is) to the point where people make art and jokes saying that other show characters would go out of their way to insult him (See the Fnf Mod Roasting on a Friday night for a recent ish example) and that these other characters are better at solving problems than him (even tho most characters of their own shows Like Mordecai and Rigby cause their own problems 90% of the time and they are usually solved after a bunch of people die. Adventure time gets a pass as most of the civilization and deity’s cause each other problems and it isn’t always Finns Duty to solve those ones. Most of Stevens problems were because of his mothers and they became his problems cause she died) and that CN itself hated the fact that there was so much LGBTQ energy at the time they tried to get it cancelled multiple times (Garnets Wedding being the final straw) and that people thought it was Rebecca Sugars way of showing propaganda. Etc you get the gist it’s like the Animation Sonic the hedgehog. Anytime something goes good for it a bitch slap follows
(Sorry for the especially long rant about Steven Universe it just felt like the Most attacked without it being connected to Sega Directly)
even Sega itself gets no respect as everyone assumes that Sega is lazy meanwhile the workers run themselves ragged meanwhile Game freak is getting a nicer treatment even though it has like Triple the workers than Sega
The point is I feel like some fan of Mario or just someone that hated Hedgehogs made a deal with the devil to make Sonic and anything that even shared his energy have major problems and hopefully this year might start to break A Sonics Cycle and B. Whatever curse it has

Work Progress Summary Post06: Reflections After Completing the Entire Project
The Process Flow and Project Management of Commercial Products:
Through this major project, I have learned the importance of overall project management. Concept art is not just about drawing and designing; it’s about managing the project as a whole. From naming files to daily progress backups and weekly reviews, these project management skills are key to success. Multiple software crashes taught me the critical importance of saving and backing up my work in a timely manner.
2. Using Consistent Costumes to Hint at Character Background and Story:
During a one-on-one session, Mr. Neal pointed out that character design should maintain consistency across different stages. Early in the project, I overlooked this in my character designs, leading to inconsistent silhouettes before and after infection. Later, I adjusted my approach. For example, in the Paranormal Researcher character, you can see that while the costume remains consistent across both stages, the character’s body changes due to contact with the cursed meteorite.
3. Art Originates from Life but is Simpler than Life:
There is a saying that art comes from life but is higher than life, but in this project, I realized that concept design should be extreme, direct, and intense. Initially, I tried to design well-rounded, humanized characters, but this approach created obstacles in my design process. Mr. Leon advised me to refer to the character designs in “Atlantis,” where each character has a distinct personality, making it easier for the audience to understand them. I realized that a good concept designer should extract and amplify the emotions from life, transforming them into visual designs. Design should be emotionally extreme and memorable.
Life is inherently complex and multi-layered, and all media simplify or slice life in some way. I believe this is a critical consideration for an excellent concept designer: how to extract emotions that resonate with the audience from the richness and intricacy of life, amplify them, and turn them into visual designs. In simple terms, it’s about visualizing distilled emotions. This means connecting emotions with visual elements—understanding which visuals can evoke emotional responses and using them effectively when needed.
Take movies as an example: their “simplicity” helps them more accurately target different audiences. Films are categorized into genres like horror, comedy, drama, and sci-fi, and audiences are classified and targeted even before they enter the cinema. Each genre has its specific target audience, and these audiences have clear expectations for their preferred film types.
For instance, the recently released “Alien: Romulus” is part of the iconic Alien series, which is a classic in the sci-fi horror genre. The initial concept of the film comes from the phrase “In space, no one can hear you scream,” which conveys a sense of both horror and sci-fi. The visual language of the Alien series was established by H.R. Giger, who blended biological design with the technology of the 1970s and 1980s in a dark style, creating this iconic creature that has influenced the history of concept design. The design of the alien incorporates elements of human reproductive organs, with the creature’s embryo parasitizing in a human body and bursting out of the chest, which gives the design a bizarre and unsettling feel.
This aligns perfectly with the film’s title “Alien.” Concept designers should aim to meet and even exceed the audience’s visual expectations. Successful design should have clear intent, be emotionally extreme, and simple, creating iconic works rather than getting lost in the emotional complexity of a single character. Memorable concept designs always carry a strong emotional charge, allowing them to expand from a character with extreme traits to a broader dimension. The task of a concept designer is to push these “spectacle” designs to the extreme.
Returning to my major project, with this in mind, I stopped worrying about the complexity of each character and instead focused on making the designs more extreme and distinctive. For example, the Paranormal Researcher wears a bird-shaped mask inspired by Victorian-era doctors, adding to the character’s mystery and historical context. On the other hand, the Weapons Master’s design emphasizes his powerful combat abilities. After being infected by the meteorite’s power, I made his figure larger than other characters to emphasize his “tank” form.
4. The impact of different media and formats on concept design:
In my planning folder, I mentioned my ambition to become a freelance concept designer, similar to many successful professionals in the field. I envisioned working on both engaging game and film projects. However, during the creation of my major project, I gained new insights into how different media influence the design approach for concept art.
For instance, the concept of the "Wraith," which frequently appears in Japanese cultural works like the famous horror films *The Grudge* and *The Ring*, was adapted into the multiplayer horror game *Dead by Daylight* as the character "The Spirit - Rin Yamaoka." Unlike the film portrayals, where the Wraith is usually depicted crawling and killing through invisible “grudges,” the game version stands upright and wields a physical weapon—a katana.
This difference highlights the necessity for concept designers to understand the requirements of the medium. In a game, the Wraith must accommodate the player's perspective, meaning the character needs to be upright to fit the gameplay mechanics. The design of a katana as a weapon also considers the game mechanics, where players need to perceive attacks and interactions clearly.
This realization led me to understand that different media impose unique demands on concept design. Recognizing these differences is crucial as they determine the design direction and the final presentation of characters. This understanding not only guided the design decisions for my project but also profoundly influenced my approach to future career development in the field.
In conclusion, this graduation project not only enhanced my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of design thinking. Through this project, I gained clearer insights into my future career path and will incorporate these valuable experiences into my future design work.

answering these under the cut since the images r kindve long...
6) Show us a bit of a WIP!
most of my art wips i think ive shared or are incomprehensible messes but ig this counts - currently doing wip brainstorming for potential merch lineup (charms in this case) for a VERY potential con n hopefully online sales bc id love to get back into that... i have others but these r the only ones ill share mainly bc i can use this as an opportunity to gauge the actual interest lmao
Tumblr media
since this is an art AND fic ask game heres wips of the only fic im kinda working on (miami rick/reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
15) Have you noticed your style change over time?
definitely! in two different ways i suppose:
when i first draw things i tend to get trapped in more... realism n an inability to stylize n its a process i repeat every new fandom i go into until i get comfortable enough to draw the stylized versions?? idk if this is noticeable to others, but its very noticeable to me haha
on a similiar note i think over time ive just grown more comfortable leaning into stylized or cartoonish art - this was originally an active process when i was like. fresh adult bc i didnt like my art at the time but i think abt ten yrs later ive hit a point where im able to draw more than the same face over n over. or i hope so lol. i have shapes i repeat a lot but ive been able to draw a lot of things n make them work in my style in ways i just couldnt b4.
i believe all art styles have a lineart + color combo that fits it n i think ive found mine! but ive also learned to be comfortable in being inconsistent n wildly different :3
ig tldr old art drop. i feelive gotten to a point w my art i can get close to what im seeing in my head lol
2016 -> 2022
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2016 -> 2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2018 -> 2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fic wise i think ive gotten more floral to overdescriptive lately due to older feedback from also a decade ago abt it being hard to decipher what was going on sometimes. ill reread old fics n be impressed by my ability to cut to the chase lmao. i need to find a better middle ground...
16) Do people irl know you participate in fandom?
yep! i both have a what ud call special interest in fandom culture & then pretty much uh do not do anything else so it makes my only hobby fandom -> ppl know. i dont really talk or hang out w ppl irl but like i was raised by and around nerds so i dont try to hide it haha. i have infodumped fandom bs at former coworkers too... its a curse. fandom is too much of my life for ppl irl to be able to NOT know
