Phew...a next day delivery from Merlin, a couple of minutes and that was the tyre on (I didn't have the patience to wait for the radiator to warm up). The Cushcore Bead Bro worked perfectly, locking the bead on at one end while I worked round from the other. I initially tried the Crankbrothers Speedier lever but, while this would be a good option for easier tyre/rim combos, I got to a point here where I couldn't force it round any further.

I was glad I also took a punt on the Feedback Steel Core tyre levers - using one I was able to work the rest of the tyre on to the rim, moving the Speedier lever along behind it to help hold the bead in place. Impressed with the Feedback levers - clearly very strong and, unlike the Granite Talon levers in my ride kit, they have enough length and an effective hook shape.

I'll be happy enough with these in the tool kit out on the trail.

Revamped the bike during the off-season! Completely took it apart and cleaned EVERYTHING down to the bushings at every joint. Swapped out handlebars for @raceface SIXC carbon bars, red @jagwire_official hydraulic brake lines, @hopetech enduro wheelset with @maxxistires tubeless ready minions to add @cushcore tire inserts. Also swapped the rear shock for a @dvosuspension topaz 3! Kept it (relatively) local today, looping over tracks I haven't ridden since last year. Had my first puncture in two years! A sudden, almost explosive loss of rear tyre pressure that caused me to think I might have ripped the valve off but, nope, just a standard puncture. I've been dreading this, to be honest, given the problems I've had wrestling tyres onto these hookless Mavic rims in the home environment. Fortunately, the tools I bought earlier in the spring did the job: the Feedback levers peeled the tyre off and, when it was a bit reluctant going back on, the Cushcore Bead Bro widget worked like a charm.
