I finally got my second EAH doll. I found her on a local reselling site for 20 euros. They lost her cape and she had major glue seepage but I got to work and fixed her up!
Here is how she arrived, her bun was practically cemented in its shape
There are many methods for dealing with glue seepage. I don't have access to Oxi Clean and Goo Gone (I'm not sure they're available in my country) so I use my own method.
First, I lather the gluey parts in oil (hair or cooking oil, same thing) since oil helps dissolve glue. Learned this trick when my mom saved a neighborhood stray cat from a glue trap by soaking the poor baby in oil (she got adopted, don't worry).
Then I wash the hair with dish soap a couple times and the next step I learned from xcanadensis on YT if I remember correctly which is to mix baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and boiling water in a mug and let the hair soak for a couple hours. I did that once and her hair is now grease free.
And yeah, the glue is still inside the head but that's a problem for future me. I've done this method on a couple dolls back in 2020/2021 and the hair is still not greasy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Then I curled the ends in a random pattern to match the show design
I painted the accessories with gel polish. Again, I've heard nail polish damages plastic but I've had no bad experiences with gel polish. I made her a pair of earrings and a necklace from an old bracelet.
Finally, I made the cape using farbric from an old scarf with a floral design on one side and a plain beige side. I added (some pretty uneven) stitching in a criss cross pattern like the stock photo, kinda, and some white beads. Ignore that one bead that's in the wrong place, I just realized 😩
Then I crocheted the border with the same thread I used for stitching and crocheted a gold border on the sides and bottom. I also added some beading at the bottom since it was a bit too short for my liking. The closure across the chest is made out of bows from that red ribbon, thread, white beads and it closes with a clasp on her right shoulder.
Here she is next to Darling who is also customized ♥️🩵
I might do a doll collection video and post it on YT if anyone would be interested so let me know. I have less than 60 dolls (I think) but they all have unique stories and sentimental value to me ✨
I decided to retake an old hobby and start customising dolls for the eah characters who didn’t get a doll (ex. Sparrow, Hopper, Ramona) + some book only characters (Coral, Candy Witch)
Trying to come up with a possible body mold for Nathan will be the end of me. He has to be smaller than Apple White (at his tallest).
As of now I’ve narrowed it down to three possibilities, all of them quite difficult to work with and none of them guarantees a successful doll
Howleen Wolf G1 body mold. I would have to get rid of her boobs and would try to sever the limbs as to give him non heeled feet. However given The Nutcracker is a ballet, maybe I can leave the heeled feet. I would probably paint the body because she is a tad too light skinned for what I imagine Nathan’s complexion to be. Eventually I could try to flatten out some of her curves. Carving on it would be a challenge but it will be a challenge on all bodies.
Clawd Wolf G1 body mold. Pros: dark complexion, a lot leaner than the eah male bodies. Cons: is too tall. I would have to sever his legs and probably torso and arms as well in order to make him shorter.
Clawd Wolf torso, we are giving you your little sisters arms and legs and then we are severing her feet so we can give her legs yours again. We are destroying two dolls in the process but who knows maybe I can use the Howleen torso for the Coral Witch Custom which I’m planning as a possible next challenge.
a bit anxious about posting this, but i wanted to show off my meeshell mermaid custom that i just finished!
i loved her design in the show, and was really dissapointed when the actual doll looked nothing like her, so i made my own !!
i also think mattel had a missed opportunity in giving meeshell a wheelchair instead of just having her magically able to walk on land even though she hadn't gone through her story yet!
more info about what i used/more rambling under the cut!
-i was not a big fan of the later ever after high face molds, so i used a legacy day ashlynn ella as a base! she had really similar eye makeup to meeshell, so it worked out great :)
-her face repaint just includes the stars around her eyes with glitter, purple eyebrows and a slightly bigger lip in that same color.
-i made her earrings and hair piece with floral wire and beads i got at michaels and a shell i had lying around.
-her hair is rerooted with a mix of 10mm curly blossom, ballet pink, and pink & silver tinsel from The Doll Planet Hair on etsy! i brushed it out a bit and cut it to length.
-her outfit is from the original meeshell doll with the top repainted with acrylic mixed with fabric medium. and for the little details painted on the plastic parts of her outfit, i used acrylic and some glitter paint.
-i made the mermaid fin using this no sew tutorial by TheDollBoy on youtube.
-her wheelchair is a barbie wheelchair with a shell pattern felt sheet and starfish that i got from michaels glued to the inside of the wheels.
-her hands are actually an extra pair of g1 lagoona blue hands that i had lying around, painted to match her skin tone! i also used a glitter topcoat over her face and body.
-the stand in the bottom middle picture is from the deluxe little mermaid halle bailey doll !
I hate that some people say that some people are "to old" for dolls. Saying how "you shouldn't be playing with those your to old for them. Those are for kids."
These people don't know that when people like me say 'there literally my everything' or 'there the only thing keeping me going lol' that I mean every word of it. They ARE my everything and they ARE the only thing keeping me going rn.
So don't laugh. Don't judge. Don't say it's "weird". You have no idea how much damage those "toys" saved me from.
It's that time of year! When I start the holiday bag room for the 50/50 charity. 50 for me. 50 for charity. Winner gets the bag room with the doll, the clothes, the accessories, it's a whole thing!
Last year I raffled off the commission. This year, people voted in the GCC! We're doing a Halloween styled room, with a very witchy scene.
How will it turn out? Follow along to find out.
Corbin was a quick custom but very satisfying! I wanted him to be a thief character (haven't decided which fairy tale yet though) and I had this crow sillouette shirt (Jake's from the Liv doll line). I gave him piercing blue-gray eyes and made him his wig, painting his eyebrows to match. His boots and pants are Ken's and I found this cool leather jacket with heavy ribbing for the sleeves. Decided he needed something else so stole Jake's headphones for him as well.
I love this t-shirt!! He is also giving Jem and the Hologram vibes lol. Jake is a Rebel as he doesn't want to be a thief ; he dreams of being a magician instead.
Dolltavia enjoyed her trip to Mexico. She loved hanging on the beach, chilling by the pool, roller skating in the sun, munching on the room service food, and viewing the moon from a new location than she usually does. Since August 17th is her "unofficial" birthday (even though the passport I made for her says otherwise), she got a lovely chocolate cake to celebrate.
self note: don’t make anything while having a high temperature. >.> I honestly don’t remember some of the process of making the dolls but pleasantly surprised that it turned out nicely.
I’m absolutely loving my little alien ballerinas.
The very non-articulated EAH girls finally got to shine. I have four in total but only enough petals to make two and only two shells anyways. It was the shells that sparked the idea to make the ballerinas and while I wanted the tutu’s longer, I didn’t have enough petals to make two but enough to make them how they are now. I’m so glad when I was downsizing I didn’t get rid of the dolls or the petals.
