Fluff?? Hurt Comfort??? I dunno.
Not proofread.
"I don't hate you, you know." Your voice must've startled her, because Wanda turned a bit too quickly with her hand over her heart.
You were preparing to go on a mission together. The first time you'd ever gone on a mission alone with Wanda. She tended to avoid being teamed up with you if she could.
You figured she just didn't like you. It never really bothered you too much. Maybe a little.
Until you heard her fighting so hard against a mission with you, and only you. She pleaded with Steve in front of all of the other Avengers. Natasha snickered in her corner seat and you wondered what was so funny?
You were frankly a bit offended that Wanda would rather pretend to date 'anyone else', for the mission. You could be a great fake partner! The best even. Nonetheless Wanda wanted nothing more than to avoid being around you. Going so far as to offer to go with Sam or, god forbid, Vision.
You were the best undercover agent they had aside from Natasha. Who would've been coming with you if she weren't so busy.
Wanda stared at you blankly for a moment. Tilting her head.
"Good to know." She nodded, going back to adjusting her dress. It didn't sound like she believed you.
"I spoke with Nat." You continued. "I asked why she would suggest that you came with me for this. When she knew you hated my guts."
Wanda turned to you with her eyebrows raised. You stepped forward and fixed the tangled tassels around her neck as you spoke.
"She laughed at me." You smoothed the front of her hair, spraying a bit of extra hairspray in it. "She told me you thought I hated you. That you thought I hadn't forgiven you for the Ultron situation."
Wanda winced, and sighed sharply. "We don't need to talk about this."
"We- we can though." You frowned and Wanda shook her head.
"Not right now. We have a job to do." She walked past you and you caught a breath of her perfume, it was floral and spicy. You liked it.
You shook yourself free from your thoughts and followed behind her, out the door of the safe house where your clothing and accessories were set out for the two of you, and to the car waiting out front.
The ride was quiet. You stole glances at Wanda as she stared out the window, her jawline fully on display with her hair pulled into a sleek updo. Wanda was pretty, in that unassuming way most people didn't notice until she was fully dressed up.
You noticed during battle. From the way she locked her jaw and sent enemies flying, to the way she would meet your eyes with fire in hers and you just knew the adrenaline pumping through her veins was similar to yours.
You'd never actually seen her on a mission outside of something confrontational. You knew nothing of her undercover skills or her ability to blend in and go with the flow while also keeping her mind on the objective.
So you were pleasantly surprised when you entered the target's party and she easily slipped her hand in yours. You glanced at her and she smiled fondly at you, leaning closer and setting her chin on your shoulder.
She was close enough to kiss.
"We'll make our way around the room and mingle for a bit, then we can sneak off, but not before we speak to Damien." Her accent was soft and alluring. If it weren't for her actively speaking about the mission, her breath against your cheek would've made you forget you were even on one.
Maybe this was the real reason you never worked jobs with Wanda. She was very, very distracting.
You smiled, chuckling a little as two elderly men walked by, eying you with judgment. They were just jealous, you decided. You did happen to have the most beautiful woman at the event right on your arm.
"Okay darling. Whatever you say." You led her further into the group of socialites and powerful figures of the underground. "You just let me know when you're ready to run off."
Wanda held her head high as you walked through the crowd. You really did look like a powerful couple. People you didn't know in the slightest sent you nods and smiles as you passed. They regarded you with respect, even though they knew nothing about you.
After all you were mysterious guests, dressed in expensive designer clothing and walking as if you owned the place. As far as they knew you did own the place.
It took only a few minutes before Damien Gavroche, the true owner of the establishment and one of the men you needed to take down, approached you.
"My my you're a stunning couple aren't you?" He smiled impishly at you. Nausea nearly overtook you just looking at him. You were there because he was trafficking young girls. You hated people like him with all you had.
Wanda's grip tightened on your hand. She was the only Avenger who knew why people like Gavroche truly disgusted you. You had experience with them, and they genuinely made you afraid.
You swallowed the bile rising in your throat and smiled brightly at the short, greasy looking man.
"Thank you," you shook his hand. "It's truly all my darling though. If I had been on my own for this I'd have no clue what to wear."
You kissed Wanda's head and she hummed, leaning into you.
"The thing is. I don't remember adding your names to the list?" It was stated as a question but you knew what he meant. 'How did you get in?'
"That's odd," you furrowed your brows. "We only had to present these invitations at the door."
That was the truth, you mused as you handed the slips of paper to him. You really hated lying. It just worked better when you didn't have to do it very much.
Damien looked at the invites for a moment then smiled, handing them back to you.
"My mistake" He apologized, slipping his arm around Wanda's waist to lead you both across the room. You felt Wanda tense beside you. His hand was nearly on her ass. You grabbed his wrist and moved it so his hand rested higher on her back.
Damien scowled at you as you did so. You sent him a warning glare back. You hoped he caught the meaning of your actions. 'Don't touch what isn't yours'
Not that you were actually possessive over Wanda. You were just playing your part, and maybe feeling a bit protective of your teammate.
Wanda leaned further into you now that your arm was draped across her shoulders. You let your thumb graze along her exposed skin. An attempt at comforting her and looking like you were truly a couple, you told yourself. Not at all because Wanda's skin was soft and you couldn't get enough of the feeling.
Before you knew it, you and Wanda were in a secluded VIP section. You recognized some of New York's most wanted lounging in the room. It made you nervous. If people like that were casually hanging out around here. What kind of party were you really at?
You shivered and looked to Wanda, her face told you she was thinking the same thing. This could mean trouble.
You tried to relax, falling into a seat with a small sigh. It worked until Wanda perched herself right on your knee, picking a flute of champagne off a nearby tray and taking a slow sip as she surveyed the room.
"I don't think I recognize you twos." A strong Brooklyn accent caught spoke up above the murmuring of the others.
"We're new in town." Wanda spoke up, her voice exuded power and confidence. It wasn't a tone she'd ever used since you'd met her.
You sat up, placing a hand on her hip and leaning your cheek against her shoulder. She draped an arm around you and ran her fingers through your hair.
Again. You almost forgot you were on a mission. Wishful thinking you guessed as you met the gaze of a woman with long white hair. Her pale blue eyes held something unsettling in them. Was is recognition?
She smirked at you and raised her glass. Did she know you?
You looked up at Wanda, she was already looking in the direction of the woman. She didn't look at you, instead displaying her jaw to you as she absently handed you her champagne and crossed the room to grab another one.
The white haired women shifted from the armchair she was sitting in and into the cushion next to you.
"What is she your keeper?" Her lips quirked up into a playful, if not a bit mischievous smirk. You laughed nervously.
"No, not really." You matched her expression, "Why, do you think I need kept?"
"No not at all. Quite the opposite." She chuckled "Beasts like you aren't meant to be tamed."
"Beasts?" You raised an eyebrow. "You find me to be beastly?"
"Only in the most interesting of ways. I can see it in your eyes." Her gaze pierced yours. "You're uncomfortable here. You'd much rather be somewhere much less," Her eyes wandered the room with a look not dissimilar to contempt, "sophisticated."
You laughed. "Something like that."
You sighed, glancing at Wanda who seemed to be struggling to escape a conversation with Damien and one of his associates.
"The social aspects of this line of work aren't really my strong suit. I'm not nearly as polite as my partner." You nodded toward her. "For example. I would've knocked our hosts head of his shoulders by now."
The woman laughed, brushing her fingers along your arm. Was she flirting with you?
You bristled, looking back at her before turning back to see Wanda stalking back toward you with a scowl.
"Uh oh" The white haired woman looked between the approaching Wanda and you. "Did I get you in trouble?"
Before you could respond slender fingers wrapped around your wrist and tugged you upward. Now, only inches from your face, Wanda looked much more intimidating.
"I think we need a break." Her voice was venomous as she glared back at the woman. She began to drag you away and you looked behind you to see the woman sending you an apologetic look.
Once you were out of view from the guards outside the VIP room, Wanda pushed you down another Hall and separated herself from you.
"You gave us a good excuse to get out of there." She spoke lowly, "not that I think you should be flirting with criminals while on a job."
"What was I supposed to do make a scene?" You were genuinely asking. Would she be happier if you'd just shut down the conversation right at the start?
"Of course not." She huffed walking faster down the hallway. "The girls are somewhere on the sub level."
"You mean the basement?" You chuckled.
"Sure" she led you toward where the staircase down should be, but before you could reach it she was ducking into a doorway and dragging you with her.
"Oof" Your back hit the wall and within moments you were trapped against it with Wanda leaning heavily on to you.
You suddenly felt out of breath. Then Wanda kissed you and stole what little oxygen you still had in your lungs.
It was a hot kiss, full of energy and passion that had been missing in every relationship you'd ever had. Before long you were gasping between kisses and Wanda was slipping her tongue into your mouth and you groaned, tightening your grip on her sides and pulling her closer to you.
It was all happening very fast. You hadn't quite caught on to the situation until you noticed footsteps passing by, you barely pried your eyes open enough to see two armed men walking by. They stopped, watching you for what seemed a bit longer than necessary.
Wanda's hands slipped under your your dress shirt and her nails traced your stomach. Within seconds you were much more focused on her than the men not so subtly enjoying your little show.
Wanda pulled away and pressed her forehead to yours to catch her breath. She giggled softly, not opening her eyes. You took the moment to study her. You always though Wanda was pretty, but up close and intimate like this, she was the most beautiful thing you'd ever seen.
"I love you." She said it just above a whisper, so it reached your ears and likely the men behind her.
Wait what?
Her lips moved to your neck and your eyes fell shut again as you melted against her. What we're you thinking about again?
Her teeth grazed along a sensitive spot on your neck and you groaned. What was going on? You were meant to be doing something right? Where were you again?
Wanda laughed again, pressing a couple quick kisses to your neck before she pulled away to look at you. She looked amused.
"They're gone now." What? Who was gone?
You looked behind her at the hallway. It was empty. Oh.
Wanda pulled away and you found yourself missing her closeness.
"Let's go." She nodded toward the stairway and you cleared your throat, catching up to her. Right. Important mission. You needed to get a hold of yourself.
Getting to the girls was easy, seeing them was a different story. Your heart caught in your throat. They were so young. Younger than you were.
You grit your teeth. You were going to killed them, Gavroche and everyone else involved. You nearly turned around to confront Damien right away, but Wanda's hand on your arm stopped you.
"Let's get them out of here. We can take care of the rest once they're safe." Her eyes were compassionate. You held her gaze for a moment before closing your eyes. You couldn't think as quickly now, and it wasn't because Wanda was distracting you.
You nodded, "how?"
"The same way we planned. Sneak them out the back." She hesitated. "I'll used my powers to ensure no guards see us leaving. We'll have to take them in groups." Her hand lingered on your arm, rubbing your bicep soothingly.
You nodded, opening yours eyes with new resolve. You could do this.
You got to work freeing the girls of their binds. They were afraid, but you assured them you would get them to safety.
Things went smoothly. You were glad they did. You weren't sure if you could handle failing a mission like this. Soon enough the girls were free and being transported to a safe facility where they could get medical care and be returned to their families.
You were relieved. They were mostly untouched. You found them in time to save the majority of them from the horrors you'd experienced.
With the last girls quietly taken away, it was time to face Gavroche. You shuddered at the thought. You wanted him to pay, but you didn't want to look at his weasily little face again.
When you came into the room you were surprised to see the party was over. There was no one in the VIP room or out in the main area. You frowned, on your guard as you scanned your surroundings.
Then the white haired woman emerged from a previously unseen space, with Damien in cuffs.
"Thanks for the help." She smirked, looking you up and down.
That's why she seemed to recognize you. She must be S.H.I.E.L.D.
"So. Gavroche.." You caught his attention. "That's a French name meaning “street urchin” or “mischievous child”"
Wanda, the agent and Damien all looked at you quizzically.
"What of it?" He glowered at you.
"Nothing, nothing." You shrugged. "It just fits." You looked him over. "You're tiny and you look like you live in a gutter."
He grumbled something obscene in response. Wanda chuckled next to you. Then the agent spoke again.
"His employer is still out there. He narrowly escaped." You bristled at her words. "From what I understand you have a history with him. Preston Alexis."
You calcified. Freezing at the mention of his name.
"Y/n." Wanda touched your face, bringing your attention to her. "Do you know him?"
She knew the answer, but you nodded anyway. "Yeah"
"We're going to have you stay in a safe house. Both of you." The agent looked between you and Wanda. "Until we catch him. He's notoriously bad at hiding without help and his contacts are limited. We'll get him."
You only nodded.
The ride to the new safe house was a blur. In contrast to the ride to the party, you stared out the window, and it was Wanda who stole glances at you.
She didn't ask if you were okay, and you were grateful for her for not trying to have a conversation with you. You didn't think you could handle it. You were glad you had this mission with Wanda. With anyone else you would've had to explain your reaction to Preston's name. You'd have to relive your experience out loud.
You were curled up on the couch in the safe house. It was the first place you went after you got there. You hadn't moved at all in the time it took Wanda to take a shower and change into some clothes left in one of the rooms for agents to use.
The outfit was comically large on her. Large sweat pants much too long for her legs, with the waist cinched as far as Wanda could get them, and what had to be a quadruple x sweater that fell past her knees.
You would've commented on it if you weren't freaking out.
She tugged your arm until you were sitting up, and began unbuttoning your shirt. It felt far too intimate for the state of your relationship, or lack thereof, but you didn't complain.
After tonight, you wanted to be closer to Wanda.
Wanda pushed your dress shirt off your shoulders and you helped her get it the rest of the way off. Then she handed you a hoodie that was equally as oversized as hers. You put it on and chuckled. You were drowning in fabric. It was perfect though. Cozy and oversized in a way that felt safe. Like when you were a kid and you wore your uncle's jacket at the fair. It was a similar fit.
Once you were snuggled up in the hoodie, and sitting on the couch, Wanda turned on the TV and left the room. The screen was playing reruns of M.A.S.H. You smiled faintly. It was a comfort show, oddly enough.
You eventually took off your dress pants, opting to just wear the hoodie as a nightgown. You pulled the fabric over your legs as you settled back in just in time for Wanda to come back with two cups of tea. Eyeing the dress pants you left unceremoniously crumpled at the bottom of the sofa.
She didn't look at you, yes she glanced in your direction but she wouldn't hold your gaze. She'd watch you and look away the moment you looked back. You couldn't tell what she was thinking.
She handed you the tea and hummed quietly in response when you thanked her. You watched her pretending to pay attention to the show, and you were overwhelmed with the need to comfort her. Or did you want her to comfort you?
You thought back to what Natasha said. 'She thinks you're not over her invading your mind. She wouldn't explain why, but she said you're still haunted by it and I think she still blames herself for it.'
"I don't blame you."
Wanda looked up from her tea, still avoiding your eyes.
"I actually think I needed to see it again." You sighed, resting your chin on your knees. "You can't heal what hurt you if you black it out."
"You can't be serious." Her eyes were on you. You could feel them. You didn't look at her, because you knew she'd turn away the second you did. "You've had nightmares about it ever since we met. You project them a lot in your sleep."
You shrugged, "And I'll keep having them. Especially now."
Wanda didn't respond, out of the corner of your eye she looked mortified.
"That's not your fault."
"I read the mission file. Before you." She didn't avoid your gaze when you turned to her this time. "That's why I was so determined to go with someone else."
"What?"
"I- I was-"
"You were trying to protect me."
"In a way." She turned away, twisting imaginary rings around her fingers.
Within a moment you had crossed the couch to pull her into a hug. She hugged you back tighter than you'd expected, and she didn't let go for a while. You chose to enjoy the embrace, taking in her warmth.
It was strange to think only that morning you two would barely talk, and now she was quickly becoming a source of comfort.
Her arms dropped from around you, and you pulled away. "I think I want you on missions with me more often."
She looked surprised.
"I'm serious." You chuckled. "You were a genius. Even if I was undercover as a couple with someone, I wouldn't think to push them against a wall and kiss them when the guards came by."
You thought you might've caught a blush blooming on her cheeks, but Wanda turned away too fast for you to know for sure.
"I was just acting on impulse." She mumbled, sounding almost shy.
"Your impulse was great." You laughed. "In fact I don't think anyone has ever kissed me like that."
Wanda laughed out loud at that. "What?"
"Seriously."
"Not even Carol?" Was that a hint of jealousy you heard?
You and Carol broke up a while ago. She was off-world all the time. It just wasn't working out.
"Please." You scoffed "We never even made it past little kisses. We tried but there was never.. Passion. In the end we didn't really want each other anyway."
"What did you want?"
"Other people I guess." You shook your head. "I dunno"
Wanda looked at you again and you realized just how much closer you were than before. Wanda's eyes lowered and it looked like she was leaning toward you. Then she pulled away.
You imagined it. That's all. You imagined it.
You wished you hadn't.
What was happening? Were there feelings there? You thought there might be on your end.
She said she loved you in the hallway, but that was just for the distraction right? To make the guards feel uncomfortable enough to leave you alone.
But what if it was the truth? Slipped into a moment meant to deceive the guards. It was safe to say it then when you couldn't possibly think she'd meant it.
Wanda was looking at you with an unreadable expression. You were overthinking. Not too loudly you hoped. Could she hear you?
You wondered what Wanda falling in love with you would look like. She'd feel protective of you. She lost a lot of the people she loved. She wouldn't want that again. You imagined soft touches and gentle offerings of things meant to comfort you or lift your spirits.
You looked down at your tea, then back at the TV.
No. That just meant she cared. You'd just confronted something scary. She wanted you to feel better.
You were still overthinking.
Wanda was still watching you.
Your mind was running a mile a minute.
She sighed.
You found your thoughts pushing in a new direction. What would you falling in love with Wanda look like?
Would it be jumping the gun to think you already were? You had a crush on her before sure. Seeing her from afar. She was beautiful and thoughtful despite everything she'd been through. You could fall down that rabbit hole easily. You kind of wanted to. Even if you hit the ground hard and found yourself hurting.
"Do you want to go get dinner?" You asked, before you could even think about it.
Wanda laughed.
"We can't leave the safe house Silly." She spoke between giggles.
"Right." You nodded. "Wanna make dinner?"
There was a pause.
"With me I mean." You clarified.
"Sure" She chuckled. You both knew you wouldn't be much help.
You took her hand, pulling her off the couch, and you didn't let go as you walked to the kitchen together. It felt right. So you linked your fingers through hers as you made your way to the pantry.
Wanda laughed as you both took in the nearly empty shelves, save for a few cans.
"It won't be much of a dinner." She giggled.
You grabbed a can of stew and handed it to her, refusing to let go of her hand as you searched for something you could pair it with. Sighing after you found nothing with your first look over the cans.
"We'll make it work." You chuckled "Canned stew, and good company. Sounds great to me."
Wanda hid her face in your shoulder and your heart skipped a beat. She sighed out a giggle against your arm.
You just grinned and pulled her out into the kitchen again to find a pot to warm up your stew in. You searched through the cupboards with your free hand.
"Uh" Wanda tugged your hand to get your attention. "We could find it easier if you let go of my hand."
"So?"
"So are you going to let me go anytime soon?"
"Do you want me to?"
Wanda didn't respond. So you squeezed her hand and continued your one-handed search.
"Aha!" You grinned as you pulled out a small pot. Wanda laughed and took the pan from you mumbling something about you being a goofball.
You only smiled at her. She was entertaining your obvious silly flirting. That was a good thing.
Wanda set the pot on the stove and turned it on. She found a can opener and tried to move her other hand to open the can. When your hand moved with it she paused.
"Can I have my hand?" You looked just a little bit helpless, maybe conflicted. You pouted. "I promise you can have it back when I don't need it anymore."
You reluctantly let her go, and she thanked you as she opened the can. You sat yourself down on the counter and she smiled over at you as dumped the can into the pot.
"Do you just sit on every counter out of impulse?"
"What?" You looked around at yourself. "What do you mean?"
"Anywhere there's a kitchen. Where you can spend time. You-" Wanda interrupted herself with a laugh "You always end up on the counter."
"I don't know. I just. I wanna sit but I don't wanna leave the area." You rubbed at your wrist.
"There's-" more laughter as she pointed into the dining room. "There's a chair, several of them, right there."
"Nah I'm good here." You watched her crack up again.
You liked her laugh. It was cute. The cutest.
Wanda walked up to you, walking between your legs and resting her hands on your lower thighs.
"Now I'm really good here." You grinned goofily down at her and Wanda's nose scrunched up as she giggled st you. You booped her nose. You had to. You just had to.
She paused, rubbing at her nose for a moment before she smiled up at you. There was a beat or two of silence before you noticed the red wisps on the air.
"Magic huh?" You chuckled, glancing at where she was loading bowls she somehow found with stew. She wasn't even looking at it. The talent she held amazed you. How long had she been going through the kitchen while you were distracted?
"A while" she smirked and frowned in confusion.
"Did I say that out loud or just think it very loudly?"
"You've been thinking very loud since we got here."
Oh.
Oh!
"Shit. Okay then." You wanted to kiss her.
Damn it, intrusive thoughts!
A cute little laugh burst from Wanda's lips. She leaned forward just a little..
Then put a warm bowl in your hands and put a spoon in it.
You couldn't help but giggle with her in response. "You're a total tease!"
"You're not supposed to kiss a girl until after dinner on the first date."
"This is a date?"
"Well you did ask me to dinner." She shrugged. "Now we're having dinner."
So you ate dinner. Then you watched a movie from the stash of old westerns under the TV. Seriously, who stocked this place? Steve?
Then you walked her to the bedroom door.
"Goodnight" You smiled and turned around, she tugged you backwards by the hood of your shirt/dress.
"There's one bedroom. Where are you going?"
"To the couch?" You pointed back toward the living room with your thumb. "If we're still following first date rules, I'm supposed to drop you off at the door and go to my place."
Wanda giggled, then put on a soft pout.
"You forgot your kiss." She put her arms around your neck, leaning in close enough you feel her breath on your lips. "And I'm not above inviting you in on the first date. You're not sleeping on the couch."
With that, she pulled you inside and closed the door behind you. She let you go and turned to walk away.
"Ah!" You wrapped your arms around her, pulling her giggling form back into you. "My kiss!"
You planted a soft kiss on her cheek and pulled away, walking to the bed. You could play the teasing game too.
Wanda laughed behind you. "That's all you wanted?"
You omitted your response, choosing to instead pull back the sheets. She knew that you definitely wanted a proper kiss, but you were determined to tease her back. Give her a taste of her own medicine.
"Y/n" She tugged on your sleeve, and you turned with an attempt at a neutral expression, but just looking at her made you smile again.
She pushed you down to sit on the mattress and you genuinely squeaked as she settled herself on your lap, hands on your shoulders. She chuckled and you almost felt embarrassed, but then her lips were on yours and you forgot everything but the tingling of your skin as her lips moved against yours and her fingers slipped into your hair.
You balled your fists in her sweater and groaned as she bit your lip and pulled away for air. Your foreheads were pressed together again and you flashed back to the moment in the hallway. You would be thinking about that hallway for a long time, oddly enough in a good way despite everything that was going on there.
How could she take such a horrible, scary day and make it feel so good? You weren't even afraid anymore.
Because Wanda was there, and she was safe, and she was amazing.
"You're magical." You breathed out and Wanda grinned.
"I've been told that."
"You have?"
Wanda spun her magic between her fingers and waited for you to catch on. It took a moment. Or five.
"Oh"
Wanda started giggling. "Oh!"
"Hey! I'm in a post-kiss haze right now. Don't be mean." You pouted for about two seconds.
Wanda kissed you again. Softly, gently, and way too shortly. Then you were smiling.
"Thank you."
"What for?"
"Today could have been horrible. I mean yeah we completed our mission but.." You trailed off. "I was content to be terrified and you made me feel better."
"What are friends for?" She grinned and you pulled back, frowning.
Wanda only laughed as you lifted her up and dropped her on the bed. You started to walk away but turned around and brought the covers over her shaking body as she kept laughing.
You tucked her in, then kissed her head and moved away.
"Goodnight" you said flatly and started to leave.
"No wait!" Wanda was still giggling as she scrambled out of the bed and pulled on you. "Where are you going?"
"To the couch." It tried to keep a straight face but you were struggling to keep from laughing.
"You can't leave me alone in here." She pouted. "Please stay?"
Damn she was good at this.
"Okay" you turned around and started getting into bed. Wanda slid in next to you with a cheeky little smile.
"Thank you."
"What are friends for?" You grumbled and couldn't help the small smirk pulling at the corners of your lips. "Friendly friends."
"Shut up." She chuckled and pulled you over into another kiss. "You're so fucking cute."
"Fuck you." You laughed a little and she grinned.
"Maybe some other time." She settled herself with her head on your chest and flipped the lights off with a flick of her fingers.
"Goodnight Wanda." You whispered into her hair.
"Good night moya lyubov" she mumbled into your chest.
You smiled as you fell asleep. For the first time, you wanted to sleep. The nightmares could come, but Wanda would be there in the morning, and that was where you wanted to be.

tw: lots of discussion on dealing with an verbally/physically abusive mother, hurt/comfort, misunderstanding trope, slight argument, Wanda is kind of petty (but she doesn’t fully understand), angst with a happy ending, love confessions, super fluffy ending, there’s kisses at the end
a/n: we already know the drill, it’s not proofread babes. this hurt my soul to write, but the ending is so worth it.
We have about 6,000 thoughts daily, and a majority of them are the same idea just repeated. Studies show that another majority of those thoughts are negative.
There were days when it felt like the stats were wrong because some days you feel like every thought is negative. The reason for that being your mother. She wasn’t with you physically, but her words still stuck.
If you were in bed too long, you could hear her telling you to get up. If you ate something with too many carbs, you could hear her telling you to put it away. If you spoke back to someone, you could hear her screaming. Some days you think you can still feel the burn of her hand on your cheek.
The triggers for these days are unknown. You do your best to block it out and seem positive as to not bother anyone, but you believe what she’s done is so ingrained in you it’s like your own thoughts.
Your girlfriend has been wonderful. A listener, provider, friend. She’s the first thing that’s felt like home in a long time. So it’s no surprise that you felt like you would scare her away. They made themselves known one weekend when wanda was out of town visiting family. Being back in your apartment with barely any stimulation was like leaving an open seat for the devil to arrive.
It started out simple. Just about yourself and how down you can be. It was somewhat positive as you had tried and successfully held off a few of them. You had to remind yourself of how grateful you should be, of how you’ve got a brother who cares, and a lovely girlfriend.
It started twisting out of control when it went past a day. One popping out of nowhere saying how down you are. It then did the worst by bringing Wanda into it. Why would she want to stay with someone who requires so much work? The emotional load on you felt treacherous; One you cannot handle most days, so how could Wanda?
It’s been two days since she’s been gone and since your triggered spiral. Wanda had called you when you were eating dinner. You hesitated, hand twitching from where it lay on your lap. You could text her to call you back later. It might be better to not drag her into it so soon. You can deal with your own thoughts yourself.
The two days turned into four, and the one missed call turned into six.
Your mind felt heavy. No matter where you went you could feel tears building in your eyes. Why weren’t you good enough for your mother. Why have you failed at a social life. Why did Wanda care for someone like you when she could have another who has their life together.
It was disgusting to talk about yourself like that, but how are you supposed to know after the childhood you had? Any compliment given to you felt like a non-stick band-aid. It’s purpose to cover a wound, but it falls off. It all felt like lies.
After five days your phone went silent. It still lit up, a text from Wanda asking if you were okay. To not worry her, you told her you were fine, just tired.
On Wanda’s end she was confused, concerned, and hurt. Her calls went unanswered and her tests went unread unless they were serious. Her last choice was to give you space and let you come to her.
It was mistake on both ends. A tiny crack changing into a chasm. Silence became common, but extremely uncomfortable between the two of you. No texts, no calls, radio silence.
When Wanda had come back, she had a sliver of hope you’d show up to practice and explain all of what was going on. When you realized practice was tomorrow, you had hope that Wanda would be ecstatic to see you and explain how she does need you.
Neither happened.
You were full of anxiety walking into the building, ears ringing. Tyler had been looking over at you often, but he’s been with you longer and understands. Wanda didn’t understand, watching from afar as you don’t think to come find her like before. It was like two separate people, you before she left and when she came back. She called everyone over and began practice as usual.
You felt an ache start in your chest, one pure as opposed to the others. It begged for you to seek comfort, for her to tell you it was all alright. You were fearful though, scared if you came to her she would react like your mother. The second practice was over you were almost rushing out, heart beating like it was going to fall out. Wanda had skated to the exit, previous emotions highlighted after what just happened.
“You need to talk to her, I haven’t seen you like this in—“
“I really don’t want to talk about this Tyler. I don’t want to hear another thing that I’m messing up alright?”
He nodded and swallows, looking out the window. Another mistake your mother would have represented you for. What kind of aunt talks to their nephew like that?
You drop him off and sit alone in your car for a minute. Wanda’s house was closer. And oh how every part of you aches for her to hold you near. So you give in and type her address in on your phone.
Your chest feels like it’s squeezing as you walk up the stairs to her apartment. With her door in front of you, you knock. Chest filled with hope that she talk with you, let alone be home.
“Oh,” she opens the door and crosses her arms, “why’re you here?“
“Wanted to see you.”
“And why now instead of three days ago? What’s up with this new avoidant attitude?”
Your voice gets caught in your voice, “nothing. Can I just come in, please?”
“It’s not nothing,” she huffs, “why is it so difficult for you to tell me? Busy at work?”
“I didn’t want to bother you.”
“I would have understood if you would have communicated that? Leaving someone in the darkShe steps back so she can place her hand on the door. You feel your eyes water as she begins to close the door.
“I need some time,” is the last thing she says before the door is shut in your face.
Your tears feel like they’re drying up as hurt and shock fills up every bone in your body. It was the last thing you had hoped to happen. You regretted driving here, now you have to deal with blurry highways. You wipe at your face with your sleeve and climb back into your car. You really surprise yourself at how you keep your composure until you’re back in your own apartment complex.
A cry comes from deep within you, one different from the previous days. This one hurt.
.˚₊┈୨♡୧┈₊˚.
Your days felt empty. It was hard most days to get out of bed and concentrate. You were thankful work wasn’t miserable, it ran its usual course for a typical 9-5 job.
Your brother tried his best, but gave you space unless you intentionally seemed him out. He was deeply saddened when you had came to him the night after you had fought with Wanda. His house was opened to you that night. It usually is, but it was especially after that day.
You continued to take Tyler to practice. Each trip there felt like you were chipping away at your heart. Wanda wouldn’t look at you and it felt worse than her glaring at you. Now you regret not answering her first call and being truthful.
Your thoughts shifted. Once being self destructive and now they’re empty. You would avoid looking in Wanda’s direction and now she’s what your eyes are looking for when you walk in the arena.
You were sat on the bleachers, watching Tyler play and occasionally looking over to Wanda. You tried to have hope that she would look over to you, acknowledge that you were there. It was another day of mourning what would never happen.
Your chest heaves and you’re quick to clamber down the steps. A few steps is all it took to carry yourself outside. Nothing on your mind but to leave before your tears would be a show for everyone around you. It was moments like these that made you wonder why anyone would want to seek out drama.
You gasp once you’re outside, trying to breathe in the fresh air but it feels like you can’t fully take a breath. The door behind you shuts, catching you off guard. You twist around and falter when you see Wanda.
“Wanda,” you cry.
Her eyes are sad as she watches you crumble, hands already reaching for you. You sink into her, hands moving around her to pull at the back of her long sleeve. Listening to your cries break her, tears forming in her own eyes as she stands there with you. Once the tears begin to quit, your face grows warm at noticing a family at the playground nearby.
“I’m sorry,” you say, voice cracking.
“No reason to be. You’re not required to wait until the perfect moment to cry, sometimes it just happens,” she runs a hand over your face, wiping her fingers over your puffy, tear-stained eyes.
“Tyler told me to come find you.”
“Oh, practice—“ you started to tear up again and she’s quick to be stern with you.
“Do not feel bad or apologize for anything else. I want you to stop being so hard on yourself. Listen to me. Practice ended. Tyler’s dad is coming to pick him up. Im going to pack up and then we’re going to leave, okay? I want you to quiet that mind, if you need me I’ll be right beside you, alright?”
You nod. Her hand finds yours, pulling you through the arena as she finishes up. She grabs any remaining hockey sticks, setting them back in the closet. You follow her around aimlessly, occasionally helping her.
“I parked out back this time,” she grabs her bag and keys off the stand, eyes looking to you after. She asks how you’re feeling, and this time you’re honey. You shrug.
“Let’s go home.”
.˚₊┈୨♡୧┈₊˚.
You’re not even a step into her apartment before she’s pulling you into a hug. A shaky sigh escaping her like she’s trying not to cry.
Your head hurts miserably from crying everyday, but hearing her hold it back causes another wave. It hurts when they form, but they still make an appearance, showing that your heart still has space to be wounded.
“While I do wish you’d have told me earlier that you’ve been feeling this way, I am not upset or angry at you for it,” she sets her forehead on yours.
“I am so sorry,” she cups your cheek as her own tears fall, “I said things I should have never said. And I pushed you away when I should have held you closer.”
“I don’t care,” you tuck your face under hers, “can we talk about this mess later.”
You feel her head move in a nod. Her hands pull you towards her room, where you both fall onto it.
She smiles, but it doesn’t feel real. You turn around so you can slide back into her. Wanda wraps her arms around you, pulling you close to her and sets her face on your shoulder.
“I’ve missed you.”
“Understatement,” you say and she laughs softly.
She presses a kiss to your cheek, “I want to stay here like this forever.”
“I love you.”
The three words take her back. Before you know it you’ve started another cry session. She flips you onto your back, smiling at the sounds you make when she kisses your face.
“Kiss me properly,” you demand, hands firmly holding her face in place. Wanda closes the gap, pulling your face closer and deepening it.
“I love you too,” she whispers against your lips, pressing a kiss between each word. Her arms wrap around you again, holding you tight. Being around her like this quiets all thoughts.
Resolving and moving past the situation will take open communication, but you’re both willing to take another chance. It was after you talked that you both realized the importance of being open with your partner as to not cause a misunderstanding. You both made an effort to not do anything before again. It took a little to work past the after-conflict. After a week, it was in the past. Every moment spent together was like you were mending what happened, and working towards the next day. Confessions and spending time together became frequent.

The couch was a mess. Pages of scribbled notes littered the space. Some were placed gently atop the cushions while others were balled up like yesterdays trash. You, bundled in an oversized hoodie and pajama pants, sat like an island in the middle of a paper ocean.
The volume on your laptop was low, but Natasha could hear the sounds of a calm British narrator. She peeked over the back of the couch, confirming it was another documentary on your newest fixation.
“Have you ever heard of a basking shark?” the question broke a lull in conversation the night prior.
“Aren't they really big?” Natasha asked. Wanda furrowed her brows.
“There are different kinds?” the witch asked. Your eyes lit up and a smile overtook your features. Your words poured out faster and faster as you described something akin to a mythical beast. A mighty gentle giant that only feeds on plankton, but due to one reason or another their numbers were dwindling.
Today, it appears to be thresher sharks that have caught your attention.
“The cartilage in the Thresher Sharks long tail works as an effective hunting device. They are the only type of shark known to use its tail, swinging it in front of itself at a speed that stuns several fish at a time. Like the rest of the shark family, these creatures are covered in small dermal denticles. They are placoid scales that cut through the water surrounding the shark, propelling it faster and more quietly while it swims,” the voice filled the lounge and Natasha smiled as you stretched your arms over your head, letting out a small yawn.
“Maybe it's time to go to bed, love,” Natasha rested her form against the back of the couch, leaning forward to peck your cheek from behind. You let out a small grunt to disagree.
“It's just getting good,” Your voice was heavy with the prospect of sleep and the spy smiled to herself. Rounding the couch, Natasha was wordless as she moved just enough of the scattered pages to sit next to you. Both pairs of eyes focused on the screen in front of them, letting the next hour pass with ease.
A little past 2 am was when Wanda woke up. It had been hours since Natasha promised to drag you up to bed, but now the witch found herself alone. She tugged the blanket over her shoulders, but the warmth there could never compare to being held by on of her partners. With a small huff, Wanda slowly gathered herself to find where the two of you disappeared to. The amount of effort it took to stand felt as if Wanda was raising herself from the dead.
Every light was off expect for the light in the living room. No longer tired, you were back to your adorable self, talking Natasha’s ear off with more facts and things that you felt the narrator oversimplified in his explanations of bamboo sharks. Natasha was also awake, working with a dull pencil to shade in the shark she was drawing. Hers looked more like a random blob on the page while yours was littered with detail and was more anatomically correct. Even the way you shaded it had logic behind it.
“Their colors have purpose. It's like a full body illusion they've adapted to help them survive,” you argued.
“Pretty much all fish have adapted like that,” She pointed out.
“Yeah, but sharks!” you argued right back and Natasha gave a hearty laugh.
Wanda stood in the threshold of the room, watching her two partners argue while they sprawled out on the floor. Natasha was sitting criss-crossed, her torso bent forward and her tongue sticking out slightly as she focused harder on the shading. You, however, were laid out on your stomach, your feet kicked up in the air, swaying back and forth as you uncapped a light blue marker.
Childish. Cute.
Wanda wrapped her arms around herself to retain heat while she made her way to sit with the two of you. There was no way she could convince both of you to get to bed while you were this awake. Not that she’d want to anyway... It wasn't often that your hyperfixations took over you so completely for so long, but she liked when you found anything that compelling.
It always made the world feel a little lighter. Wanda didn't want to go back to sleep anymore. Like Natasha, she wanted to hear the excitement in your voice again.

{Part 1} {Part 2}
In the quaint town of Westview, the arrival of Wanda Maximoff had stirred up whispers of curiosity. The enigmatic newcomer was more than just a history teacher at the local high school; she was a puzzle waiting to be solved. And amidst the intrigue stood Y/n L/n—a bright, independent student with a knack for getting herself into situations that defied logic.
It was a crisp autumn morning when (Y/n) found herself seated in the back row of Ms. Maximoff's history class, her gaze drifting between the blackboard and her phone. The lesson, it seemed, was about the Battle of Gettysburg—a topic that had never quite held her interest. Her thoughts wandered, weaving through the mundane and the fantastical.
"(Y/n), care to share your thoughts on the Gettysburg Address?" Ms. Maximoff's voice, with its gentle yet commanding timbre, pulled her from her daydreams.
(Y/n) blinked, her cheeks flushing as she realized all eyes were on her. "Uh, sure. So, the Gettysburg Address was delivered by Abraham Lincoln, right? He, um, talked about equality and stuff."
Ms. Maximoff raised an eyebrow, her lips twitching into an amused smile. "Close enough. Lincoln's speech indeed focused on equality and the preservation of the nation."
The rest of the class passed in a haze of disinterest and unfocused attention. As the bell rang, (Y/n) gathered her belongings and made her way out, her thoughts drifting away from history and toward the mysteries that surrounded Ms. Maximoff.
Weeks turned into months, and as the town's landscapes transformed with the changing seasons, (Y/n)'s curiosity about her enigmatic history teacher remained unquenched. She spent her free moments attempting to decipher the puzzle that was Wanda Maximoff—searching for traces of her past, her motivations, and the secrets she carried.
One evening, after the final bell had rung, (Y/n) lingered in the classroom, pretending to organize her notes. As the other students filed out, Ms. Maximoff approached, her presence as enigmatic as ever.
"(Y/n), is there something you'd like to discuss?" Her tone was warm, inviting curiosity.
(Y/n) looked up, her gaze meeting Ms. Maximoff's. "Actually, I was wondering if you'd be open to some extra help. History's not really my strong suit."
Ms. Maximoff's smile was gentle, her eyes holding a mixture of encouragement and intrigue. "I'm always here to help, (Y/n). Feel free to come by my office after school if you need assistance."
The offer lingered in the air between them—a bridge connecting curiosity and companionship. Over the weeks that followed, (Y/n) took advantage of the opportunity, seeking Ms. Maximoff's guidance in history. The one-on-one sessions evolved into more than just academic discussions; they were conversations that spanned time and space, delving into the intricacies of history and life itself.
As winter descended upon Westview, their interactions grew more frequent. (Y/n) found herself drawn not just to the subject matter but to the woman herself. There was a spark of something—a connection that defied explanation.
One chilly evening, as snowflakes danced in the air, (Y/n) knocked on Ms. Maximoff's front door. The door swung open, revealing a cozy interior bathed in warm light.
"Come in, (Y/n)," Ms. Maximoff said, her smile welcoming as she ushered (Y/n) inside.
The sessions became a regular routine, a blend of laughter, discussions, and moments of quiet contemplation. (Y/n)'s heart raced whenever Ms. Maximoff looked her way, her smile sending shivers down her spine. There was a familiarity in those eyes—a familiarity that begged to be explored.
One day, as they sat in Ms. Maximoff's living room, a photograph caught (Y/n)'s attention. It was a picture of Ms. Maximoff, arm in arm with a woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to (Y/n)'s own mother.
"Is that...?" (Y/n)'s voice trailed off as she pointed at the photograph.
Ms. Maximoff's gaze softened, her fingers tracing the edges of the frame. "Yes. That's my best friend, your mother."
(Y/n)'s heart pounded in her chest as she processed the revelation. The threads of fate that had brought Ms. Maximoff into her life were woven with a familiarity she had never expected.
"Your mother and I were close," Ms. Maximoff continued, her voice tinged with a mix of fondness and nostalgia. "We lost touch over the years, but it seems fate has a way of bringing people back together."
(Y/n)'s mind was a whirlwind of emotions—surprise, confusion, and a growing realization. As Ms. Maximoff's gaze met hers, the air crackled with a tension that neither could deny.
Their conversations grew more intimate, their words laced with unspoken truths. And then, one evening, as the snow fell gently outside, (Y/n)'s gaze met Ms. Maximoff's, her heart pounding in her chest.
"(Y/n)," Ms. Maximoff began, her voice soft yet steady. "There's something I've wanted to tell you."
(Y/n)'s breath caught in her throat, anticipation mingling with uncertainty. "What is it?"
Ms. Maximoff's eyes held a mixture of vulnerability and hope. "I've felt a connection with you from the moment we met. And as time went on, that connection only grew stronger."
(Y/n)'s heart raced, the pieces falling into place. The familiarity, the unspoken tension—it was all leading to this moment.
"(Y/n)," Ms. Maximoff said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I have feelings for you, feelings that go beyond teacher and student."
The air was charged with an electric energy, a moment suspended in time. (Y/n)'s gaze met Ms. Maximoff's, her heart pounding in her chest.
And then, before either of them could say more, a knock at the door shattered the moment. Their eyes met, the connection between them unbroken yet undeniably altered.
As (Y/n) left that evening, the snow-covered streets felt like a metaphor for the tangled threads of fate that now bound them together.

A Simple Meet-Cute
Summary: A slow night at your job picks up with the presence of a certain woman in red, this meeting also serves as the precedent for your life-course to shift...
Pairing: ???Wanda Maximoff x Hyena!Mutant!Reader
[S.S AU Masterlist]
Warning(s): Dark Themes; there's no smut in this one, but this is an 18+ AU aka MINORS DNI. To start we got depictions of breaking bones (not in depth, but it’s there, suggestion of murder, mention of mutant trafficking (did I really go back there again? Yeah, but this time with a dash of discrimination toward mutants), let’s see… language and general violence, cuz hey, you know what I get up to...kinda-
Note(s): This timeline-wise is way before "The Bigger Picture". I figure after I had my medias res moment, I wanted to go ahead double back to show how Wanda and R met. Were they done around the same time? Yes….And your point? I'll also go ahead and say that they're both a part of the Scarlet Syndicate AU. The masterlist should be up pretty soon, and I hope you enjoy this one :3
Word Count: in the realm of 1.8k

Mutants. The next evolution in human genetics can manifest at any time and take many forms. Some develop their mutations when they're in the throes of puberty or while in adolescence. Others have had their mutation since they were born or haven’t had them appear until they’ve gone into adulthood.
In this world, humans far outnumber mutants in population, and people are more content to ostracize those who are mutants, as man has well been known to fear and even hate what they do not understand...
“Table seven is clear, hon,” You turned to see Miss Monica pointing to the back area. Nodding, you grabbed your rag and made your way to the newly unoccupied table littered with pools of water left by sweating drinks and crumpled napkins.
It was only maybe a quarter past eight, but the bar was already running thin with patrons. The quieter hum of voices compared to the usual clambering of laughter and muddled conversation clued you in to the change easily. As you cleaned, you caught a glimpse of the designated VIP section of The Photon Call. There you saw a small group that had been there for at least two hours now.
The woman at the head of the table was dressed in a form-fitting burgundy suit paired with a glossy black heel, blacked out sunglasses framing her face. A muted fruity smell with a hint of something else followed her stride. She came in with two men and another woman, who were all dressed formally. Monica merely nodded toward the woman when they came in before she had Jimmy lead them to the VIP area.
Looking at the group now, you noticed their “leader” of sorts had now taken off her sunglasses, moving some of her auburn hair out of her face. Her green eyes were just visible in the lower light. They had an extra person with them who was sitting across from the woman dressed in deep red. This man you remembered from a short time ago. he came in some time after the group he was now seated with. he was a bit of a crude figure, and he’d been rather transparent about his distaste toward you, his nose turned up at your short tail and pronounced ears as you directed him to the VIP area. You’d been privy to a few choice words muttered under his breath as well.
There was a light sheen on his forehead now that there wasn’t before, now that they'd all finished eating. His scent was more pungent as well; he’s nervous now, and a bit fearful. Though his posture is upright, there was a stiffness to his movements when he was speaking. It was a stark contrast to the others sitting at the table who remained confident and relaxed, though you noticed the growing boredom and aggravation from the head lady as she swirled the drink in her glass lazily.
When the gray-haired man finished speaking, the woman across from him simply raised a brow and checked the watch on her wrist. The other woman in the seat next to her, who was also a redhead, shifted in her seat. Her aggravation had been there since he’d started talking.
The leading woman set her glass down lightly, “Your offer has already been considered and denied, Hayward. I have other matters to attend to, so I believe we’re done here.”
The bluntness and brevity of her statement noticeably took the man aback as he floundered for his words. “B-but you have to understand, Wanda! This is for the benefit of the company-”
“What I understand is you can’t take a hint, Tyler. You call me out past my business hours, which should be well known to you, to propose an increase in mutant laborers as a ludicrous idea to increase production rates for my company. You also know my stance on such practices, which is why I’m left confused as to why you thought I would agree to it to begin with. I wonder if you’re having a gargantuan lapse in judgment, or if you’re really at the meeting point where bold meets stupid.”
The woman, Wanda, remained unflinching as the older man, Hayward, abruptly got up from his seat in outrage. Your hand slowed wiping down the booth seats as you noticed a spike in anger and resentment along with a feeling you’ve come to recognize as violent intent. The other redheaded woman shifted forward a bit, probably as a natural response. Hayward’s back was to you, and he garnered a lot of attention all on his own, so no one really noticed you move closer behind him.
“You don’t think you’ll defer to me? With one call my associates and I make motion to flip your company around on you so fast it'd make your head spin. So, I'll tell you what, you little bitch-”
It was when he went to move and touch Wanda that you restrained the man, your rag wrapped around his wrists and his arms behind his back. His right arm was now bent in a weird way, the connected shoulder probably came out of its socket, but that didn’t make you stop. All the while, Wanda and the people with her remained calm, if a bit surprised.
Wanda raised a brow at the actions of this new person restraining one Tyler Hayward. Now, Natasha warned her that her own senses were going off due to Hayward’s visible increase in anger, and she didn’t need to read the man’s mind to confirm it. Had he gotten anywhere close to harming her or was even capable of it, she would have ended him not even with a flick of her wrist.
But now she’s simply watching you effectively take the unsuspecting man to the floor, both of his arms were bent oddly and essentially broken at this point. A twisted growl streamed out of your mouth with sporadic hiccups here and there. Hayward continued to hurl threats at you as you kept your knees on the backs of his thighs, keeping him from moving.
Nothing seems to register as you simply looked up at Wanda and those with her, eyes shifting between each of them to make sure they weren't disturbed. You kept Hayward’s broken arms locked behind his back with one hand, reaching around and forcefully gripping his face with the other; shutting him up for the most part. You hunched over Hayward’s shoulder and turned his head to face you with your eyes meeting his, your eyes now giving off a dull orange glow.
Followed by what might be considered a misplaced giggle passing your lips, Wanda watched as Hayward seemed to fold in on himself. His thrashing to retaliate turned into a struggle to seemingly just get away from your gaze.
"Done yet?" Your voice came out low and close to his ear, and you heard his heart rate pick up further as your hand clenched harder in his hair.
‘Please, please, please! I don’t want to be here! I have to get out, dammit!’
It was odd for all of them to see this sudden change in attitude, no doubt caused by the mutant busboy who still had yet to say a word to them directly.
You looked up to see Wanda and those with her rising from their seats, the two men moving toward your form still holding Hayward to the floor. The old man was basically blubbering at this point, almost incoherent due to his erratic breathing.
“I believe Sam and Bucky can handle things from here. Do you mind?” Wanda’s voice was even as she spoke to you. You moved off of Hayward’s body and out of the way for, who you now know as Sam and Bucky, to heave him off of the ground. “Take him out back boys. We’ll let Monica know on our way out, give her a heads up before we send in the sweepers.” Her gaze settled on you as you stood up from the floor. You felt a spike of curiosity coming from the woman left with her that only persisted when Wanda stepped closer to you.
Wanda eyed you up and down as your eyes shone back at her. “I’d like to thank you for your assistance, regardless of the necessity. I don’t think I’ve seen you work at Monica's bar before,”
You gave a single nod, “I’m new.” Your voice was gravelly and clipped, Wanda noticing that there was noticeable scarring around your throat that would lead one to assume you sustained an injury of some kind.
Looking into your mind was its own venture. Your immediate memories were a mirror of the events that transpired, the people talking in them making unintelligible noises, not unlike the adults in Peanuts cartoons.
The further back Wanda looked, the fuzzier they got, like the hippocampus was affected directly. There were some that were clear as day: The day your father traded you to the prime minister of Niganda for his own freedom. Your first days under a “Dr. Paine” and your short-lived freedom after the lab was taken down. Some of your time in mutant trafficking including a few of the “masters'' who had you. A clear recollection of the man who had your vocal cords clipped for being mouthier than he’d like. The day you escaped, and finally to the day Monica found you wandering Mutant Town before hiring you here about a month ago.
These "core memories" were on a subconscious and grating loop in your mind so that you couldn't forget them. Everything else in between was basically lost as it was like trying to look through frosted glass. There was little direction and purpose other than surviving to the next day.
Equal parts distressing and intriguing to say the least…
As Wanda spent the last minute or so staring you down, your focus shifted to the woman behind Wanda. You didn’t catch her name, but you know she was a mutant based off of the distinct sweet smell complimenting her rainwater and pine trail.
They’re obviously close; she hasn’t stepped away from Wanda’s side once. Not too many humans would willingly put themselves in the company of mutants. Guess you can count this Wanda woman among those in the minority along with a few others like your boss.
When Wanda comes back to the present, she stares at you with a new light in her eyes as they dipped down to your nametag. “I like you, Y/n. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of each other.” She rested a hand on your shoulder and suddenly you smelled a change in her scent- no, it became clearer.
Wanda’s scent was a sugar-coated apricot with a spike of cinnamon as it accented the air around her, then it hit you:
Wanda is also a mutant.
And somehow you knew you’d remember her for the long haul.

Can you do 🤝🏽 Hand holding with Wanda x R?
hi yes ty for sending!!
It was no secret that Wanda loves physical touch. After losing her twin, she sought nearly that same comfort with you. It took a while for the two of you to become close, but now Wanda is hardly seen without you. ‘Attached at the hip’, everyone always said. But it was just as much a comfort to you as it was for her.
It was also no secret that Wanda is more reserved than you are. So while she loved spending every moment with you; when the team was around, she was a little shy to say the least. Hand holding and cuddles became holding pinkies. And although you were certain you’d never tell her, holding her pinky in yours was your favorite.
It felt like a promise, a pledge, an unspoken secret. Wanda was yours to have and to hold pinkies with. Team movie nights where the two of you shared a blanket, your pinkies were connected. Out shopping together? Pinkies connected. Even in the privacy of your own rooms; as Wanda loved to practically lay on top of you, she played with your fingers and loved your pinky the most.
She was most shy when Natasha pointed it out one day; not to poke fun, but just out of sheer curiosity. “Why do you two always hold pinkies?”
Wanda blushed profusely and tried to run but you held her close and squeezed her pinky with yours. “Comfort,” you shrugged. And Natasha left it alone after that.
You noticed Wanda was extra clingy after missions without you, the withdrawal of pinky holding and infinite snuggles taking a toll on her mental health. It wasn’t long after that you’d had an idea. You and Wanda went to a local jeweler and picked out two basic rings, ones that looked like hearts tied in knots together and got them sized for both of your pinkies. This way you’d never truly be without one another.
A promise, a pledge, an unspoken secret. Love.

Countdown to Coven of Chaos: Day 521
Agatha: “Pink flesh and bone come forth when I call! Twist and break, flush with echoes of a haunted past, hear my plea!
Wanda: “New spell?”
Agatha: “Yeah, I’m trying to summon forth a creature of darkness to do my bidding”
Wanda: “In my basement?”
*an axolotl pops into existence*
Wanda: “Was that what you wanted to do? It is pink.”
Agatha: “Yeah but I was thinking a demon! Not…that squishy thing”
Y/N: *rushes over and scoops it up* “Hello! Looks like we need to get you a tank of water pronto!”
Agatha: “Hey!! That’s my creature of darkness you have there!”

i can totally see kitten shape shift into a cat whenever someone she's not too fond of is visiting wanda so she can have little to no interaction with that person
Haha I can see that too! Oh gosh now I'm imagining Stephen Strange being on Kitten's bad side...
Tumblr media
"Somebody's coming." You said, ears and tail twitching as you sniffed the air. Wanda was in the middle of baking some cookies and you were arranging some flowers from your garden. Something was off though as you sniffed someone getting closer to the cottage where you two resided.
Wanda nodded and lifted a hand, her red magic swirling around her fingers. "I can feel it too. Easy girl, Mistress will take care of it." She kissed your temple and went outside and you peaked out the front door, curiosity getting the better of you.
"Wanda, good to see you again." You let out a groan at the voice of Stephen Strange. You and your Mistress hated this man, always thinking he was better than everyone else. Coming over unannounced. Wanda was always friendly but that didn't mean you had to be.
You quickly changed into your cat form and meowed loudly to get the attention of the two people talking on the porch. You walked out to them and rubbed up affectionately against Wanda's leg. She chuckled softly and bent down to give you a scratch. As she did she whispered, "naughty kitty," to which you meowed again.
"I didn't know you had a cat. It's fitting for you," Stephen reached down to give you a pet, but you hissed and swatted at his hand, making Stephen jump back started.
Wanda had to hold back her laughter as she picked you up and cradled you close. You purred loudly as you rubbed up against her cheek.
"Sorry Stephen, she doesn't like men. If there wasn't anything you needed, I think it's best if you go."
