stop feeling hopeless, start getting ready

If you are in a red state, your state either has an abortion ban in place or is rated by the Guttmacher Institute as likely to enact a ban. Your focus should be on protecting yourself and others who need abortions.
stop using electronic period tracking apps or software
educate yourself and others about pregnancy prevention and join groups that are making preventative birth control more accessible
learn the nearest and most accessible routes to states where you and your loved ones can access abortion
contribute to mutual aid funds to help transport people over state lines if they are in need of abortion
consider joining The Satanic Temple so you can claim protections under the Religious Abortion Ritual if you are prosecuted for obtaining an abortion
keep a stock of by-mail abortion pills for yourself and/or others who may need them (you may need to travel out of state to obtain them)
form community provider networks and see if you or someone you know can be trained to use manual vacuum aspiration kits or a Del-Em
all of the above should be done in complete secrecy using verbal communication, end-to-end encrypted apps such as Signal, or a VPN
If you are in a yellow state, you currently have constitutional abortion protections but they are in jeopardy. Get active in local political groups NOW to fight back against constitutional amendments to ban abortion. Your focus should be purely on political action.
If you are in Michigan, you currently have a ban in place which is being challenged, and your governor is working to add abortion protections into the Michigan state constitution. Your focus should be on supporting the work that is currently under way.
If you are in a green state, your state has constitutional protections for abortion that are unlikely to be challenged. Your focus should be on helping others to enter your state for abortion care.
connect with abortion access groups such as Aid Access, Abortion on Demand, the National Network of Abortion Funds, or Just The Pill
volunteer to help people enter your state for abortion care, either with transportation help or letting someone crash on your couch
if you live in a green state with no current or predicted primary routes from other states for abortion access, you can focus your efforts on supporting political action in other areas
If you are in a purple state, your state currently has no constitutional protections for abortion but is unlikely to implement a ban. You have two focuses: pushing for constitutional protections AND helping others to enter your state for abortion care (see green state list).

I feel like this shouldn’t be a hot take but maybe if you take into consideration what happened in the last three years it makes sense people are exhausted and grieving. Let’s not be so hard on ourselves for going through a pandemic, for going through loss, for going through economic recession and political instability, while being forced to go on as if nothing is happening. Let’s not fall into the mindset that we are weak because we are suffering, or that we deserve that suffering, because when you think about it, too much has been going on, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by this.

in good faith regarding that biden post i just want to ask like if you really feel as though the dems across the board have better intentions for positive change rather than maintaining the status quo of their position? Like genuinely great to hear about the accomplishments of course but the things that were bad when trump was president haven’t really changed for the better in the time biden was president. Plus the current situation with Palestine and how biden is doing so much to arm Israel with even more tools of destruction that his own staff held a protest against those actions, it just feels like there’s a lot more bad than good in the grand scheme of things at the end of these past four years.
like yeah anger sells but also some of these bad things that has happened under the watch of this administration feel like they outweigh some of the better good things this administration has done if that makes sense?
I don’t disagree that Democratic Party has been pretty dogshit and is pushing for just maintaining the unsustainable status quo. The issue comes in the notable party that opposes the Democratic Party, which is just literally christian fascism whose current big talking point is how LGBT people deserve to be shot in the street (only slightly exaggerating in some instances)
Thats why in the tags I put that american politics is hell. Both sides are awful horseshit. But one of them is so so significantly worse.

Hey. Fun fact.
Germany is replaying the beginning of the Third Reich now.
The Too-German-Didn’t-Read is that main guys of the right-extremist party that is currently on a major rise, AfD, met with actual neo-nazis discussing plans to deport millions of people, those being anyone whose families came here after WW2 + anyone helping immigrants and refugees, to a fucking "Model State in North Africa“ specifically conscripted for the sole purpose of keeping them there.
And a good chunk of the other politicians plus the main law council itself that could do anything against it is saying it can’t ban them because the AfD isn’t proven to be acting in incitement enough.
Fun.

Gonna make something real clear right now.
I am 100% pro-abortion.
Abortion should always be legal and available to anyone who needs one.

So apparently, I've discovered that pretty much YouTube/Twitter reactionary is trying to get Scott Pilgrim fans outraged at the new show for (you guessed it) not conforming to their bigoted political agendas.
God, I hate these fucking clowns.

Thoughts on Palestine;
Hamas, an organisation that owes its creation largely to the actions of the Israeli state, are a fundamentalist terror group that controls Gaza by force and has no elected mandate from the people. It has targeted a largely unarmed civilian populace in violation of the rules of war.
The IDF, no stranger to violating the rules of war, is responding to this attack in an entirely disproportionate manner, having blocked all humanitarian supplies from reaching Gaza and begun the systematic air bombardment of the area. Again, it’s targeting a largely unarmed civilian populace in violation of the rules of war.
This is a dirty, nasty war between dirty nasty organisations and it’s only going to lead to the suffering of innocent people - and as the IDF kicks into gear, most of that suffering will be of Palestinians. It’s honestly just a bitterly depressing thing.

How well do you think Arknights handles the societal issues it deals with? I've seen people criticize it compared to say Limbus Company for not being radical enough. (Comparison being the Near Light rerun with the first mission of Limbus Company going for killing tax collectors and border guards etc... )
So, I drafted a 4,400 word response a while ago and debated on whether I should send it, but just today I saw a post that basically sums it all up in way fewer.
In my opinion, "not radical enough" is an unfair judgment of something that is already good (Near Light, for example, has a sincere message), because it implies the only thing a person ever wants is perfection to what they personally want and believe... Which simply isn't smart or realistic.
I do think Arknights has missteps. For example, I don't really like this whole Sarkaz business in the main story right now. Also I thought Guiding Light was kind of stupid. But overall, Arknights wants to depict conflict between human parties with real motives on all sides, and I'd say 90+% of the time they are successful and very well-written. Even if it can get kinda centrist. Just because a character is the boss you fight on a stage, that doesn't mean they don't have a good, serious reason to be there. Their messages and stories are far more ambitious and risky than Limbus Company's because they are strongly rooted from real-world events and countries on large scales, while Project Moon has excised nearly everything from their setting except a pure distilled classism struggle, too great and too entrenched for any one person to change. Rodion killed one tax collector and all her neighbors died. LCB made a fuss at a border checkpoint and got slaughtered.
Project Moon wants to show you the horrors of hyper-capitalism, Hypergryph wants to show you why war and conflict happens between people. I like them both and they both achieve their goals well.
