Part 1?

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder… and in this case, Kasumi couldn’t stand the distance between her and her childhood friend. The little (hair color) girl had been withdrawn as of late and Kasumi didn’t know why… it broke her heart that her friend didn’t vent to her. They were eight and ten! They would be teenagers soon and then adults… they had a lifetime to grow old together! So (your name) should be able to tell Kasumi what was wrong.

“I-I’m moving away, Kasumi.”

(Your name) and Kasumi had been inseparable for years and now the young woman was moving away? No. Kasumi’s ten year old heart couldn’t handle this…

Kasumi grasped (your name)’s little hands in her own, her dark eyes glassy with tears. Kasumi puffed out her bottom lip in a pout, her grip was strong despite her size.

“No you can’t move away! You said we’d be together forever!” Kasumi loudly wailed, the tears fell down her face in waterfalls. (Your name) frowned and pulled the other little girl into her arms. Kasumi then began to throw a tantrum. “You promised! You promised! You promised!”

Kasumi continued to sob while (your name) held her close, the other girl buried her face into the crook of Kasumi’s neck. Kasumi clung to her like a little koala, her nose buried in (your name)’s sweater to inhale her sweet scent.

(Your name)’s eight year old body cuddled close to Kasumi’s, the young girl pressed a soft kiss to Kasumi’s forehead. Kasumi pulled (your name) as close to her little body as she could but it wasn’t enough. Kasumi wanted to conjoin with her best friend so they’d never be separated.

“I’m sorry, Kasumi. My mom and dad are getting divorced so Mom and I are moving to Canada.” (Your name)‘s body shook as she began to cry too. “I don’t want to leave you, Kasumi…”

“Then let’s make another promise!” Kasumi pulled away, the young girl wiped her snot on her sleeve. She had to look brave… Kasumi didn’t want (your name) to think she was weak and couldn’t protect her. “When we meet again let’s-“

(Your name) shot upright in bed, the young woman glanced around her bedroom in disbelief. She had that dream again… the one about her childhood friend in Japan…

(Your name) yawned and stretched her arms above her head. She needed to get around for the day before she went to go see her best friend, Jacqueline.

(Your name) crawled out of bed and hurried down the stairs, her feet pattered against the wooden stairs to alert Jacqueline of her whereabouts.

A giant blonde woman sat at the kitchen table. The table was neatly set up for two as she waited for (your name).

“Good morning, Jackie!” Jacqueline immediately rose up from the table and pulled (your name) into a tight hug. Jackie burrowed her face into (your name)’s hair and inhaled her sweet scent.

“It’s always a good morning when I get to see you…” It had been unbearable being apart from (your name) for the last few days. Jackie pressed a tender kiss to (your name)’s head, her cheeks slightly flushed. “Did you have any good dreams?”

“I had a dream about a my childhood friend again… and earlier I dreamed about having a baby.” (Your name) laughed. “Could you imagine me with a baby? Isn’t that silly?” Jackie could see (your name) with a baby. Anyone would be blessed to be with the kind young woman and it made Jackie wish even more that she was a man.

Jackie looked like a man from afar. She pushed her body past its limits, took a daily cocktail of steroids to maintain her physique, and even went as far as to lengthen her bones… Jacqueline wanted to prove to her mother that she was a Hanma too. That she was a force to be reckoned with.

Jacqueline, or Jackie, Hanma was a woman of intimidating stature. Her muscles were bigger than any man’s and her blonde hair was always shaved in a signature buzzcut. Jackie was uncouth and vicious to others… but she only had a soft spot for (your name), her must precious person.

(Your name) had met Jackie in a church when she first moved to Canada. A small Catholic Church that anyone would miss if they walked past it. But it’s where the two of them met. (Your name) had been separated from her mother and Jackie was intensely training to gain power.

Jackie remember how the young (your name) rushed over to the her when she noticed blood fall from her once blue eyes rather than tears. Jackie pushed (your name) away the first time they met. Jackie didn’t trust anyone in the world… her own father had abandoned her to her own devices so why should Jackie trust a stranger?

(Your name) tried numerous times to help the other girl, but Jackie had no interest in her friendship… at first. Jackie was apprehensive. What did (your name) gain by being close to her?

(Your name) constantly fretted over Jackie. She’d bring bandages and small meals to share with the blonde ten year old. Jackie would yell and shout to try to get (your name to leave. Yet it never worked, because to (your name), the blonde looked like a scared animal that constantly bared it’s teeth in defense. (Your name) knew that deep down, Jackie was lonely. And it made (your name) even more determined to befriend the ‘savage’ girl.

It took over a year, but Jackie allowed (your name) in when she felt like (your name) had no ulterior motive. It was the first time in Jackie’s life that someone gave her unconditional love, she didn’t know what to do…

So Jackie showed (your name) she cared in her own way. She chased off bullies and walked hand in hand with (your name) to school. Jackie sat with (your name) at lunch. It didn’t matter that she was twelve and (your name) was ten, Jackie found a way.

Jackie became extremely overprotective of (your name). Jackie chased off other people who tried to get close to the innocent girl. People were horrible… (your name) and her only needed each other. No one else.

As they approached their teens, Jackie’s training went to the extremes and her body began to collapse, but (your name) didn’t leave her side. (Your name) would help Jackie wash herself and made sure she ate and drank enough water.

(Your name) was Jackie’s rock. The light to the end of the tunnel. Her soulmate. And Jackie would do anything to protect (your name)… even murder.

And here they were today living in Japan together in their mid-twenties. Jackie was able to keep (your name) at their apartment most of the time, but it’s been getting harder and harder to since Jackie often landed herself into the hospital…

Jackie was terrified of (your name) finding better. Despite all their years together, they were only friends. Jackie wanted so much more with the smaller girl, but at the same time, she didn’t want to make (your name) uncomfortable.

Jackie pressed her lips to the top of (your name)’s head, her muscular arms still held the smaller girl in place.

“Don’t be mad at me, but I didn’t hear a thing you said.” Jackie chuckled when (your name) poked her nose. “Sorry, I was just down memory lane.”

“It’s okay, Jackie.” (Your name) leaned her head back so she could look up at her best friend. “I knew you were lost in thought. Your eyes glaze over and you look at the ceiling in awe. Is there something on your mind?”

Jackie sighed, there was no escape from (your name)’s observant eye. Jackie stood up with (your name) still snug in her arms, the other girl dropping her toast with the movement.

“My toast!” (Your name) screamed when Jackie playfully spun her around in a circle. “Put me down, you heathen!”

“I can toast you some new toast.” Jackie laughed the tall woman shifter hands to rest under (your name)’s arms.

“Maybe I formed an emotional connection with that specific piece of toast?” (Your name) crossed her arms over her chest. Jackie set her down.

“I will make you a new slice.” Jackie gave another peck to (your name)’s head. “As many as you want.”

“It still won’t be my piece of toast.” The two shared another laugh, Jackie felt her heart clench a bit.

Why couldn’t they date? They were so perfect together… couldn’t (your name) see that?

“You’re my piece of toast…” Jackie quietly whispered to herself.

The two sat together at their small table and continued to eat their breakfast. A comfortable silence between them.

(Your name) hummed a cheery tune as she meandered down the aisles at the store. She was determined to surprise Jackie with a home cooked meal since the blonde always took such good care of her.

(Your name) browsed the various meats until she spotted some beef chunks. She could make gyu kushi!

When the young girl reached her hand towards the meat, another hand brushed against hers.

“Oh I’m sorry-“ (your name) turned to look at the person she bumped into, only to come face to face with a rather muscular Japanese woman. Her dark eyes wide with shock and recognition.

“Ah-“ the woman clutched her hand close to her chest, a bright blush now on her face. This reaction weirded (your name) out a bit so the young woman took her chance the snatch the meat up and attempt to flee, but she was stopped by the woman. “(Y-your name)?”

(Your name) furrowed her brow in confusion. How did this woman know her?

“Um… yes?” The muscular woman pulled (your name) into a hug so tight, (your name) thought her body would conjoin with hers.

“It’s been so many years… when did you come back to Japan?” The woman speech was so quick, (your name) almost didn’t understand her. It didn’t help that (your name)’s face was smooshed between this other woman’s rather large chest. “I didn’t know if you’d ever return… I missed you so so much.”

The woman released (your name) and now (your name) could finally get a good look at her. Thick eye brows, cocky grin, and thick black hair in a pixie cut… was this, “Kasumi?”

Kasumi eagerly nodded her head. The young woman certainly filled out and was a lot more muscular than she remembered.

“Yes! It’s me, (your name)!” Kasumi pulled (your name) into another excited hug. “It’s been almost two decades since we last saw each other… can you believe that? And we’re finally reunited!”

(Your name) could hardly believe her luck. Here she just dreamed about Kasumi and now she stood in front of her… what were the odds?

“It has almost been that long hasn’t it?” (Your name) awkwardly chuckled. It’s been so long and yet Kasumi acted as if they were never apart. “I’ve been in Japan for awhile now so I’m amazed we haven’t run into each other-“

“You’ve been here awhile and you didn’t come looking for me?” (Your name) recoiled in shock at the tears that gathered in Kasumi’s eyes. She hadn’t meant to make Kasumi cry!

“I’m sorry, Kasumi. I didn’t think you’d still be waiting for me-“ Kasumi scooped (your name)’s hands together in her much larger hands.

“Of course! We promised to get married when we meet again.” Kasumi’s eyes sparkled. “I actually run the Shinshinkai dojo now! I have plenty of money so I could spoil you rotten.”

(Your name) burst into laughter, a jovial smile on her soft lips. Kasumi hadn’t changed a bit… the Japanese woman still proclaimed such outlandish things…

“It’s so nice to see that you haven’t changed.” (Your name) smiled at Kasumi, the Japanese woman’s heart stopped beating for a moment. Her childhood friend was still so cute and oblivious… if consumed Kasumi with even more vigor.

“How about I pay for you groceries and help you carry them back to your place? I’d love to catch up.” Kasumi offered with a smile. She bit her lip a bit in anticipation. She hoped (your name) accepted, she wanted to reconnect to her soon to be wife!

“You don’t have to pay for them, Kasumi!” (Your name) smiled warmly at Kasumi who merely blushed.

The young woman nervously ran a hand through her short black hair. Her heart beat wildly in her chest like a drum. Kasumi was so nervous… but she needed to show she was a good provider!

“I insist!” Kasumi bowed her head to (your name). The smaller woman chuckled at Kasumi’s demeanor. How could Kasumi still be so cute?

“You’re not going to take no for an answer, are you?” (Your name) smiled up at the muscular woman who only blushed.

“No I’m not.” Kasumi replied with a cheesy grin. “Hope that doesn’t bother you too much.”

“Not at all. Still as stubborn as always!” The two women laughed, Kasumi scooped up (your name)’s basket of groceries in her arm. “Hey, I can carry that! I’m not weak by any means.”

Kasumi chuckled when (your name) puffed out her chest, the young woman did the same. (Your name) quickly turned her head aways when she finally noticed just how large Kasumi’s chest was. Kasumi smirked at her reaction.

“Do you like what you see?”

“C-compose yourself, madam!” (Your name) blushed a bright cherry red. She softly stuttered, “I-I could see t-the outline.”

Kasumi then turned a bright red and quickly pulled her cardigan over her shirt. She hadn’t meant for (your name) to see that… but a part of her hoped (your name) liked them.

The two bashful women made it towards the checkout and eventually out of the store.

Kasumi carried all the groceries in one hand so she could off her other to (your name).

“Hey, (your name)?” (Your name) turned her head to look over at Kasumi. The sunset made the Japanese woman even more beautiful. “Do you… want to hold hands?”

(Your name) smiled at Kasumi and placed her small hand in Kasumi’s calloused one. “It’s been such a long time since we’ve done this. Your hands are so big and rough.”

“Oh! I’m sorry. Do you not like them-“

“You must have worked really hard with them. I’m so proud of you, Kasumi.” Kasumi felt a few tears fall down her face. The young woman turned her head away to try to hide her blush. “Your hands swallow mine.”

Kasumi was so happy to finally be reunited with her soul mate… a shame she wasn’t the only one.

Kasumi admired (your name)’s apartment. It was so quaint and cozy… she could see herself spending a lot of time here with (your name)!

Kasumi plopped herself on the giant couch. This thing was huge! Why did (your name) need such a big couch? Did she sleep here? Or… was (your name) secretly a wild woman?

“I’ll treat you to a homemade meal since you paid for my groceries. I hope you won’t mind that my best friend will be joining us soon.”

Oh! Of course (your name) had a roommate. How could she be so silly? (Your name) was too innocent to be interested in such activities.

Kasumi laid back on the couch, her mind slowly began to wander. Would (your name) want to have a big house with her in the city or the country? Did she want kids?

Kasumi glanced over at (your name) who had wrapped a frilly apron on. Kasumi felt a heat wash over her in an instance. Most definitely kids. She wondered if (your name) would want to carry them herself or adopt. Either option was amazing to Kasumi!

Kasumi admired how much her childhood friend had filled out… she looked so soft. She wondered if (your name) still smelled sweet?

The door creaked open to reveal a giant blonde woman… wait. Jacqueline Hanma?!

Jackie froze when she saw Kasumi sitting on her couch. The blonde nearly exploded until (your name) came toddling over with her arms wide open.

“Jackie! You’re finally home!” Jackie pulled (your name) into an immediate hug, the blonde relished in the hostile glare Kasumi gave her. That’s right, karate brat, (Your name) was her girlfriend.

Jackie bent down and pressed a kiss to the top of (your name)’s head. Her brown eyes glanced over at Kasumi, she reluctantly pulled herself away from (your name)

“It seems we have a guest…”

“Oh! Jackie, this is my childhood friend, Kasumi!” (Your name) happily introduced the two, unaware that they were already well acquainted. “Kasumi, this is my best friend, Jackie-“

“We already know each other.” Jackie cut off (your name) with a grunt. The blonde protectively placed a hand on (your name)’s hip.

“Yes we do.” Kasumi stood up and made her way over to (your name). Kasumi and Jack glared at each other. “(Your name)? How about we exchange numbers? I’ll drop by another time.”

“Oh okay!” (Your name) smiled brightly at Kasumi who gave Jackie a smirk. The two women quickly exchanging numbers. “I’m sad you can’t join us for dinner… you were so kind to help me today.”

Kasumi boldly scooped (your name)‘s hand up in hers and gave a soft kiss to her knuckles. Kasumi gave her a flirty wink. “Anything for my future wife.”

Kasumi then left the apartment, making sure to bump her shoulder into Jackie’s. Jackie felt bile rise up into her throat from this interaction.

Kasumi was pretty and masculine… and she was interested in (your name). Jackie glanced over at (your name) whose face was full of concern.

“Jackie, are you okay? You look troubled.”

Jackie bent down and placed a kiss on (your name)’s nose. (Your name) was always so cute and sweet to her… she loved her so much. It started to become unbearable.

“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” Jackie softly asked, the woman knelt down to rest her forehead against (your name)’s.

(Your name) smiled at Jackie, her (eye color) eyes filled with care. “No but I can see it in your eyes. I love you too-“

Jackie tenderly pecked (your name)’s lips which threw the other girl off.

“No… I’m in love with you.” Jackie whispered. “I’m madly and irrevocably in love with you. Do you feel the same way?”

- she's very cute and funny (❁´◡`❁) I love the chuuni idol concept! and also that she can find a nice compromise between standing on the stage and finding a place that she can belong, since she's got some pretty niche interests but thanks to finding a place with muse she doesn't have to hide these things anymore and can embrace them instead and I think that's a really nice message. and then especially in the new anime that doubles down on that concept of celebrating her uniqueness I think she's very inspiring and that is what idols set out to do, isn't it? inspire hope in their audience. and if that comes in the form of taking on the persona of a fallen angel and falling dramatically out of trees and even talking to her childhood friend who is an oversized dog, then so be it

If I may ask, what is your definition of regular impression?

Here is some random trivia about the cast members:

Ginsei, Yoshino, Kasumi, and Rindou have a sister/sisters.

Aside from Taiga, Sinju and Takami have an older brother.

Iwami brought Sin into the old Starless. (What is it with Iwami and bringing sus people into Starless? 😂 Sus energy attracting sus energy.)

Sotetsu is an information broker, so he has connections to sus people and knows a lot of information.

Sin didn't always speak cryptically. Iwami asked Sin to speak that way to add more to his character, and after Iwami disappeared, Sin ended up talking cryptically on a daily basis.

Kei and Zakuro knew each other even before they joined Starless. Oddly enough, Kei once said Zakuro is not a bad person. But we don't know if this Zakuro is the same Zakuro that Kei once knew. (Bring on the Zakuro is a clone, has a twin, or is a robot theory lol.)

When Kei went to America after one of the borderline events, Kasumi stalked American online news reports and found Kei on the headline pages of their websites.

Out of all the teams, Team K's members have the most balanced stats between AC, DA, and VO (acting, dancing, and vocals).

Rico is the only cast member who has perfectly balanced card stats.

opinions on nijigaku polycule? this is like the third time i've came to your blog to fetch the group pic from guren no genki (blessed image, it's been my browser bg for a while, i realise i could've just screenshotted it while typing this out) and i soo agree but ive never seen you talk about it specifically (ig i aven't been here for long anyway) i joked about how "nijigasaki is basically the polyamory manifesto" to a girl the other day and we found it funny but then i realised no, that's real

I will talk about 'the great Nijigasaki polycule' occasionally — usually in tags, admittedly — and I guess the best way to describe my feelings about it is that they're about three clicks more serious than "ha ha they should all just date".

Part of it is that I am naturally a multishipper and polyshipper to begin with. Part of it is the way that Nijigasaki's stated theme of "friends but rivals; rivals but also friends" expresses itself most clearly in DiverDiva's ethos of making each other better through serious but good-natured competition. Part of it is the way that the jokes about "your"/Yu's harem and "Hitori dake nante erabenai yo!" are taken almost seriously. And part is the way that, as a parayuri series, the official stories can't or won't commit to specific couples and instead have spent years scattering breadcrumbs widely across many, many pairings.

But there's stuff like — okay, even for Ayumu, the most obviously possessive one? There's a SIFAS bond chapter where she resorts to following "you" out of jealousy because "you" have been going off to meet with some unknown person When she finally bursts in, her accusation isn't about romance or about her — she's worrying that "you" are cheating on everybody with a new school idol. (The punchline, of course, is that it's the head of Ayumu's fan club and they're planning a surprise for her.) Or over in Shioriko's bond story, when Ayumu comes across "you" and Shioriko out together, the conversation basically goes that she's not sure if she wants to steal "you" from Shioriko, or Shioriko from "you"; Shioriko admits she likes both Ayumu and "you", and "you" say "I'll have to adore you both".

Or there's a single main story chapter where Lanzhu insists that everyone has an open relationship — Shioriko tries to correct her that she means the relationship has open communication — and Kasumi insists that there's an agreement in place that nobody gets ahead of anybody else. (The conversation somehow leads to those two cuddling and Mia dismissing "those lovebirds".) So, like, the implications are there!

My basic thought — in my headcanon gestalt of all the sources — is that it's not a flat and completely equal relationship, but a set of interlocking (and somewhat fluid) subgroups, founded in two directions at once: everybody loves Yu while Hitori dake nante erabenai yo, and Lanzhu obviously adores everybody. But while, say, it's obvious that everyone likes Emma, I'm not sure it's all in the same way or degree, and vice versa — you can see in the Nijigasaki dorm bits in the Daily Theatre that while Emma helps everyone get up, Karin gets an extra dose of indulgence and care. Nonetheless, the lines get a little blurry, between "rivals who are obviously about to kiss", "friends who are all snuggly", and "Kanata wants to sleep with everyone".

So that was a long way around to answer the question, and I'm not sure if I actually did! I'm open to any followups.

Best Underrated Anime Group I Round 1: #I2 vs #I7

#I2: Three girls start a fun club and get into shit

During recess, Olivia, a foreign transfer student who doesn’t know English, plays a game of “look-the-other-way” with Hanako Honda, a loudmouthed airhead. Their rowdy behavior spurs the ire of Kasumi Nomura, a deadpan loner constantly teased by her older sister for her tendency to lose games.

Not willing to compete, Kasumi declines Olivia’s offer to join the fun, but eventually gets involved anyway and dispenses her own brand of mischief. Soon, a strange friendship blossoms between the peculiar trio, and they decide to form the “Pastime Club,” where they are free to resume their daily hijinks.

#I7: Older brother plays catch-up with his younger sibling

On a fateful summer night in 2006, Mutta Nanba and his younger brother Hibito witness what they believe to be a UFO flying toward the Moon. This impressing and unusual phenomenon leads both siblings vowing to become astronauts, with Hibito aiming for the Moon and Mutta, convinced that the eldest brother has to be one step ahead, for Mars.

Now an adult, life hasn't turned out how Mutta had pictured it: he is diligently working in an automotive company, whereas Hibito is on his way to be the very first Japanese man to step on the Moon. However, after losing his job, Mutta is presented with an unexpected opportunity to catch up to his younger brother when the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, commonly known as JAXA, accepts his application to participate in the next astronaut selection. Despite self-doubts about his prospects, Mutta is unwilling to waste this chance of a lifetime, and thus embarks on an ambitious journey to fulfill the promise made 19 years ago.

It’s really funny and hilarious and kind of hard to pin down the demographic and who they were trying to get to watch the show because the girls uniforms are ugly, they make ugly faces and funny noises, and one of the main characters has a strong fear/disgust of men. I live and then I had a really fun time watching it because it’s so out of pocket with the stuff they do.

Trigger Warnings: Gender Identity/Sexuality Discrimination.

One character is implied to be a trans girl and is called out for it by the main characters in a way that suggests they are uncomfortable with it. Her boyfriend is okay with it, though.

Have you ever wanted to see adults pursue their dreams in anime, even those they abandoned along the way? Do you enjoy space or the arduous process to become an astronaut? Do you like characters being so well-rounded while still being positive even if they fail? Well, this series is exactly that, but with a touch more wholesomeness. Ranging from comedic moments to heartfelt revelations, this series feels so grounded in reality while still having that air of positivity around it, it just motivates you to follow any dream you might currently have. It is a long journey, almost 100 episodes, but it uses it well to flesh out not only the main pair, but many of the side characters, each coming from different backgrounds. A very character driven story that sometimes doesn’t shy in mentioning the risks of space exploration, but also presents us with the marvel and importance of it.

My 5 Favorite Legal J-Dramas

I love them because they have perfect balance of seriousness and humour, not too dark and not too comedic. And the chemistry of the main leads are fun to watch with their constant bickering. 😂

1. Hero (2001)

Kuryu (Kimura Takuya) is an unconventional prosecutor who has a habit of investigating the criminals himself before prosecuting, which agitates his paralegal, Amamiya (Matsu Takako) has it delays the process while more cases are piling up, and often conflicts with the police who thinks he does not trust their investigation skills.

The series is so good that it has a second season with a newcomer played by Keiko Kitagawa, a special episode with Haruka Ayase and a movie with both Keiko Kitagawa and Matsu Takako. I like their chemistry, not just between the main leads but the supporting characters as well that got pulled into Kimura Takuya's shenanigans.

2. Miss Justice (2018)

A similar tale of a public prosecutor, Ririko (Yoshitaka Yuriko) whose strong sense of justice get in her daily work as she takes time to solve each cases diligently, playing the role of a "detective" to ascertain that the suspects are really guilty before she prosecutes them. However, it only delays her other cases which snowballs.

This agitates her older and experienced paralegal (Yasuda Ken) who is tasked to ensure she completes each task on time without delay. But over time, both him and the entire department who got pulled into her shenanigans finally understands her reasoning and begin to respect her as a fellow prosecutor and not as a newbie.

3. Police and Prosecutor (2023)

Gota (Kiritani Kenta) and Minami (Higa Manami) are siblings who work as a law enforcer and a paralegal respectively. She works for an ambitious public prosecutor, Shuhei (Higashide Masahiro) whose values and principles are opposite of Gota, which often puts them at odds with one another when they work together on every case.

While Minami and Shuhei know the grey world in their line of work, Gota is a brash detective who only sees thing in black and white which often puts them at odds with one another. But their opposing personalities and styles of work eventually help to solve the cases in arresting and prosecuting the right criminal.

4. Ishiko and Haneo (2022)

Ishiko (Kasumi Arimura) is an obstinate law graduate who aspired to be a lawyer but after failing the bar four times, she gives up her dreams and works as a paralegal at her father's private law firm where she met the prodigy Haneo (Nakamura Tomoya) who passed the bar on first attempt due to his photographic memory.

Ishiko is a bit insecure in having to work with a prodigy while Haneo is actually terrible at adapting that he often mask it with his "superior intellectual". Their different personalities and styles of working contradict each other as the two of them, with their own inferiority complexes, are thrown together to solve cases.

5. Binta : Love and Law (2022)

Minowa (Matsumoto Toshio) is a former delinquent who doesn't have a regular job and never really thought seriously about life until he had to look after his young step-sister left behind by his late father. He lands a job as clerk, working for a strong headed lawyer, Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka) who is dumbfounded by his "stupidity".

But his strong sense of justice is a welcoming change that she needed having work in a corporate law firm surrounded by "vultures" that the two decided to start their own private firm to genuinely help people that really need help and not simply for the big money. But with each case, they realize things are not as simple as they think.

You met Humdah on your way to go see Bambi. The two of you worked things out and were close friends again (even though you still couldn’t figure out why you’d wake up with such sore nips after spending the night with her).

The young black woman was exploring Japan when she met you. She was lost and you looked foreign as well so she asked you for directions. The two of you ending up getting lost in conversation. You complimented her box braids and she complimented your hair. It then turned into a compliment war.

Humdah follows you on your way to see Bambi. She was funny and easy to talk to (and she was very interested in you). The moment her and Bambi lock eyes, she knows it’s game on. Humdah is very competitive and now she wants to date you.

Humdah starts disrupting your daily life and asking you out a lot. She’s loud in her affection. Big bouquets and cards. She’s pulling out the stops (it almost rivals Kaori and Olivia’s displays). It pisses Bambi off.

Humdah collects things from you just like Kasumi does. Except she’s much more delusional than Kasumi. Humdah believes herself to be the superior of your choices… poor thing didn’t know just how much competition there was.

Humdah worms herself into your life and into your home. It’s there that she finds out she has more than one competitor for your hand. Who on earth was that blonde monster next to you? She was hideous… but Humdah politely asks who we’ll the girls are while you go to the bathroom. She sneakily packs a pair of your dirty panties and some dirty socks while you’re out of sight.

You share with her about your friends and their names from the bathroom as you get ready for the night. You’re interrupted by a knock at the door and she’s shocked to see the blonde enter your house alongside Baki and Kasumi. The three girls making themselves comfortable in your home. Each one glaring at Humdah.

Jackie sits you on her lap as she glares at the other girls. How dare they invite themselves to your house just like she does.

The four women fight over your attention and interrupt each other but a knock at the door interrupts them before they fight. Kaori had also invited herself. The scarred woman pressing a kiss to your lips in front of the others. She’s super smug at how much you’re blushing.

Kaori then shoved Jackie off the bed so she could lay with you. Kasumi speaking up before the they got into a fight. Why not play a game of truth or dare?

Poor you was dared to kiss your favorite out of all of them… but who do you pick? Your childhood friend? Her troublemaker little sister? Your sugar mommy? Your new friend? Or the cute karate girl?

You ask to skip the dare so Humdah changes it and tells you to strip. Poor you. Now you’re sitting in your underwear as your friends laugh at you. You’re cold… and extremely uncomfortable under Humdah’s gaze.

Jackie takes off her shirt and puts it on you, which disrupts the game. Jackie doesn’t like how perverted the Humdah is so she scoops you up and tucks you into bed, she then turns to the other girls and asks Humdah to brawl with her outside.

Humdah gets her ass dragged by the other girls. They’re so upset that she made you so uncomfortable. They don’t hold back.

[A/N: Blame my dream for this idea as well. But MC sharing her insecurities with him? YES YES YES! Also who doesn't like a proposal to go reverse way? All the characters belong to Voltage Inc. and this is a fictional work.]

Night: EICU HQ

It was just a normal, and hectic day for both of you. Surgeries, post operative care, out patients, meetings, and paperworks. Even though the rigorous hours in hospital were fulfilling for you, in the recent 2 years, you had been looking forward to something else every single day. That handsome face, that alluring voice, that unwavering gaze, that softness of his hand and his warmth. When you joined the hospital, you had already made up your mind not to make any more new relationships. You knew how difficult it was maintain each one, trust someone that much and the subsequent pain of them receding away farther and farther from your reach. The feeling of being unwanted, unwelcome had scarred your heart so deep that it was beyond healing. Even though everyone praised you for being a brilliant student, you couldn't help but feel pathetic often, crying over a patient's death when you were alone even though it was supposed to be your job, wanting to spend time with friends, when in reality you couldn't make one. Maybe they found you boring for being a nerd? But, you still would try to focus on the positive side of your life, your supportive parents, Asuka, who had been your emotional support. You thought earlier, you shouldn't wish for more. You should be content with this much. Little did you know, you subconsciously wanted to hold to a hand that wanted to help you, and be loved. There he was. Waiting for you, accepting all your sides with open arms, with that gentle gaze. He said it was you who saved him, but in reality, it was him who saved you from drowning in self doubt, remorse and guilt. Sometimes it even made you think whether you are dreaming, and the harsh reality will return back soon.

"MC?"

The familiar voice breaks your train of thoughts and you can't help but smile. After all, it is your day off tomorrow together.

"Dr. Kasumi."

Seeing you in a good mood, he ruffles your hair.

"Did anything good happen today? Share with me when we reach home."

"It's nothing. I am just happy to see you after a loooong day!"

With that gentle smile not leaving his lips, he casually slips your bag on his shoulders, and takes your hand in the other. Even though it has become a daily routine, you still feel all your tiredness wash away with his simple gesture.

"Good night everyone."

"Oh how I could kill to be in your place..."

Dr. Kyogoku mumbles while typing a patient record.

"I owe you one, oh dear Chairman bodyguard!"

"MC, the new stock you promised."

Dr Ekuni's voice comes lazily from the office couch.

"Got it. 5 flavors of jelly, and the curry ramen. But it goes to our joint snack account!"

"Yes ma'am, very grateful."

You can't tell if he is drowsy or just enjoying the moment of peace with that relieved expression of his.

"Enjoy your day off together. And please get some sleep, you two zombies."

Dr. Hosho chuckles as he places a cup of coffee on his desk.

"Who are you calling a zombie? Isn't a prince surviving on coffee more zombie like?"

"Just admit you suck at joking Dr. Kasumi. Your words and that chilling gaze are 180° to each other."

Dr. Takado replies looking at his cooking ramen.

Even though Kasumi tries to joke, all HQ members have long known it will fail mostly. But knowing him, he won't mind either way, even though he pouts slightly. Then we proceed home.

Night: Kasumi's Apartment

"Should we watch this?"

"Your choice, I am fine with your picks."

Kasumi replies as he places two cups of hot chocolate on the table.

For a change of pace, you have decided to watch a movie together. Yes, visiting places on dates is really fun, but just enjoying each other's company at home is sometimes more of what you crave.

As you tap the start button, you drape a blanket over both of you.

"Should I raise the temperature of air-con a little more?"

Thinking you are cold, he pulls you closer to him.

"What if I say I just wanted to be cozy?"

"Should we postpone the movie for tomorrow and do something else tonight then?"

"You- we should continue the movie purr-ty please..."

"Pfft, got it."

Silently burying your face on his chest to hide your red cheeks, you get amazed by the common fact that all this time you have spent together, you still can't understand how he is so smooth with his words. But at least he seems happy, so it's worth it.

The movie is about the nemesis of a famous detective, but from his point of view. Why he committed crimes, what was his view of an ideal world and upto what extent he could sacrifice to reach his goal. You have been a fan of the manga series, so were over the moon when the movie was announced. And now you got the chance to watch it! As for Kasumi, he showed interest in the manga when you shared it with him, and now he enjoyed it as well.

As the movie is about halfway, your eyes start to get heavy. The protagonist is standing in a field full of white lillies, and while gazing at the blue sky, mumbles to himself that if the detective and him can be born again, it would be lucky if they can be true friends that time and not enemies.

Maybe it's the work fatigue, or the serene scenery of the movie, or perhaps the comfort of being with Kasumi, that you decide to spill the thoughts you had in the hospital earlier.

"Kasumi?"

"Mm? Are you sleepy?"

"A little. But I want to share with you why I was actually smiling earlier in the HQ. Be patient until I finish my words okay?"

"Alright."

Leaning on his shoulder, you close your eyes to put the right words on your thoughts and to convey it to him clearly.

"You know, back when I was in med school, I felt pathetic and disgusted by myself often. Even though everyone encouraged me saying I will become a good doctor in the future, in that process, they subsequently killed my heart by indirectly implying that I shouldn't expect happiness in the process. I also wanted to visit places with friends, grab dinner with them and just have a good time sometimes. But that had become impossible for someone like me. Of course, Asuka became my sole Anam Cara* later, but those lingering feelings would never go."

"..."

You knew he would listen to you and wouldn't interrupt, so fighting your drowsiness, you continue.

"I do believe in miracles. But I never thought I would be blessed with such a great miracle, that is, meeting you. My first impression of you was that of a disciplined and top surgeon, someone I should admire and aspire to be. I used to see your care for your patients. That's when I thought, what a gentle heart he has. I hope may he stay happy. When you saved me from that speeding truck, what I was more shocked at rather than the accident was the fact that why did you save me? Your care and love that is like a vast expanse of the sky, soothing to watch at, but at the same time was so far from me, could I perhaps reach it? I was conflicted by own feelings. I was scared that I would hurt you, or maybe would hurt myself if I came to know you already had a significant other. That's why I still feel like dreaming that such a kind person accepted someone like me."

"MC..."

You could feel his bangs softly caressing you, that result in making you feel even more sleepy.

"So if I say I want to be with you, is that okay? If I say let's get married, and grow old together.... is... that... o-okay..."

As you are almost about to express your innermost feelings, sleep takes over you.

"Not even waiting for me to reply? My cute MC, you again suceeded in stealing my heart for the umpteenth time. As for the answer--"

He turns off the TV, lifts you up to take you to the bedroom and carefully whispers midway so as to not wake you up...

"The answer's always been yes."
