Favorite Zutara fics?

It varies. There are also a ton of great fics and it's hard to winnow down. What I'd like to do instead is to give my top 5 underrated fic recs. These fics have under 10 k hits, and I think they deserve a TON more love.

One of the best "Aang makes good choices" fics I've ever read.

(Don’t) Follow Me Down by eleventy7

A retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth with Katara as the queen of the underworld and Zuko as the god of the spring. Beautiful prose.

Heartsong by we-were-angels (untilwefallinlove)

Katara as a sea siren and Zuko as the pirate who loves her. The ending leaves me wanting a sequel. Maybe the author will give me us one if we're REALLY good?

A Drop in the Desert by damagectrl

A Zutara fic with lots of The Mummy vibes. Also, this author in general is fantastic and if you don't know them, you should read all of their works! Dancing in the Dark was the first work of theirs I ever read and it is to this day one of the best Zutara falls in love in Ba Sing Se stories i've ever read.

Do you have any hidden gem fics or lesser known authors you would recommend for Lukanette?

I'm not going to lie, it's way easier to call to mind friends' fics so the same names tend to pop up when I'm trying to think of recommendations, so this is a great question. I don't really want to claim these are 'hidden gems' or 'lesser known authors' just because they're not in the circle of authors I hear from and talk to frequently, so let's put it this way: here's some works I love that haven't come up in the recs I've been asked for recently.

Since we debuted together 7 months ago, my girls have been thrown into the fire and have not slowed down. One of them wasn't even working for the company when she got the call, and the other came straight from an injury. I can't say everyone would've done that, but they did. Not knowing what the future held, @teamkickcap and @iyosky took a leap of faith - joining me in a very crucial time for all of our careers. They trusted my vision. They saw what I saw. They felt it. They know that even after nearly 15 years in this business, there is still so much they have left to do. And that's why WE will be successful. I've done a lot, but | haven't done it all and that eats at me every single day. And I know I can get it done with Dakota and lyo by my side. I know that these tag titles mean as much to them as they do to me. I know that it's more than just a championship for them, it's a second chance at a dream.

6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?

There are so many good writers and fics in the MLB fandom. I feel like I would just miss about 80% of them if I named one, but I have definitely read Delayed (Lukanette), A Night of Debauchery and Sin (Lukadrienette) and Kairos (Adrienette) by damagectrl (Explicit) more than twice. Three times. Maybe more.

The first and last of those had such beautiful angst from lost opportunities and past loves and the colourful descriptions of all the locations they are set in make it like a travelogue.

20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?

Not a fic title, but I was pretty happy with the series name Bridgette-ton for my Bridgerton AU. It meant I had to include Bridgette though, but it was worth it for the pun.
