Dp x Dc AU: Dani has a too many break-ups for Danny’s heart to handle as an older brother- So he gives her a criteria that her next boyfriend needs to fit for Danny to approve of their relationship. 

Dani was really excited about her new boyfriend. He was witty, and charming, knew how to sword fight and was absolutely stunning. He loved his family, was passionate about animals and social justice causes, and he was an artist! She had a thing for green eyes, and hey, he was actually super chill about them having flexible schedules to see each other (she had vigilante shit to do that she couldn’t explain)! It’s been going on for a few months and she’s honestly ready for him to meet Danny & Jazz but... 

The last time she was home it was for a broken heart and Danny was beside himself with worry over her. He made the guys recently deceased ancestors come forward to speak on his behalf and it was Mortifying- Danny was ready to throw down. And Dani had to admit, it was super sweet that her big brother cared so much. He’d happily given a shovel talk to each of her partners when she brought them home and he’d happily tried to bond with them and integrate into their lives. Danny always allowed her to make mistakes but respected her choices to only ever ask two questions when a new partner came into the picture: Do they make you happy? Do they treat you well? 

This last time he made a simple request, just could they please fit this one criteria? 

The thought comes to her unfortunately when she’s making out with her perfect match, her soul mate, this beautifully stabby man Damian Wayne, that she should bring up the deal breaker. Her brother gave her literally one request for her next partner, and by the ancients she didn’t want to disappoint Danny. 

Pulling away from her boyfriends kiss for just a moment, Dani quickly asks “Sorry, Sorry, it’s just...Have you ever died before?” 

Damian’s look of confusion and then concern grew on his normally collected face, which told her more than enough. 

“Okay great!” And she leaned back in, only to realize that he’s pulled back. 

“Would... Would you care to explain why you just asked me that?” Damian was doing his best to not jump to conclusions.

“Sorry, I just got in my head a bit about how you’re like, the light of my life and I want you to meet my family and then my brain wandered, before you did that thing with your teeth, to the fact that my brother kind of requested... um, well, he just asked that my next partner be, uh, don’t freak out if this sounds weird, but uh, be dead.” 

“He...He wants your partner to be dead.” 

“Well, Dead adjacent is perfectly normal in my family! It’s not like a whole thing! You’ve died before, so he’ll absolutely love you! And he’ll love you even more because you love me!” She smiles as brilliantly as the stars.

Damian isn’t sure for a second, but eventually asks: “Your family is ‘dead adjacent’ and you want me to meet them?” to which she happily confirms. 

“Do you... Wish to know how I-” Damian begins but she cuts him off “No! Never, I would never ask that of you. He won’t ask either! He actually has a better vision for these things so it probably won’t even come up! How does next Tuesday work?” 

“That should be fine, however, well...On the subject of family expectations ... Is it even possible that you might be a vigilante?” Damian’s worries melt away when his girlfriend smiles and lunges forward to kiss him. 

Families could have such weird expectations, you know?

The reason I find Jason to be boring is because people are so scared to hold him accountable. You can’t claim to like anti-hero’s or claim that Jason is an anti-hero if you’re going to excuse everything that makes him an ANTI-hero.

There is no doubt in my mind that I would like him a whole lot more if people accepted him as a character that does bad things. I understand he has trauma and his own reasons but trauma is only an explanation, not an excuse. While I like consuming content of the batfamily being a family, when it’s not based in pretty much an entirely different universe it doesn’t make any sense.

Pretty much all of the batfamily (except Bruce because he’s can actually be pretty awful to Jason) has reasons to hate or be mad at Jason.

Jason went out in a Nightwing outfit and killed people to try and ruin Dick’s image, and all the shit he’s done to Dicks other siblings. You really think Dick would just be cool with the fact that Jason beat one of his little brothers and shot another one?

Cass has a moral code probably stricter than Batman, she would HATE Jason for killing. And again same thing with the siblings.

Tim I just don’t understand why he would ever forgive Jason. Jason beat the absolute shit out of him, plus you gotta admit that guy is too much of a cocky bitch to ever just forgive and forget

Unfortunately I can’t say much about Steph as I can’t think of a single time where they actually interacted in canon. But I don’t think she would be too fond of the guy who beat up her best friend and shot Damian.

Duke I think has had one personal interaction with Jason and while it wasn’t too friendly I don’t think he would hold that big of a grudge.

Damian I think would be more understanding but it’s hard to forget how he was shot by Jason and had to have his SPINE replaced because of Jason.

I’m not trying to hate on Jason, he honestly makes me sad because he is filled with wasted potential. It’s not even that they never make him do bad things, it’s that there’s never any lasting consequences.

Many times when I see people who hate on Jason they bring in the death penalty argument, which as much as I hate and believe is stupid, still has some tiny bit of validity. The reason it sucks is because the world of DC comics is not even remotely similar to our real life. Criminals in real life don’t have plant powers or convoluted plans to distribute their weird ass poisonous gas. If they did, they wouldn’t even spend a night in jail because they would be shot on the spot. If Jason did just kill these types of criminals, then he would not be considered an anti-hero, just a hero. But that’s the thing, Jason doesn’t just kill the Joker, or the Riddler or any of the Rogues, he kills the type of criminals we would see in our real lives. THAT is where the validity lies in that argument, it’s not just that Jason is killing supervillains but that he is killing the type of people that we are fighting against the death penalty for. Obviously this argument means nothing to you if you are pro-death penalty but I just wanted to explain.

Jason would be so interesting if he was treated like the character he is supposed to be. A young traumatized person who does bad things for the right reasons but still has to face the consequences.

And if people really want to give him a character arc where he eventually stops killing, it shouldn’t just be he gets tried of killing or tired of arguing with Bruce, but that he sees how his way of crime-fighting can do more harm than good.

It’s just so frustrating to see how people just act accept anti-heros for what they are. It like people are so scared of making or admitting a character to be immoral, that they just erase the consequences of their bad actions to make it excusable.

Anyways, thank you for coming to my rant, Jason Todd fans this wasn’t me hating on your babygirl, I’m trying to help you.

Because regardless of what the rest of the batfamily would think, I believe Damian would absolutely adore his little sister. He’d be the type of brother to attend all her pretend tea parties with her plushies. He would gift her a pet kitten for one of her birthdays, probably. And Damian would despise anyone who would go out of their way to make Helena cry.

Damian would probably hate being demoted to middle child status but I think he would love his baby sister.

Prodigy sons raised from birth in a high society with even higher expectations, later on taking a role that doesn't belong to them (doesn't even want them at first), and having come unannounced to only force their way in. Work for the acceptance they so crave their whole life when love is supposed to be given unconditionally, with parents who won't see them for as they are, letting the child grow by himself too early (too young), and left in a too big mansion filled with ghosts (During Timmy's youth and Alfie's death). Dreaming of a dark knight who they would only be able to meet for a price. (Jason's death, the loss of a Robin, and Damian birthday. The challenge to defeat his own mother.) Knowing death even before they took upon Robin. Knowing it comes with the job. (Tim as for what happened to his predecessor and Damian as he's a child assassin.) Becoming soldiers in a war they never should have even been a part of. Tools for someone else's gain. Listened to only when they behave. Bruce being reminded of Jason when Tim was working so hard to be his own Robin. Dick being reminded of a younger Bruce when Damian doesn't even truly know his own father. Both expected to raise an empire. Underestimated and at the same time, the world expecting so much for them to carry on their tiny shoulders. Hunted for their title, adored for their use, and feared for their instability. (Tim: mentally and Damian: morally.) Their minds too old to ever call them children and their fondest memories of fun with a best friend Super are tarnished by the fact that even those friends never stayed. (Kon's death & Jon's sudden aging. They came back, sure, but the change was there.) Their artistic nature (photography & painting) along with their preference for non-human company should mean that they would have more in common! (Tim with his coffee and computers. Damian with his pets.) But noooo! Apparently, they're also very similar in being socially inept and emotionally stunted. Broody baby birds, often misunderstood and misunderstanding others as well. SHOOT! Even Ra's frickin' Al GHUL sees both of their value! I can't with this anymore! I just- AW COME ON!

It's obvious Jason & Damian should bond for their similar traumatic history or Jason & Tim for being "replaced", but there's not enough good brother content for the two that argues a lot, but clings to "Robin" as something good in their life. One they haven't completely grown out of. Seriously, when you realize Damian has the least things in common with Dick who he's closest with among all his brothers show how there's so much more room for bonding moments between the younger three. (Dick's a great brother and he tries. Time for his little brothers to reach out themselves.)

DC writers and your reality bending powers, you're really telling me that there's not ONE universe out there where these two could get along? That fighting is just gonna be FOREVER their thing, they won't grow pass that, and it's just downright impossible? Good Brother fanfics out there prove otherwise. In Supersons we see a couple of kids that are implied to be Damian and Jon's children and the boy has laser eyes and can fly, so I asume he's not adopted. The girl, who calls Bruce grandpa, can also fly, btw. So it's canon (probably by accident) that Jon can have kids and he must have married one of Bruce's kids. okay so maybe this is more a personal thought than any real direction dc could have taken but

i think it’s such a wonderful thing that dc let Dick and Damian have such a good relationship during their spell as Batman and Robin, as well as continuing forwards when Dick returned from Spyral. granted, it was a really rough start and Dick didn’t like Damian and thought he was a brat and Damian thought Dick was incompetent and a horrible Batman. there were problems, 100%, but i think that makes their relationship more impactful, you know?

Dick and Damian have about the same age gap Bruce and Dick had when they first started as Batman and Robin (i think Damian was maybe a year older than Dick, but it doesn’t really matter). point being, that is a massive age gap. between a parent and child, that’s not a big deal and it is most definitely expected. But. But. 

Dick and Damian were not parent and child and in no way, shape, or form did they want that sort of relationship at the beginning. by the nature of their relationship with Bruce, it made them siblings with one another. Brothers. And with Damian coming into Gotham expecting to be Robin to his father’s Batman, but then having to be Dick’s Robin to his Batman, it threw off that natural authoritative inference between parent and child. Damian came into the role expecting to be at the command of his father. not this distant, not-really-older-brother figure he had only ever studied and then written off as an “un-threat”. 

from what i have seen, and by my own experiences, massive age gaps between siblings don’t often go well. either the older sibling already has their own life and thus has little to no interaction with the younger sibling, or the older sibling is still living under the parental household but cannot stand the younger sibling because of a) privileges not granted to them when the older sibling was younger, b) the younger sibling’s attitude, and/or c) there is literally nothing to relate one to the other, so distance is natural. my point is is that, based on the circumstances Dick and Damian were thrusted into, their relationship should not have worked. their age gap, how they were raised, and the natural insistence that they are brothers and not parent-child (meaning, “Well, I am older anyway, so you have to listen to me” and “You’re not my dad, I don’t have to listen to you”)   it all made for the perfect formula for them to hate each other and resent the other. there was nothing in the equation for them to have a good, working relationship

and again. at the start, it did not. Dick was annoyed at Damian for not following his orders and Damian did not like being ordered around by someone he felt to be inferior to his father. 

DC doesn’t exactly have the best track record for being consistent with its characters’ relationships and characterizations. Damian and Dick have been written by so many different writers that you could find two different comics and think they were different people. and it would have been so easy for DC to let Dick and Damian fight constantly and let Damian go back to his mother and come back as a villain for Dick and everyone else to fight. it would have been so easy to write off Damian and let Dick give up on the kid because, hey, who wants to put that much effort into rearing a “rabid” child that’s not even their own? 

well, Dick and Damian’s relationship and characterizations are the one thing DC managed to keep somewhat consistent. Dick is a stubborn, heartfelt individual. family means so much to him, so even if this child he’s never heard of and fights him at every decision is Bruce’s child, then of course he’s going to stick with this kid and help him out. that’s what older brothers do. and Damian, who’s never been in an environment where someone was willing to be patient and kind and forgiving, reacts to that and, slowly, begins to respect Dick. a bond forms because there is understanding in both of these characters. it wasn’t just a case of “i have to take care of him because Bruce would want me to”, it was also “this is a kid who has been hurt and scarred and he needs my help”

to have that sort of willingness written into these characters as brothers and not just an obligation they are bound to by the connection of Bruce/Batman, is impactful and so meaningful and literally makes me emotional when ever i think of how much they both worked to be better to themselves and each other

Adding more Jason headcannons, cuz yall like them.

Jason’s natural hair color is a dark brown, Bruce had him dye it black hoping villains would not realize there was a new Robin and Jason dyed his hair red because he, like myself, just really wanted to dye his hair his favorite color

Jason’s white streak is from a scar, like I said earlier, and Jason cannot dye it. But he can hide it in his hair since it’s a pretty small spot.

Jason was actually a super sweet kid, and still is. He has this “I came back a different man” act and while in some cases it’s true he’s still Jason

Jason’s eyes were a teal color that leaned more green when he was a kid and after coming out of the pit they became an eery green color

The pit did not make Jason super buff, after coming out the pit Jason did have strength he did not have before but after the pit he trained at places like the League and All Castle and that’s where he got super buff

When Jason fights hand to hand he throws his weight around, he’s a big dude and he knows it

Jason is not a super pretty person, if you are mad that DC drew him “ugly” you seem to forget he got BLOWN UP he’s not MAGICALLY going to be beautiful with pit water. He is handsome, and if you’re opinion on him being a great character changes on how he is drawn you are WRONG. In fact if you were able to express that and he saw that people thought that, he’s feel like more of a monster than he already does

Continuing on my previous point, Jason is a super self conscious character, he feels like a monster, he feels ugly, he thinks there is nothing for him and that no one could love him because of how he looks and his past. And 👏he👏 is 👏WRONG👏!

Jason is a character who, I feel, needs a family and an SO he can come home to more than the others. Jason spent so much time after coming back alone and training that he is tired of being alone, which is why he constantly has Outlaws now

Talia has offered to let him put Bizzaro and Roy in the pit but Jason, because he knows the effects, says no. And it hurts more than anything

Jason and Talia have a godo relationship, that is more mother/son than anything. Yes, they fucked, and I will not ignore that but I’d like to believe that was a one off. Jason doesn’t view Selina like that because Selina isn’t really mom material, she really tries, but I get the feeling she just isnt.

Jason has a good relationship with all the Robins, past and present, and has a better relationship with the batgirls (past and present). I’d like to believe that they invite him to their girls nights and stuff because it helps him feel better about himself and they know this. I think that, of all the Robins, Jason and Damian have the best relationship because they share a lot of traits and ideals, Jason and Dick is only second to that because of their time apart, they spent so much time together when Jason was a kid, Jason truly views Dick as his older brother

Tim and Jason have a very sibling like relationship but they can be awkward around each other because Tim hasn’t totally got an idea of Jason’s sense of humor yet, but they’re getting there

I believe that Jason knows Damian the best, we saw bits of this in a Titan’s comic book when Damian was going through something and led the Titan’s on a scavenger hunt for him. Jason shows up and helps them find him and thats because he knows Damian and knows what he’s going to do. Damian and Jason will jokingly roast each other and rough house but at the end of the day they are truly like brothers and I feel like Damian messages Jason a lot, and we know Damian and Dick are tight but I feel like thats more of a Father/Son bond while Jason is more like Damian’s older brother

Dick Grayson - flippy boi - circus child - his parents fell from the trapeze it was very sad - first Robin, chose bright colors and no pants - known for his attrocious puns - grew up to become Nightwing, went through several Bad Fashion Choices^TM - tired, just trying to keep the family together and help people - angrier than people give him credit for - 10/10 best big brother I love him so much

Barbara Gordon - the first official batgirl rn (I think) - commissioner's daughter we love her anyways - badass who dated Dick for a while and was generally just amazing - got shot in the spine by the Joker and paralyzed - became Oracle the best hacker on the planet - hacks all the stuff, is in everyone's ear all the time - is still a total badass and will kick your ass to metropolis if you cross her - and then play innocent and blame it on Batman - I love her so much

Jason Todd - tried to steal Bruce's tires, Bruce pulled an uno reverse and stole him - angery boy but also very soft - died =( - and then he came back to life - either because Superboy Prime punched the universe (don't ask) or because Ra's felt bad - was Lazarus Pitted back to life, zombie bat with white streak now - (except DC won't give him the streak 'cause they're rude) - started calling himself Red Hood - spent some time as angsty murder boi trying to fight Bruce - angry that the Joker's still alive - still an angsty murder boi but he's in the family again and sometimes has friends! but dc also likes taking them away - DC is very rude

Tim Drake - stalker extraordinaire/j - figured out Batman's identity when he was 10 - followed Batman and Robin around for years taking pictures - after Jason died Bruce got hella self-destructive so Tim stepped in and was like "I am going to become Robin because you need to stop" - we stan - hacker child. also has zero self-preservation - became Red Robin when Damian became Robin - if you listen to fanon, sleep deprived coffee boi - is honestly downright freaking terrifying when crossed don't do that - seriously this kid frightens me he's a genius who does shit like figure out who Batman is, follow him for years without detection, beats all the criminal masterminds, at one point he managed to create an entire fake uncle to lie to bruce?? long story. - basically he's terrifying and also he needs hugs I love him

Stephanie Brown - became a superhero out of spite - her dad's a villain so she dresses up as Spoiler to Spoil his plans - ends up joining the bats - becomes Robin at one point when Tim temporarily quits - then she dies. except she doesn't. yes I'm confused too - returns (leslie thompkins??) and goes back to Spoiler for a bit - Babs makes her Batgirl - waffle queen. an icon. I love Steph so damn much - she's just so good okay - she is a ball of sass and poor impulse control - but also really smart and amazing

Cassandra Cain - assassin child I love her - easily one of the most terrifying bats - really, really good at reading body language she knows what you're about to do before you do and will stop you - was raised to read body language instead of speak basically it's complicated - killed a man as a child under orders from her father, didn't realize what would happen and panicked and ran away after she did it - Bruce and Babs both kinda adopted her and mentored her and made her Batgirl - she became Black Bat and Orphan at some point but idk what's up with that love her though - has trouble with words - loves to dance - I would die for Cass Cain I adore her

Damian Wayne - another assassin child - this one's Bruce and Talia's bio kid - raised in the league of assassins until Talia brought him to Bruce - had to learn not to kill people and that killing is not how we rise in the ranks here - no you can't stab Tim and become Robin that's not how this works - bit of a brat at first, grows so much as a character - animal lover - Bruce dies and Dick becomes Batman for a while. he makes Damian his Robin - he also loves art and video games and he learns how to be a kid again - when the writers aren't COWARDS - I love Damian so much he needs so much love - grumpy exterior, cares very much but will stab you if you suggest it

Duke Thomas - glowy boi - tried to beat the Riddler and save the city at nine. I love - his parents were Jokerized when he was a teen and he ended up in the foster care system for a while - joined a group of kids called We are Robin and was amazing - I love We are Robin so much it's so good Duke is incredible - look at him go he's leading a group of vigilante kids it's excellent - becomes Bruce's foster son at some point - becomes a vigilante named Signal. only one of the bats with common sense he has a helmet - he can also turn invisible - Duke is the only meta he can see... see light in the past? he can see light patterns a few minutes into the past and into the future - so he can see what you did a few minutes ago and what you're going to do a few minutes from now - also he has x-ray vision - and shadow powers?? now??? - calls his ability to see light stuff ghost vision - I love - honestly best bat he's so good - gets fanonized as the "sane" one. he is not. - once jumped out of a moving police car and off a bridge - Duke is by no means the sane one he's just as chaotic as the others - what a dumbass. it's great - represents light and hope and truth and I just have so many emotions about Duke Thomas

Prom Proposal

So @enchantingdefendoreagle requested, “I have a request I am hoping for a Daminette fanfic. Where since Prom is canceled that the Waynes have offered to host Gotham Academy Prom because Gotham Academy is under reconstruction or something. Damian has seen Marinette for a while having a crush on her but never saying anything. “ 

Note: I wanted to try pinning Damian and a lot of things happened... so I hope you enjoy.  

Normally, Damian would never make such a big deal over a school event cancellation. He would shrug it off as if it was beneath him. Well, that was the case until the Joker decided to turn Gotham Academy’s gym into a playground until Batman and Robin removed him from the premise. However, there was an absolute reason as to why this event had affected him so much. For a while now, Damian was actually looking forward to the annual prom dance. He was actually going to participate in said event, but the one person he was trying to ask to be date—they haven’t really spoken to one another outside of class assignments.

“Father I demand that we host prom.” Damian urges barging into his father’s office the second the school email about prom’s cancellation went to the students. What Damian didn’t account for was Grayson being inside the office as well.

“Hold, Little D. Why would you of all people even want to B to host prom? You didn’t go last year so why the sudden change.” Dick wonders at his little brother. So yeah, Damian didn’t go his junior year but once again this year is different.

With Damian being silent for a moment was all it took for Dick to realize something, “Is it for a girl…a boy maybe?”

“Tt. I have my reasons.” Damian counters crossing his arms and turning his attention away from his brother to his father, who appears to be done with everything going on.

“Damian, do you really think that having the manor full of teens is a good idea?” Bruce asks concern about his son’s mental health, but he too was wondering why the sudden change in attitude for one of many iconic moments in a teenager’s life.

“There is no reason father,” Damian says lying through his teeth. There was a reason, but he doesn’t want his family to find out about said reason.

Dick nor Bruce seemed convinced, but a simple quick look to one another, they knew getting an answer out of eighteen-year-old would be a battle they didn’t want to have.

“I’ll consider it.” Bruce states practically agreeing to his son plans to have prom at the Manor just like any other Wayne Gala he has hosted before. The only difference would be teens instead of adults.

It only took Bruce Wayne three days to send an email to the academy, offering to host prom night at Wayne Manor. The headmistress took that offer immediately know that there will be backlash for not accepting such a proposal. Two days after that, the school sends out emails informing the students that prom will be hosted in two months having it right on schedule. Those who order prom tickets will receive further information closer to the date.

After getting his father on board with the thought, Damian was internally excited, now just to put his plan into action. That plan over two months failed at least five different times.  

The first attempt, in the classroom right after class was finished. He knows that she’ll usually stay in the class until everyone is out. Well, that didn’t happen. She was the first person out, running like her depended on it.

The second attempt was at the courtyard, a couple of days after the first attempt. Damian knew (well he asked Jon) that she had a tendency to sketch under the largest tree during the evening. He also knew that they shared the same independent study times due to having worked on projects together. Just as he was about to ask her, another student walked up to her. The bluenette, from afar, seemed to be interested in the conversation. Damian ended up walking away hoping to try again later.

The third attempt was almost a success. He was actually talking to her, but the words would not come out the way he had hoped. This just added to his stoic personality that she was used to. Then right before he finally mustered up the confidence, a girl with pigtails interrupted them implying that she only wanted to talk to Damian. Apparently, pigtail girl wanted to ask Damian to prom and he of course denied the proposal.

“You need, help?” Jon asks on the day before Damian could attempt his fourth go.

“Tt. I rather suffer.”

Jon raises an eyebrow, “Uh-huh. She’s in the art room.” Jon walks away with a smirk on his face. Damian could only glare at his retreating friend.  

Sure enough, Jon was right, she was in the art room. However, it was clear that she was in the zone. A zone that is nearly impossible to get her out of.

“DC, can we talk?” She doesn’t acknowledge him. He tries again a couple more times. Damian should have known better. They barely speak when in class, so why the hell would they speak out of class.

“How it go?” Jon asks as he smiles knowing exactly how the encounter went.

“Kent, you could have told me she was in the zone.” Damian lightly punches Jon in the shoulder. “Do you have any idea what she’s working on?”

Jon chuckles and instead of answering he goes inside the art room. Damian couldn’t help but wonder about what they are doing.

The fifth attempt was really his own attempt. In fact, it was the girl he has been trying to ask out that ended all of his sufferings.

Damian was been avoiding practically everyone in the challenge to ask this one person to prom. Every potential idea was either scrap or too out of character for him—not that he was out of character trying to ask her in the first; he’s blaming it on this unknown emotion that has been haunting him since he had gotten to know DC. What makes matter worse is that prom was only a couple of weeks away.

“You’re going to love this.” Jon states dragging the Wayne heir across the school grounds. Damian put up a fight but Jon inhuman strength kind of won the battle. So, he was trapped in his best friend’s grip being to who knows where.  

The next thing Damian knew was being stopped in his tracks and seeing black with little rays of light coming through Jon’s hand.

“Kent, I swear—”

“Yeah, yeah, just stay with me for a second.”

“A second.” Damian deadpans crossing his arms over his chest.

Damian may have not seen it but Jon was rolling his eyes and whispering some words to someone.

“Okay, in three…two…one!” Jon’s hand immediately uncovers his face. Damian was seconds away from turning to attack his friend, but something red, green, and yellow catches his eyes.

There standing in front of him, is the girl he’s been trying to ask out wearing a female version of the current Robin’s outfit holding a sign that says, “A Robin with a sword would be troubling, but a Robin without a sword wouldn’t be complete. Will you go to PROM WITH ME?” To the side of her is a try of Batfam theme cupcakes.

“Dupain-Cheng, you never cease to surprise me,” Damian states feeling a little stupid that he was worrying for nothing. “Yes, I’ll be your date to prom.”

“I know and do you have any idea how hard it was to pretend that I wasn’t interested.” Marinette awkwardly chuckles

“What?”  Now he was confused. Hold on…pretending? Damian couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “You knew?” He accused Jon who simply shrugs and takes a cupcake like it was nothing.

“Seeing you two pinning over one another was the highlights of my day. Mari was always in a panic when she tried to talk to you but there was always someone in the way, and you panicking like it was the end of the world. So yeah, I needed my own fun with all of this.” Jon answers before taking a bite out of the cupcake.

Marinette and Damian eye one another before smirking.

Legend has it that Jon’s screams of terror echoes throughout the school.

Fast forward to prom night, the Wayne family finally understood why Damian wanted to have prom at the Wayne Manor. The moment they saw the girl he was escorting—Damian had taken the car earlier that evening without a word to his family—they were all shook. Dick was squealing saying that the little bird finally found someone. Tim wasn’t sure what was going on aside from the flashing lights. Jason knew that girl and went into overprotective brother mode (that was not for Damian). Bruce wanted to cry but he had to keep up an image. Alfred had taken photos of the couple—those did not see the light of day until the wedding.      

All in all, the family was pleased to see Damian being happy with the girl as they dance the night away.

Dick Grayson Comic Recs

I’ve been getting an increase in requests for comic recs, so I finally caved and decided to list a bunch of comics and series I recommend about Dick Grayson and put it all in one convenient place. I also wrote out a little description/review, to try to give people an idea if the comic sounded appealing and they wanted to check it out. Some of these are just single comics, others are some series to check out, pretty much in chronological order. 

Robin: 

Robin (1993) Annual #4: One of my preferred Robin origin stories. Fairly solid characterization, and a more reasonable timeline for events than other tellings. Provides an inside look at Dick’s thoughts during this time. 

Batman: Dark Victory #9-13: All of Dark Victory is excellent, these are the issues that Dick appears in. It could be considered another Robin origin story, though it is not solely focused on Dick. Everyone is characterized very well, especially Dick. The plot is very engaging, involving Two Face and a crime family, along with tracking down Zucco. As the name implies, it is a bit grimmer than your usual retelling. 

Batman Chronicles: The Gauntlet: Dick has been training to be Robin, and he thinks he’s finally ready, but he has to pass Batman’s final test--to keep away from him for a whole night. Of course, the test goes off track, and Dick soon finds himself the target of a ruthless mob boss, his deadly gang of thugs, and the GCPD. Batman chases after Robin, trying to save him before it is too late. 

Robin: Year One: This is a four issue run that gives you a snapshot of the time where Robin is just introduced in the crime fighting scene. It features villains like the Mad Hatter and Two Face. The art style is really fun and dynamic, and we get to see Bruce and Dick start to figure each other out. Lots of Alfred as well! 

Scarecrow: Year One: Another fun look at Dick and Bruce’s relationship, a little further along the road. Dick is very small and cute, and has also basically become Bruce’s therapist lmao! Not a great Scarecrow origin story though.

Legends of the DC Universe #6: The first time Superman and Robin meet. An absolutely delightful team up, I still have cavities from reading it because it is just so sweet. This one is so good, read it. 

Teen Titans: Year One: A short little origin story for the fab five (ie Wonder Girl, Speedy, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Robin). A cute introduction to the original titans. 

The New Teen Titans (1980) and (1984): Forming the Teen Titans was a really important part of Dick’s development as a superhero, and some of his best stuff is when he is in a team setting. This run has the team you’d be more familiar with if you watched the animated Teen Titans show: it has Raven, Starfire, etc. Dick decides that he is going to leave Robin behind in issue #39. 

Nightwing: 

The New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract: This is the infamous run where Terra betrays the Titans. Dick dons the name Nightwing for the first time in this run (discowing style), and goes off with Joey Wilson to save the rest of the Titans from Slade and Brother Blood. 

Batman #416: Dick meets Jason for the first time, and eventually the two bond over beating up some baddies. 

The New Titans (1988) #55: You can read this series too for some Titans action, but even if you don’t you should skip over and read issue #55. It shows how Dick reacted to Jason’s death, and how Bruce and Dick had a huge falling out. It’s heartbreaking to read honestly. 

Nightwing (1996): If you want to read Nightwing, it’d be best to look at his solo run also. It starts with him moving to Bludhaven, and continues from there. If you’re looking for Batfam cameos, I specifically remember issues #6 and #25 for its really cute brotherly Tim and Dick moments. Issues #13 - #15 have Dick and Batman working together. #105 and #106 have Jason (as Robin) working with Dick. There are a lot of solid Barbara moments throughout with her as Oracle. #138 is when he meets Damian for the first time. There’s a lot here, so I would just pick and choose the arcs that interest you, and go from there. 

Action Comics #771: Another comic where Nightwing and Superman team up. Sue me, I love their dynamic! 

Gotham Knights #17: Dick finally gets adopted in this one. 

Batman (1940) #615: This one is smack dab in the middle of the Hush arc, an arc that focuses on Batman’s relationship with Catwoman and a mysterious new villain named Hush. I like this arc of comics (they recently made it into a movie!) so if you want to read the whole thing it starts at #608. This is just one that features Nightwing a lot. I include it because I really enjoy the dynamic Dick and Bruce have. It’s good stuff. 

Titans/Young Justice Graduation Day #1-3: It’s fun to see Tim and Dick’s generations interact and deal with growing up as superheroes, and there is a lot of drama. Pretty important crap goes down in these comics: several people die, including Donna, and as a result Dick disbands the Titans. If you want to read Outsiders, you should really read this one first. 

Outsiders Vol 3 (2003): Dick is mourning Donna’s death and self-destructing, so Roy forms a team called the Outsiders--a team that is meant to be just business rather than a family. Dick is more stern and his temper is shorter than usual, but I think it is all pretty in character for him, especially since he is grieving. Highlights include Roy and Dick’s lovely relationship.

Teen Titans (2003) #6: Ok, I almost didn’t put this one on here because it is very self-indulgent, but I couldn’t resist. This series has the Teen Titans starting back up again without Nightwing, but in this issue he makes a little cameo. If you’ve seen those panels around where Nightwing lectures the Justice League? This is where it happens. He’s just really cool here. 

Batman: 

Batman #687-688: This follows the Batfam’s initial reaction to Bruce’s death, and how Dick begins to approach being Batman himself. It is technically an epilogue to Battle for the Cowl, but that doesn’t have to be read for these comics to be understood. 

Batman and Robin (2009): This is the series where we see Dick and Damian transform into people forced together who can barely tolerate one another, to some of the closest partners in the Batfam. They develop their relationship very nicely, and we get to see how Dick approaches a lot of the emotional and physical challenges that come with being Batman. Some of the arcs are good, some of them very much miss for me. 

Batman: Black Mirror: This is a collection of Detective Comics #871-881. I’d say these are  my favorite Dick!Batman stories ever. All the cases are very good (really chilling), and the characterizations are top notch stuff. Lots of Gordon, Barbara, and some Tim also. I won’t spoil who it is, but the big villain they have for this book is one of the best I’ve seen for Dick, an almost perfect foil in my opinion.

Batman: Gates of Gotham: A good story, it’s interesting to see how Dick interacts with his siblings as Batman. I think this may be one of the first times Cass and Damian meet, though I’m not positive about that. 

Just as a heads up, I’ve left out some significant events and this isn’t an exhaustive list on everything there is to know about the character. These are just some comics I enjoy. I hope they help you get a start on who Dick Grayson is, and how he figures into the Batfam and the larger superhero community.

Here you go friends have a list of shit I would love to see happen in Batfam comics and would do in a heartbeat if DC let me write for them, but won't, because they're cowards.

An entire storyline that's essentially Riddler and Cluemaster just constantly trying to outdo each other in terms of riddles and questions and it's just to see who's the best at it and the Batfam is having to exercise a lot of their detective skills and self restraint to just. Bruce visiting Harvey in Arkham often and being there for his boyfriend best friend.

Harvey breaking out of Arkham solely because Bruce is trying to avoid their college reunion so he busted himself out so he could pick up Bruce with some flowers like "Nope, you're not worming you're way out of it, I literally busted myself out because you're spending too much time at home. Come on, I'll buy you dinner afterwards."

Harley gets to petsit all the batfamily pets and she organizes them to help her go fuck over this one asshole who's trying to kill her. They all go to the park afterwords with like the pupcup kinda ice cream things you get for all of them. Goliath included.

Damian getting to go to his first school dance -- which, he claims he's trying to do an investigation into something and the rest of the family is trying to get him to relax and be a kid. And all of his siblings just decide to be super extra and get all the pictures of him and his date, who's JUST A FRIEND, and be like "oh have him home by 9, alright, don't you kids have too much fun!"

Turns out his investigation was well warranted and somebody summoned a legion of the undead to invade the school dance so they could go steal something vital from Gotham Academy. Or it was some kids who got bored and found an actual working like necronomicon or some shit. Either works.

I saw Stephanie, Barbara, Helena, Dinah and Cass playing d&d together. I need more of that with the Batfamily and its used to show like a lot of family dynamics and kinda hit hard with some truths for them.

Jason and Dick go undercover at a theater company to investigate probably a series of jewel heists or something of the sorts. Dick is mostly focused on investigating. Jason has taken over the play the troupe is putting on and is determined to make it the best play ever, and will shoot the jewel thief in the shins if they even think about ruining opening night.

Bruce sitting in a superhero parent support group bc Alfred said it would help him vent about his stress and maybe get some tips on how to help his kids.

Alfred in a Home Alone situation and absolutely ruining the day of any villain that comes into the manor.

This one is stupid but Tim and Damian being stuck in a get along sweater for an entire mission and having to learn how to fight in it.

Movie night commentary from the entire peanut gallery that is the batfam and Bruce just sitting there like "guys please just watch the damn movie."

All of the batkids organizing a big roadtrip when Duke joins the family so they can get to know their new brother. Lots of siblimg bonding and hijinks ensue.

Jason had warned him it would happen far sooner than he'd like. Well joke's on him, any time was too soon. Too soon to see his own replacement. To see the person who was supposed to be his older brother but just turned out to be another person who'd abandoned him. Which is why he planned for this encounter. Planned for the moment they would corner him. Box him in. Take him down. Or at least, they would try to. Tim wasn't about to let that happen. He knew how to plan and evade and keep his cool with the best of them. Knew how to strategize and win against opponents that by all rights should be able to take him down without thought. How to use their emotion driven instincts to take them down. He'd done it hundreds of times with businessmen and rogues alike. A couple vigilantes wouldn't change that.

So he thought of every instance, every possibility, every reaction and planned accordingly. And how fitting he'd use this against them. After all, it was the one quality Bruce praised him on most. 

What he hadn't expected was to have Robin come across him alone. He'd thought of it, of course, but it had always seemed so unlikely with how much the new Batman mother birded the kid. 

Oh how wonderfully lucky he felt. Guess something had to go right in his life once in a while so the world could pretend it was balanced and good.

"Drake. I thought you might have the dignity to not be where you are unwanted.. I see you lost that as well," came the clipped, high pitched voice behind him. He had to give it to the kid, while lacking any sense of control, he had some skill. He reached up to turn off the comm link with Red Hood.

"Devin. If that is the standard for dignity, I suppose you never had any," Red Robin turned, a pleasant little smile staying firmly in place, "where's your babysitter, by the way? I thought you weren't allowed out after your bedtime?"

"It's Damian," the boy growled before turning cocksure, ignoring the last half of the comment, "or are you so dumb you can't even remember the name of the person who unseated you?"

"Funny, I thought it was you who struggled with names? Only seems fitting since you can't even say mine. Tell me, did you know that in many languages, addressing someone by their last name is a sign of respect?" He kept from grinning at the squawk of indignation he received, "You didn't deny never having dignity, so I'll assume I'm correct."

"I have more dignity in one pinky than you'll ever have," he failed to address the full sentence once more, but Red would allow it for now.

"I suppose you're right. You did make yourself disappear rather fast when it was made clear your mother and grandfather wanted nothing to do with you. Now if only you could take the hint now."

"You-" the kid started advancing, drawing his sword.

"Aww, poor baby, can't even fight with his words. Do you want to kill me because I'm right? Or because you know as long as I'm alive, you'll never be good enough?"

"I'm Robin! Batman chose me!" Red dodged a wild slash from the katana trained on him, carefully twisting out of the way but never fighting back, the same way he always had. The way Damian had come to expect by now. But he continued talking as they made their way around the rooftop, keeping the brat too angry to focus on technique.

"Yeah, a fake Batman. The real one had to die for you to be chosen. How does it feel to know your father didn't want you on the streets with him? That he didn't trust you. That he chose me over you every time?"

"Grayson was your brother and he chose me! You have no family," the attacks became more sporadic, angrier. Less in control.

"We don't share blood," despite the accuracy of the kid's words, he knew blood meant everything to Damian. And he knew how to use that against him. "My blood family is all dead. They can't be with me. Yours sent you away. Sent you to a father who didn't want you either. And when Bruce died, yours still wouldn't take you back," Red kept dodging, taking note of how the strikes lost all rhyme or reason as the boy lost words and started only letting out frustrated sounds, "Did you know Ras wants me as an heir? Has made so many offers and attempts to take me in? Your grandfather is so desperate to be my family, meanwhile he couldn't get rid of you fast enough. I wonder how that must feel? To know the only person who wants you is a man who only pities you?"

Right as a slash almost made contact, he drew his bow staff, deflecting the hit and disarming Robin in two perfect moves. It took him only a moment to pin the kid to the gravel beneath them.

"I'm Robin! I earned it!" Screamed from below.

Lowering his mouth to one ear, he spoke with quiet calm, only upsetting Damian further, "You are Robin. And you know why? Because Robin is a position given to those who have nothing left to cling to. Who need direction and commands to keep intact. It was never given to me. I took Robin because I wanted to. It was given to you because Dick saw how pathetically in need of it you were."

"I almost killed you, you weren't worthy," he argued, struggling against the pin.

"You only ever won because I let you. Because I never fought back. Because I knew Bruce wouldn't want me to. Now there's no one stopping me. You were never better than me. If you were, someone would love you."

The body below pushed and pushed and struggled until finally it settled down, angry tears glistening in the night.

"Run home, little Robin. You're unwanted here," he let go and watched the kid scramble up and away, straight into Red Hood. Launching backwards, Robin took one look at the crossed arms and tilted head of the bigger man and turned tail off the roof.

"How'd you manage to get that reaction out of the demon brat?" Hood asked as he picked his way over the where Red still crouched.

"He's useless when he lets his emotions get the best of him. Just had to hit the right buttons," he shrugged, pretending it was not a big deal. Like he hadn't verbally torn up a twelve year old just for being right.

"He got under your skin, didn't he?"

Grimacing, he stood and made way to the other's side, "You didn't hear, did you?"

"No," he admitted.

"I reacted to his words only in that I adjusted accordingly. Nothing was said in the heat of the moment on my part," he assured.

Sighing, Hood clapped him on the shoulder once, "If you say so. Let's call it a night, eh?"

"Yeah…"

Brief Bio: 

The son of Batman and the daughter of infamous Talia Al Ghul, Damian had big shoes to fill before he was even born. Brought into the world to be the eventual heir of the League Of Shadows, Damian was expertly trained by his Grandfather and Mother through early life to become the ultimate assassin and soldier. He was put through martials-arts training, combat, swordsmanship, as well as intricate academic studies ranging from languages, history, literature, and more. At the age of 9, Damian’s existence was brought to his father’s attention. Talia desperately wanted her child to have a better and safer life than she could give him with Ra’s tight grip controlling their lives, so she told her beloved of Damian’s existence and asked him to raise their child from here.

Damian was brought into Bruce’s home and had immediate trouble adjusting to his new life. Raised in a rigorous environment, he adamantly disagreed and hated the things Bruce stood for. The two fought often, mostly over the morals Damian was taught to have and the way he was conditioned from Birth. However, shortly after Damian’s arrival, Bruce “died”, leaving the child in the care of his adoptive eldest brother Dick Grayson. Dick had a different approach to parenting and well, everything, even though he was raised by Bruce after his parents’ tragic death many years earlier. Initially, Damian did not get along with Grayson and went out of his way to do things how he deemed fit. But, through months of bonding, shared experience, and his first real experience of unadulterated love, Damian grew fond of his brother, and saw Grayson as his proper partner, saying they were the best Robin and Batman duo to grace the Earth. 

Bruce was eventually revealed to be alive, redawning his cape and cowl, much to Damian’s distaste. However, despite their disagreements, Damian still loved his father. Family was a big matter to the child. Through years and years of events, from Damian dying to other strange experiences, Damian began to change his behavior and outlook on life. He decided to use his teachings and skill to fight for those who could not fight for themselves and uphold Justice in the world rather than mindlessly killing for power.

After turning 13, Damian became an important figure in the Teen Titans. Also at this age is when he met Jonathan Kent/Superboy. They two did not get along at first, but through their adventures together, became best friends. He is very fond of the boy, and would go to the ends of the earth for the kryptonian. 

Miscellaneous Stuff: 

- I portray Damian as gay/homosexual. But, he is only interested in Jonathan Kent (Superboy from DC) so it most likely won't show up or be relevant too often as he is a pretty closed-off person

- He’s the #1 Nightwing fan! :) My own interpretation is that.

- Damian is EXTREMELY tiny for his age. Going off of the fact he is about half/3/4th’s Batman’s height (which is 6’ - 6’2), I headcanon him to be about 4’ 5 ft ( 134 cm) and 69 lb ( 31 kg ). 

- Despite his general skinny appearance, he is quite muscular for his size due to years of combat training.

I'm gonna use unpublished Nightwing #30 here: he and Kory had sex when he was getting ready for the agente stuff.

Once Agent 37 is off the deal, they end up finding each other again. A bit before Dick gets shoot.

And then, as usually it is between the acrobat and the alien princess, they do it again. 

Over and over again.

She gets pregnant and finds out by the time Dick is amnesic.

Don't @ me DC would do that.

Kory flies towards Bludhaven & talks to him. It's not exactly successful. As he had said to Babs before, he didn't want his memories back. Ric was happy without Dick's conscience.

But Starfire isn't asking for her; it's about him, of course. He should be himself, he worked very hard through years to become who he truly was. But mostly, she begged him to come back because of a new addition to their lives.

Pregnant alien!!

At first, Ric Grayson doesn't believe it. Actually, part of him is aware that's true, he can feel it in the change inside his heart when he saw her; something similar to shame and adoration and excitement at once. Kory moved, talked, and seemed like someone he could love, be completely crazy about.

But he wasn't a father!

Koriand'r leaves, and Grayson is by himself again. Without his Gotham or Titans affiliates.

And, for the first time, there is no comfort in that.

He could tell she wasn't lying. Even though a part of his treacherous new mind tried to convince him otherwise.

Grayson's mind didn't know any gorgeous alien, let alone a pregnant with his child alien.

Yet, Dick felt like he had her in his veins. Just like he did with Bruce, Damian, Barbara, Donna, and the others. Tickles behind his skin, a red alarm for a memory that was long lost. But the sensation of keeping it somewhere remained inside him.

Although, when it came to the redhead princess, the warmth inside him was more intense.

Dick was going to be a father. He didn't even know his whole self and would be needed to take care of someone else. Someone small, part of him, and the legacy of the Flying Grayson's. Besides, he didn't even actually remember the mother of his kid.

He calls Bruce. Telling him to bring the antidote that Barbara was keeping if he wanted his memories back.

Not for him, not because it was the right thing, not because of everyone who claimed to love him cried for Dick to do that. Not even because of familiar senses holding into him every time he interacted with someone from his past.

But because he was going to be a father.

This decision was for his child.

When Bruce, Babs, and Damian ask why, he doesn't answer.

He remembers now, and he needs to find Kory.

It's scary, exciting, and the biggest surprise she ever gave to him-- even more scandalous than the day she fell on earth and kissed him.

A dad! He would be a dad!

Jason Todd

It all started off as an unusual ordinary day; 

Roy got himself in trouble, Jason went to help him and the little problem became a bigger situation. Roy called Kory and a few minutes later, the situation was replaced by dust and fire smell. No one died, but it was enough to make the villains leave.

In the middle of ''What the fuck they wanted?" & "Who were they?" wonders, the original Outlaws heard a familiar motorcycle's noise which made Jason huff, Roy arch eyebrows and Kory confused. 

Dick Grayson was there.

He was hysterical, blue eyes flaming with worry and relief towards Kory. Between their couple discussion and the others attempt to understand what was going on 

Were they back together? Did dick know about the outlaws' way and was sticking his nose where it didn't belong? Did the titans need kory urgently? 

Until 'pregnant' left Dick's lips, being followed by Kory's chaotic scream of "Just because I am pregnant, it does not mean I can not fight!"

Roy just had to get closer to them and explain that it would make no good to go through stressful situations, especially if he got it right. 

A deep breath would be taken, and then Dick would apologize to Kory, saying he was just really scared for both of them. She'd look at her Outlaw friends and curve the corner of her lips-- that Kory smile that translate into 'I've seen hell and chose to use its flames to warm up the cold places of my heart.'

‘’Jason, Roy. . . I am expecting a baby.’’

Meanwhile, Jason was taking off his helmet and glaring at his friends with a perplexed look on his face. Also, a slightly desire of punching Dick. Last time he had heard of their relationship, it was about both of them avoiding each other, his older brother telling him to take care of Kory and Jason calling Dick an idiot. Yeah, he had to have a chat with him later.

For now, Roy was pulling him and Kory into a group hug.

Almost felt like their old times together.

Roy: Outlaw baby!!  /  Dick: Excuse me?

Tim Drake

Okay, okay. First of all, he wasn't planning on seeing any member of his family for a quite while. Not that Tim didn't want to, he was just really running out of time. Being Young Justice's leader was a full time job, and he wanted to be excellent at it.

But things don't always pass by as they were settle to. Therefore, when a disaster happens and Conner, of all people, gets hurt, Tim is in a delicate state of mind.

Drake is smart. He knows it isn't just about Conner. It's all the small things he's been keeping since Gotham.

Not enough sleep, but a certain amount of coffee to make his hands shake when it's late enough for the sun to come out weakly. His relationship with Steph is growing with disagreements from both lives; heroic and urban. His best friend is hurt because he analyzed too much a situation instead of telling his team what to do, so they made their independent choices. A dumb mistake, the kind that Batman would be disappointed of. Tim himself was biting his own neck about it. How could he be a leader? He should be better than that.

And then, he made a call. Because of all things he might be and might not be, he wasn't Batman.

Tim had friends, and a brother that would know what he was going through.

And he knew how to ask for help sometimes.

Dick comes by as fast as possible. They go to the roof and talk it out.

"Remember that they aren't just your team, Tim," He would say, a tranquil smile on his face. It's so similar to how he explained his relationship with the Titans when Drake was still Robin years ago. "They are your family. It's impossible for you not to be affected when they get hurt or something goes wrong. But they are alive. They still trust you. They believe, and need you. You need to give yourself some credit, and do your best for them."

OF COURSE Tim is stubborn about that because Dick is Dick and he basically grew with the Titans, it wasn't the same thing. He didn't have his older brother's skills to command, communicate, etc.

It was scary.

"Yet, Tim, a lot of things are scary. But you have to keep going. For who needs saving. For yourself. For the people you love."

His tone is too sentimental, even for Dick's big brother moments.

"You need to find something to fight for. That's how you keep going, even when you make mistakes. Good news, you already have it. "

Tim: Yeah, I think so. . . You came back to the Titans? I still have access to the computers.

Dick: Yeah, no. Kind if. It's complicated.

Tim: "Complicated? Like. . . Alien kind of complication?"

Dick: "You should know about that, huh?"

BLUSHING, STUTTERING TIM. Cutting it because I already mentioned Steph, but I couldn't miss this opportunity ok.

Dick just laughs about it.

"Starfire isn't complicated, but yeah. We are still deciding if we will keep in the Titans or if we are going to Bludhaven for now."

"It sounds serious, even permanent."

"As permanent as a baby can be."

Yeah, Tim was pretty wake, and shaking, and his brain felt like burning right now.

OH MY-- DICK

He was going to be a FATHER.

"YOU ARE GONNA BE A PARENT!"

But then, Dick was the older one and the best with kids.

"WAIT, SHE WILL BE HALF ALIEN. An hybrid. In nature, two different but similar species can procreate, but their kid can't have kids. Do you think--"

"Tim, calm down. Can you at least give me congratulations before talking about my unborn child's probable infertility?"

Damian Wayne

He knew Kory and Dick had been seeing each other again.

Therefore, making one of them notice his presence before showing up was necessary.

He didn't want to accidentally see profanity between his brother figure and his team's current leader, thank you.

After an obvious noise, he got in Dick's apartment.

As expected, Starfire was there.

She was standing up, and Grayson and looking at her tearful, while holding her belly.

It wasn't possible.

Grayson wouldn't be that irresponsible, would he?

Of course he would.

" So, I supposed Starfire either has a deadly bellyache, or you two are procreating. "

He is mildly fearing that Dick won't have much time for him, but that's a matter for another time.

BONUS!

Bruce Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth

Dick visits the manor with Kory someday.

He had to give the news or Batman would end up knowing anyway.

Honestly, it wasn't about that. He actually wanted to tell Bruce about his baby.

Alfred was there when they exchanged greetings, politely as usual.

‘'We are having a baby.'’

Listen, Bruce knows how to keep his emotions under his skin, but his eldest son being a father?

This must be the most real expression he has showed in years, and it's full of emotions; he is content, and surprised, and worried.

Some would say that Alfred was tearfully, but kept his posture. Master Bruce really made it. Obstacles, of course, even more than necessary at times. Yet, he was going to be a grandfather, and master Dick was becoming a father.

Gotham had a sunny day for once.

Barbara Gordon 

If it's not Kory and Babs' baby, she will be aunt Babs

Something happens, help becomes needed.

Nightwing shows up in the middle of the combat, he was in Gotham to talk to Bruce & Alfred & Damian, anyway.

Batman dispersed him, though.

And Batgirl was confused by Batman's choice, especially after listening to his explanation:

"Nightwing, this is more dangerous than our usual job. I will take Robin and Batgirl. You have more urgent thinks to be taken care of. "

The dynamic duo leaves and there is just two long time friends. 

It doesn't take a half second for Barbara to notice Dick hiding something.

Sigh, sigh, sigh.

"All right, Dick Grayson. What did you do?"

"Apparently, a baby."

"He has been ditching me since he learned about Kory's pregnancy."

"KORY'S WHAT!?"

"You didn't even tell me you two were back together!"

"You lost your virginity to an attractive alien and now she is pregnant with your child. That is. . . Surprising."

"I am really happy for you, Dick."

"Thank you, Babs. . . You know what? Maybe it's time to actually introduce you to Kory."

Communicator ringing.

"After I take care of something. Go home, dad."

In case you didn’t get enough DC hcs already, one of my favorites is that Dick uses anything he can (birthday, Christmas, “I’m injured so be nice to me”) to get family members to “willingly” give him hugs.

Slight description of injury

-o-o-o-o-

Damian isn't going to fall for it. Not this time. Richard isn't above abusing the concept of injury to force hugs out of him. He's watched even his father crumble to Richard's whining about but it's Christmas or oof ouch my ribs hurt and only a hug can cure me!

Rediculous. Hugging a man with injured ribs would just make the injury hurt worse. But Todd still fell for it.

Todd.

Damian is not as weak as them. Especially now, trapped in a cellar with his eldest brother for three days now, hardly any hope of rescue. At least, any hope of rescue arriving on time. The kidnappers were thorough and smart, taking Damian and Richard when they were driving between Blüdhaven and Gotham on country roads instead of the highway due to a giant crash that happened earlier that morning. Damian suspects the crash was caused by the kidnappers themselves, but he has nothing to prove it. Yet.

They were run off the road into a field belonging to some poor farmer, right into the ditch where water would be carried from place to place to easily water crops. They hardly had a chance to fight back before they were dragged from the wreckage of their car, mostly because the abductors were quick. Partly because Richard somehow ended up with his whole arm wrapped in barbed wire from the fence that collapsed from the collision.

Blindfolds and cable ties were forced on them regardless of injury and soon with the prick of a needle, they both woke up here in the cellar without knowing how long they've been out nor where they were. Richard's arm was red and scabbing, and Damian felt sick to his stomach imagining the infection it must have. The only contact they've gotten from the kidnappers have been meals brought to them two times daily and one time they came in to take a picture of the two of them holding the day's newspaper yesterday. A ransom must be being made, but it's still been possibly over 72 hours and Richard is beginning to look awfully red and sweaty from fever.

Most kidnapping cases are hopeless after 24, even without injury.

And Damian knew, he knew sooner or later Richard will start whimpering like a buffoon to force a hug out of Damian, and he will not fall for it. He only gives Richard hugs when he deserves them, and he definitely doesn't deserve them right now. Not when they're both sitting and doing nothing; week, hungry, and thirsty, awaiting help from someone they do not know will actually come.

Richard sighs from besides Damian. But it's not a relaxed sigh. It's a forced sigh like Richard is trying to illude Damian to his real pain and weakness, but it's laced with tightness and an almost cleverly hidden groan. Damian looks over, trying to keep his chest from hurting just from the look of Richard, but it does anyway.

Richard looks so out of it. Anytime now he will turn and ask Damian for a hug. Or, what they can best accomplish ad a hug with both their hands restrained in front of them.

Any minute.

Richard looks at him and for a moment, Damian thinks this is it, but Richard simply smiles. "How ya doin', squirt?"

Damian curls his hands into fists. "Tt. I'm fine. It's you we should be worried about."

Come on, Grayson. Any time now...

"Oh, I'm good. I can go weeks like this. Not that I want to of course." Richard lets out a breathy laugh. "But we'll be rescued soon, just wait."

Silence stretches between the two of them.

Damian does his best to resist screaming in his mind. Just ask for a hug already! What is he waiting for? He's begged for physical affection because of a paper-cut before!

Minutes pass, and Damian sneaks a glare Richard's way, but his glare immediately fades into shock as Richard stares almost blankly at the ceiling, his head tilted back and his entire body looking like a marionette without strings.

And he realizes that he's been watching for the wrong thing, because as much as Richard is a hugger he is also the worst kind of martyr. He has a big brother complex and a hero's complex to coexist besides it. In situations like this, the last thing Richard would do is beg for something that could make his appear weaker.

He won't ask for a hug, because he's scared, and he doesn't want to show it.

"You're a fool," Damian hisses. Richard blinks, his eyes focusing just a bit and he turns to Damian with a questioning downturn to his lips.

Before Damian can reconsider his actions, he scoots closer to his eldest brother and leans against his good arm, resting his head against his shoulder. Richard goes stock still, a squawk leaving his lips, but Damian just closes his eyes and shakes his head, fighting off tears.

"A damn fool."

"Dami, what-?"

"Shut up. We will be okay. We always are."

Silence, and Damian can't read Richard's expressions from his position, nor with his eyes closed. But Richard unwinds slowly, the first relaxed breath Damian's heard in hours leaving his mouth.

Damian feels the weight of Richard's head slowly leaning down to rest on top of Damian's own. "Okay, little d." His voice sounds wet and heavy, like he too is fighting off tears. "Okay."
