Walked the Dandi Beach today morning with @sheetalvora. This is the site where the Salt Satyagraha started on 6th April 1930 when the march led by Mahatma Gandhi arrived at the sea front. The satyagraha was directed towards what was considered an unfair British monopoly on the production and distribution of salt. After longtime in #dandibeach #2015 To #2019 #beforeandafter #beforeandafterchallenge Dieses Denkmal in Dandi erinnert an die bedeutendste Aktion im Widerstand gegen die britische Besatzungsmacht: den Salzmarsch. Es zeigt eine kleine Geste mit großer Wirkung: Gandhi bückt sich und nimmt eine Handvoll Salz. Salz war ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor in Indien, auf dessen Gewinnung als auch den Handel die Engländer aber das Monopol hatten. Mit dem Salzmarsch setzte Gandhi 1930 ein starkes Zeichen zivilen Ungehorsams und des gewaltlosen Widerstandes. In der Sache war die Aktion simpel: Gandhi marschierte mit 80 Anhängern von seinem Wohnort in Ahmedebad die 385 Kilometer nach Dandi am Meer. Wie alle seine Aktionen hatte er auch dieses Vorhaben den Briten angekündigt. Der Marsch wurde zu einem Volkslauf: Tag für Tag schlossen sie mehr Menschen an. Etwa 10 000 Menschen erreichten nach 24 Tagen das kleine Dorf. Das Foto, wie Gandhi Salz aufhob, ging um die Welt und motivierte seine Landsleute, es ihm gleich zu tun. 50000 Inder, auch Gandhi, wurden daraufhin verhaftet, was den Erfolg der Aktion aber nur beflügelte. Only blues I prefer are of this kind👻. Where m I? -Dandi Beach,Malvan,Maharastra. Just like other beaches in Malvan, this Dandi beach is also a beautiful and happening place. It the most famous beach in Malvan. It has been named as Dandi beach since there is a temple of Lord Dandeshwar near this beach. . However, because it has a huge fish market business being set up here, some parts are not clean and have been dirtied by locals just like many of our country's other beaches. . But otherwise the view is spectacular. I had also read and heard that from here there is a nearby dolphin point also which can be reached by local boats and the view can be enjoyed. Have not experienced it by myself but will surely be on my list whenever I go there next time. . Also, Dandi beach too has a spectacular view of Sindhudurg fort, which was built by Maratha Emperor Shivaji Maharaj. Tourists can reach the fort by boats. Local fishermen help visitors reach the fort side by boats. . Only time, I regretted not being a Mumbaikar was just when I was exploring Konkan Belt range. There are so many breathtaking places nearby which Mumbaikars can have privilidge to visit and explore. But grass is always greener on other side, they say as I am sure, many of them don't even have idea of these places. . Thinking of this, my recent goals have got all the nearby places from Delhi to be visited first and then from Mumbai along with exploring other parts of India.
