I’M SO SORRY CYNTHIA ERIVO. I KNOW YOU’RE AN AMAZING ACTOR BUT YOU’VE GOT REAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY BIG SHOES TO FILL SO GOODLUCK ON THAT PRIMA FACIE MOVIE SWEETIE.🤭
But also like imagine if prima facie isn’t a limited run only play. They recouped after just a few months from opening on Broadway, imagine how much more they could’ve profited if they’re running for an extended period of time? That being said, I don’t think anyone can give justice to the role of Tessa Ensler better than Jodie. Dani Arlington would be an amazing replacement (and rightfully so) but let’s be honest here, replacing jodie would be really challenging since she swept almost all of the awards in less than half a year. Talk about pure fucking talent.

still quite shaken up by the news, so wishing jodie fast recovery, but let's give it up for dani arlington for stepping in as jodie's understudy in such a quick notice, given current circumstances 🙏

Chapter 9:
Arlington
Clay heard footsteps on the frosted grass and looked up from the place he was sitting. He was excited, hoping it was someone coming to visit him. He wasn’t cold or anything but he was pretty lonely. Sitting in the grass all day while waiting for people will make you realise a lot of things. To his surprise, he sees Leo and Dani walking towards him. He closes the old leather book and looks up when Leo gets closer.
“Hey, long time no see”
Clay smiles at him and is about to respond before Leo cuts him off.
“I know I haven’t been by in a while but a lot of things have been happening in my life and… I’m not saying I don’t have time for you! I just- I mean.”
Clay stands up and places a hand on Leo’s shoulder to tell him not to worry when he speaks up again.
“I’m getting married. It’s not a legal marriage, obviously,” Clay snorts at him. “ but a wedding with the team at home. In Louisiana, your parents will be there! They would love to see you. They miss you a lot and its become noticeable how old they are getting. Your dad is now using this really big walking stick to get around.”
Smiling imagining his dad with a big stick, swinging it around when someone annoys him makes his heart feel so happy. He sees Leo sniffle and wonders if he is catching a cold. He hopes not because in his current condition he would rather not get sick.
“I don’t know if you really remember Faye.”
Clay feels like his ears perk up like some animal when he hears that name. Faye, the daughter he hasn’t met yet. He was so excited to meet her! She is only about one or two now but he couldn’t wait to fly down to see her.
“ But she's amazing. Really young still but she looks and already acts so much like you it's scary. Ashley gave her up after her piece of shit husband decided he didn’t want some ‘bastard of a child’ in their growing family. She just dropped Faye off at your parents house without a word or really anything to take care of her.”
This… hurt. She was his daughter and he couldn’t even be there for her when she needed him most.
“Noelle and Thomas are working on officially adopting her. They still have your pictures up in their house. They miss you too.”
That hurt even worse. Fuck, he missed them so much but he was stuck here. They came to visit him recently and have been constantly for the last few months but he ached for them everyday. Thomas’ sense of humor and safe arms. Noelle’s beautiful smile and smarking attitude. He missed their kisses the most. He just wanted to touch them. But they were trying to adopt Faye, that made him have hope. Hope that they would keep visiting him and maybe even bring Faye with them.
“I came here to ask you something. I wanted to know if…”
He was choked up, Clay watched him struggle for words. Seconds pass, Leo looks like he is feeling a mix of anger and maybe even sadness. Clay wanted to know the question.
“I want you to be my best man. I have always wanted you to be my best man. I expected to be yours too.”
It feels like bells just rang in his ears. Even with him being this way Leo still wanted him to be his best man? Why not make Reg his best person? Did he really want this?
“You just mean so much to me and I wanted you to come even if you really can’t. It’s okay that you… can’t. But I want you there. Please be there. Please.”
‘I will be, I’ll be there.’ He hoped Leo could hear him.
“Reg put you in his last gallery, it was called Hero’s of Life. It had you and my mom. It had other people they knew earlier in their life but I didn’t really pay attention to them, if I’m being honest. Don’t tell them I said that though. They’d kill me.”
Clay smiles a little, thinking about the time when Reg had a gallery that was completely him and Leo. Their theme that year was something along the lines of how gays are represented and over sexualised vs how they want to be shown. He can’t remember the specifics.
“I brought you something.”
He knows where this is going, noticing the specific piece to Leo’s outfit that looks just a bit familiar.
“I thought you might want your hat, I’m not supposed to leave stuff with you but I can’t keep wearing this and not have an itchy feeling that I should give it to you. I even added a string to it so hopefully you won’t lose it. Here.” Flipping the hat so it's upside down in his hands, he reaches in the bottom and grabs the thick string. He pauses for a second just looking down at his situation. Dani finds her way between his arms and reminds him what he was doing. He reaches over and ties the string to the little cross that now represents his best friend. Tight enough it shouldn’t blow away in the wind. Resting the hat on top he holds his hand there for a moment before Dani rubs her forehead against his bicep. He pulls his hand away slowly watching the hat tap against the wood in the rhythm of the breeze, running his hand over Dani a few times as he stands back up.
Clay picks up the hat and places it on his head, feeling more complete than he has in a while. He runs his fingers over the brim and sighs in relief. He hears his name being called behind him, he turns around. Grev smiles at him, saluting him in his only airforce uniform. Lines of soldiers following his orders behind him. Leo was the ticket. The ticket to get him to the otherside.
“I’ll see you at the wedding. I love you Clay. I miss you, a lot.”
Clay watches him walk off, wanting to follow him but knowing he needs to go to Grev. Feeling a heavy hand on his shoulder he looks at the owner of the hand. Grev watches Leo leave.
‘It’s time to go.’ Clay nods, watching Leo and Dani walk past the crowd gathered at the tomb of the unknown soldier. The breeze flowing through him as he takes a deep breath.
‘I know.’

Prelude
This is a result of pure boredom at work...
Let me know if you’d like to read more.
This is a Steve Rogers x OFC.
TW: brief mention of suicide.
Prelude...
A computer.
Steve rolled his eyes when he first unpackaged the sleek, dark grey laptop.
Surely it was a joke.
Wanda assured him that now he was living in the 21st century, at least until further notice, he needed to update his tech game - at minimum to a rudimentary skill level.
Steve’s trip back to the 50’s post delivering the infinity stones to their required locations didn’t go as planned. There, he wasn’t being waited on. Life had moved on without him and he couldn’t bring himself to disrupt the established harmony - no matter how badly he wanted to belong again.
HIs friends, his duty and his life were in 2023 now.
That, and the Avengers needed direction. With Tony and Natasha gone, the team lacked tactical vision and strategy. He had to be sure there was a dedicated leader in place. Besides, what was he going to do with his time anyway?
Just try not to fall into a loop of cat videos. Wanda wrote.
He did. He had no regrets.
Each morning, Steve checked in with the usual suspects from either his room high atop the tower or from his condo in D.C. He also called Pepper every other morning to say hello and make sure she was well.
But now, three months after… the event, Steve was a little lost. So he turned to his computer, where he found another local support group for veterans. He wasn’t exactly living the life he intended, Stark technology or not, and knew that talking with others would be the best thing to do.
That’s what brought him to the St. Mark’s Church in Arlington that night - and many nights after as he visited a gathering for veterans. Not a structured meeting, but just a place where people could get together and share experiences and stories. Somewhere they could be with people who understood.
She was stunning. Beyond stunning actually. Brunette hair, deep, soulful eyes and dimples he could park a car in. He watched as she struggled with a box as she moved it from one table to another.
“Please, let me help.” He insisted, lifting the box from her hands. It had some heft to it, but nothing that made him flex a muscle.
“Thanks,” she smiled. “I always forget that just because I can fit everything in one box doesn’t mean I should.”
“Are you staying for the meeting?” Steve asked, setting the box in its rightful place before fixing his baseball cap.
“No, just dropping off supplies.” She replied, moving another, smaller box. “I sometimes help Terry out with donations when she needs a hand.” She added.
“That’s kind of you,” Steve added. “I’m sure a lot of people here appreciate it.”
“I’m sure they appreciate you being here, too,” she said with a knowing look.
“I’m just another body to fill seats,” he insisted. “It’s easy to listen and I’ve got time.” He looked around the room with upwards of 20 people milling about, drinking punch and chatting. “Did you serve?” He asked.
“No,” she smiled sadly. “My husband, did.” She added.
“Is he here tonight?” Steve asked before he could think. A dumb question to ask.
“No, he passed about two years ago,” she replied.
“I’m very sorry for your loss,” Steve said quietly. “I apologize for asking.”
“It’s okay,” She reassured. “‘Kinda why I like to help out when I can here,” she said, also glancing around the room. “Maybe if Ronnie had come to more things like this… he’d still be here.” She shrugged.
Steve felt worse. It didn’t sound as if combat was why her husband was no longer there.
“Well there’s plenty of spouses and others who come as well,” Steve supplied. “If you have any interest in staying.”
“Oh, I -" She began.
“Ma-ma,” Her head snapped to the left as a little girl in footie pajamas came wandering toward the two.
“Ivy!” She all but gasped, “you know very well you’re not supposed to get out of your booster seat or the car."
“It wasn’t hard,” the little girl shrugged, a white teddy in one hand and the other pushing her own brunette hair back from her face. Steve gave a small smile.
“Can we get French fries?” She asked, walking right up to her mother and resting her chin against her thigh, looking up at her with big, glassy eyes.
“No, we’re not getting French fries,” the woman insisted, running a hand through the little girl’s hair. “You had dinner hours ago.”
“Who are you?” Ivy asked, looking over at the man standing near her mother. He fixed his baseball cap to reveal more of his face before crouching down to her level very slowly.
“I’m Steve, what’s your name?” He asked, sticking out his hand.
“Ivy Elena Markham,” she replied, shaking his hand.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Ivy Elena Markham.” He replied. “You walked all the way through the parking lot?” He asked, to which she shrugged.
“Yeah,” she shrugged. “The car is boring.”
“You know why it’s extra important to listen to your Mama?” He asked, capturing her attention. “Because she’s got a direct line to Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy.” He said, watching as she twisted her foot nervously. “And they take calls all year ‘round.”
“Mama I’m sorry,” Ivy pouted at her mother.
“It’s okay baby, but you need to stay in the car when I say so,” she insisted. “What if you got hit by a car, huh?” She asked running her hand through her daughter’s hair again. “Where are my manners? I’m Dani,” she turned to Steve.
“Dani Louise Markham,” Ivy parroted from the ground.
“It’s nice to meet you, Dani.” He smiled warmly. “I’m Steve,” he added.
“Mama,” Ivy tugged on her pant leg.
“I know baby, let’s head home, huh?” She asked.
“French fries!” She smiled happily. Her mother was no stranger to a late-night fries and Diet Coke run.
“We’ll see,” Dani reached down and swung Ivy up and onto her hip. “Thanks for your help, Steve,” she repeated. “And thanks for being a resource, they could use it.”
“Everyone needs a friendly ear once and a while,” he said pointedly.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” She smiled. “Come on, bug, let’s see what we can do about some fries.”
Ivy waved goodbye to Steve over her mother’s shoulder.

Hi Taylor! You don’t know me but I’m Dany a Mexican swiftie. I’m so happy because this year finally i’ll see you for the VERY FIRST TIME LIVE after 10 long years and I would love to thank you for many reasons.
First, I think I’ve been growing up with you. Your music saved my life. I remember the first time I found you, it was with Love Story and I was like “OH MY GOD WHO IS SHE? THIS IS SOOOOOOO GOOD” and then I realize that you are the most beautiful human being. You’re mansion with a view.
Second, throughout these 10 years you’ve taught me that you have to be good with people even when they don’t deserve it.
And finally, how little it really means your “reputation” when is defined by those who don’t know you. You light up my life and thank you for this.
Thank you for your debut album because I learned that dreams come true
Thank you for ‘fearless’ because you have to be brave to say goodbye even when you feel you can’t breathe
Thank you for ‘speak now’ because you taught me you’ll regret everything you didn’t say.
Thank you for ‘red’ because even when it’s the saddest stage in your life there’s always hope and you can begin again
Thank you for ‘1989’ because you gave me the courage to change and now I know who I am
Thank you for ‘reputation’ because I know people talk but they only show the version they have chosen to show you.
I’m traveling from Mexico to Arlington, TX just to see the reputation stadium tour and sing along with you all the songs that have defined different stages in my life. Can you find me there and let me give you a big hug? IT’S A LOVE STORY BABY JUST SAY YES!
You can find me in:
SEC 123, ROW 13, SEAT 19
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!

C11- The World and the Road Dogs
Tumblr media
{June 8th, 2009 Arlington, Texas Cowboys (AT&T) Stadium Nick- 16|Mel-14}
Tumblr media
It was getting closer and closer to the boys' first "World Tour", everyone and their mother were excited. It was going to be one hell of a year, to be quite honest. The Jonas Brothers were set to perform in many countries all around the world till December of that year, with little to no break, while flying out to Canada to film Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.
From the last time we had heard from the boys, a lot had happened, Nick and Melissa had a stint there were they had broken up for a few weeks. At the time they had fought about the fact that there were rumors that Nick had cheated on her with Miley. Melissa being young and naive, believed the media over someone that she had known her whole life. So they had split up, the time apart was good for the two teenagers, Nick had gotten some good songs out of it for the upcoming album, and Melissa had learned to be alone for a while.
As time went on, they started to realize how silly it all was, and Melissa had apologized to Nick, knowing that she was in the wrong. There was silence for a day or two, then he showed up at her doorstep with flowers and the biggest, sappiest smile in the world, and they were together again. I mean they do belong together, correct?
Since the Jonases and Melissa had once lived in Texas, it was easy for them to be doing rehearsals for the tour, as Denise and Kevin Sr. had recently bought a house in Dallas.
Nick and Melissa pulled up in Nick's new shiny black Camaro, as it was bright and early in the morning on the first day of tour rehearsals. "You sure you wanna stay all day babe?" Nick asked, their hands still interlaced together.
She nodded, taking the Road Dogs hat off of her boyfriend's head, and slipped it on hers. "I-I'm sure baby." she smiled and kissed his cheek.
They got out of the car, and Nick came right around to her side, interlacing their fingers again as Rob Brenner, their tour director came up and greeted them.
"You're late Jonas." he joked, grinning as he chuckled. Nick smirked at him, "sorry, we got stuck in traffic." he squeezed Melissa's hand, knowing that wasn't exactly the truth.
The hours passed by and the boys were all bouncing ideas off one another, it was amazing to see how once one good idea came to mind, a million more came out.
"Okay, so we're gonna run through the show once more, Melissa do you want to run through Before the Storm with Nick?" Rob asked, coming up to the young teenager who was sitting in one of the seats that were set out.
Melissas's head immediately shot up at the sound of her name, her glossy eyes looking over at Nick who was getting his guitar ready. "I-I don't know. I mean, Nick do you wanna?"
His brown eyes glanced at her, "We can, yah." he said softly, they both knew why the song was written, and what it meant for the both of them.
Melissa nodded, and went to go get the in-ear set up. "It'd be between Can't Have You and Video Girl correct?" she asked.
Eleven songs later, and Mel was standing next to her boyfriend, a little bit of nerves running through her. "Ready?" she whispered to him, and leaned over to kiss his cheek before Joe waved to them as the lift brought them up to the stage.
Nick began strumming his guitar, as Melissa began singing the song that they both loved more than anything, but it was also the one that broke them down.
"I know this isn't what I wanted I never thought it'd come this far. just thinking back to where we started, and how we lost all that we are."
Before Nick began singing his part, Melissa stepped back and turned herself around so she could look into his eyes. Sometimes she couldn't believe that she was so blessed to have that boy not only as a boyfriend, but as a best friend.
"We were young and times were easy, but I could see it's not the same. I'm standing here, but you don't see me. I'd give it all for that to change.
And I don't want to lose her, don't wanna let her go."
Nick's eyes wouldn't leave hers as he sang his part, they both thought back to the moment that Melissa had heard the song. It was a very emotional time for the two young teens, but the first time that she had stepped into that recording booth to lay down her vocals... she could barely finish the song.
Even with the fact that when they recorded it, their relationship was fine, they were perfectly in love... but the sheer thought of losing one another again; it hurt more than anything.
"I'm standing out in the rain, I need to know if it's over, Cause I will leave you alone. Flooded with all this pain, Knowing that I'll never hold her Like I did before the storm... yeah. Before the Storm." ———- {June 20th, 2008 Arlington, Texas Cowboys (AT&T) Stadium Nick- 16|Mel-14}
"Boys, it's time to get in the boxes." Paul came up as they were all getting ready to go on stage. Even Melissa who had already been in hair and make up, "once we get all three of them to stage, we will come back and get Melissa."
Nick looked over at his girlfriend who was pacing, she had never done this big of a performance before, "babygirl, you sure you want to do this?" he asked, coming up to her.
She looked up at him, chewing on her lip, "I-I'm sure. As long as you're with me. I'll be okay." she said softly, leaning over to kiss his lips lightly before she let him get into his box.
"Love you." they both whispered to one another, before one of the stage hands closed Nick's box and the two teens were separated.
About ten minutes had passed and Paul was wheeling back Nick's box, "he said to keep the little light on, it gets a little scary in there." Paul smiled at her.
Melissa giggled, and climbed in the box, she immediately saw the all of Nick's stickers, and his little personal touches he added to the interior of the box.
Her heart immediately melted as she saw the little note taped to the black wood, with "Lyssa" scribbled on it. She opened the note, tears welling up in her eyes at how sweet her boyfriend was,
"Angel💕,
I know i'm gonna see you in a matter of minutes, but i wanted to let you know how much i appreciate you, and how much i love you. you mean everything to me, and without you, i'd be lost.
but i want to take a minute to let you know that you are the one thing that keeps me going everyday, and i'm grateful that i can wake up every single morning with you beside me. you are the light of my life. i hope you know that i will never ever let you go. it's you and me forever, right baby?
i love you princess, see you in a sec.
-your Nicholas💕"
Her heart was pounding as she read the sweet note, wondering when the heck he would've written it, as she had been with him literally all day.
Within minutes she had gone over the huge bumps, and was surrounded around thousands of screaming fans. She was pushed underneath the stage and the latch on the outside of the wooden box was opened by none other then her boyfriend.
"Hey baby, have fun?" he grinned, his guitar strapped across him.
She blushed, as he helped her get up and she hugged him, kissing him softly, "Yes I did, thank you for the note. I loved it." she whispered in his ear, slipping the beloved note in her back pocket for safe-keeping.
"Nick! to the stage! now!" Kevin interrupted the two lovebugs, and summoned his little brother to him. Melissa pouted, but let the teen go. "Good luck boo. I'll be out there watching in a second." she whispered, kissing him once more before she let him go. "love you."
The beginning of Paranoid was soon being played and Melissa smiled big, hurrying out of the stage with Aunt Denise who wanted to see her boys doing what they loved. ———- {7/15/2009 Newark, New Jersey Nick- 16|Mel-15}

It was a beautiful day in Hartford, Connecticut, the weather was beautiful and everyone was beyond excited for the game against ESPN.
Melissa and Nick stepped off the bus, hands interlaced as both of them were decked out in their Road Dogs gear. Melissa wearing some cute shorts instead of the softball pants that everyone else was wearing.
"Ready for the game Captain Nick?" Melissa asked, smiling over at her boyfriend as they walked towards the field. As they began to get closer, the fans could be heard more and more. Her anxiety beginning to get the better of her.
"Definitely, are you ready to cheer me on angel?" Nick asked, smiling big as they both had picked out what would be on the back of Melissa's jersey.
The back said; Nick's Angel
Nick's grip on her hand tightened as they began to walk through the crowd, "don't let go baby." Nick whispered in her ear, as the girls surrounded them. "Let us through girls!" Nick exclaimed.
Melissa's head spun slightly, yes she always been apart of this life with them, but she still wasn't used to it.
After a few minutes, the girls finally listened to Nick's request, making a path for them. They quickly made their way through and as they went to the field, Joe's eyes lit up as he saw the two lovebugs.
"Finally you two decided to show up! Hey Popstar, are you okay?" Joe asked, coming up with worry written all over him.
Melissa, who was standing next to Nick, clutching onto him as her heart pounded still. She was completely out of it, "H-Hey S-Superstar... y-yah, yah I'm okay." she stuttered out, leaning her head against Nick's shoulder.
Nick glanced down at her, then back up at Joe who was looking at the young girl skeptically. "We went through the group of fans out there, she's just a little on edge at the moment."
Joe nodded, "you'll be okay boo." he smiled weakly at the couple, "just take deep breaths." he told her, then made his way back over to the team.
Nick pulled the girl to a seat and set her right onto his lap, "will you be okay? if you stay with Dani?" he asked, interlacing their fingers together and let her distract herself by playing with them.
She looked up at him, her eyes glossing over, "Y-Yah, I will be. I'm sorry my mood changed so quickly... I-I don't understand what happened." she said softly, trying not to have her voice crack so much, but she wasn't successful.
"Don't worry about it Angel." he whispered, and kissed her gently before helping her up. She smiled at him weakly, then followed the team out.
Danielle came up, smiling at Melissa, "you okay babe?" she asked, standing next to her in the dugout.
Melissa looked over at her, "the boys talked to you, huh?" she chuckled softly, "Yah, I'm okay. Just the crowd of girls wouldn't move... never had experienced them not listening like that. It's like they don't care about the boys, or the loved ones around them." she explained, sighing as she looked down.
Danielle nodded, "I understand that, the first time I experienced it with the crew, one of the fans pulled me back... literally grabbed my shirt and yanked. Kevin was so furious, he wanted to sue the girl." she recalled, her hand resting on Melissa's back. "You'll get used to it sooner or later."
A couple of hours later, the Road Dogs had won the game, and everyone was rushing back to the buses to either take showers there or two gather their things to take a shower when they got back to the venue.
Halfway through the game, Melissa had asked Danielle to take her back to the bus, as she still wasn't feeling herself and she had too much on her mind.
"...yah mom, I just don't know if I can deal with it anymore, the fans don't respect the boys or their privacy at all. I mean, I love Nick... with all my heart, more than anyone... but I just can't do it anymore..." Melissa was sitting in Nick and her's bunk, a fluffy blanket wrapped around her body.
She had tears falling from her eyes as she knew that she couldn't live without Nick. "So what do you want to do?" her mom asked on the other line.
Melissa wiped her tears away, "that's the thing I don't know what I want to do." she mumbled, and she flinched as she heard the bus door slam open, "Lyssa?" Nick's sweet voice flowed through the bus.
"I gotta go mom, love you." she said softly, and ended the call immediately.
"Baby, what happened to you out there?" he called, and she peeked her head out, "I-I'm okay baby." she whispered and smiled weakly as her brown eyes landed on Nick —who was all hot and sweaty... damn.-
Nick came and sat next to her interlacing their fingers together. "Is it because of earlier? Lyss... you know, I'd never let them hurt you."
"That's what Dani thought too..." she thought, but smiled at him, as his gentle hand came up and moved a stray piece of hair back behind her ear.
Every time he touched her like that, she tell more and more in love with him... she wanted to be with him. He was her soulmate, but the fans always seemed to get in the way.
"Let me take care of you angel. Let me in. Lemme inside that beautiful head of yours." he whispered, his eyes not leaving hers, as he leaned over to kiss her lovingly. "Let me love you." ————

Under the cut you can check out all the players that have been accepted for their roles. Congratulations! Please take a look at the instructions at the bottom of the page. For those who haven’t been accepted this time around, don’t be discouraged! Send me a message if you want more feedback on your application and I would love for you to re-apply in the future! Congratulations again to all of you and Welcome to RESURGENCE!
✦ Roman, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Heath Arlington & Cormac Newman. You chose two characters that are practically opposites, and yet you managed to bring them both to life. I was completely in love with both your applications! For Heath, I absolutely adored the way you developed the parallels between Cerberus and the underworld, and how much the club means to them. And for Cormac my favourite thing is definitely his identity crisis of sorts, and how he’s trying to solve it actually making it the topic of his thesis. I think there’s so much potential here and I can’t wait to start seeing them in action! Great job! (fcs: finn wittrock, thomas doherty)
✦ Marie, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Elena Lima & Pietro da Costa. Elena and Pietro are trouble in such different ways, but also in the best way. Elena with her almost naivety when it comes to romance, and her need for attention; and then Pietro, this reformed devastatingly charming surfer who’s out to break all of our hearts. It’s not easy to write two apps for two major gods like Aphrodite and Poseidon - but you managed to do it wonderfully! I can’t wait to start writing with you, and see what’s going to happen with them. Amazing job! (fcs: bianca santos, marlon teixeira)
✦ Shannon, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Valentine Wyght. I absolutely loved Valentine’s family history, and how much that impacted on his personality. How is rebellious ways started as a way of trying to belong, and the search for a place he could finally called home basically still follows him around. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen to him now that he’s back and he’s clearly seeing things from a different perspective. Is the bad boy attitude over for good? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Amazing job! (fc: sean teale)
✦ Harleigh, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Rhiannon Hébert. A champion returns! Lawful evil Rhiannon? Sign me up! One of the most interesting things about Hera as a goddess is how grey her morals are. Sometimes she’s a hero, sometimes she’s an icon, and others she appears like a true villain. I think your app for Rhiannon reflects just that. It’s hard to portray such a morally grey character in a modern setting, but you did a wonderful job, and I can’t wait to see the queen of Mount Wells in action! Drama is assured! (fc: paulina singer)
✦ Kiki, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Dorian Winslow. One of the things I love the most about Dorian is that he’s such a wild card. The way he’s written, mixed with the Dionysus’ soul component pretty much allows you to go anywhere with him. You saw this change, and took advantage from it flawlessly. From his passion for art, to his predilection for social media, to his commitment when it comes to equality; there’s a lot of potential there and i can’t wait to see him in action! Great job! (fc: avan jogia)
✦ Nat, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Naia Guerrero. What a lovely and refreshing application this was! I’m so glad that Naia is here to complete our trio! I love how determined she is, how passionate she is, her relationship with the ocean since the beginning, how her parents’ divorce affected her, and how she balances partying and having fun with starting her own life project. I think there’s so much potential there, for both development and drama, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for her. Wonderful job! (fc: bruna marquezine)
✦ Kat, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Vera Whittemore. I love love love how much thought you put into this application. You just need to read your occupation section to realise you’ve planned everything in Vera’s life to the T, and that’s absolutely amazing to see. You’ve managed to take the info in the skeleton, and give it your own twist, turning Vera into a complex character I’m so eager to see grow here. I can’t wait to write with you and see her in action. Congratulations! (fc: dominique provost-chalkley)
✦ Izzy, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Edith Pratt. There’s a Clover, and also an Edith, and I couldn’t be happier we got our terrible duo complete from the very beginning! I love the extra quotes you added to the app, but my favourite part were definitely the headcanons. The ones about her relationship with her mum in particular. I feel like you managed to keep the “villain” aspect of Edith but at the same time you made her realistic, and that was amazing to read. I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table! (fc: sky ferreira)
✦ Nella, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Nina Campbell & Thea Crawford. When I saw your apps for these characters, my first thought was that it was going to be difficult not to make them similar. Even though their stories and backgrounds are completely different, it would be easy to fall for that trap. However, you avoided it completely! You gave Nina a very defined personality, and you wrote a very misguided one for Thea, which I believe was key for both interpretations. I can’t wait to see what kind of situations they’ll both go through now that they’re making changes in their lives. Great job!  (fc: naomi scott, sofia carson)
✦ Dani, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Tristan Santiago. Finally a Tristan! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw your application. I absolutely loved how detailed it was. Tristan’s relationship with his family, everything to do with his biological father, and his reaction to this sudden fame he has gained after what happened - everything is so well thought and beautifully written that I could go on and on about all the parts I enjoyed while I was reading it. I can’t wait to write with you and see Tristan develop! Wonderful job! (fc: diego boneta)
✦ Mia, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Dera McClery. I absolutely love Dera. I think she’s one of the most interesting characters of this roleplay, and I’m so glad she has found such a passionate roleplayer to bring her to life. My favourite part of your app were definitely the headcanons. You managed to combine fundamental traits of her character with little things that also paint a perfect picture of who Dera McClery is. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for her and her abilities! Congratulations! (fc: saoirse ronan)
✦ Chloe, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Amdeus Minett. We have all of our love gods with us and I couldn’t be happier about that! Pretty much like Eros and Aphrodite themselves, Amadeus and Elena paint such a different picture of what love means, and I’m eager to see how that develops. I love how passionate he is about his art and how his creations seem to be the only true love he can keep (and let me tell you, I also appreciate that you went into so much detail about his art preference). There’s a ton of potential, and I can’t wait to see Amadeus grow as a character! Amazing job! (fc: joe keery)
✦ Caitlin, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of David Arevalos. A starving artist that works as a barista - I read that bit and I was already in love. David is simply adorable, and your application was a pleasure to read. I love his sensitivity, the way he thinks about art, and his interest in divination was such a good addition! Honestly all I could think while I read the app was that I want him as a best friend, please. I can’t wait to see him in action, and all that he’s going to bring to the rp! Congratulations!  (fc: tyler posey)
✦ Morgan, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Preston Carver. I was dying for a Preston! He’s definitely one of my favourite characters (maybe because I’m a gamer who plays D&D as well). I love that he’s the go to guy whenever someone is having computer problems (the text to his mum killed me), and on a more serious note, I really enjoyed how you balanced his gamer past with his present - how he enjoys interacting with people and how his personality comes alive when he’s on stream. Also I play a rogue, so much appreciated. Great job!   (fc: alberto rosende)
✦ Jane, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Zachary Bailey. I was so relieved when your application came because I was afraid we were going to start without our king of Mount Wells himself! Your interpretation of Zac is basically all that I would except in a modern Zeus, and more. Occupation: rockstar? Depending on his father’s money? Trying to drag his friends around towards every crazy scheme he comes up with? Just flawless. And to conclude, the text messages made me laugh out loud. Amazing job! (fc: michael b. jordan)
✦ Spooky, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Katrin Moreno (soul of Hecate). I love love the whole idea of Katrin. Their relationship with their parents, their grandmother, how they leaned on their friends, the fact that their background was so different from the usual one you’d find in Mount Wells - and yet they persevered and turned that into something magical; honestly I was hooked from the very beginning. I truly believe they will be a fantastic addition to the roleplay, and I can’t wait to see them in action! Congratulations! (fc: danny noriega/adore delano)
✦ Emma, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Clover Wald. This was such a difficult decision! Both applications had very good and different interpretations of Clover. Ultimately what swayed me was the amazing balance of her neutral evil nature. I enjoy a character who isn’t afraid to do morally grey stuff and is proud of it - and that’s exactly what Clover is about. There’s so much potential in her, and honestly I can’t wait to see how exactly she’ll shake things up. Wonderful job! (fc: courtney eaton)
✦ Aaliyah, you’ve been accepted to play the roles of Layla Dunn. Layla is completely and absolutely adorable. I love the fact that she’s very rational and practical, but she’s also got some pluck in her. I also find really interesting that she’s participating in the Science fair to possibly gain some perspective on what to do after she graduates. I feel that was a great way of giving your own interpretation and twist to the info in the skeleton! On a side note, the bit about Pottermore was fantastic; and I’m also addicted to Color Switch. Great job! (fc: jessica sula)

March Meeting Recap and Announcements
This month’s meeting was “All About Bindings." Five of our members led small demos on various topics related to finishing off your quilt with various binding methods: Rebecca Cynamon-Murphy, Sara Hochhauser, Heather Kinion, Dani Miller, and Carole Wool.
Rebecca Cynamon-Murphy shared with us a method for making continuous bias binding.  The method she showed us begins with a rectangle piece of fabric (most techniques have you begin with a square of fabric) and all you need to sew just two seams together.  During her demo she had members practicing using a piece of paper and masking tape.  For information on the technique Rebecca shared refer to her handout: Continuous Bias Binding.pdf.
Rebecca Cynamon-Murphy
Sara Hochhauser shared with us a technique for facing a quilt. This finish gives the edges of a quilt a clean look without the frame of traditional quilt binding. This technique starts with cutting four squares of fabric and folding / pressing on the diagonal creating a triangle. Place a triangle in each corner (on the front with the raw edges matching the sides of the quilt) and stitch in place with a ¼” seam. Place the binding strips on each side of the quilt leaving space on each end. This will reduce bulk in the corner and the triangle will cover the raw ends of the binding strips. Turn the binding to the back of the quilt and hand sew in place. Sara referred to Member Robbi Joy Eklow’s tutorial on How To Make A Quilt Facing. Refer to that blog post for more detailed instructions.
Sara Hochhauser
Heather Kinion shared with us a technique for perfect mitered corners. She begins by placing a pin on the top of the quilt at ¼” from the edge of the first corner. The binding strip is placed on the front of the quilt and is stitched down ¼” fro the side of the quilt. When Heather reaches the pin she stops. At this point you have a couple of options: 1. Lift your presser foot and turn your quilt 45 degrees. Lower the presser foot and sew a 45 degree angle right into the corner and off the quilt, or 2. backstitch.
Remove your quilt from the machine. Turn your quilt 90 degrees and fold the binding strip backward at a 45-degree angle. Keeping the fold from the last step in place, fold the binding strip forward. There should be a new 90-degree folded edge of binding that lines up with the raw edge you’ve just sewn. Take the quilt back to your machine and begin stitching making sure to backstitch at the beginning.  Repeat until all four corners are completed. When completed, Heather likes to press the binding on the front toward the edge to flatten the binding before folding it to the back. Heather shared with us a few of her favorite links for reference:
Get Sharp, Precise Corners on Your Quilt Binding Every Time - This tutorial demonstrates the stitch off the corner method and has great pictures
Turn Binding Corners Perfectly with Marianne & Mary Fons - This tutorial demonstrates the backstitch method and offers a great explanation of the process
The latest issue of Modern Patchwork March/April 2018 has a great article. There may also be a similar tutorial in an old issue of Love of Quilting or Quilty.
Heather Kinion
Dani Miller shared with us some techniques to finish off your binding by hand. Dani begins by threading her needle and tying a knot at the bottom. She prefers to use a double strand of thread.  Start somewhere on a side and turn the binding to the back being sure to cover the machine stitching. Begin by hiding the knot under the binding and pulling the thread so it’s perpendicular to the edge of the quilt. Using an applique stitch (aka blind stitch), the needle will come up through the quilt back (and batting) and then you will take a small stitch at the edge of the folded binding and return to tunnel through the quilt for one stitch length. Ideally you would want to catch only 2-3 threads with each "bite" of the binding and to take the stitch slightly under the edge of the binding fold. Stitches are placed about 1/8”–1/4” apart.
Keep a finger on the front of the quilt so you can feel if the needle is coming through. You don’t want to see any stitches on the front of your quilt. When you get to the corner, stitch through the east-west binding and then the exact corner of the north-south binding. Then go back through where you came out of the east-west binding. When starting a new thread (and Dani recommends you tie off when you have 5”-6” of thread remaining) come back through the binding edge right where your last stitch was. As another option, Dani recommends using the ladder stitch. Dani shared with us some of her favorite products:
Clover Black Gold Needles #9 Sharps
Superior Threads Bottomline 60 wt polyester in a color to match binding
Clover Wonder Clips to hold down the binding when you sew
Dani Miller
Carole Wool shared with us a technique for making a machine binding with a flange. You will need two fabrics, one as the primary binding fabric and the other as the flange (or accent). Cut the primary binding fabric 1.5” wide and the flange 1 ¾” wide (the length will depend on how much you need for your quilt). Right sides together, sew the strips together lengthwise with a ¼” seam. Press the seam towards the primary fabric. Fold lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. Attach the binding to the BACK side of the quilt. Fold the binding to the front and secure (with pins or wonder clips).  From the front of the quilt, stitch in the ditch along the flange to secure. THANK YOU Carole for the samples you provided. It will make things easier for us when we try this technique at home.
Carole Wool

Charity Projects
The guild’s QuiltCon Charity Quilt was on display in Pasadena last month and it was BEAUTIFUL.  After the convention the quilt was donated to the Las Vegas Modern Quilt Guild for their #quiltsforvegas project.
Members have been making string blocks and member Debbie Pine has been hard at work turning them into quilts. She has the first one completed. Isn’t it totally adorable?! Several members offered to piece tops and another took one home to quilt and bind. Debbie said she will continue as long as members are willing to make the blocks. So if you have any at home, get them done and bring to a guild meeting. Debbie also mentioned that she will look into getting more foundation paper squares.  GREAT JOB Debbie!!!
Member Sarah Shulman has been equally busy with the The Road Home Program quilts. She completed a third quilt top and shared it with us during Show & Tell. Isn’t it BEAUTIFUL?! Member Deb Pentek has offered to quilt and bind this quilt. To date, Sarah has two completed quilts and will be giving them to The Road Home Program shortly. Keep up the good work Sarah, you're doing an AMAZING job!!!
