#danny doesn't buy fruitcake In Front of Alfred but he is responsible for it showing up at the shrine
Note
Did Danny bring gifts for all of the bad family members or only the main ones?
And what was the conversation between him and Alfred that led to the decision to get all those gifts in specific?
Tumblr media
I'll be real I've mostly just been tossing ideas at the wall and seeing what sticks so to speak.
I think despite the efforts of Sam and Tucker they didn't know for sure the number of Bats were around Gotham. Changing their IP to Gotham sure did help with getting through the hiccups of social media but there was only so much to be done. The Horrible Cookies were meant to be the focal point and the gifts for the (seemingly) youngest was a safe bet.
The most recent Robin has a sword and that's only because of some invisible wanderings (Not Stalking) that Danny knows that much. Another weapon seemed safe enough. Maybe Jazz discretely inquires about gifts for some 'friends' of their new neighbors. They take a trip to one of the rooftop shrines during the day and take note on what's already put out there. Can't go wrong with what's confirmed Good Shrine Offerings ⟨™⟩ after all.
I bet Danny was just really earnest about wanting to make a good impression on some 'like-minded' friends. Or likening it to an awkward:
"We moved into an...associate's-" Don't say haunt, don't say haunt, don't say haunt. "-building!" Nailed it. "Obviously we're allowed to come in but we don't know if they'd be alright with us staying? For longer and I - well me and my sister, really just want to show our appreciation for letting us in the door-" Not that Danny knew for sure if they could do that but it felt like they did. "-let alone having us stay."
There was a long pause as the well-dressed man seemed to examine Danny. From messy black hair to well-worn shoes before he finally put Danny out of his misery.
"I find fruitcake is a winner for any housewarming parties."
Gotham felt strange but not hostile. If the alleyway's shadows felt a bit deeper, a little darker whenever he or Jazz had to use them neither of them had felt particularly threatened by it. Rather than that it felt...safe. Like the blanket forts he'd make with Sam and Tucker.
Obviously, they'd been given an acceptance by Gotham and therefore the Bats. A confirmation of their non-human status that had him almost giddy after the stressful escape road trip. It was unspoken, sure but it felt rude not to acknowledge them. As if they'd go to a grave and leave no flowers.
