Level 1: Dating sim character has a mental breakdown when they realise that they’re a character in a video game.

Level 2: Dating sim character realises that they’re a character in a video game, and is weirdly cool with it.

Level 3: Dating sim character knows they’re in a video game, but they’re convinced that they’re the human player and you’re just a fourth-wall-aware NPC.

Level 4: Dating sim character successfully proves that they’re the human player and you’re just a fourth-wall-aware NPC, whereupon the perspective immediately switches so that now you’re playing as them and your former viewpoint character is an NPC.

Level 5: Dating sim character successfully disproves that their world is just a video game, and the game immediately ends.

is there anything sadder than realizing that your absolute favorite character in a game cannot be romanced? this is the bracket for you! or, well, for those characters.

Competitors will be judged on which one the voter most wishes was a romance option.

Rules for submission

Characters submitted MUST originate from a piece of media with romance options that can be chosen between by the player.

Characters submitted must NOT be a main romance option.

Characters who are not main romance options are eligible, even if they can have romantic moments with the player character. For example, Scout Harding from Dragon Age: Inquisition is eligible.

Characters who use relationship mechanics but whose dynamic with the player character can never be romantic are eligible, such as Krobus from Stardew Valley.

No contemporary real people or characters based on them.

Fictionalized versions of historical figures are allowed.

Use your best judgement on why you think a character should be romanceable.

for example, please don't submit characters who have a relevant age difference or are related to the player character.

Please only submit individual romances.

For example, The Entire Thieves Guild from Skyrim is not a valid submission. Please submit those characters individually instead.

Duos or small groups that would make sense to be a single romance option are fine, such as Orpheus and Eurydice from Hades as a single submission.

Submissions will run for two weeks, from August 3rd to August 17th.

In farming games with dating and marriage aspects we need more bachelors that aren’t just pretty boys. I like my pretty boys but I also appreciate the grown men bachelors. Harvest moon DS cute is a good example of a game not just having pretty boys as marriageable candidates. Hell my favorite of the Bachelors in that game is Marlin.
