Blinds Direct | Made-to-Measure Window Blinds
Blinds
Vertical blinds are stylish and elegant — from inside and out — and are highly functional. They offer privacy, shade and insulation and they create the effect of bigger windows. Due to the wide range of materials and finishes available, there is a vertical blind suited to practically any decor style — whether you’re transforming a modern loft apartment into the perfect bachelor pad, or creating a pretty and feminine family home.
Ascertain what sort of finished effect you want to achieve, as this will allow you to select the right style of Roman blinds. Metallic and vinyl blinds will complement a funky, sleek and modern style. Wooden and fabric blinds are better suited to more casual styles such as country cottage.
Take into account what the room you are decorating will be used for and where it is positioned, before purchasing blinds. In a sun room, fabric vertical blinds are useful for creating some shade and helping to prevent the room from getting too hot, while still allowing light to penetrate the room. In a baby’s nursery, however, wooden blinds may be more suitable for daytime naps, as they will block the light. In a loft apartment where privacy is not really an issue, super-sleek metallic blinds create a funky “frame” for the windows.
Add furniture to the room that complements the blinds. If you are keeping your existing furniture and have yet to purchase your vertical blinds, platinum shutter blinds choose blinds that complement the furniture. Wooden blinds will look out of place with modern black furniture, while metallic blinds will look out of place with antiques.
Combine different styles of blinds in a room with different sized windows. If vertical blinds are hanging at a set of French doors, for example; use Venetian or Roman blinds on the smaller windows.
Soften the overall feel of the room by fixing a decorative curtain pole draped with a soft, sheer fabric above the vertical blinds and day and night blinds. This sheer fabric does not have to work as a functional curtain; it simply disguises the hard lines of the window

Blinds Make Such A Great Window Covering
When you are choosing what type of blinds or window dressings you want to add to your home it needs to take into account not just the style of each room, but also what kind of privacy and light preference you have. You can choose day and night blinds, blockout blinds, thermacell blinds and more. Some are a lot more transparent to let in as much light as possible, and some are more about blocking light as completely as possible, or you might want something that falls somewhere between the two. You also need to consider how energy-efficient you want the blinds to be. Some like honeycomb or thermacell blinds are great for energy efficacy and can save you money.
Considering fabrics or materials
There are lots of different fabrics and materials that blinds might be made from, and what you choose depends on the type of blind like sunscreen blinds versus honeycomb blinds and what look you want. Using a more transparent material lets in the light and keeps a room feeling more breezy and open, but it does not keep out cold or hot air, it does not give privacy and it does not block the light. You can look at not just what the material is used in its making but also the percentage of what is used. As well as considering things like energy efficiency and transparency there are also things like whether it needs to be waterproof, or whether it needs to be fire retardant.
Consider being more eco-friendly
There are a few ways you can take this, in what they are made from, and in how they can help you save energy. Here are some examples.
1) Honeycomb or cellular blinds
With cellular shades, the shapes and layers are effective at rescuing the loss of cooled or heated air and prevents air from coming in from outside. It saves you money and is good for the environment.
2) Solar Shades
Great for windows that get a lot of direct sun they can help keep the room cool so reduce the need for air conditioning as the project from UV rays. This also protects your furniture and furnishings. Can be a part of day and night blinds.
3) Bamboo Shades
For a natural material that is environmentally friendly and grows quickly try bamboo. It can be even better for the environment than some wood. It grows 3 feet a day and does not need a lot of resources to thrive. It looks great but one thing to keep in mind is that being sourced mainly in Asia means its trade contributes to a lot of the world’s transportation emissions.
4) Recycled Shades
You could try making sure when you buy any kind of blind from sunscreen blinds to roller blinds that you make sure they are made from recycled materials. They are not yet a very common thing but they are out there.
5) Wooden Shades
Wood is organic and biodegradable when it reaches the end of its shelf life. Just try to choose ones where the companies support sustainability and are anti-deforestation.

it’s fucked up that some of kevin’s descriptors in-book by aftg narrators include words like unparalleled, brilliant, beautiful, disorienting and that riko thought kevin was smart and sharp-tongued and could see potential from a mile away and that every conversation at the winter banquet stopped as soon as kevin day walked into them. my brother you are a force of nature

IDK if I'm phrasing this correctly, but in my brain, Vasco is, like, the personification (caninification?) of an afternoon chilling on a back porch swing.
.
#ah#that's adorable#I can totally imagine him doing that#answered#anonymous#Vasco#to me he usually conjures the feeling of being warmed by sunlight#winters in northern Finland where I'm from tend to be pretty rough at least for me they are#they last about six months or so#sun starts to set earlier and earlier until it gets dark before 2 pm#in december the sun barely rises at all it's like this brief moment of twilight at noon between two 22+ hour nights#it gets harder to wake up in the morning and your energy levels plummet you go into battery saving mode#polar night messes up your brain seasonal depression gets really bad#and the cold and dark goes on and on and you feel like you'll never feel warm or happy or properly awake again#but eventually it starts to veer towards spring and on one day you notice that the sun is shining??!?!#not like bleakly and weakly but proper sunlight with warm hue and capability to actually warm the things it touches#you've forgotten what it looks like when it's truly light outside#and it's the craziest feeling to see bright natural light it blinds you and pierces right through into your very core#being kissed by the sun for the first time in months feels unreal it feels SO GOOD#I don't know it's probably not that big of a deal for people around me#but I personally react to things like changes in temperature and the amount of daylight pretty massively#I like to think that Vasco is a first ray of sunlight hitting you after you've spent what feels like an eternity in someplace cold and dark

This was sent to me yesterday (which I inadvertently forgot to include in this post) but that I thought merited discussion. A blind item from CDAN (screenshot below):
Tumblr media
The "Disney" mention in particular seems very pointed, given that Michael and David both were/currently are on vacations at two different Disney parks, and leaves little doubt as to who this is about. Also worth noting is that while the nature of CDAN is such that anyone can submit a blind item, this particular item was posted by Enty (the entertainment lawyer who runs the CDAN) himself.
I also think it's interesting that while there have been numerous BIs about Michael and David separately, this seems to be the first one I can recall that is about them together. I'd love to know what you all think, so please feel free to chime in in the comments...

the nina chimera thing is practically a meme by now and honestly i remembered not being particularly affected by it in mangahood. imagine my shock when fma 03 manages to make it a billion times more harrowing, simply by giving nina more screentime + letting ed slowly investigate and make his own conclusions re shou + nina being reduced to a splatter on the wall by a traumatized scar, leading to ed desperately trying to transmute her back and his hands being covered in her gore. and then roy comes in and essentially tells him, in the worst way possible, you are a child and this is nothing compared to what you will be asked to do as a dog of the military. you have sold your soul.

Day and night blinds, by their very nature look modern and contemporary. They not only look great but also allow you to control the amount of sunlight room.

Late night self indulgent drabble incoming. (Heavely inspired by @zoanluen 's Dance with the Dead AU)
************************************
The boy couldn't believe it actually worked. He thought he'd get caught for sure, but here was Theo, experiencing his first live-in concert, while practically hanging from the rafters of the ceiling. His tail wrapped tightly around the steel beam to keep his balance.
The show was everything he imagined it would be. The band members themselves were just as spectacular in person. The lead guitarist, energetic and as wild as his massive mane of hot pink hair, almost seemed on fire thanks to the spotlights. The pianist, hyper focused and mysterious, his blue skin giving him an ethereal glow on stage. And there's the drummer, keeping the beat in robotic sense that made it very clear how much they rehearsed for the act.
Their music was as enchanting as it was heart-pounding. Rhythms of a time, of a world, long dead and buried. A ghost that refused to be laid to rest. It stirred an unexplainable longing in Theo's chest. A fire wanting to take wing and burn the night sky until the stars are as bright as the sun itself.
Watching the performance, Theo’s eyes burned its ember glow. The Firebird desperately yearning to rise her song, and to dance with the dead....

Ok, I know it's totally random but I'm at a store right now trying different kinds of accessories and whenever I try to put a choker on I get this weird suffocating feeling like someone or something is wrapping their hands, something, around my neck and slowly pressing on my neck. ( it's a weird thing that I've had for a long time, even turtlenecks are a drag for me but not as bad as those kinds of necklaces )
And I just thought, what if Katsuki had the same feeling but with ties and that is why he doesn't wear them anymore/often ?
( if I remember correctly even his costume for the i-island arc didn't have one? )

Are there any companions you can't stand?
I wouldn't say I have any that I can't stand. Something that's so engaging to me about DA is that the companions have good, bad, and a lot in between. Honestly, I don't hate any of them. There are companions that I have more issues with than others, but I like them all; even, and sometimes especially, the ones that tend to be heavily hated on by the fandom.
The only companion that might fall into this category for me is Sebastian, but I totally acknowledge that I've yet to make an effort to use him when I play DA2. I legit just forget about him. How am I supposed to have a good grasp of his character when I don't engage with him outside of his companion quests? Plus I usually romance Anders so Sebastian always leaves my party in the end with threats of bringing an army down on Kirkwall for not killing Anders, soooo... yeah. Not the greatest impression he's left me with.
I would like to have a more well-rounded opinion of Sebastian because the concept of him is interesting; he's this chantry brother who is also a prince, but his family was murdered so he puts up a bounty on the chantry board [which admittedly is SO funny] and his companion quests are about avenging his family and helping him decide if he should take back his lands or remain a chantry brother. But then I talk to him, I listen to him talk to the other companions, and it's like... oh, the chantry has become his entire personality because the dude was brainwashed and now he's saying shit like the maker was actually the one who freed Fenris from slavery, and when Fenris tells him a story about how Denarius killed a child in a ritual for more power, Sebastian just doubles down that the maker has his reasons, like....babe, c'mon now.
I feel like I've read pieces about him written by fans who love him that are more compellingly written than he is, if that makes sense. Really, I would love to be educated by those who love him, especially Sebastian romancers because of all the love interests in all of DA, he's the one I look at and go, "....okay but why?" I have a lot of fun with character discussions and other perspectives so I mean that sincerely.
Also I think it's worth noting that when I play, I tend to get super into the roleplay of my warden/hawke/inquisitor, but while they have party members they can't stand, I have opinions that are separate from them, y'know?
For example, since I've talked about it a lot recently, my mage Hawke and Aveline butt heads constantly. By the end of Act 3, they're rivalry is heated and Ed's surprised Aveline even sided with him in the end because THAT is how much their relationship deteriorated over the course of the game... but then there's my warrior Hawke who adored Aveline. The two of them were best friends and Aris always gave her the benefit of the doubt, like she had Aveline's back through and through.
I've complained about Aveline a lot in my posts so it probably does sound like I can't stand her, but that's not true. Aveline's actually a companion that fascinates me, like she makes me go, "God, you're such an asshole, tell me more right now." and it drives me crazy how she and Carver are foils, like I love it so much, I could go on and on about how foiled they are, it makes me want to bite something.
It's very easy to look at Aveline and think she's just a bitch, she's a cop, she's a bad character, #Aveline-critical, bad companion, etc. I see it all the time, and not just with her, but with every companion in dragon age, y'know? I'm not saying that's wrong or anything; some characters just don't vibe with you or you have legit reasons for hating them and that's fine. I'm just saying some of it's very surface level unless you make the effort to elaborate.
If you don't like a character, you're less likely to make an effort to understand or see anything positive about them. You're more likely to have confirmation bias, so whenever they do or say anything, you go looking for the worst interpretation. I try not to do this just because for me, that's the "boring" approach to games like this but as we've seen, I'm not immune either... y'know, Sebastian.
But Carver gets this a lot, too, and I think I've made myself clear that Carver is my favorite, I love him, the Hawke twins are S-tier companions and I would throw everyone in Kirkwall into the ocean if it meant Bethany and Carver's happiness.
Now that I'm thinking about it, the characters a lot of fans can't stand are some of my favorites?
Like a lot of people shit on Sera, and I'm like "Nah, that's my girl! Listen, she's got a LOT of internalized issues, but we're working through them okay! She's getting better!"
And Vivienne? Oh, don't get me started on Vivienne, I have a whole deal about her. She's also an asshole and I love her.
My canon inquisitor is Surana who escaped the circle and joined the dalish, becoming Lavellan. Vivienne is a reflection of what Ash could've been if she hadn't run away with Jowan. She played the game of the circle, she stepped wherever she needed to step because Ash knew she was at a disadvantage by being an elf, for one, and for two, not coming from a family with wealth that would give her special privileges. Her downfall was buying into her own hype and believing she couldn't be wrong about Jowan, believing that she could either prevent them from making him tranquil or help him and Lily run away, and believing she was above punishment because she worked her way into being Irving's favorite. Yet it all bit her in the ass and she had to run… so then years later after living outside of the circle and realizing just what the chantry is, how it conditions and abuses mages and shit, she meets Vivienne who also played the game well and came out on top, who now spouts the same shit Ash used to spout and it's makes their dynamic sooo chewable.
Then there's Cullen who's not a companion but I lump him and Josephine in with the companions anyway. They're advisors, they're in the inner circle, they count.
He's such a spineless ass in DA2 like believe me, I get all the criticisms he gets... but he's also fairly polite to Hawke even if they're openly anti-templar, he's softer spoken, and he's unwell after what happened to him in DAO and Meredith's clearly taking advantage of his state... but then he becomes an advisor in DAI who is so done with people's bullshit and blatantly honest about it, like he looks at Chancellor Roderick like "this fucking guy again" and he's so ready to just go for it, y'know? Well... unless you're a pretty lady who bats her eyes at him, then suddenly he doesn't know how words work. Like sometimes I feel crazy because I find him to be so funny in DAI, and overall a compelling character that I enjoy interacting with even when he's being a total asshole. Yeah, there's issues in his writing but I appreciate the vision the writers were going for, even if they stumbled... except for Sheryl Chee, I don't appreciate her contribution of those few posts on the DA forums that everyone uses as a smoking gun to "prove" awful things about him. Nothing gets under my skin more in character discussions than bad faith arguments and there's so much of that when it comes to Cullen.
Actually, while we're on that, can I just add a note that when I first got into this fandom, I saw someone's post about Chee doing an interview where she said all those bad things about Cullen wanting to assault the mage warden and I was like, "What? An interview? What interview?? Where??" and I couldn't find shit until much later when I read another anti-Cullen post that cited a DA forum as the source for her saying those things... so not an interview. I went digging for the forum, went into the way back machine to find it.... only to discover that this smoking gun comes from a fanfiction forum where Mary Kirby was also talking about Sten and catgirls and y'all expect me to take that seriously?
We can have discussions about whether or not Cullen's a bad person or a bad character, but the moment you bring Sheryl Chee into it, I know you're here in bad faith and your argument is void.
Sorry for the tangent and the long answer but this is the stuff I enjoy. I could talk about the characters of DA for ages unprompted that when someone does throw me a bone, I will discuss and gush about them all.
#asks#dragon age#dao#da2#dai#sebastian vael#aveline vallen#carver hawke#dai sera#cullen rutherford#vivienne de fer#i have to stop myself before i go on tangents about morrigan and wynne and anders and isabela and merrill and dorian and varric and-#literally everyone sksksks i can't help it#also on the flip side of this type of discussion i also love looking at characters that most people adore and discussing their flaws#like i love alistair he's my favorite companion in dao BUT it's easy to forgot that he can be just as petty and selfish too y'know?#if you don't execute loghain he can straight up just abandon you and leave and you'll find him in da2 as a drunk like... babe really left#and let you deal with the blight because he was so blinded by revenge and thirst for loghain's death and that's not great??#not really something that gets brought up because it's unflattering it's an ugly part of his character but it's there mingling with the goo#and if you have a good relationship with him but don't know how he'll react when you spare loghain that can be devastating too#but it's also super understandable WHY he reacts like that WHY he leaves even if it's a selfish move on his part and hurts you#i dunno i think sometimes we're scared to talk about the ugly parts of our favorite characters because we love them#and don't want them to be wrong especially in fandom with a lot of pissing matches and bad faith arguments y'know?#i dunno this is my spiel of the night: i love all my companions except sebastian who is just a character that exists to me#i wasn't joking when i said i'd like to be enlighted about sebby and his romance like....... explain elaborate educate
