As an avid Hannigram fan since– shit, 7 years now??? What??? Insane.

Anyways, as an avid Hannigram fan, I was so surprised to see the amount of hate Dazaku gets as a ship. Mind you, I'm a deeply devoted sskk fan, no doubt about that, and an even more passionate Dazai hater—

But considering the amount of shit I've seen in my life, they're not bad??? At all???

Firstly, their age difference is 2 years. Two. Considering I survived tumbler during sebaciel times, I can guarantee you, it's a great thing to have.

Secondly, Akutagawa would forgive him any day of the week, and Dazai obviously gives at least a single fuck about him, considering how satisfied he was when Akutagawa stopped killing. He even dropped Atsushi on his lap like, "Hey, here you go, this is your new emotional support stuffed tiger now." Not to mention, Akutagawa is a pretty important step towards Dazai's journey to being good?? Like, I imagine at some point they'll have at least a moment where they address the elephant in the space between them.

Thirdly, and I cannot stress this enough, as I was just rewatching Mizumono, neither of them is a cannibal. Which is a convoluted statement translating my thoughts of "y'all have no fucking clue what toxicity really is, Hannibal tried to saw Will's *head* open—"

Anyways.

Ships aren't necessarily meant to be 100% healthy and sane and non-toxic. And even so, if y'all can throw around headcanons of "oh, Mori SA-ed Dazai" and "Mori trained Dazai like how Dazai trained Akutagawa" in order to somehow justify Dazai's shitty personality, then it shouldn't be that hard to imagine a scenario where Dazai fixes his issues with Akutagawa because, like so many insist, he's a better person now.

Akutagawa Gin like chuuya-san, he took her brother under his wing when dazai-san left them, he will bring her either lemon water or natural water with a towel and a bento box rich in proteine when he went to visit Verlaine-shishō while he was training her , he would share music with them and would make them foods and invite them to eat at her home with higuchi he was accomplice in her project to have her brother eat more and he wouldn't hesitate to use his executive privilege.

While he could be grumpy about it and trie to hide it , he care about them both but he isn't overwhelming about it .

She was also grateful for dazai-san and while she didn't dislike him and if asked could even admit to liking him but unlike chuuya-san, she can't say that she approved of him , a part of her have never forgiven him how he treated her brother, even if like chuuya-san say he had his reason for that but this was her brother the most important person in her life and she had to learn how to treat his wound because he refused to see a doctor for the wound that dazai-san make him , even if it wasn't good for his already weakened health because he refused to have dazai-san learn about what he called his weakness.

Her brother idoloze him but still even after he left to join the " light" leaving behind the ones that he brought into the " dark" he still Haven't apologized to her brother.

The worst in all that is that he's her brother first love not that he ever stopped liking him , a part of him would always love dazai-san no matter what but he started to move on with chuuya-san both found love and healing with each others.

She was so happy for her brother for both of them really , the two of them were close but none of them crossed the line then dazai-san came back and it was like he never left.

She said nothing, she only watched and bid her time, she didn't know how to though about shin soukoku at first especially because her brother was hurt because of the difference in how dazai-san treat them which she doesn't like but she was grateful for how he helped her brother who was doing better thanks to him ( and a part of her was grateful for how he helped kyouka.)

But while she patiently waited for dazai-san to make a move on chuuya-san ( or on anyone else, she always noticed his chemistry with chuuya-san like her brother he was his first love and she though that dazai-san loved him back but she could be wrong) but when he never did , she decided to make her move but what really convinced her was the event with the decay of the angel her brother she nearly lost her brother at least he and tachihara we're healed which she was thankful for brams -san and the agency doctor but it make her realize even more how precious time was .

It's why with help from others like kouyou-san and Verlaine-shishō she tried to set them up they are happy together and It's good for them both , she's really glad but dazai-san quickly caught on which didn't surprise her he have always been possessive of chuuya-san,but she realized while he desperately tried to stop this budding romance, that it wasn't just childish possessiveness, he was truly in love with chuuya-san.

When her brother realized it too she knew that he expected chuuya-san to take him back and that he would be left alone by the two peoples that he ever loved but to everyone surprise chuuya-san make it clear that he won't ever leave her brother, it was either he try with him or he won't have him.

While she can't say that she's happy about this development, she could see how happy her brother is to finally have a chance with dazai-san and dazai-san really try his hardest to make it up to her brother, she helped them make research on polyamory and she can see that this new relationship make all of them happy.

And she love the opportunity to take photos of this trio while they cuddle together, she let out a soft smile, eyes bright, she's really proud of her brother

i get excited when posts discussing dazaku lead with “hate people who hate dazai becsyse he abused akutagawa” and then just taper off into literal nonsense.

someone said that to me and delved into how it was because mori probably called dazai’s ability useless that dazai called akutagawa’s useless, and i was like ..???????? that’s missing the point even more than people who hate dazai for what he did (which is, notwithstanding, a valid thing to do)

the thing is, mori hasn’t canonically ever physically, verbally, or sexually abused dazai. he abused dazai in the way one abuses an object—by using it in a way it’s not meant to be used (although dazai did flourish professionally in the mafia, it clearly wasn’t good for his mental health). there’s literally no evidence nor even suggestion that dazai treated akutagawa the way mori treated him. if anything, it just speaks to how being in a violent and pressuring environment makes one violent and pressuring.

it’s just so funny how people can believe the same thing for such different reasons.
