What is the Theater AU?

A fic currently in the works which takes canon Sun & Moon and plays with the concept of them being theater bots before being transferred (unwillingly) to the daycare! Half of the story revolves around when they were theater bots, and the other half is about the daycare. The drawing above is Sun when he was a theater bot! Sun in the daycare looks very close to canon in design with a few different details. And by theater, I mean they had some very cool acts. Moon has my favorite performance in the story so far.

Is there a y/n for the Theater AU?

No, you follow along the story of a nonbinary oc named Roy who dabbles in software engineering. You can, however, imagine that Roy is the pizzaplex’s nickname for y/n and pretend as such! Either way is fine by me, but the fic will be tagged as oc insert.

Have you written any chapters/made any art for the Theater AU yet?

Very few, but that’s only because I have to wait until summer to flesh it out properly. I do, however, have many bullet points for the storyline written down already as well as a couple of snippets and have a very good idea of how I want the fic to play out.

What kind of personality does Roy have?

Roy is a very down-to-earth, analytical, logic-oriented type of person. Roy has a lot of patience and I think Sun sometimes needs that kind of patience because of his jitteriness and overall bouncy personality. They’ve known the boys for a while and always took an interest in the way they work. They might even be the reason Roy went into software development and specialized in AI.

Can I use your art/writing for AI?

Absolutely not. That is not what AI should be used for. Thank you for your cooperation.

How technical will the fic be?

I want to mix my own experience as a computer scientist into the story a little while also making the explanations easy enough for anyone to enjoy and maybe find their own technical passion out of it. I will still mention some fun comp sci technical jargon for the purpose of enunciating Roy’s professionalism. On the robotics side, my own experience lacks, but I will try my best to get as accurate as I can by studying the canon boys.

Does Roy get to smooch the boys?

I’m still debating this, honestly! Maybe in some sequel story or side-comics, but the main fic is meant to focus on the characterization of Sun & Moon, so we’ll see. The boys can’t move their faces similarly to canon, but they would happily accept a smooch on the cheek.

Who do you like more, Sun or Moon?

Oh boy, I love them both! Moon is very scary and I’d never go back to that level in security breach if I can avoid it, but he makes for such a funky character full of potential storytelling. Sun is definitely my favorite of the two though. When I tell friends about a fic I’ve recently read from any of the fantastic DCA stories, I always ramble about how Sun’s character was written whether it was sunhinged, emotionally haunting, or absolutely sweet! When I played Help Wanted 2 I was overjoyed by his character. He deserves to be a little sassy sometimes, as a treat. It is no different in the Theater AU; he has his sassy and sweet moments.

Moon’s design I am still working on, so keep an eye out for him!! Also let me know if you take an interest in my boys by asking questions about them! It helps me find their personalities better and inspires me to do more. Thanks for reading!

This is so stupid, I love it

This is my brother’s DCA AU, Honk I’m on a StarRail!

My brother isn’t into DCA or fan fiction in general, but I talk to him about the DCA a lot. I told him about the unique-ness of this fandom, that there seems to be an AU for everything. He listed off a bunch of things he thought would be odd or specific and I was able to name a bunch of stories based off of the prompts he came up with. Then, he hit me with:

“Is there a Thomas the Tank engine AU?”

I thought about it for a while, and I hadn’t seen one.

So he made this image in like 2 minutes:

We joked about it some and I told him he needed to give his AU a name. We went back and forth a bit because the DCA AU names always seemed so official to me, so it was important that he got his AU name right. He threw out "Honk I’m on a StarRail" and I lost it. I think I laughed for a solid 2 minutes. He argued that it was stupid but I thought it was perfect!

I thought the idea had ended there but once I went to bed he started working on official image for his AU. He sent this 3 hours later:

He used font that resembles the Honkai StarRail font, then edited it to be closer to the official thing:

He made his own Eclipse OC!

Then he started on Sun and Moon. He made a simple train model to get the proportions and angle right:

The whole time he is sending me updates and I'm filling him in on lore and what he should add.

He even came up with the Y/N's nickname when I was having a bad day.

We of course had to add moons hat

We almost forgot about the ribbons, but we got there in the end. They were hard to place because...train.

Overall, 10/10 experience! I'm glad I get to show other people his hard work.

Hi there! Question about the SK boys, I know you said neither are romantically inclined, but would either be open to becoming friends with a human over time? Like someone who just enjoys spending time with them as a platonic companion. Or would they still consider that too risky?

They wouldn’t mind befriending some humans! They just have to be very selective and careful about which ones. Neither of the two can risk anyone getting too close or involved in their personal lives.

But they’re happy to befriend as many children as they can!

I finished itttttt. An interpretation of the sad scene from Chapter 6 @valeintime's "What to do when your selkie roommates won't move out". It looks less dramatic in the middle of an (😣 v story-inaccurate) open concept house. Regardless, I'm happy w how Sun n Moon came out! 💚

How would the alien boys react to a squishy human baby. Like if y/n was doing a favor for a local & watching their kid for a hot minute.

Fascinated and endlessly curious. Nebuterran babies are similarly squishy so that's not really strange to them. There are other similarities, both sleep a lot for example but nebuterran babies are overal quieter in comparison. They don't really make a lot of noise (crying) unless something is really wrong.

So a fussy human baby would probably set off the alarm bells and make them worry that it's a response to danger, while in reality the baby would probably just be fussy over something really minor.

They'd both like holding it and carrying it around though and I think a human baby would really enjoy that because nebuterrans run a little warmer than humans do, they have a higher internal temperature... so they're really comfy to snuggle against :D
