thinking on how the jjk anime realizes gege’s art in a way b/w serialization doesn’t, ultimately (imo) elevating it w a lot of movement, color depth & inspired combat sequence animation (tbf also yassifying certain aspects but I’m not about 2 complain)
vs how the mha anime washes out the immense detail & supple line work that goes into hori’s art on the page, ultimately making the animated end product appear less impactful & a lot flatter than the serialized og

catching up on tybw and man
coloring & art direction is stunning also in cour 2. studio pierrot cooked and ate, no notes. rly does kubo’s art 100% justice. also the animation—a few clunky parts maybe, but overall idk where the criticism comes from. music is hit/miss, like always w this series it’s either one of the best OSTs of all time, or completely forgettable
but man
this storytelling is just……….. mid
it’s rushed and messy and introduces a whole cast that just….. doesn’t carry itself w impact. HOW have I never seen this before
I’ve always considered tybw good—some parts I’ve considered really, really great. but watching the adaptation now……. I’m skipping thru battles every episode bc they’re just uninteresting; only a handful tybw-exclusive characters are worth the watch, no matter how Peak the adaptation looks.
this is nothing against the anime, btw; it’s fantastic. a lot of fleshing out was sorely needed for the overall arc (& for general life reasons; we see u and we love u, shinji’s bankai) I’m damn happy we got this now, and not as part of the og anime. it’s criticizing the og story
whelp. I guess it was just my time
rip bleach ride-or-die & kubo glazer ddelline 2008-2024 (on & off, but still) u were a valiant defender of the 2nd midest arc (fullbringer takes the cake, no one wanted that) of one of the greatest mangas oat
