I love food. Big fan of food. am I consistently and constantly hungry. Food is the best thing. Wow. Can’t believe I live on a planet where I can eat and taste. I can bring food for my friends. I can slice it in half. I can make an ugly bacon egg sandwich just for me. I can reheat food. I can melt cheese on chips. I can give my friends the black licorice jelly beans. I can give my cat a tiny piece of chicken from my bowl. I can cook food. I can season grilled foods spicy in separate batches for my friends with a low spice tolerance. Wow. You can eat . you should eat. I love a burger.

Whether you called this Hae Bee Hiam Roll (虾米卷) or mini prawn roll, they are equally addictive to snack on. They are filled with minced hae bee (dried shrimps) cooked with a variety of spices and individually hand rolled before deep-frying in oil. The mini rolls are super crispy with a spicy umami dried shrimps filling. They are available all year round in Singapore but just seems to taste that much better during Chinese New Year. :D Shown on the right is Vegan Prawn Rolls so everyone can still share the joy of snacking on it.

Garlic Lovers Day
Garlic Lovers Day is dedicated to lovers of garlic. Garlic is an onionlike plant that is highly aromatic and has a distinct flavor. It is native to Central Asia and Northeastern Iran, and has long been used as a seasoning and for medicine in Asia, Africa, and in Europe around the Mediterranean Sea. It was used in ancient China, Rome, and Greece, and in the Americas wild garlic was eaten before Europeans arrived. In the United States it was only popular near the Gulf of Mexico and in ethnic neighborhoods in large cities, until the mid-20th century, when its popularity spread.
Garlic is used on breads, and infused in oils that season vegetables, meats, and pastas. It is also used in making things such as bruschetta and pesto. It was used to treat gangrene during World War I and II, and studies have been done to see how it affects cardiovascular health, cancer, and the common cold, but results have been inconclusive. Most garlic is grown overseas, and 90% of the domestic crop is grown in California. There are many types of garlic, most of which are varieties of hardneck or softneck garlic.
How to Observe Garlic Lovers Day
Celebrate the day by making a recipe that includes garlic, or picking up a garlic cookbook. You could also make some garlic infused olive oil. In many areas this is also a good time of year to plant garlic, as it should be done before the fall frost.

I am sure you have tried fried Taro Puff (芋角) at one of your favourite dim sum (点心) place. Cantonese called this yam puff/dumpling "wu gok" or “woo kok”. It is a deep fried dumpling made with mashed taro and stuffed with diced mushrooms, shrimp and pork though the ones I am having doesn’t seem to contain shrimp in it. Anyway, if you are interested in how it is made, I have attached a how-to video.
