How Delhi Police Led Mexico Operation To Arrest Most-Wanted Gangster

Deepak Boxer was the head of the Gogi gang, a position he assumed after Jitendra Gogi was murdered in 2021.

New Delhi: Deepak Boxer, one of Delhi's most-wanted gangsters, has been arrested in Mexico and will be brought to India later this week. A special Delhi Police team caught Boxer in Mexico with the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

"The gangster will be brought to India in a day or two. He is among the most wanted gangsters of Delhi-NCR, who fled the country on a fake passport," said an officer.

This is the first time that Delhi Police has arrested a gangster outside India.

Deepak Boxer was on the run since he murdered a realtor in August 2022. The builder, Amit Gupta, was shot several times on a busy road in Delhi's Civil Lines area.

In a Facebook post, Boxer claimed that Gupta was murdered by him and that the motive for the murder was not extortion at all, but revenge.

He also claimed that the realtor was associated with a rival gang, Tillu Tajpuria gang. He said that Amit Gupta was the financier of that gang.

Deepak Boxer was the head of the Gogi gang, a position he assumed after Jitendra Gogi was murdered in 2021.

Police say that Boxer used a fake passport to leave the country. He took a flight to Mexico on January 29 from Kolkata under the alias Ravi Antil.

Police had announced a reward of ₹ 3 lakh on Deepak Boxer.

Delhi: 26-year-old inmate at Tihar jail dies by suicide

An inmate at Delhi’s Tihar jail died by suicide on Monday hours after he was convicted by a court in a robbery case, reported the Hindustan Times. The man, 26-year-old Jawed, was found hanging in a bathroom in the jail. “As per the security officials, Jawed hanged himself from a tap in the bathroom with the help of a cloth at 5 pm at the common toilet area of the enclosure for mulahiza inmates ,” Director General (Prisons), Sanjay Baniwal told the newspaper. Earlier in the day, Jawed was convicted by an additional sessions judge in a 2016 robbery case registered at Delhi’s Malviya Nagar police station. “He was reportedly crying after coming from the court,” an unidentified jail official told the Hindustan Times. “Later in the evening, he went to the bathroom, where he hanged himself with a very thick cord, made by twisting together several thinner clothes. Nobody could notice it as toilets and bathrooms are not covered under CCTV surveillance in Tihar.” A judicial inquiry has been initiated into the incident, reported the Hindustan Times. Tillu Tajpuriya murder: Seven personnel of Tamil Nadu Special Police suspended

NEW DELHI: Seven personnel of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP), who was on duty at a Tihar prison cell when gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was stabbed to death, have been suspended and will be sent back to Tamil Nadu for allegedly standing as mute spectators at the time of the incident, jail officials said on Sunday.

The development comes days after Director General of Delhi Prisons Sanjay Beniwal wrote to the Tamil Nadu Police asking them to take action against its personnel.

A meeting was also conducted with officials of the TNSP regarding the alleged negligence on part of their personnel during which they had assured to take departmental action against their personnel, a jail official had said.

“The Tamil Nadu Police has now suspended seven of its personnel and called them back,” a jail official said.

The TNSP personnel were deployed at cell number eight where the incident took place, the officials said. The TNSP provides security on the Tihar jail premises.

A CCTV video from Tihar Jail which emerged on social media purportedly showed Tajpuriya being attacked in front of security personnel as well when they were carrying him away after he was stabbed.

Tajpuriya was assaulted with improvised weapons allegedly by four members of the Gogi gang inside the high-security prison on Tuesday morning.

But he was still alive and was being carried away by the prison security personnel when the accused attacked him for a second time, according to the footage.

In the footage, it appeared that the security personnel remained mute spectators while the assailants kept attacking the gangster.
