They'd done a decent amount of work the past six months, managing to mostly rebuild three towns. Though, between Yang's natural strength, and Ilia insisting she make up for what she'd done, it wasn't that surprising. Demons helping people instead of hurting them, it's hilarious, something Yang never would have believed. They're currently in Kuroyuri, it had been left to ash, the frames of structures weak, ready to fall if the wind so much as blew wrong. That's where Yang started, you can't live in a town if there's nothing to live in after all. Blake and Ilia are currently on their way to where the survivors had taken refuge, to explain the situation, see if there was anyone who could help rebuild this world that was destroyed. That Yang had destroyed.
Last chapter of the demon hunter au is up! It's been a ride, so thank y'all for sticking around for it!

Vio and Shadow with "9) an empty book, cobwebs, a storm"
"What are you even expecting to find here?" Shadow asks for the millionth time.
He's lounging on the arm of a sheet-covered couch, sneering at the state of the room with disdain. He seems especially wary of the cobwebs covering nearly every inch of the walls, casting veiled shadows on the wall every time lightning flashes outside.
"I'm looking for what I'm always looking for." Vio sighs, adjusting his grip on the flashlight. He doesn't have to finish the thought- Shadow is only asking to be a nuisance. They both know what he's here to find.
A demon.
Rule number one of demon hunting: keep your ears to the rumor mill. Strange disappearances, abnormal behavior, warped amalgamations and violent murders are all early warning signs of demonic activity. Vio tries to stay on top of it all before too much damage can be done.
The less casualties, the better.
The rumor was that this house is haunted. Just from the state of it, Vio might have been inclined to agree- but there were too many signs to the contrary.
Stupid teenagers who thought it'd be fun to break in suddenly pulling a 180 on their personality.
Sweet kids turning cruel and malicious.
Bullies becoming nervous wrecks.
A highschool student with no behavior problems prior to entering and leaving the place got ahold of a knife and stabbed three other students before being subdued.
It's not hard to connect the dots.
Lightning flashes outside again, thunder rumbling the walls. A rat scurries across the floor. Vio notes how it seems unchanged.
"Whatever it is, it has no interest in animals." He says, mostly to himself. "It must need a humanoid host to possess."
He hears Shadow scoff from behind him. "Amazing detective work there, Sherlock. You've solved the mystery! Can we go home now?"
Vio clicks the flashlight off, pursing his lips at Shadow. "No, we cannot." He wrinkles his nose at him. "Your commentary is both unnecessary and unwelcome."
Shadow's eyes glow in the dark, casting his face in red. He sneers at Vio. "Oh? I thought you needed my help with all of this. Is our contract null and void? Vi-o-let?"
Vio can feel his eyebrow twitching. "It is not. I haven't completed my task. Therefore, you are still in my service." He puts his hands on his hips, staring him down. "Now, do you actually have anything useful to say? Or shall we move on?"
Shadow hisses, baring his unnaturally sharp teeth.
"I hate you."
"The feeling is mutual."
"It's not the house itself."
Vio raises his eyebrows.
Shadow huffs, crossing his arms. "The house isn't the demon. And there's nothing indicating that it has a physical form, or this place and everything in it- and probably for a few miles around- would be fucked to shit."
"Yes, I agree, Holmes." Vio can't help but smirk at the jab.
"Oh, fuck you!" Shadow throws his hands up. Vio can't help but note how his gaze flicks to the cobwebs in the room. "You asked me to be helpful, and that's my thanks?"
"You called me Sherlock." Vio shrugs, turning and moving to the next room. "Ergo, you are Holmes."
Shadow grumbles behind him, calling him a few choice insults in demonic as Vio walks into a dusty, trashed library. Oh, it breaks his heart to see such a place reduced to this. He observes a quick moment of silence before clicking his flashlight on and walking in.
The damage looks recent. What once was a handsome desk has caved in through the middle, likely from a body- or several- crashing into it. Rain splashes through a broken window, dripping water onto the floor and soaking into some of the books. The smell of mold and mildew is decadent in the worst possible way.
Something shiny catches his eye: a school ID card. He recognizes the photo on it as the student stabber.
"What a dump." Shadow grumbles. "Ugh, and there's more cobwebs. What the fuck is up with Hyrule and cobwebs?"
"Do you notice anything strange?" Vio asks.
"Uh, yeah. I think I see some bofa right there in the corner."
Vio rolls his eyes. "I'm aware of the joke. You will not catch me off guard yet."
Shadow curses him out in demonic some more, and lightning crashes outside, lighting up the room again. Vio spots the book then.
Inconspicuous, except it is the only book in the room not molded, waterlogged, torn to shreds, or too faded to read.
Vio gets an ill feeling in his stomach.
Rule number two of hunting demons: make sure you know what the demon is before you find it. An addendum to rule number two: expect the unexpected.
"Do you know of demons who inhabit books?" He asks Shadow, debating whether to reach for his knife or for the salt.
"I know demons who trade in books." Shadow scoffs. "Forbidden knowledge and all that jazz. I don't know of demons who hide in books, or who are books. That would be such a shitty form to take- who even does that?"
"You're asking me?" Vio tosses him the flashlight, and Shadow curses as he fumbles the catch. "Hold this."
He approaches it, muscles tensed and poised. The ill feeling only gets worse. The book is the demon- or holds the demon, maybe? Either way, he's sure of it. He nudges the book with his shoe.
No reaction.
He flips the cover open. The book slumps open, a conspicuous breeze flipping the pages rapidly and throwing more rain through the window. Vio takes a step back, hackles raising.
The light of his flashlight falls on his own face, captured in photo realistic detail on one of the pages.
"Motherfucker." He curses.
Ink lifts from the page, surging towards him, oozing black ichor reaching for his face, a face, his face, staring at him, eyes red bared grin teeth teeth teeth and he doesn't have time to grab his salt when he's suddenly on his back, fighting for his life. He pushes it back with all of his strength, kicks at any sensitive spot he might be able to reach but it's impossible to tell in the dark and his hands and foot sink into the ichor and it laughs a haunted house animatronic laugh that would be comical if it weren't coming from the death in his face.
"Shadow!" He shouts, because his demonic partner is just sitting and watching, amused.
Shadow just tsks at him. "My, my, seems you're in over your head, Sherlock."
"Do something!" Vio hisses, jerking to the side as the face-stealer lunges, it's dripping false face smashing into the floorboards inches from Vio's head.
"Hm. . .is that how we ask people for favors?" Shadow's teeth glint as lightning flashes, thunder shaking the walls.
Vio can feel his strength sapping away. He can feel himself being pulled into the demon's body. It lifts its face, his face, from the floorboards, looming over him.
Shadow leaves him no choice.
"Darkness within the Hero's Soul, I order you: protect me now!"
Vio's inverted triforce brand glows purple, and Shadow's gleam red in return, and everything happens very fast. The face stealer lunges, but Shadow is there, an eldritch mass of shadows and limbs and teeth, ripping into the demon and tearing him from Vio's body.
If Vio weren't used to seeing true demons, he'd be terrified. Shadow is the movement out of the corner of your eye, the darkness in your closet, the bogeyman under the bed. A waking nightmare, the visions at the end of your bed during sleep paralysis. Inky ichor is useless against his shifting roiling form, but he has no problem sinking his multiple maws into the face stealer.
"Close the book!" He shouts at Vio, snapping him from his reverie. It's all Vio needs to roll under their snapping and howling fight, grabbing the old tome and forcing it shut, dropping his weight on it as the demon is dragged back towards it. He pulls the knife from his cargo pants, its wicked gleam flashing, and plunges it through the cover.
Hellfire explodes from the book. Shadows slide over him like a second skin, protecting him from the unholy heat. The face stealer howls in its death throes, thrashing screaming roaring as he shoves the knife in deeper.
His ears ring as it finishes. The book crumbles to dust.
The rain outside seems to ease up.
"Well, isn't this intimate." Shadow purrs, his voice startlingly close to Vio's ear.
"Get off!" Vio jerks, ripping at the shadows still covering his skin. "Ugh!"
Shadow coalesces behind him, laughing. Vio has half a mind to throw salt at him.
"Oh man, your heart started beating so hard! Creepy haunted houses and face stealing demons don't phase you at all, but oh, intimacy, the horror!"
Vio stands up, brushes himself off, and glares at him, and then he smirks.
"You just rolled into a spiderweb." He informs him.
The satisfaction he gets from Shadow's undignified scream might be a little sick, but considering all the bullshit he just went through?
Worth it.

Honestly demon sun has a pretty sick design! I love the red cape (scarf? Idk wtf to call it I’m no fashionista) and the white horns look cool!
Auaaaaa thank u! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Honestly no idea about the cape/scarf/whatever... If I was more creative I'd be able to think of lore for it but meh, sometimes you just need a cool scarf/cape thing to incite fear in the masses

Hey, i have a poll for the Demon AU!
Its about Technus. His whole gig is technology, but that is quite scarce in medieval times. So, are we giving him something different? I think its neccesary, and personally i think he could have a bug theme!
Tumblr media
He already has a spider form, he can still make on the web puns, and we dont have a bug themed villain yet. Plus, this gives another character a new look.
Tumblr media
Valerie's second armor could look like an exo-skeleton, with wings and the like. Her first armor from Vlad would be more knight-like, but this one would be bug themed. What do you think? Let me know!

@panthera-tigris-venenata and @tiredflowercrown asked for this so here’s an explanation of my demon hunter au!
the basic idea is, when beast brought together all the fairytale worlds, it didn’t just bring villains back from the dead. it brought back demons that had been previously killed or locked away (many of whom were villains anyway, but the point here is they’re stronger). having so many powerful demons/sorcerers/whatever (chernabog, the horned king, zhan tiri, chatana, and maybe maleficent i haven’t decided which version of her i want to use are the biggest threats, but then there’s the other villains, many of whom are still magic) throws all magic into wack, meaning it’s stronger, wilder, and there’s practically no barrier between the natural world and the otherworlds.
this leads to the creation of the king’s guard, a special order meant to take down the demon lords. initially, many of the more magical kingdoms (avalor, camelot, kumandra, corona, etc.) that are threatened by them ally with beast to trap/kill them. they end up trapping them on the isle, built off neverland. it was meant just for demon lords and their allies, the biggest threats, not the villains that yeah, are magic, or dangerous, but they’re not near gods in power (like, the evil queen is a threat, but still human, so she doesn’t necessarily need to be on the isle, for example, charmington can deal with her just fine). but to make the isle, beast had to trap and kill plenty of innocent people, many of whom were magic, which is a thing i like to call foreshadowing.
after the demon lords are locked up, beast turns on all magic users and creatures. in his mind, all magic is dangerous, and has the potential to be just like the demons they just locked up. and well, locking up the demons didn’t really calm magic or make demons vanish, so really, he’s just finishing the job, right?
all the magic kingdoms that had previously allied with beast split, formed their own alliance known as just the rebellion or the guild. leaders include elena, phoebus, jasmine, ariel, repunzel, raya, and arthur. if their kingdom is highly magical, chances are at least some of their people joined.
they fight, and slowly, beast slowly forces the rebellion to surrender. most of his success comes from having some very fanatical people on his side, mainly: frollo. i wasn’t going to make it a religious persecution type story, but the idea of frollo working for beast but so does phoebus and the dynamics that brings basically wrote itself so here we are.
anyway, most of the rebel kingdoms are forced to surrender with heavy consequences to them, one constant being sending most of their magic users to the isle (many of whom are characters we consider villains anyway for consistency of why they’re there). the only ones that are allowed to stay are those who either hide and escape the hunts, or who join the kings guard, now the only organization allowed to use magic.
when the rebellion is successfully defeated, frollo is sent to the isle to ensure it remains so. many on the isle helped build it, they know best how to take it down. i’m not sure if those on the isle will maintain any contact with those off the isle, but either way there’s still very much so a war happening on the isle.
which is the situation the villains kids are born into. there are three alliances they can be born to: the king’s guard (many human villains like gaston ally with frollo. they were thrown on the isle because if magic users are criminals, what’s to say criminals aren’t magic users?), the demon lords, or the rebellion. many drift to the rebellion eventually.
no matter where the kids are born, they’re brought up for war. the king’s guard trains within themselves, usually parents teaching kids. a few are sent to auradon to train, but never kids of major prisoners, always kids of guards that were stationed there. they send kids into war at 16 at the youngest, legally, but on the isle some kids are sent in even younger (either because they’re prodigies, or because they’re hated, like gil, and their families are hoping they’ll die in action). they hoard any supplies sent to the isle, and they kill indiscriminately. to them, their job won’t be done, and the world won’t be stable again, until everyone the isle is dead. not many kids end up leaving.
most kids born to demon lords are raised to bring an era of darkness to the world, to amass as much power as they can. many of the magical villains who weren’t rebels are allied with them (evil queen, Jafar, etc). they’re isolated, usually, but not always. this how many, like jay, are able to leave (in jay’s case, he wandered into rebel territory and ran into the 40 thieves, who adopted him on the spot). it’s brutal, and most don’t have a choice in what they do. they’re the ones most often killed by their parents. they’re usually some of the most powerful magic uses on the isle, too. many kids from this group escape eventually, and join the rebels.
the rebels are a majority of the isle. not many of them actually fight, but plenty of magic users were sent to the isle unfairly and are under their protection. like the kids in the other groups, they’re raised for war, but it’s much more a community effort than and isolated thing. the schools, dragon hall, serpent prep, and the witch academy are run by their gangs and are very military focused. they send kids into the field at 15, but that’s a recent rule and many of the older kids have been fighting much longer by necessity. the rebels is the alliance many of the canon gangs fall into. those who ran from the other alliances often fight, but only after they’ve proven their allegiance.
there are villains who don’t really fall into any group, like hook, and other never land pirates, who were just vibing before everything happened, or the de vils who just wanted to run a crime empire why are they in the middle of a war now.
in auradon, things are only slightly better. they’re not necessarily in a total war, but the isle if anything made the demon issue worse. the prep is a school meant to train king’s guard knights, and the former rebel kingdoms are forced to send their royal kids there to keep an eye on them and keep the kingdom in line. kids who aren’t royal are allowed to attend, but even they have king’s guards in their family. they start training officially (but many have trained longer at home) at 14 and ends at 18-20. (the reason 16 is the legal fighting age for frollo’s men is because at 16 trainees — squires, as they’re called — begin going on hunts with senior students) the reason they can afford sending people into the field when they’re older is because they have more people, and can afford the wait for more soldiers. the isle doesn’t have that luxury.
magic users are hunted and executed regularly. some are still sent to the isle, but beast finds just killing them is quicker. they focus more on killing witches than demons, or figuring out and ending the source of the issue, believing if they just kill all witches then the world will right itself. therefore, many illegal hunting groups formed, who hunt demons (and often still witches) instead of the organization meant to do that.
so what’s the plot? ben still gets kids off the isle. how? well, his argument is that they’re sent into the field before they’re legally old enough (by auradon standards) and therefore the rebels are committing war crimes and the kids shouldn’t be there. it’s flimsy, and the kids who he chooses to come over are all rebels, but it’s on purpose.
growing up, ben is mentored by phoebus, captain of the kings guard in order to protect the romani (in paris at least) for as long as he can. beast intended it to be a “see what happens when you rebel” type thing, but instead phoebus adopted another son and made sure he knew exactly how horrible his father is.
so ben brings kids over, knowing and hoping they’ll bring their rebellion with them. and also, because of the fighting on the isle, the barrier has been slowly eroding, and many of the remaining rebels in auradon are starting to think that’s the issue.

Forgot to mention; Will in the demon hunter au is about 20-22 years while Anthony is 19-21 years
Will is a Gemini while Anthony is still an Aquarius
When you share your irl zodiac sign with one of the best blondes in fiction ever-
Also, idk why I assumed Anthony would be the one a year older than Will, for some reason. Then again, Anthony being younger makes sense to me lol.

"You aren't stealthy, but I am." Blake says, eyes intense, "You draw the gaze, maybe make them think Neo killed me or something, I can sneak by." "So take the brunt while you slip in unnoticed..." Yang mutters, it's not a terrible idea, but she doesn't want Blake out of her sight. "That's seriously dangerous..." There's this little grin on Blake's lips, barely there, "What's life without a little danger?" "A long one." Yang offers with a sigh, Blake's stuck in this, she's dug her teeth in it, there's no way they're getting out of it now. "Fine, but don't do anything stupid, we still need you to get the last artifact." She jokes weakly. "Same goes to you, don't be an idiot, don't let anything go to your head." Really it's unfair how gentle her voice is after everything she's put Blake through. "Yeah. Wait till I get their attention." Yang says, rising to her feet, walking around the bit of rubble, "See you on the other side Blake." She doesn't look back, doesn't wait for an answer, just bounds off into chaos.
Next chapter of the demon hunter au is finally up! Hope y'all enjoy!
