The main reason why I smash Fomortiis is really simple - it's because of his official art appearance in Fire Emblem Heroes. I wasn't actually expecting him to appear as the Mythic Hero representing from The Sacred Stones; and the art just really impressed me because it's not human - it's a dragon-like demon giving evil, fallen vibes and it seems like the artist (Daisuke Izuka) has given his all in drawing the Demon King. I actually have never played The Sacred Stones, and thought that he would be human but when I saw the trailer with him and Gotoh, I was like, "WHOA IS THAT AN ACTUAL DRAGON COMING TO HEROES?!" He really coloured me impressed out of all of the Mythic Heroes artworks so far.

Also it's a shame that he's not really that good anymore, since the new and most updated units are insanely OP 😔

Okay, real talk, I know that I like a lot of cute things, but genuinely, if I could bring a cosplay of Fomortiis to life someday, I’d be over the moon to share it. And I don’t mean some namby pamby ghost version of Fire Emblem’s Demon King, I mean the hulking beast!

This is the kind of Demon King that will make everyone run for their lives because A, he ain’t allergic to the sun, B, wisteria does nothing to him, and C, I know some Demon Slayer characters are on the power lever of some of the Fire Emblem series’ protagonists, but they’re gonna need a lot more than just setting their hearts ablaze and the power of friendship, THEY’LL NEED PRAYERS TO NOT DIE TO THIS GUY!

Side note: Fomortiis is voiced by Mark Whitten, and that’s primarily why I wanna cosplay Fomortiis someday.

Sure! I'll write for both and you'll see why.

Fomortiis

-The demon king himself never imagined that he would be at another's mercy, let alone the mercy of a child.

-However, he plays along. What good would it do him to rattle his cage before the time is right? He'd much rather play the role of your protector for now.

-He finds it much more difficult to tempt you seeing as simple things like offering you sweets or playing with you are things anyone can do.

-Instead he will just bide his time waiting for you to grow up. He will seem trustworthy until the day comes where he can properly drown you in despair as he did for Lyon.

Fallen!Lyon

-Though he puts on airs, he desires to protect you from himself.

-He might seem cruel or mean for pushing you away, but its for the best. Though you might find an unmarked present in your room if he makes you cry really hard.

-If Fomortiis ever fully took over, no one would know there was a change so he continues to play the villain far from anyone.

-He is careful not to let anyone else like him get close to you either. Your safety comes first. Even if that means you hate him for his rudeness and cruelty.

Novala in english says he'll replace Riev at "their master's side", does the Japanese version specify if he's talking about Fado and Lyon or Fomortiis the Demon King?

I wish I could say I had noticed that detail, but I didn't. But I did go and find a playthrough on Youtube (some t-max retro game person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rmDamsPcW4&list=PL4JxhkcouWAJcnmvRJkBmhTHHAuESYmeu&index=7) because once the question was in my head, I had to know.

He says, 「ルネス王女を捕らえたあかつきにはわしも貴様らと同格、、、後でせいぜい悔しがるが良いわ！」 So he's saying that after capturing Eirika, he'll be at the same level as "you guys" which from context means Riev and the other generals. And then he says something like "I hope you regret later!" He doesn't specify the object of regret, but I think we can assume he's hoping that Riev will regret treating him like an unimportant nobody later.

He doesn't actually mention "replacing" Riev, or any sort of "master". He seems to feel that achieving the "same status/rank" as Riev is good enough revenge, which makes him a bit less greedy than the English version.

manakete lyon??? I'm interested

ALRIGHT so I used to have 3 major AUs involving Lyon and Manakete stuff: - Lyon becomes a manakete bad timeline AU - Lyon becomes a manakete good timeline AU - Lyon is human but befriends a manakete and becomes a good emperor

Details under the cut because there's a lot

Lyon becomes a manakete bad timeline AU:

Eirika and Ephraim fail to stop Fomortiis, but manage to destroy the remnants of his body, so he's forced to keep possessing Lyon's body instead and slowly transforms his body in hope to regain his old powers. Magvel descends into a new Dark Age, half of its royalty died during that first fight against the Demon-King (I forgot who exactly die in this AU but at least Eirika and Ephraim, one of the Frelia siblings, and a bunch of the other playable characters). Seth, the last Frelia sibling and L'Arachel become the spearhead of the human coalition, but the fight won't end with their generation (I think at some point I vaguely started a FE8 gen 2 with Seth's daughter as the lord/leader?).

Knoll decides to risk everything for his prince and sides with the Demon-King in hopes to bring Lyon back. Because Lyon still is trapped in his body, under the Demon-King's soul. And trying to transform a human body into something actually usable is exhausting for Fomortiis, so sometimes his consciousness fades just enough for Lyon to barely reach, and though he can't talk, he's receptive to Knoll's magic attempts. Those rare moments keep Knoll going even though he has become a traitor to mankind, especially in the eyes of those he fought with during the Tragedy (Seth especially wants him dead because Ephraim trusted Knoll and Knoll betrayed that trust by siding with the Demon-King), and the awful things the Demon-King forces him to do to stay at his side.

Lyon becomes a manakete good timeline AU:

Remember that time Lyon tried to get his hands on Myrrh's dragonstone? Well, this time he manages to secure one, and Myrrh's help, and together they figure out a way to use the dragonstone's power to bind Fomortiis' power. But they can't figure out a way to remove the Demon-King from Lyon's body, so to replace the Dark Stone he shattered, Lyon becomes the new Fire Emblem, a living prison for the Demon-King. The dragonstone is implanted in his chest and helps him keep Fomortiis under control, but harboring his soul + being bound to a dragonstone turns Lyon into a manakete himself.

Deciding he can't live with humans anymore, Lyon hands over his throne and his people to Ephraim and Eirika and leaves with Myrrh and Knoll. The twins keep in contact with them and visit them whenever they can, and even though Lyon was reluctant at first, he eventually acknowledges he's grateful for their friendship despite what he's done.

Lyon is human but befriends a manakete and becomes a good emperor

Not a manakete Lyon AU exactly but I still love this one so I'm gonna share it anyway.

Myrrh wasn't the only manakete who sensed the darkness approaching and tried to reach the Dark Stone before something bad happens. That other manakete reaches Lyon before the Dark Stone is broken and the Demon-King released, and warns him before the damage is done. The two of them become strange friends and it helps Lyon immensely to have a friend constantly nearby and not held by duties and family in another kingdom, as weird as a dragon friend may be.

When Vigarde dies, Lyon doesn't utterly crumble thanks to this support, and when he is crowned emperor himself, he becomes known for always having at his side a strange mysterious advisor few people have ever seen the face of, and for riding the most beautiful wyvern in all of Magvel (rare are the ones who know it's actually a transformed manakete). He becomes known as the Dragon Emperor, a wise and powerful mage, brings prosperity to the Empire and surpasses even his father in the history books, ending up being compared to Grado himself.
