i’m a dreamer, but i’m from nowhere, who am i to dream?
AO3
lone·li·ness
(noun)
1. sadness because one has no friends or company.
2. (of a place) the quality of being unfrequented and remote; isolation.
Debbie has always been alone.
She was a lonely child, no mother, practically no father, no friends, no money, no nothing. Just a bunch of siblings who never favored her.
She tried to fill the gaping hole that this loneliness had created in her heart. She read books, made artwork, earned money, flirted with boys, had sex, and eventually, got pregnant. No matter how many things she had tried to do to distract herself from the loneliness, it was still there. Maybe when she had sex, for a second, the feeling of dread and sorrow in the bottom of her stomach would leave, but it always returned. Nothing and nobody in her life ever returned but her loneliness.
She’s always wanted to be a mother; she thought that once she had a baby, she would never feel alone.
That has been proven to be incorrect.
She’s currently lying in a hospital bed, her baby, Frances, next to her in the bassinet the hospital gave her, but she’s still lonely. Nurses have been coming into the room frequently to check on Debbie and the baby, mostly the baby. She had a lactation come in and she managed to get Franny to latch and eat.
She’s a mother now. She shouldn’t feel alone.
Frances is beautiful. Her eyes are blue, resembling her grandfathers, who she was named after (who also had just happened to leave Debbie. In fact, he left when she was in labor), and her hair is bright red, resembling her mother and uncle. She looks nothing like Derek. It’s bittersweet.
She hasn’t had any visitors yet. Granted, it’s only been a couple of hours, but still. She refused to let Fiona come as Fiona had been voicing her opinions about Debbie’s pregnancy for months, but a part of Debbie still wants Fiona to come. She wants to show Fiona how Franny eats, and she wants to prove that she can really be a mother.
Can she be a mother?
What is a mother?
Debbie’s not stupid. She was always the top of her class, she’s always known everything and she’s always been prepared for everything. With motherhood, she had just assumed that she knew everything. She assumed that she’d get the hang of it and that she’s had enough practice with Liam and with her daycare experience.
For the first time in her life, Debbie feels clueless, lost, and young. She’s still young, she turned fifteen a week ago. She spent so much time yearning for adulthood and for a mother that she has only just now realized that she missed out on childhood completely. Maybe being “mature for her age” and an “adult in a child’s body” wasn’t a good thing.
When she had first held Franny in her arms, she felt a connection. Of course, there was a connection. Franny had literally been connected to her for nine months, Franny grew inside of her, Franny was, in a way, Debbie. Even if she now yearns for childhood and company, she would never leave this baby. She could have never aborted this baby.
It would take Franny doing something really horrible for Debbie ro leave. But even then, she wouldn't. In fifteen years, when Franny is Debbie’s age now, she could get pregnant and Debbie would still love her.
So why doesn’t Fiona still love Debbie? Why did Monica leave Debbie? To an extent, Debbie understands Fiona was a mother purely because of circumstance, but she was still a mother. Had Fiona felt that connection with Lip, Ian, Carl, or Liam? Had Monica? Had everybody else connected, but was Debbie the black sheep?
She considers asking the doctor to do some sort of neurological examination on her brain. She wants to know if maybe she has some sort of rare disease that makes her so off-putting. Maybe there’s some wires in her brain that don’t quite work right, so she can’t form a connection with anybody. There has to be something there. She’s clearly the problem, but maybe that can be fixed. Maybe she can get some sort of confirmation about why everybody leaves.
Her phone is on the table next to her bed and Franny’s bed. She reaches over and grabs it, and without thinking, she calls Fiona.
The number rings and rings, until eventually,
“Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice messaging syst-”
She hangs up and slams her phone down irritated, and that makes the baby wake up and cry.
Debbie sighs, sitting up (which is much more painful than she had anticipated, because of her age, the damn doctors refused to give her the good drugs) and grabbing her daughter. She cradles her in her arm and shushes her. No matter what she says or does to try to end the cries, the baby ignores her. Wow. She’s known her for only a few hours and already the effect that Debbie seems to have on people has rubbed off on her.
She’s never felt more alone.

My breakdown and my thoughts on the ending of Bittersweet Chapter 3. (PART 2)
Ok so we get the story so far, Jessie kills Derek and takes his spot. And once the trio gets there I bet 100% she was not expecting it. You can just tell by how she wasn't too eager to turn around, even when Seth was demanding it.
"It's just ketchup, Seth! I promise!"
I just love the look of pure relief Seth is giving knowing that his mom is ok, to the sudden horror of knowing what she did.
And tbh I think she did this not only to get revenge on Derek for hurting her son, but maybe her thoughts were.
'If I get rid of the person tormenting my son and who he loves, maybe he can forgive me for what I did to him.'
Idk and I have no idea what is gonna happen to Jesse. Either she's staying there or going back with the boys cause she's on the run or something.
But I doubt she's on the run because she has Auron in her corner, but if she does go back with the trio then it could allow more time for her and Seth to try and fix their bond.
Then if she does go, it might be hard cause of Auron. Cause he said that Jesse can do a better job then half of his goons singlehandedly.
And this is what I mean when I said that Auron probably tortured him.
HE FUCKING JESUS HIS HANDS TO THE DESK. When I first saw Derek's dead body nailed to the desk, it made me scared of Auron.
I think Mark got off easy.
Then we have Finn and when I saw him in the back I was like 'Why the fuck are you here bro!?
And you can just tell that Finn doesn't like Auron just by the look he's giving him.
Then you can see the shock of 'Oh shit!' When he spots the book.
Speaking of
MY MOUTH DROPPED TO THE FLOOR.
Derek knows about Finn and the other world. And my only conclusion was that when he died and then got resuscitated.
Once he died he saw Finn and the power he had over this world. Or Finn saw what happened to Derek and decided to give him another chance by turning back the clock.
From what I gathered from Derek was that he is a man obsessed with power and enjoyed having control over other people.
So by seeing Finn and all the power he has over this world, we can understand why he talks so much about death and power.
Thus leading to my questions on Finn.
I can go on about Finn and I know that within time (HA) we will get more answers about his world and his powers.
But I can't help but wonder why is he in Bittersweet and Why is he so obsessed with the trio.
My guess and this guess may sound crazy, but what if Finn's predecessor was Alphonse and not Faust as we have all been theorizing? To me, that would only make sense why he's obsessed.
But again idk.
Then we have this last shot of Auron looking into his reflection. Seeing the man he has become and broken away from the dreamer self that he was.
The ending gave me an eerie feeling because of the clique feeling of being watched when there's no one there, and the sound of the glass creaking and giving away.
Also, the cracks of the glass remind me of the crack marks of the Promo we got when Chapter 3 was about to start.
Then we have Shattered
Which I'm pretty sure will be mostly about Auron and his story. I'm pretty excited for shattered because hopefully, we'll get more backstory with Auron and why he is like he is.
Tbh Auron reminds me of Gus Fring from breaking bad.
Anyhoo, I'm ready for 2023 and excited for the next chapter of Bittersweet and the Beginning of Shattered.

Casey's identity crisis in season 3/4 never really ended, on a rewatch.
When Nora and George got married, she went from being the perfect daughter and sister to someone who, try as she might, could not get along with her stepbrother and who didn't feel like she fit in with this new dynamic in her family.
Derek, Edwin and Marti had their dynamic figured out for years; Derek was in charge, Edwin did whatever he said, Marti was the light of Derek's life. She got whatever she wanted because Derek can't say no to Marti and George can't say no to Derek.
Lizzie and Casey's dynamic was somewhat tumultuous at times, but through it all they loved each other. Liz stood up for herself when Casey would try to make her do things once they moved in, which spoke to her dynamic with Edwin forming and them defending each other.
Lizzie formed a good relationship with Edwin instantly, because they were able to deal with having two insanely competitive, needing to be in charge siblings boss them around and needing a minute to just breathe sometimes. They both felt like forgotten middle children and had a good dynamic because of that.
Edwin liked Casey at first, but he didn't really show it because that would mean standing up to Derek. He was never outright rude to her, but he was never outright on her side until season 2; not that Casey saw at least. They eventually got close, but it was not something she could lean on at first.
Marti is a whole other story; we see Marti basically accepts Casey, Lizzie and Nora in her life as family the second the show starts. She, however, is normally on Derek's side of debates, being his biggest fan. Casey seems content in their relationship from season 3 on, but before that, we can see how she feels a bit of insecurity in her relationship with Marti.
And then there's Derek, who infuriates her and who she loves beating and who has made her feel more than anyone else has ever even come close to. Derek, who she can't see as family for some reason, but who she knows she should.
It shows in her relationships as well; Casey dates Sam because he's cute and sweet. She turns into a bubbly, perky girl next door for him. When they break up, we see Casey grappling with the fact she's not sure how to act anymore; her and Sam are over and her next date is with a guy who's dating four other girls.
Then she dates Max, who turns her into a party attending cheerleader who's at the top of the school popularity chart and internalizes a lot of her emotions. They only come out at home or away from Max because he's shown to not handle her emotions well. Casey's intense and he makes her feel like too much (she tells him she's got to do something for her mom instead of going to a party with him and Max flips on her; she has to leave a date because Derek is being, well, Derek and she's got to watch the kids and he sort of guilt trips her about it; she wants to protect Derek and he makes her feel like she's having too big of a reaction, etc) which leads her to becoming the perfect girl for him. She's smart, pretty and at the top of the social ladder, placating football bros and going to parties. No longer does Casey do things that she loves, like writing poetry and grade grubbing.
They break up and Casey has another identity crisis; who is she without Max? She doesn't know who she's supposed to be when she's not the prom queen, when she's just Casey.
Truman is an interesting case because we see him manipulate Casey and that's exactly what it's framed as. She hates him, she loves him, she turns into some rebel who's okay with him kissing her cousin and who lies to everyone in her life because of him. They're broken up in Vacation with Derek and we don't really see him mentioned again, nor do we see this side of her.
Jesse is boring, a dancer and a dreamer at her grandmother's lodge who's probably exactly what Casey thought she wanted at 19. She becomes this artistic free spirit for him, someone who considers going to New York and dropping uni for the chance to dance professionally. This obviously doesn't work out and we don't see her trying to be an artistic free spirit again.
And then there's Peter. Fucking Peter. We don't know much about their dynamic when he's around, but we do know he's not around for half the year, breaks promises to Casey and the kids and plays hockey in Europe for some reason. Luca goes missing (twice!) and gets arrested once, but Peter isn't even mentioned to get a text? There's a fucking police helicopter searching for him; his own father doesn't notice it's happening? Peter makes all of Casey's anxieties and worst traits amplified because he's not there. He makes her this stressed, barely holding her family together version of herself that we've never seen before.
Every time these things happen, the only person who helps her snap out of it is Derek. He rolls his eyes at her identity crisis and definitely thinks she's going insane, but every time, he's there to help her put the pieces back together. Sam and Casey break up for good? Better make sure none of the guys in school mess with her during her healing time by having her wear his shirt! Casey's upset because she doesn't recognize herself anymore due to Max's influence? Time to give her a pep talk and support her through her freak out! Truman kissed her cousin? Drop his facade that he hates Casey to yell at him, telling him, basically, to fuck off and taking care of Casey because she's crying over this douche! Jesse tries whisking her away to New York? Well. He'll try being supportive. But it'll probably fail. Peter isn't home and Casey's on the verge of a mental breakdown? Time to make sure she takes care of herself by watching the kids and accepting a decent amount of responsibility!
