The fact that most desi kids will agree that bua is the worst relative of all. I don't think this is a this era problem.
We can trace it back to the Satya Yug see... Even Pralhad had same issues. His bua tried to set him on fire.

the relatives who once used to say after seeing the little kid that "she'll become a great artist, her drawings are amazing"
those same relatives today ask " science nahi liya beta? number kam aye the kya?"
what a bloody hypocrite.
I mean, why the fuck do they make the kids dream about things which they won't be approved of later?
stupid ass relatives.

have grown up in a household where most of the chores were done on the weekend that now when I'm living away from home, I can't take one unproductive weekend without being bored out of my mind

Me, a sapphic, watching DesiQuest ep2: Lol, my boi Luis Carazo has chemistry with everyone. That guy has pure Energy That Fucks™️. I’m not into dudes but damn
Also me: uhm… and i mean this with the utmost respect and don’t mean to be inappropriate at all, but Jasmine is…. *blushes and whispers* … very pretty as well as funny and super talented as a GM

Please note this is from an Indian who grew in America. Some of these things may not apply to you.
To multilingual parents,
I’m begging you, do not speak to your child in English/whatever the official language is in your country. They will learn that learn that language literally everywhere else. You are their best shot at learning their mother tongue.
My parents stopped speaking to me in Urdu when I was child. My Urdu is now so bad that I cannot call myself bilingual. It’s so bad that I feel ashamed whenever I have to speak it in front of someone who is fluent. It’s so bad that I could not speak my own grandmother because my Urdu simply wasn’t good enough and by the time her English was, we were just awkward relatives. I don’t even remember the last time I spoke to her.
You are your child’s only chance their mother tongue. They’re not going to be able to learn it elsewhere. The Spanish classes in America suck, and those language learning classes can only do so much. Speaking to your child in their mother tongue is the fastest, easiest, and best way to make sure your child has at least some connection to their mother tongue.
And it’s not just the benefits of being bilingual that this is about. It’s about making sure your child can communicate with their relatives. It’s about making sure they don’t lose their culture. And if your child can speak their mother tongue, your grandkids at least have a chance.

When mom doesn't help me with relatives when they're degrading me. I start to offend them. And here's how it literally went!
Relatives: "Tumhari Umar me hamari shaadi hogyi thi"
Me: Ha kyuki aapke parents strict the, makeup allowed ni tha to love marriage kaise hoga? 😆Right mom?
Relatives: "Ladkiyo ko itna nhi bolna chahiye."
Me: Aap to bol rhe ho? 😀😃
Relatives: "kyu shaadi to karni padegi, sab karte hai. Hume bhi KARNI PADI THI"
Me: Nahi man nhi hai.......and aapke paas options nhi the mere paas options hai😃😄
Relatives: *Repeats* "Hume dekho humne bhi ki thi"
Me: Aap logo ko dekh ke hi to or man nhi karta......
*Mom calls. I leave take my tea cup, headphones and disappears on terrace*

Eid Mubarak!! I'm sorry if I'm late, my community started celebrating it a little later than others >_< (shaytaan is begging the ummah to make up their mind on when eid is so he knows when he can come out lol) I really hope you have a beautiful eid with your family ❤ eat lots of biryani, nihari, gulab jamun and ras malai🤌 and please stay safe! InShaAllah may your Ramadan have been accepted and may you be rewarded with the highest of rewards ♥ 🤗
(Pffft, omg, I never thought about it that way, hahaha)
Eid Mubarak, Anon ✨✨🎉🎊🎉🎊 (I’m probably late, too, considering how long ago this was sent in, but) I hope you are having/have had a great time celebrating, and, InshaAllah, your Ramadan and deeds have also been accepted!!
I had a wonderful time yesterday ^^ Ahhh, nihari sounds soooo good rn… my family typically makes it once during Ramadan, but alas, there wasn’t any then nor at the party… InshaAllah, next year (and, well, sometime soon, too, because please).
Still a great time, though, ofc, ofc, haha (I managed to get the cards done! …At the expense of getting to the party an hour late, oops, but was worth it, haha). It’s funny, though—it was such an effort keeping awake at night this Ramadan, but the day it’s over, I get around an hour of sleep (in batches), and I didn’t feel tired in the least bit during the party/afterwards. Like, I’m usually pretty introverted even when it comes to just family get-togethers, but I wasn’t at all tired of social interaction when I left (though, we did play several rounds of an argument-based board game just before I left, and I do love me my debates, haha. Have late night discussions for a reason—energizes me right up). My arms and back did, however, end up somehow feeling pretty sore that night and this morning (which I do wonder if that’s where the lack of sleep contributed?).
But, yeah, had a good time this Eid, Alhamdulillah ^^ Hope you do/did, too <3
