Imagine; Dean realizes that he’s in love with Castiel.
“Why does this sound like a goodbye?” Dean says, eyes squinting in confusion. He has a hand gripping Castiel’s trench coat, and he doesn’t plan on letting go anytime soon. “Because it is-“ The Angel looks down at where the man is holding him like if to say that it was time to let go.
“No! No! I’m not letting you go- Why are you saying goodbye Cas?” Dean shouts over the loud banging, he can feel the walls close in on him. A rough push makes him drop the hold on Castiel. He desperately crawls towards him, hands trying to grasp at anything he can reach. He needs him to stay, wants him to stay. Where is Cas going with this?
Dean stares with wide eyes, tears daring to fall. He won’t let himself cry. Castiel is still alive, he’s here, he’s fine. He will be fine. He refuses to start mourning someone he hasn’t loss. “I love you, Dean” The Angel puts out in the air, the door flings open, and that’s when he knows their time is up. What he doesn’t expect is the empty to emerge from the wall, and that’s when it all makes sense.
Castiel’s confession triggered happiness. Castiel’s moments lead to the empty being summoned by demand. By his own bleeding words that he poured to Dean. He revealed himself, the Winchester did nothing. He was frozen , knees on the ground, hands at his side. Dean’s fingernails had started to scratch at the floor, punches followed.
Words circled his head, hurt drowned his heart, his burning desire to repeat the words that were said to him.
Supernatural was so so so so so funny in how they were like: "Dean is such a ladies man, only boobs boobs boobs" and then they would give him a love interest in season 6 and never again.
BUT they'd have him make Cas a mixtape.
And grieve Cas like a heartbroken widower.
And then have him be happy for the first time all season once Cas returns to him (even though his mother'd still be missing).
And they'd have Dean stop with the hook-ups completely. And instead they'd have Dean make Cas watch movies together.
And have date nights.
And they'd have Dean on his knees confessing.
And the last person who'd confess his love to Dean would be a gay angel.
But Supernatural was so so so so so funny they'd be like: this means nothing.
"will lokius go canon this season?" thats the not the question here. It's marvel. I know they won't. But i want to see just how close they will get to it. How much will they get away with? How much of the story they want to tell will make it through?
