he is slightly taken aback when you don't reciprocate his feelings. he tends to understand and interpret things wrongly- i mean, especially coming from humans. he wasn't expecting this, it also is understandably new to him as well. there just may have been a surprise like mentioned, he was a little saddened because when he feels, he feels strongly. but he doesn't actually find himself to really be all that upset about it soon after and understanding you better.

if anything, malleus would be quite content and satisfied if you didn't let his initial feelings get in the way of that. he would find himself just wanting you okay and you to be happy- even if that doesn't mean it's with him in a romantic sense. you've genuinely showed him and treated him with such kindness he thinks you deserve nothing but that as well. he will continue to be with you, even if its platonically.

lilia vanrouge

he never really confessed to you, because he already had some sense of understanding that you'll never reciprocate those feelings. lilia is observant-- so even if you don't mention it to him, he easily picks up on your feelings and generally who you are. never seemed to bring it up though, he only keeps note. now, lilia has lived for several hundred years, he's experienced many kinds of feelings, heartbreaks, and such- so though he does love hard at times he has learned to not take it completely to heart.

lilia would still continue to watch over you and cherish you as a friend and that only. though yes, his feelings may linger in him for a while, he is well aware that the emotions will pass... eventually. it doesn't stop him from hanging out with you, popping up randomly and surprising you at school to talk with you, inviting you to diasomnia for tea. he'll never erase the current relationship the two of you have over his own feelings, you're too dear to him.

he is conflicted, when he first realizes that he is starting to fall for you, it hits him like a brick. he doesn't know how to handle these emotions since he's never had much of the opportunity to experience them. you're his friend, who he can't help but feel enamored by. silver always seem to have this troubled look on his face more and more as time goes on. he notices that you probably wouldn't feel the same way, it wasn't until you offhandedly mention something about it him in conversation. you two are close, so it felt natural to.

it was then he fully understood, so he never confessed to you. he would silently nod and listen as you talked. he keeps it to himself- even if he can't be with you like that, he wants to be by your side still. you're a good soul and he'll seem to never shake off the feelings of protectiveness over someone like you. he's more than willing to stay by you, even as a friend.

sebek zigvolt

when it comes to sebek dealing with his growing feelings for you, you either can tell it from a mile away or think he hates you from his mixed signals. when he confesses to you, its abrupt and loud out of his own nervousness, that eventually turns into uncharacteristically quiet and quieter. when you deny his feelings, he doesn't understand, only because at first, he interpreted it as you genuinely not liking who he is. that is until you begin to carefully explain why not.

sebek just like the rest of diasomnia, will still want some sort of friendship with you. though, it does take him a while to go through the feelings of rejection and handling these things- he doesn't want to let you go. he is a knight; he always has a sense of dedication.

LILIA and you both got along quite well with your teasing and a hint of manipulation in your personalities. It’s quite the mix but you two like to tease sebek together, he has the most interesting reactions!

On a personal thought Lilia find your ability similar to prefect rosehearts. “Fufu, you’re quite the mischievous one aren’t you?” Sometimes you both go on little pranks and surprise people around the corner.

So imagine when there was a overbolt for Leona as an example and once you get close enough to touch him BOOM ability activated and everyone’s safe. Sometimes you both share information about each others World and lilia finds himself wanting to travel again because of you.

SEBEK can’t find it in himself to take your playful personality seriously, not like anyone could anyways. However, there was this one time he had pissed you off more than intended and that slick yet scary smile you gave him just put off red alarms in his head.

He was a second too late to get into a defensive stance before you switched up and gave him a normal smile right after kindly asking him not to piss you off again. (He didn’t think it was possible)

As for your ability, he finds it fitting for someone of your nature . So sometimes when he’s about to overdo it on the magic and try to outdo someone in class you pop up and shut it right off. He’s grateful since most of those times he’s with his first year gang and you’re there to stop any possible tragedies.

SILVER first impression of you is his “fathers new bestie” which could be a bit bad to him but nonetheless if you have lilia and malleus’s trust we good. Sometimes he just..leans on you taking a nap while you could be having a full ass conversation with someone.

Imagine talking to ace about his homework along with yuu and then silver just..comes behind you and puts his head on your shoulder mumbling something about how he’s tired.

MALLEUS realized you were distant towards him and careful, I mean of course you had the right to be. From what you gathered he was the most powerful person on campus and even possibly outside of campus, yet you still found it in yourself to befriend the dragon foe.

He was happy that you even decided to interact with him, you were a bit scared yes but it didn’t matter!

You’re a trouble maker and somehow manage to drag him into it as well, just like you and lilia. He likes your ability because it’s pretty. Malleus Draconia

Can’t drive. It’s a mix of not being tech-savvy, and not having the need. He’s the future king, he logistically has no need to drive. Also it never turns out well when he tries.

Will stare out the window in silence, pondering; be it gargoyle design and history, what Lilia, Silver and Sebek are doing, to a future invitation. In short, he daydreams.

He also does not see the appeal of modern vehicles. Horse-drawn carriages have worked stupendously for ages. And then there’s also magic. Humans are odd creatures for inventing such things.

Only so many people who work for him are able to drive, so his options are rather limited… but he knows better than to have Lilia be his driver; his only real safe option is Sebek.

Did take public transit once, out of curiosity. It becomes a ritual of his to take it once a week for the full route just to people-watch. He saw Azul one time, Kalim the other time chatting to a man with a saxophone, and he could have sworn he saw Idia sulking in the corner.

Lilia Vanrouge

He doesn’t have a license, and he really shouldn’t drive, but he does. He is THE speed demon, putting Epel to shame [I am speed]. Do not get in the car with Lilia under any circumstance.

He blasts a deafening mix of screamo, bagpipes, tavern music, and ‘Throw Back Thursdays’. You can hear him coming before you even see him. An absolute madman, but a great racer.

Takes phone calls all the time and has almost crashed on several occasions; don’t be like Lilia.

Before his car somehow disappeared during the night, he had it decked out to the nines; bumper stickers, a small army of bobble heads on the dash and back, fuzzy dice on the rear view mirror. His car also had a few dents from some scrapes he went through.

He has to stick to horse drawn carriages and teleportation now since there seems to be a ban on him at every dealership. But they are no where near as fun as taking good old Mim out for a spin, yes he named his car. Again, I question how Silver survived his childhood.

Silver

He decides against driving due to his sleeping condition, and doesn’t want to put others in danger due to it. 

He sticks mainly to his horse, brooms, and joins Malleus along his weekly public transit adventures. He enjoys the bonding time he and his horse have, and provides as an outlet to reflect. Whereas he joins Malleus on transit due to safety reasons, and also as added bonding time without Sebek.

Speaking of the bus, he has noticed a few others every now and then; Azul looking flustered next to a screaming toddler. Kalim with some saxophone person. And Idia sulking and trying to disappear in on himself. Wait, where did Malleus go?

He NEVER gets in the car with Lilia, EVER; thank Sevens he only acquired the car when he started attending NRC and he only had it for about a year before it “disappeared”.

He encourages Sebek with his driving lessons, and also acts as a moderator since the only people willing to teach him are humans. Overall, he isn’t bothered that he doesn’t drive, and is confident in his decision.

Sebek Zigvolt

Defensive driver, heavy on the breaks and goes below the speed limit. Looks at Lilia as a clear bad example, so he has to resort to taking lessons from Trey, who was kind enough to offer, and his dad. He’s the only hope for Diasomnia.

He refuses to listen to anything while driving, as it is a distraction and he can’t tolerate distractions. Probably would have the radio removed from the car if he were able to.

His phone is on silent, the only notifications he gets are from his emergency contacts; Malleus, Lilia, and his mother. Each one has a different ringtone so he knows who is calling.

Insists that there be no decorations. The only thing that is remotely personal is a novelty gargoyle air freshener Malleus had gifted him from one of his outings. Otherwise it looks like it came straight from the dealership.

Has road irritation and will shout about how people shouldn’t be on the road. He only gets proper road rage when Malleus is in the car. Do you know who you endangered with your tactless driving, human?! DO YOU?!

Diasomnia Headcanons

There are hardly any microwaves in Diasomnia. The last few microwaves are a secret amenity that Lilia and Malleus aren’t allowed to know about.

How they became a secret is a story involving Lilia and Malleus

Basically Lilia and Malleus were eating a late night snack and wanted to warm it up, but didn’t take out the silverware before putting it into the microwave.

*Cue microwave exploding and the Diasomnia students standing outside while Lilia and Sebek race to find the extinguisher*

Yuu had to explain to Malleus that metal does not go in the microwave.

He gets a whole entire kitchen safety book from Yuu

Lilia is banned from the kitchen. But not only because he’s a bad cook.

Lilia’s banned because he stuck a fork into the toaster to get his bagel out. He electrocuted 10 students standing near him, including Silver.

There’s also the time he was cooking bacon and it caught on fire. So he put water on it, causing the stove and most of the countertop to be covered in flames.

Fire extinguishers goes by fast in that dorm

But everyone has the fire drill procedures down to a T.

Speaking of fire drill procedures, it’s chaotic just like everything else at NRC

While practicing Stop, Drop, Roll, Silver fell asleep while he was dropping and rolled out of Diasomnia.

“Good Stop, Drop, and Rolling, honey!”

Silver stopped, dropped, and rolled himself out of Diasomnia and into the Hall of Mirrors where Yuu found him blocking Savanaclaw’s mirror.

“Where am I?”

“You’re in the Hall of Mirrors. I found you sleeping in front of Savanaclaw’s mirror. What happened?”

“I Stopped, Dropped, and Rolled.”

“Uh…ok.”

Sebek is the personal Diasomnia alarm clock. Everyone is up when Malleus or Sebek is up.

Malleus gets jealous when Yuu is around any member of Savanaclaw.

The jealousy is because Yuu spends time with Jack, who is like her third bff, which means she spends time with Leona as well.

The shit eating grin of “That girl you like, likes me and my friends better than you” Leona gives Malleus in the hallway makes the dragon fae get smoke pouring out of his ears.

As a result Malleus plays “stupid” and asks Yuu for help on basic things that he could ask anyone about.

This has led to very embarrassing encounters.

Said embarrassing encounter happened when Malleus randomly picked out a book with bees and birds on the cover from his bookshelf and asked Yuu to explain what it was.

Yuu thought it was a children’s based on the cartoonish birds and bees. She found out it was way more than that five pages in.

Yuu couldn’t even explain it to Malleus cause she doesn’t know if it would apply to Fae anatomy.

*Yuu cracks out her A Court of Thorns and Roses books to get an assumption about fae anatomy*

Every student in Diasomnia has a shift on the Lilia guard schedule to make sure Lilia doesn’t get into the kitchen 24/7. Even for a glass of water.

Lilia helping Silver ask you out

Lilia probably knew that Silver was interested in you before his son ever mentioned it. Silver would constantly look in your way (trying to stay awake) and he would sometimes stutter when speaking to you. Lilia, being the old and wise person he is, decides to ask Silver if he wants to ask you out.

"N-no, it's nothing like that," Silver would quickly cut in, but Lilia can see how Silver's blushing. "Aww, is Silver in love?" "DAD STOP"

Silver probably wants to get help but can't bring himself to do it (imagine how much teasing he would get from Sebek, Malleus, and Lilia!) so he just stays constipated on his emotions. Lilia doesn't like this though, and decides why not see what you think!

Lilia will make an excuse to head in your direction, let's say he wanted to grab something specifically from the botanical garden and your class just happened to be having a lab there. Sebek offers to go in his place but Lilia's like "No, I can do it. It's totally fine, nothing you need to worry about!"

He sees you in there, probably debating between a poisonous flower and a normal flower, before Lilia steps in and points at the right plant. "That's the one you should get, not the one that can kill you."

"Right, thanks! I still can't tell the difference," you pluck the flower on the right and thank him, sheepishly rubbing the back of your head. Lilia nods with a smile, then he asks you about how you're doing.

You tell him that you've been adjusting well to this new life of being in Ramshackle and all, and that a lot of friends have helped you feel welcomed. Lilia asks if there's anyone in particular, and you can't help but remember how much Silver has helped you. Though Diasomnia's intimidating students have always scared you, Silver was one that felt like the opposite. He was surprisingly welcoming (unlike the first impression that you got from him which was that he was as terrifying as the rest of the house) and you two often hung out together. Sometimes the animals of the school would join you guys, and he would often help the birds sit on your shoulders for fun.

You began to ramble on about how much Silver and you have gotten close that you almost forgot you had a lab to finish. Before running off, you tell Lilia that you want to ask Silver to join you in the next Halloween event that was being hosted by the village just south of the school. Lilia says he'll deliver the message and waves you off as you run back to your classmates.

Lilia doesn't tell Silver about this since he has more plans on how to get the two of you to officially ask each other out. He tells Silver to meet him at the tower with a specific gargoyle on it, the one that Malleus often went to. Then Lilia delivers the same message to you, saying he forgot to give you something from Vargas's class.

Silver and you both end up seeing each other at the tower with no sign of the Diasomnia vice housewarden, so the two of you awkwardly stand next to each other. But then, you decide to finally ask him if he heard about the village dance coming up in the next few weeks.

"No, I didn't know they were having one," Silver responds, and you finally decide to take all of your courage and ask him. "I wanted to ask you if you were free to go to the dance with me. I-I mean if you don't want to that's fine, but I just feel like I've gotten to know you really well and I want to spend more time with you so..." you ramble on, grabbing the ends of your school jacket while Silver looks at you with a stunned look. Yup, the tables turned! Silver was going to ask you out but you did it instead (go you!)

"N-No I would love to go with you! T-thank you for asking me," Silver says quickly and bows his head a bit. You can see him blushing and you can't help but smile warmly.

Lilia was of course watching all of this from another tower on the roof, so of course none of you knew about this. You and Silver end up giving up on waiting for Lilia and head back, which prompts Lilia to give himself a pat on the back and return to his dorm to congratulate his son.

One of the funny twst headcanons that’s been stuck in my head lately is the appetite of diasomnia and how it might differ from the humans in their lives.

We all know about Sebek’s appetite. It’s mentioned over and over again and he’s always surprised at how little MC eats. Added with the fact he’s training to be a knight.

But I also like to think that the other three eats more than the average do too.

Malleus and his constant use of magic and any training he might need to go through would need the nutrients. He is magic itself so I imagine his consumption of food especially sugar related items are high.

There’s Lilia who’s always keeping in tip top shape and training the boys. Who does push ups everyday. Who’s able to keep up with Malleus even now. Who might have had food insecurity before but doesn’t now is able to eat more.

Silver, while a human, is stupidly strong. The constant being squished mentions in book 7 clearly emphasizes that. Along with the fact that he’s also a knight in training.

So I can imagine them all having at least 3-4 plates of food on the table for each.

And then we have our very normal human Papa Zigvolt and our MC eating their meals. Maybe 1 or 2 plates at most while all the fae around them eats enough for a crowd.

I just find the idea very endearing and cute 😂💞

LILIA finds you interesting and that’s on period. Curing all vampires you say? What devotion! And he can tell without hesitation you would use him for your own benefit if it meant achieving that. Naturally the minute you were assigned to the dorm he had grown quite fond of you and your nature. Yet, he still couldn’t decipher what type of person you were. Seeming a bit..twisted, in a way.

Him being a being who has lived for many years on end could at least tell that lonely look in your eyes was filled with hatred. You don’t quite see him as annoying but him teasing you has been getting on your nerve quite a lot. Lilia has been doing this without stop in hopes that your false facade would eventually crack. SILVER knows only one thing. Is that you know his father and everyone else in diasomnia but yet he would barely make a effort to get to know you. However he was the polar opposite after finding out more about you. Especially that power of yours, so he ALSO decides to train with you in hopes of getting stronger, after even training he still spends time with you because you both alike love the comforting silence you bring one another after some time.

Silver probably silently watches you do something and then falls asleep with a content smile on his face. Sometimes you even bring it upon yourself to fall victim to sleep beside him.

MALLEUS literally saw your powers ONCE and started his “investigation” yes it was stalking you but gladly he had no ill intent! You caught him one day in the bushes with two green curious eyes looking right back at you, and that my friend is how your friendship started! He often loves to cast spells with fireflies around since it looks simply magnificent. And if you’re really uo for it, you use the book of vanitas and show him the true beauty of it.

You both can relate at some extent to the point of being lonely but you finally realized you have each other. Though he’s sad that you might not even live as long he knows that you will always be his lil shy friend who refuses to acknowledge has a crush on him if it starts to get romantic.

Do not worry though! Since he has taken more than “quite a liking” to you as well!

Silver’s narcolepsy is so… interesting to me

everyone always talks about it like it’s a silly joke. like “ha ha sleepy boy!!!” which is. fine. but from what we see in the game, it’s undoubtedly a serious physical disability. it literally causes him to fall asleep randomly throughout the day and there’s no way he can fight it. that’s genuinely scary and a cause for concern. what if he fell asleep next to a lake and drowned or something??

i can’t help but think about how much it must affect him mentally. imagine you’re the only human in a fae family, and your whole life you believed that you would be the first to die, and you need to make the most out of the short time you have to repay your loved ones for raising you.

and the universe decides to give you a sleep disorder that completely hindrances your ability to do so. you doze off CONSTANTLY, wasting hours upon hours of precious time that you could’ve used for something more useful.

you can’t control it. once you feel that drowsiness, it’s over. nothing helps; you just can’t stay awake regardless of what you try. no one knows what’s wrong with you so you just assume that it’s your own fault for being so lazy. your father’s done everything he can, bless his kind heart, but even he can’t find a solution.

nobody understands what you’re going through, they all say it’s normal to feel bored or tired from schoolwork every now and then. which isn’t how you feel at all, but you just don’t have the words to describe it.

it gets to the point where you’re failing your classes because your body simply refuses to function the way it’s supposed to. your teachers blame you and they’re right, it’s your fault it’s all your fault isn’t it?

your peers make fun of or look down on you for being unusual. for always falling asleep. for not expressing emotion (doesn’t anyone else find it hard?). you feel ashamed. you try to fix it but you can’t. nothing can ever be fixed.

it’s frustrating to be unable to control your own body. you’ve grown used to it, and so has everybody else, although that doesn’t make it any less of a problem. but at this point it feels like there’s no other choice but to just live with it.

and in the end, you feel guilty. your father has given you everything, and yet you can’t give back. does that not make you a failure? a disappointment of a son? here you are, living, breathing, thinking, and you can’t even do anything to thank the person who gave you the luxury of existence.

wouldn’t you hate sleep? wouldn’t you utterly despise that feeling of drowsiness that overtakes your mind when you so much as stay still for a single minute? would you not cherish the moments in which lethargy did not plague you?

oh, how you wish there was a cure.

Scarabia: Kalim could probably be convinced of anything, bless his heart. The trouble is making sure to keep Jamil as vice warden and take some of his workload please this overworked boy-

It was a rare weekend where grim was babysat by your two buddies, Deuce and Ace, as they oh so graciously offered too. More like forced to

So how were you going to spend your long awaited off day? Have a sleepover with your darling Malleus and spend time with him the whole day of course!

Therefore, through out the day, you were inseparable as malleus skipped some of his classes to follow you to yours (not like anyone can stop him lol)

And just like that, the sun has set as you and Malleus retreated back to your homely but dilapidated dorm. After having dinner and doing your normal nightly routines, it was time for bed.

...But there was an issue, a very blatant one

Malleus had not clue how to feel about this. Sure, he was ecstatic that you treasure his gift dearly, but was it really necessary for the dragon plush he gave you to be in between you when you two share a bed? AND FOR YOU TO BE CUDDLING IT INSTEAD OF HIM, YOUR TSUNOTARO!

So while you were happily snuggling Sir dragon plush, Malleus was at the edge of the bed sulking. This made u start to wonder what was wrong when you saw your baby boy so gloomy, but when u asked if there was an issue, he said that it was nothing.

Slowly, you drifted into a deep sleep while Malleus just kept glaring at the plush. That was before he decided to make a move and carefully lifted your arms off the plush when he made sure you were fully knocked out in your slumber before kicking that third wheel plush off the bed and onto the cold hard floor. Then he wrapped your arms around him and snuggled into your chest. After all, his child of man deserved to hug only the best, so instead of a fake dragon, why not cuddle up with him!

Let's say in the morning you were quite confused when you saw your plush had been replaced with your darling tsunotaro.
