Story time!
Okay. So in my D&D game, the party got forewarning that we were going to have to fight our way past two drow clerics of Shar. They were both named characters. Zesstra Aleanrahel and Viconia DeVir.
The party had been told we’d have to make it past them to get to the more important fight. Most of the party had seen Viconia previously when they went to support my wizard friend’s brother in a debate, but my monk hadn’t gone with the group. My monk worships Shar’s sister Selune...and the two churches hate each other. Since I gave my monk face tattoos that mark her as part of an ancient Selunite monk order, I figured it’d be bad if my Selunite butt was witnessed being in support of Viconia’s rival.
So going in, even though the party had been given descriptions of both Shar clerics, I had technically never seen either of them. The party had also been told that the two clerics hated each other and several people were surprised they were working together to try to prevent the party from doing our thing.
During the fight, we see Zesstra to the north and Viconia to the south. As a monk with some...choices made...I have 75 feet of movement. Most characters get 25 or 30 feet of movement. I move like yes. So I beeline to Zesstra and as I go to start punching the shit out of her, I ask “So...Are you Viconia? Or the irrelevant one?”
I’d never seen Viconia so even though I knew which one she was based on the descriptions, I wasn’t technically lying.
Zesstra was under the affects of a spell called foresight, which gives her advantage on her attacks and anyone trying to attack her gets disadvantage. She boasts that she foresaw this battle going well for her. “Oh, I doubt that.” She then processed to struggle to hit my monk because I have a 23 armor class [without wearing armor] and even at disadvantage I’m landing roughly more than half of my hits...and I hit five times a turn.
When she gets bloody, I randomly decided “Okay, bored now...” and just wandered away. Thus, without any magical or special class features to do so, I managed to enrage this enemy NPC so much, she focused all her attacks exclusively on me allowing me to effectively remove this powerful caster capable of area of effect damage from the fight for everyone else.
Because I played on her insecurities.
Zesstra died by the end of the fight and I walked away totally fine...so I win.

Mystery Dice Golbins Review
Ah, yes, the shiny click-clack math rocks. While many games now do great things using playing cards, tarot, tokens, or sheer narrative oomph, there’s still something to be said about rolling the bones. Digital dice rollers may make forgetting your bag at home survivable, and enable playing above board across vast distances, and may even make resolving a roll much easier. The die-loving audience…

Obsessed with Marisha quietly picking up Laura’s dice and marvelling over how pretty they are as Laura proudly shows her all the different ones.
I just imagine Laudna getting excited like a spooky little magpie over sparkly trinkets that Imogen has brought home as Imogen grins and blushes cause she’s spent ages trying to find ones she thinks Laudna will like 🥹
