🎭Theater Kid Guy Headcanons🎭

As a former theater kid and current lover of all things musical theater, I can sniff out a fellow theater kid from a mile away, and Guy Redacted made my alarms go crazy. So here’s some roles I think he’s played

His first time on stage was in a 3rd grade play where they acted out various fairy tales. Being a talkative class clown kid of kid, his teacher gave him the role of Rumpelstiltskin and encouraged him to ham it up. As soon as he heard the audience laughing along with his antics, he was hooked.

His first time in a real official show was when he played Jojo in a community theater production of Seussical while in junior high. He still has a big soft spot for the show today, the themes of creativity and imagination really stuck with him.

He was in a musical all 4 years of high school

Freshman year he played Leaf Coneybear in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He wasn’t expecting to be cast as a Freshman, but he was just So Perfect in the role they had to.

Sophomore year he played Lefou in Beauty and the Beast. His “Gaston” was legendary.

Junior year he had his first big leading role as The Leading Player in Pippin. The role requires a TON of stage presence, and he enjoyed delving into a more serious role while still getting to have fun with it. He didn’t love how much dancing he had to do, (he’s always been what’s we call “a mover” rather than “a dancer”.), but he did his best. It remains one of his favorite musicals.

Senior year he returned to his earliest theater experiences with fairy tales and played Cinderella’s Prince in Into The Woods. It wasn’t as big of a role as the previous year, but he had a BLAST with it. Guy absolutely SLAYED Agony, he had amazing chemistry with Rapunzel’s Prince, and their duet was as over the top and hilarious as a good performance of Agony should be. Occasionally when Honey is giving him shit he will still respond with “Am I not sensitive, clever, well-mannered, considerate, passionate, charming, as kind as I’m handsome, and heir to a throne?? Honey, I’m everything maidens could wish for!!”

Hi! Hoping you're have a good weekend. I wonder if I could ask you for some recs for musicals I can watch (bootlegged or otherwise)? You're like the musical theater expert of my mutuals so I figured I would ask. For reference I've seen three musicals, Wicked, Into the Woods, and Hamilton. Into the Woods was my fave but I loved them all! Take care and stay safe if it's super hot where you are!

okay so first off. my personal favorites (in no particular order): Mamma Mia (jukebox musical more grounded in reality but it's got the glitz and glam and strong female relationships that you probably dig from wicked), Rent (angry and emotional rock-opera about starving artists during an epidemic) American Psycho (based on the book/movie. violent but it was literally one of the best professional performances I've ever seen. lots of fun 80s synth in the music), Next To Normal (about mental health struggles and the effect they have on a family), In The Heights (4th of July weekend for a family as they go through A Lot, LMM wrote it and it, the music is gorgeous and it has more of a plot than hamilton so I tend to like it more lol), Hair (hippies during the vietnam war, essentially changed the face of musicals, fun and funky 60s rock music), Billy Elliot (based on a movie, INSANE dancing, takes place during the miner strike in England in the 80s, mixes classical ballet music with angry protest and some 80s vibes and it's SO GOOD lol), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (concert-set musical about a failing 80s glam rock singer essentially having a breakdown on stage for an hour until they realize they've been emotionally abusing their transgender wife who is the backup vocalist and let's her take over the final performance) Spring Awakening (a play about coming of age and the importance of sex education written in 1891, which was then banned over a hundred times until like 2007 when someone decided to tweak it a little and add some rock music lmfao), The Lightning Thief! (the first percy jackson book lmao it's cheesy but it's SO good!!!), Kinky Boots (guy inherits a failing shoe making factory and decides to market specifically to drag performers, a lot of belting and high energy songs, overall a fun and positive show), Six (the six wives of henry the 8th have risen from the dead to put on a pop concert), Beetlejuice (based on the movie/cartoon and it's so Fun omg)

shows that are kinda Big Popular with theater people that you'd probably like bc frankly most people do lmfao: Dear Evan Hansen, Be More Chill, Heathers, Chicago, Les Miserable, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, Book of Mormon, West Side Story, Cabaret, Hadestown, Waitress, Falsettos, Legally Blonde, The Last Five Years

shows I think are severely underrated: Jekyll and Hyde (based on the story but LISTEN the ballad 'In His Eyes' haunts my every waking move), 13 (extremely cheesy story about a boy moving right before his 13th birthday, every high school Ever has put it on so people tend to find it cringy but I'm here to say it's genuinely funny), Drowsy Chaperone (an old man recounts the plot of his favorite show and it's just literally insane and chaotic it's SO funny), Something Rotten (a play write who sees himself as William Shakespeare's biggest rival sets out to outdo the bard by creating the world's first musical. SO funny and creative and I truly think shakespeare would have wanted this show lmao), Dogfight (a soldier tricks a girl he thinks is ugly to coming to a party with him but then he realizes he sucks and falls in love with her, was NOT expecting to like it as much as a I did but it's sweet???), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (interactive comedy that gets so chaotic)

It’s kind of a mix?? Like I leave my clothes folded on top of the drawers rather than putting them away bc the drawers stick and it’s just easier access. The messiest thing about my room is that I’m a human magpie who likes collecting shiny/interesting things so I have a lot of stones and bits of metal or ceramic and some nuts and bolts lying around pffft. XD But mostly I keep things kinda tidy.

Oof honestly just back home (in Victoria.) A part of me also wants to try out a big city?? I’ve always lived in the country and tbh I kind of hate big cities because they seem to be filled with rude busy people but I wanna live there just to have something different and so I’ll know for sure and to say I did, y’know? (lmao a friend and I joke that we’re gonna move to NYC together one day, so she can keep my li’l naive country boi ass from getting chewed up and spat out by New Yorkers. I appreciate it. X’D )

No idea. I’ve only worn makeup twice, and those times were when my Mum begged me for a solid year until I finally caved and let her do it… grumpily. X’D

Nope, not enough money. I used to work out a lot at home and I got p ripped but because of my eating disorder I had to stop. Still haven’t started up again yet. :(

Absolutely no idea, we never have any. That’s actually something I wanna change when I get my own place. I like candles. They calm me.

For myself, personally? Lots when I was a baby bc I had chronic ear infections and would literally just scream 24/7 and never sleep, I was in so much pain (poor tiny Matt. :(((( ) Once because I had a really bad migraine around age 13 that literally would not go away and had me throwing up every other minute and in such bad pain I wanted to literally die. And once recently when I felt super sick for months and months and finally went only to find there was nothing wrong with me?? turned out it was my gluten intolerance but dear god I had never felt that sick.

42: do you take any medications daily?

Just my asthma preventer (and I forget to take that a lot and end up not being able to breathe as well as I should, bc I’m the World’s Biggest Dumbass :)) XD )

Physically: Not being able to breathe. Emotionally: The people I love ending up hating me just because I’m me. There’s a lot of irony to unpack there but I’m just gonna set the whole suitcase on fire. :)

Just whenever I have my shower, occasionally during the day if I’m sweaty or whatever. Sometimes if my insomnia kicked me in the ass I splash my face n neck with cold water to wake up in the morning.

Nope, and I really don’t want to be. The idea of being out of control of myself, even just a little bit, is terrifying to me. No thanks. I also just generally do not like alcohol, idk why.
