Hi there, I hope you're doing well 😭 ❤️
I don't mean to bother you with this so please ignore if it makes you uncomfortable, but I was wondering if there's any Dottore piece in the works or if you're planning any in the future or something (any crumb will do KSNDJDBEHSJ) I love your writing and have been reading your fanfics a few times aha :"D
Have a good day, and I hope this doesn't come off rude! p(^-^)q much love!
In the works I have the Dottore halloween fic (one of the drafts I'm eyeing rn) and a modern au one as well!
My phone notes are kinda filled with incoherent concepts and rambles about him bc for the longest time I'd get ideas right before bed, or I'd wake up at 2am for some reason and I'd have Inspiration lol
Most of those are either too short or incoherent to really share, or I intend to actually turn them into fics at some point. I do have one that I'll share though bc I'm unsure where/what to use it in since it's mostly just dialogue... idk

"None of what you're doing matters," You tell him.
"Oh?"
"You're human. And even if you manage to carve the humanity out of yourself, to become a god... to what end? Nothing is forever."
His smile is slow, purposeful. "Perhaps. Does it bring you comfort, then, to know that none of this matters?"
When you don't answer, he continues, standing up to take the seat next to the operating table where you lie, instead. "To know that you've suffered for nothing?"
His fingers tap playfully against your sternum, over freshly bandaged sutures, and you hiss in pain. He smiles wider.
It did, you think. Not the thought that your suffering was pointless-- malicious and cruel for the sake of itself-- but the thought that he'll be forgotten with time, as all things are. But there's a glint in his eye now, a look you don't like. The sentiment turns to ash on your tongue, souring in your chest.
"I think I'll take you with me," He says, after a beat. "Since it doesn't matter, in the end."
A tear slides down your cheek and he clicks his tongue, wiping it away with his thumb.
"I need you to understand something," He tells you as he stands from the seat again, going back to what he was doing on the other side of the room, "I will never let you go. Do you understand? You will never see the light of day again. This lab will be the last thing you'll ever see."
Dottore must see the disappointment in your eyes. He clicks his tongue again, feigning sympathy. "But perhaps if you're good, I'll bring you something from the surface. As a reward. Now be quiet; these next tests don't require you to speak, and I don't need your input."
You feel numb.

In which Ford struggles so badly to relate to other people that he wonders if he’s really human at all. The more isolated he becomes, the harder it is to reconcile with his own humanity.

I don't feel like q!bad gets enough praise for being such a good dad.
Like, he's encouraging of Dapper's special interests even if they're dangerous and often end up with him at least slightly hurt. He's incredibly respectful of Dapper's independence while also being a caring and attentive father. If they're going to be out and about together, he almost always takes Dapper's input on where they go and what they do.
He knows Dapper is talented player, who knows more than he does sometimes, while still recognizing when Dapper forgets his own limits. He's still a kid, and a fragile one. But that doesn't mean putting him away in a box, like Phil has done with Chayanne. That means finding ways to be safe, having extra backup plans, extra people you trust by your side. They're on together almost every night, even past or before streaming times.
Bad is the egg babysitter, he goes out of his way to do things for them because he genuinely is such a compassionate person. He's also dedicated to solving the lore, to pranking his friends, to building Skeppy statues, and everything else.
Dapper is the mechanic, a collector who isn't ashamed to help others and leave them a gift or a silly prank along the way. He's a kid, who fights with his dad and keeps a journal of how all his machines work, just in case.
A lot of times, when people want to thank Bad for his help, they wonder, "what do you give someone who has everything?" And truth be told I have no idea what I'd do. It never feels like Bad has everything, but rather, it feels like he has everything he really wants. Bad has Dapper, and together, they're able to accomplish almost anything. That's what I think makes them so compelling.
I occasionally scroll through Twitter and see people talking about how they want the egg event to end. I can respect that to a degree, I think it's ended up with some streamers quite stressed, tired, or receiving harassment. However, I feel like Bad and Dapper are the perfect example of why you can't just tear the eggs from their parents - Dapper is as much a character as Bad is. They're a duo, they compliment one another in their skills, their personalities, ect.
It's Bad and Dapper against the world.
And I really hope they find a way to allow them to stay that way.

wait wait what the fuck. shannon set up the "immortality ALWAYS comes with a cost" thing with fallon's faulty memory + bronte's needing to keep himself involved so he doesn't lose himself + fintan and vesperas' instability and then just Did Not Talk About It.
Like what about how all of their individual falling aparts come from their abilities? Fallon is a telepath (I'm not bothering to fact check that correct me if I'm wrong) and his mind is wandering, his memory is faulty, he can't stay in the moment. Bronte loses control of himself, he's become cold and stubborn, he has to ball his negative emotions up in his chest to keep from feeling too much. Fintan is unstable like a fire, an infection, he needs to consume everything in his path and maybe or maybe not let something new grow from the ashes; fire is vengeful. vespera has gone numb and that's what happens when you feel too many emotions for too long! you lose yourself!
that's a symptom of being an ancient!! you lose yourself!!
exploring this as a parallel to fitz, sophie, marella, and keefe is interesting as well because you're seeing all these ancients fall apart and it's because of their ability. Keefe already is going numb. Marella can barely keep control. Sophie ties her emotions around themselves. Fitz loses his mind in his emotions. They know that this could happen to them. It will.
For some reason, it's never talked about how immortality (or indefinite life) is the perfect circumstance for a mind to break. Maybe elves don't die. maybe they're exiled because the weight of the years shattered them.
Oo and excellent observation and conversational topic. What really stands out to me about it is that's it's an inevitability. It's not you might lose yourself to your ability, it's not you might become unstable, it's not you might have to fight against it. It's that you live forever, so there is no escaping it. You live forever, so you will live long enough to experience the disconnect of a world moving on around you. You will live long enough that you will either have to fight to stay present--like Bronte--or distance yourself--like Fallon and other ancients. And if you chose to fight, then you will keep living, long enough that there will come a time you cannot continue to win. Perhaps you can stay in a stalemate for a while, but it will grow increasingly difficult and eventually will reach a point of no return.
And! It never ends! Elves live forever. Unless they die via unnatural means (fire, squashed, drowned, fell down the stairs bella swan style) they are going to just. Be experiencing that forever. There is no anticipated ending to losing themselves, they just continuously do so forever and ever. Some can hold on longer than others, are more present than others at the same point in time, but we're speaking in infinities! That dwarfs it all. Unless they finally discover a natural end to their lifespan, it's all practically inevitable.
But yeah, Shannon has not covered this. Likely because 1. it's horrifying, and 2. it's completely irrelevant to the battle's Sophie is facing. She has eternity in front of her, and eternity to come to terms with her lifespan. Right now she's got other things on her plate than contemplating how long she'll live and what she'll do with it and what'll happen to her. But also I think. It may have been unintentional on Shannon's part, to create such a consequence. Not that she's completely ignoring it, as she has separated the ancients from everyone else to an extent and characterized them differently. But the idea of losing yourself inevitably with time? Probably not what she meant, at least that's my assumption based on what she's intended with the rest of her world. However, maybe i'm wrong and not giving her enough credit! perhaps she knows about that, but just doesn't cover it because it doesn't fit the vibe of the series or her intended audience.
Who knows! Either way, it is a very interesting and also horrifying thought. Thanks for prompting it!

If you don't mind me asking what's pro shipping??? If possible can you give me an example?
IDK MAN?? I think originally it was like "are you okay with other people shipping incest?" and was about like... idk those adopted brother gods from Marvel or the brothers from Supernatural or something.
But then it became "do you align with my personal morals? (but I won't tell you what those morals are)" which meant anything from like... "do you ship heroes with villains?" to "do you ship this actual child with their adult parent?" to "do you ship these unrelated adults who I personally headcanon as long lost siblings?" to "do you ship abusive/toxic/unhealthy relationships?"
Which is... a broad range of meanings, and no one can agree on which one it is. But specifically the idea of being antiship (or an anti) is that you believe other people shouldn't be allowed to make fiction/fanfiction that don't align with what you believe is "morally correct." Which inherently makes you pro-censorship. Which inherently puts you too close to fascist ideas for my comfort.

what the fuck was elon musk thinking. like. genuine question. "oh the x represents the imperfections in all of us that make us unique!!1!1!!" i'd expect to see this in a motivational speech written by a bored and tired teenager, not from a full-grown man. yeah sure, mr musk, and it's a simple coincidence you have another company branded around x. sure. thanks for removing one of the most recognisable cultural symbols of our generation, by the way. his head is so far up his ass that maybe he'll be able to see his common decency

friend organised plans for today on the 16th of march
we’ve talked about the plans at least once since then
we talked about the plans last Thursday
we talked about the plans this Thursday (though one friend wasn’t there tbf)
friend send reminder about plans yesterday
friend sent another message this morning with suggestion for dinner
two friends pulled out today at 5 hours then 4 hours before
and idk I know people are allowed to pull out at short notice if they need to but this continues an ongoing pattern with no apparent good reason and I’m just. tired. Especially when these are some of my only (basically are my only) irl friends

I know this conversation already passed but it's truly wild how literally almost everyone in the industry like 90% of people is related to someone else in the industry. Like i just googled Nicholas Hoult and he's related to Anna Neagle and his sisters are also actresses and his family is also seemingly pretty well-off. It really seems that most of the time to make it in film/music/modeling you need to have existing connections or money or preferably both

Struggling girldad. No idea how to properly take care of her long hair. It's matting up into full on dreadlocks. Google for advice and find nothing but ludicrously intense hair care routines. All of them recommend buying silk pillowcases. Y'all are out of your fucking minds with that recommendation. I can't even. This kid is still clinging onto using sippy cups for christ's sake. Silk pillowcases. Jesus fuck almighty. Is it possible to have long hair without it getting knotted to all fuck without having these, quite frankly, fucking insane care requirements that all the coquette bloggers are yammering on about?? Surely there are normal people out there with long hair who are fine and normal about it and don't have All Knots All The Time without having to have their entire personality and way of life based around hair care?? It's not even that long: barely past her shoulders. But even at this length it's permanently knotted to shit because neither of us know how to take care of it properly. Just plain old straight, fine, basic white-girl hair. No waviness or texture or curls to complicate things. How do I learn this stuff?? Where are the guides that are chill and normal and not written by Very Intense Haircare Fanatics????? 😭

Maggie isn't great at social situations. She talks too much to make herself feel comfortable. But even when she feels comfortable, she doesn't understand cues. She likes being direct and people being direct with her.
Maggie says whatever comes to her mind without thinking it through. Her parents encouraged this. They thought it was good for her to let everything out and be her authentic self. But it also gets her into trouble sometimes because she can be loud and abrasive and strong in her opinions. She says the wrong thing even if she believes she's right. She can be insensitive.
And she tends to crumble after. She doubts herself. She immediately apologizes. She doesn't want to step on people's toes or take up too much space. She calls it bringing the thunder to give a name to it. To make herself feel powerful and less alone. She's like a superhero! She can be misunderstood, not well known, but she's good at her job and she reads a lot and she makes do. But that doesn't change the fact that she can also be judgmental and it comes out in the way she talks about situations without ever considering that the people she is talking to has experienced them.

I sometimes get lost reading some American posts bc the cultural gap is too big but often times my main shock is how much americans(and other countries like Australia or sweden )are richer on average than 80%of europe and don't even know it.
