Disney Villain Recruiters Personalities: Part 9
Tumblr media
The lawless lassie on land! The duchess of doubloons! The swashbuckling sailor of the seven seas, herself!
Put your hands of all kinds together for:
Lady Hock! (Or Hook)
For those of you who don't know, the Disney Villain Recruiters was a Tokyo Disneyland-only show held every Halloween. Basically, the minions of famous Disney villains come to our world to try and tempt us to join their villain bosses.
- By the way, they are not the sons, daughters, or genderbent versions of the villains. They are just minions.
- Also! I do not speak Japanese. Thankfully, there were a few that had English subtitles, but not a lot. These are just my interpretations of her based on the videos I've seen, along with my own personal ideas about his character. So, let's get started!
Lady Hock (Hook)🪝
Working as part of Captain James Hook's crew, Hock is one of the only underlings, aside from Mr. Smee, who her master trusts the most.
No one truly knows Hock's origin, but most speculate that, similarly to most residents of Neverland, were transported to the sacred land decades, or even centuries ago, by chance or destiny. Hock, perhaps, was a troubled young woman living in England who desired to escape her former life. Regardless, her heart belongs to the ocean and the boundless adventures Neverland has to offer, and whatever her life was before this place, before her joining her captain's crew, is long forgotten. Good riddance! Or, perhaps not...
Despite her stoicism, Hock is very social, charismatic, and gentlemanly to her fellow female recruiters, who she makes a habit of escorting on stage. Perhaps her behavior comes from the fact that she has been surrounded by men, her crew, for most of her life. She even speaks in a more masculine tone to her relatively quiet voice, all of which, in turn, makes her more "prince-like" in comparison to most of her colleagues.
As she is a pirate though, Hock has a mischievous side to her, often pulling pranks on the male recruiters, such as hiding props or annoying them by casually placing her arms on their shoulders.
As is befitting of her home in Neverland, Hock adores children and has been seen by many guests comforting little ones and caring for sleeping babies. This, along with her friendly, laid-back personality, makes Hock a fan favorite among guests and her colleagues.
Captain Hook: In spite of his temper and occasional bumbling on missions, Hock cares for her captain. Unlike most of the recruiters, Hock has the luxury of having an almost casual relationship with her master, as he views her and Smee as his closets confidantes, as proven by Hook trusting Hock with his famous hook hand that she carries around the park. She understands Hook's emotional vulnerability since she is aware of his insecurities and remains incredibly loyal despite his faults. However, Hock is aware of her captain's more sadistic side, and while she may harbor hatred for Peter Pan, Hock understands that the young boy is just that: a boy. Though, while she can excuse most actions taken by Hook and the rest of the crew against Peter, as he has magic that none of them have, she cannot excuse her captain's actions against Wendy, her brothers, and the lost boys; they are innocent children in her eyes.
Mr. Smee: Hock and Smee have an amicable relationship, as the two of them are the only ones to speak to Hook in a less formal capacity, even though they hold a slight fear of their captain, Smee most of all. Hock appreciates Smee's kind and gentle nature, perhaps reminding her of someone in her distant past. They have a strong bond between them, and while Hook dismisses their more kind and empathetic nature's as weakness, Hock and Smee understand each other. Maybe someday, should something ever happen to their captain, Lady Hock and Mr. Smee could rule the seven seas together, high-stake adventures and all, but more peaceful.
Peter Pan: Although Peter is her master's enemy, and she despises him for getting in her Hook's way, Hock can admit that his pranks on the captain make for good fun, and a challenge to capture the boy whatever it takes. Hock is not nearly as obsessed with capturing Peter like Hook is, preferring to travel and find sacred treasures, but that doesn't mean she won't try! She will strike, and she strikes fierce and hard. There is no escape from her. However, Hock refuses to kill him or any of the children they may fight, only wanting to wound or stop them however she can. Peter or Wendy may see this, this compassion she holds within, and talk to her one-on-one. Maybe the "boy who never grows up" isn't so bad after all. Annoying, yes, but not worth killing.
Apple Poison: If there is one thing about Apple that most of the recruiters are not aware of, is his fear of sharp objects. As such, he can't stand look at hook Lady H carries for longer than a few seconds. And the poor elder will get slightly irritated by her pranks and trying to steal his apple to eat. Aside from that, Apple and Hock have a fairly peaceful relationship. He appreciates that she's not as chaotic as Jack or Dalmatia, and is a lot more tolerable than the latter two. He also admires her for her ability to charm and comfort guests, even though she may be more sincere than she lets on.
Jack Heart: These two have a more "mature but still fun older sister" and "goofball little brother" relationship. While she may not approve of ALL the pranks Jack pulls, especially towards Veil, Hock often joins in on the fun. They have been seen playfully fencing and cracking jokes together. The little squabbles she and Dalma have are entertaining to watch, but because Dalma is more sensitive and prone to irritation, Jack will calmly stop the argument. And hey! Anyone who can pick on Apple and get away with it is a friend in his book.
Malfie (Malfi): Hock loves to mess with Malfie; a perfect target due to his ego. Especially when he stutters during his dramatic "I'm the most beautiful creature to ever exist" speech. She often steals his mirror right out of hands to check herself in the mirror, or just to startle him. Either way, Malfie doesn't appreciate being a target of ridicule, but that's not new, given Jack and Dalmatia's behavior towards him. The two of them have a pleasant relationship, all in all, and he might join in on the pranks every once in a while if he's up for it. Just don't touch his hat!
Eight Foot Joe: Hock doesn't find Joe to be so bad to be around. They don't really interact a lot, but that's partly because of Joe's hesitation to talk to women, aside from Ms. Hades. As a result, she doesn't bother pranking him as much as the others, though she may steal his umbrella from time to time. Once he and Ms. Hades have interacted long enough, Lady H becomes the second female recruiter he trusts the most. They might bond over their shared love of the sea, and how they both feel slightly homesick, despite Joe's less than enthusiastic experience at home. So, they have a fairly passive relationship.
Mr. Dalmatia: Hock's habit of treating Dalmatia more like a dog than a person irks the speckled canine to no end. She enjoys annoying him by using him as an arm rest, and playing fetch with him, much to his slight dismay. However, they share a likeness for stealing their colleague's stuff, and they have fun doing so. Both Hock and Dalma are great friends with Jack, so they have to interact with one another. But they themselves are good friends and enjoy each other's company. Besides, Dalma would take Hock over Pretty Scar any day (for now at least).
Pretty Scar (Mzuri): Although Lady Hock has a high tolerance rate for the people around her, she tends to avoid attracting the young hyena's attention. Hock doesn't despise Pretty Scar as much as others might, but she can find her cutesy persona grating at times. She does find it hilarious, however, that such a "cute" young woman can eat as much or as violently as she does. Hock is used to this, of course, given how disgusting most of her captain's men eat back at home. Mzuri admires Hock and looks up to her as a big sister, and over time, Hock helps Mzuri relax and comforts her as any good big sister would do. They'll get there, all it takes character is development!
Ms. Hades: Ah, the den mother, and one of Hock's greatest friends. The fire maiden and pirate gal are somewhat of an unlikely duo, but they certainly make up the collection of colleagues who are on good terms with one another. Despite how Hock's pranks, sword fighting, and overall pirateness can cause chaos and a lot of damage to their theme park home, she makes up for it in her laid-back attitude, self-control, and fabulous charisma. Hock, meanwhile, appreciates Ms. Hades' maturity, even if she may be a stick in the mud at times (though not nearly as often as Apple). Generally speaking, the two care for and respect each other, like sisters!
Veil: Hock and Veil are incredibly close and consider each other best friends. They have been seen holding hands, linking arms, gazing into each other's eyes...caressing each other's faces.......something tells me that these two are a bit more than just friends. Maybe, or they're just incredibly cuddly. No judgment here. Either way, it's adorable. Hock is protective of Veil, defending her from Jack when the card and bell clash in an argument or if the former goes too far with teasing her. Hock knows that despite Veil's "mysterious" nature, she's secretly insecure about herself, and based on her experience with her captain, Hock knows how to help boost Veil's spirits. Friendship? Sisterhood? Lovers? Doesn't matter! These two love each other.
Faja (Farja): These two are the female versions of Jack and Dalma. Chaos just follows them everywhere! Best friends and practically sisters, Faja is always excited to get up to some mischief, intentionally or not. Hock is used to seeing magic on account of her living on an island existing within a star, so she'll sit next to Faja, maybe sharpening her sword to pass the time, while the erratic bird lady unsuccessfully creates a potion. Hock is one of the first to calm Faja down when she's on one of her shouting rampages when she's frustrated, which is often. Again, older sister energy is a common feeling within the ladies' group.
Overall: Lady Hock is a confident, friendly, and not-so-secretly kindhearted "villain" whose previous experience with her fellow pirates and residents of Neverland has helped the lass develop her social skills, in comparison to her more socially inept colleagues.
As much as she cares deeply for her captain, Hock's refusal for harming children may one day lead her to oppose him. And her experience with her new crew, her new friends, her new family, may lead her to betray her old family.
Only time will tell...may the ocean breeze guide Hock the right way.
Author's Note: Thank you all so much for your patience, I know that it's taken me an eternity and a half to get this done, and I apologize for that. However! While we may be almost done with this series, this won't be the end of me talking about the Villain Recruiters forever! Nope! I have a few ideas in mind, but for now, stay tuned for the very last Personality Page: Faja (Farja)!

I figured I’d share my take on Ace’s older brother, who I based off of Jack from Disney Villain Recruiters, (though I don’t know all that much about those guys…) and his name is Jax! (Bc Jack is already taken, and I didn’t want to go with “knave” or something)
Also, it’s in GL2 bc it’s easy to design characters in… I do have a page in my sketchbook for him, but 1) I’m to lazy to get up and take a picture of that page and 2) it’s just me trying to figure out ideas for his hair, so it’s not that interesting. Anyway, the actual design!
Tumblr media
I knew that I wanted him to have two-toned hair bc Jack has black hair, but I also wanted him to look like Ace and be a redhead like the other “red suits” (if that makes sense, in which I mean, Ace, Cater and Riddle)
I just gave him whatever I thought looked good, so he looks really cool. I just knew I wanted a lot of red and orange along with the heart accessories so that he’d be easily identifiable as a “heart”. I also tried to make his side hair look a bit like it was forming a heart, tho I’m not sure how well I succeeded in that. Oh yeah, he also has flowers on his shoes to represent the rose garden.
I think his favorite food would be some kind of tart, considering that in Alice in Wonderland, there’s a Knave of Hearts, (with Knave being another way of saying Jack) that ate one of the Queens tarts and gets beheaded for it. Guess it just runs in the family 🤷‍♀️
Yeah, not sure what else to say about him other than I think that Ace got a lot of his personality and interests from Jax.
Might draw this guy out someday. Who knows.

I saw the tag- I am gonna ask you about the crossover universe- (omg I’m literally gushing about this)
OH, IT IS TIME!
So you can find a lot of this on the “What is the WHAM ARMY?” page on my blog – I’ll try to remember to link it; I’m drafting this in a word processor first so I don’t use it. Essentially, this is the universe I’ve created for my fanfic “Taking Back the Crown,” which is about…basically my favorite villains all moving into the same house and trying to take over the multiverse. And then it got lore. And more lore. Because I cannot write anything normal. The fic is nearing its 150th chapter and I’m nowhere NEAR exhausted of all the ideas I want to put in it – it’s just my big playground for hyperfixation fun. Anyway, here’s a rundown of the major points of it!
 THE CAST
The main characters are the eight villains who are the founders of the WHAM ARMY. The faction name is an acronym of their first initials. They’re my ultrafaves, the villains I always get fluttery heart for, and probably the biggest collection of losers you can imagine. I’ll put them in order of the acronym and give you some background on how each entered the team.
Wuya (Xiaolin Showdown) – So the connecting factor between these people is that Mozenrath (his name is a few slots down) is their team leader and the one who decided to build a team in the first place. Wuya was recruited when Mozenrath found her puzzle box in an ancient vault. This is set post-series for XS (and Chronicles is not at all canon), so what had happened is in the big Showdown right after Raimundo was named team leader officially in the finale, the Xiaolin Monks won ALL the Shen Gong Wu to their side and stuffed Wuya in the box. So Mozenrath found her and let her out so they could be pals. A magic potion let her regain human form fairly early on, and her power isn’t even nerfed either the way Chase Young would’ve done.
Huntsman (American Dragon: Jake Long) – ADJL is also post-series in this timeline. Mozenrath has the power to resurrect people from the dead at will because he’s memorized an ancient and incredibly complex ritual that he can execute mentally (note that this means you can remove this ability from him by tampering with his memories). The Huntsman was resurrected so as to show Mozenrath around the old Huntsclan vault (which is where they found Wuya’s puzzle box). No other Huntsclan member survived the purge except Rose (and 88 and 89, but they don’t count and aren’t in this story), so the Huntsman is starting from square one.
Ayam Aghoul (Aladdin: The Animated Series): Basically just got sick of losing. He’d teamed up with a few other rando Aladdin rogues to try and pick a fight with Maleficent, and she sent him packing. So he ended up finding one of the few residents of the Seven Deserts who was powerful enough to match him AND had a similar grudge against Maleficent.
Mozenrath (Aladdin: The Animated Series): The man of the hour and the creator of the entire team. He starts the fic by crashing Maleficent’s KH Disney Villain alliance and trying to add himself to it, but…ends up being such a disrespectful nuisance that Hades just drags him straight down to the Underworld. That moment inspired him to get his OWN band of friends and start making a name for himself.
Archibald Snatcher (The Boxtrolls): Met Mozenrath in the Underworld after his death in film canon. Annoyed Hades one too many times by claiming that he wasn’t actually supposed to die, seeing as he isn’t allergic to dairy (he is), so Hades threw him in the same cell as Mozenrath and…
Roman Torchwick (RWBY): I started writing this fic in 2016, immediately post-V3, so it’s canon-divergent after the last episode of V3 (but I got all the later-game characters to show up eventually). Which means Roman is ALSO dead at the start of this fic. He ALSO comes storming up to Hades insisting he’s not even supposed to be dead. At the same time as Snatcher is already pestering him. Which is how Mozenrath, Snatcher, and Roman end up in the same jail cell in Tartarus and get the idea that maybe they should break back into the world of the living and try to build something BETTER than what any of the three had beforehand.
Mad Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone): Mozenrath, immediately after breaking out of the Underworld, attempted to take over Arthur’s kingdom by just walking in and throwing magic around. It backfired horribly when Merlin showed up. But then Mim showed up to counter Merlin and realized that maybe she had a potential friend here who was as blackhearted as she.
Yzma (The Emperor’s New Groove): Post-TENG, no KNG or TENS (but I reference things from TENS every now and again). Merlin turned Mozenrath into a rat, so Mim brought him to Yzma’s Secret Lab to change him back. There, they found Yzma as a cat, and she so desperately wanted out of her living situation that she added herself to the team. She was also restored to human form shortly thereafter.
There is a potential ninth member of the core in the form of Vexen (Kingdom Hearts). KH is canon-divergent after DDD and basically ignores almost every game that comes out after Fragmentary Passage. Vexen, as Even, was trying to integrate into life as a hero in Radiant Garden, except everyone annoyed him way too much, so he decided to go be with people that would give right back any insults he dished out. And then realized he was much happier being on the evil team and doing mad science with no ethics. However, he will not be promoted to the upper ranks because 1. it would spoil the acronym and 2. he is unanimously agreed-upon to be the biggest wet blanket of the group and nobody wants him at the founder parties.
(Imagine my disbelief when the actual canon arc for Vexen was THE REVERSE ONE IN WHICH HE JUST DECIDES TO GO LIVE AT RADIANT GARDEN AND NOT BE ANNOYED BY ANYTHING and that’s why JC doesn’t like Kingdom Hearts III)
Anyway, this crew is a bunch of silly friends who enjoy partying, singing, dancing, drag, indulging in vices, causing mayhem, taking over cities, arranging for mass murder, piecing together smear campaigns…but they’re all pretty much ride or die for each other. And that goes double for the ships of the set: Mozenrath/Huntsman, Mim/Aghoul, Wuya/Yzma, and my favorite ship to end all favorites, Roman/Snatcher (RedHatBlackHat is the ship name).
From there, you have a B-Squad of, like, seventy other people based on my faves. Nonnie, I know you saw this because of Vincent Edgeworth, Victor Blake, and Albert Krueger, and they are three of COUNTLESS examples. It’s a found crime family that keeps getting bigger as I get more fave villains and there’s hardly a rhyme or a reason. Currently, they live in a floating fortress designed when they stole Terra Cyclonia (Storm Hawks) and hefted it out into the aether between worlds with crystal technology.
They have a rival hero faction in the form of the Cinnamons: a gathering of people who they’ve wronged who turned out to make pretty good friends themselves. While the WHAM ARMY are the villain-protag team that you feel slightly bad loving the escapades of, the Cinnamons are the rainbows, fluff, sunshine, (secret crippling depression and anxiety), and pep-talkers of the multiverse. They’re the deuteragonist team as opposed to the “villains” of the story. They also have eight “leaders,” but they were picked up a little less quickly than the WHAM ARMY founders, instead coming together over the span of a much longer quest. These people are:
Sora (Kingdom Hearts): Heart of the team and the person who pulled them all together, because Sora loves everyone. He, Riku, and Kairi witnessed the WHAM ARMY wreaking destruction on both Radiant Garden and Disney Castle, and Sora decided no one gets to treat his homes-away-from-home like that and get away with it! Between Mozenrath and the still-looming threats of Maleficent and Xehanort, he’s now collecting pals from all worlds to fight against evil and do as much good as they can do! (While having sleepovers.)
Ruby Rose (RWBY): Before she, Nora, Ren, and Jaune could get into Mistral, Sora interrupted them on their path and directed them right back around to Vale with the news that Roman Torchwick was back in action. After an incident involving the Destiny Trio and Team RNJR having to team up and actually kill the massive Grimm unleashed in the V3 endgame, they all headed out to Radiant Garden together to continue their mission.
Papyrus (Undertale): Sora found him while exploring worlds and they clicked immediately as pals. Then the WHAM ARMY, who was living in Mt. Ebott at the time, sparked an anti-monster racist sentiment through the town, and Papyrus was advised to leave the world for his own safety, so he went traveling with Sora.
Stork (Storm Hawks): Maleficent, who is also an active player in this game, made a power play by destroying the Condor with the entire Storm Hawks team onboard while they were on the Far Side of Atmos (post-series). Stork, believing himself to be the only survivor, attempted to take his own life – only for Sora to show up just in time and offer him something better: hope that his friends survived, and new friends to tag along with until they could prove either way.
Jasmine (Aladdin): The Cinnamons came looking to Agrabah for more information on Mozenrath. When Jasmine heard he was causing chaos, she decided to get personally involved.
Katara (Avatar: The Last Airbender): Post-ATLA, no LoK. Sora made a trip to the Fire Nation to see if he could head off the WHAM ARMY’s latest scheme, and ran into the Gaang along the way. After helping Katara, Aang, and Zuko protect the Fire Nation from a very near miss, Sora invited them to come travel with him. Only Katara accepted at first, the other two wanting to clean things up on their homeworld.
Kazuichi Soda (DanganRonpa): Post-SDR2, no DR3. Xehanort requested Izuru Kamukura be used as a vessel, and Kazuichi went in Izuru/Hajime’s place so his buddy didn’t have to. But the first chance he got, Kazuichi turned and ran from the Castle That Never Was…where Sora had just crash-landed. Kazuichi patched up Sora’s ship, and immediately became part of his crew. (Worth noting: in this AU, the Remnants of Despair were never brainwashed and were completely aware of what they were doing. Kazuichi is basically a redemption story, trying to be a better person to make up for the hell he caused. Also, while on the Despair side, he’d hacked off his leg to sew Junko’s in its place, disabling himself – that leg goes through an arc regarding what prosthesis is in its place.)
Rapunzel (Tangled): After the Vardaros arc of S2 of Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure. Rapunzel was targeted by the WHAM ARMY because she was essentially a living MacGuffin for one of their spells. Sora showed up, and Rapunzel decided to go along with him for safety AND fun, leaving Cassandra to continue the pilgrimage to the Dark Kingdom. (Wrote this before KHIII was out. And before the Evil Cass twist.)
And just like the WHAM ARMY, these folks have a huge B-squad that lives in the Radiant Garden castle and helps them deal with the various tragedies they have to clean up after. Riku, Kairi, and Jaune Arc in particular get a decent amount of stage time.
As you can see, Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty/Kingdom Hearts) and her forces are another big set of chess pieces on the board! After she sent Mozenrath to gay baby jail and it didn’t stick, she’s been trying to continue plans for domination as usual but ALSO wipe the WHAM ARMY off the face of the multiverse. She, Jafar (Aladdin), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), and Hades (Hercules) all came straight here from KH. But I’m working to model that team’s inner circle on the team in “Quite a Glittering Assemblage,” the sister fic by gavillain (it’s basically this premise but Maleficent gets a team to start instead, but similarities end there, his is a whole different, fresh, and fun flavor). I’ve just gotten all these characters intro’d instory, but the other biggies are Loki (Marvel – I based him in the Cinematic Universe but he’s kind of just an amalgamation of Lokis), Dr. Doom (Marvel), Captain Hook (Once Upon a Time), Russell Edgington (True Blood), and Fish Mooney (Gotham). Currently, they operate out of the Forbidden Mountain in the Enchanted Dominion.
There’s also a very new addition as of the 140’s chapters: the Heathens. This is a squad of villains with moral lines in the sand (and some antiheroes or corrupted heroes). Basically, these aren’t your killers for fun. These are the people who steal candy from the gas station and think they’re slick, but the point is they’re enjoying themselves so just let it happen. The four founders of this one are Harley Quinn (DC – based on The Batman but an amalgamation of Harleys that leans sympathetic), Yang Xiao Long (RWBY), Giovanni Potage (Epithet Erased), and Velvet Crowe (Tales of Berseria). Currently, they operate out of the old mansion in Twilight Town.
The Xehanorts are here, and that team is largely who you think it is – though I stripped away Vexen, Demyx, Marluxia, Larxene, and Luxord in order to replace them ALL with Xaldin. More crossover shenanigans to come on this front. This team isn’t very active – they’re waiting for the Keyblade War – but they’re operating out of the World That Never Was.
There’s also another side villain faction: the Morbians, led by Mirage (Aladdin: The Animated Series). These are the demons of fear, the stuff that lurks in your nightmares, and…the villains I really like but who I don’t quite think fit in with the WHAM ARMY or any other more prominent group. But to give you an idea of what the flavor of this team is, she’s recruited not one but TWO Boogeymen – Pitch Black (Rise of the Guardians) and Oogie Boogie (The Nightmare Before Christmas).
There will be more villain factions to come, and I kind of want to splinter the Cinnamons to multiple bases as well. Obviously it’s easier to split villains up because they’re fun to write at war with each other – when I have hero teams come up against each other, usually they end up becoming best buddies instead of fighting, and that’s how I like it, but that’s why there’s just ONE BIG HERO TEAM as opposed to the many villain squads rattling around.
 THE SETTING
So as you have probably gleaned, the multiverse setup is largely based on Kingdom Hearts, which is one of my favorite things (in the KH1 through Fragmentary Passage era anyway). There are many worlds that can be visited either by Gummi Ship or Corridor of Darkness. Basically any evil-aligned sorcerer can use Corridors in this ‘verse – they’ve opened their souls to Darkness and have magic, so they can do so.
The implication is that every world represents a separate “story” or part of one. As in if it’s a work of fiction HERE, it’s a world THERE. Some characters are actually savvy enough to know they’re fictional (e.g. Megavolt from Darkwing Duck, Xayide from The Neverending Story). Most of them aren’t built to handle the news, though, and just shrug it off if told. (No, really, the cosmic order prevents them from taking that news seriously if they’re not from something that regularly leans on the fourth wall anyway.)
But sometimes, things get AU’d in without their full worlds. I was inspired by how Final Fantasy is treated in canon KH, and once I started bringing in more FF stuff by the same method, I felt motivated to do that with MORE fandoms if I felt the characters could be divorced from their settings and histories easily. I’ve done it for most Disney Channel non-animated properties as well as Satellite City (ain’t that the worst combo you’ve ever looked at). I’m planning to do it for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn because I’m coming up on a location I want to delve into the civilization of but don’t have many canon characters for, so guess what, you get the FE cast now.
Major worlds or relevant locations in play are the Cyclonian warship, Radiant Garden, Twilight Town, and occasionally the Enchanted Dominion, but we move from plotline to plotline with journeys to many, many, MANY worlds of things I want to play with the settings and casts of. Also, the Cyclonian warship is about to get replaced with another WHAM ARMY base; we’ll get there.
 THE STORY
For the first major “book” of TBTC, the WHAM ARMY has found a spell that they think will let them conquer the entire multiverse by giving them control over Kingdom Hearts itself. All they have do to is collect a bunch of MacGuffins that correspond to twelve elements: fire, water, earth, air, light, darkness, life, death, time, space, entropy, and aether. In order to do this, they visit the worlds of KH, RWBY, Avatar, Storm Hawks, Okami, Undertale, Wakfu, The Legend of Zelda, The Neverending Story, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and many many more. The Cinnamons catch wind of what they’re doing and start assembling. Meanwhile Maleficent is on the hunt for the Book of Prophecies and starts hiring villains on her team as well. After many madcap adventures and some devastating tragedies near endgame, the Cinnamons accidentally put the Book of Prophecies in Maleficent’s hands at the same time that Maleficent finally captures Mozenrath and gets him under heel. The WHAM ARMY and Cinnamons both launch attacks on Maleficent’s forces, and each walks away with what they came for. This is also the part where we slowburn up to the four major WHAM ARMY ships and many Cinnamon ships. In the end, the WHAM ARMY actually gets all the ingredients for their spell, but what they don’t know is it will actually cause the DESTRUCTION of the worlds. So an outside force intervenes (Discord from MLPFIM, who later joins the WHAM ARMY because he wants friends who actually appreciate him as a villain and won’t make him change) to stop them, and the next thing they know, they’re starting from square one.
We’re now in the second “book” of this story. The Cinnamons are gathering up all lost friends – the rest of Team RWBY, the Gaang, the Storm Hawks (who did in fact survive the explosion), the lost KH characters. The WHAM ARMY, on the other hand, is gathering up more villains to bolster their forces for a new evil plan: to conquer the worlds one by one, starting with Atlantis (Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire) and using portals to link to other territories of interest. While the WHAM ARMY is essentially working through a to-do list of what they need before they can launch such a massive invasion, the Cinnamons are finding strength in numbers because the writing’s on the wall that between Mozenrath, Maleficent, Mirage, and Xehanort, things are going to get worse before they get better, and as evil builds, good will need to rise to protect the innocent. As for Maleficent, she’s no longer able to chase the Book of Prophecies, and so, because she’s got Hades, Loki, and Salem (RWBY) there and they’re all like “Even though we’re pretty godlike, we are not that happy with how the gods we knew have run things,” Maleficent’s new goal is to slaughter the gods of all pantheons (minus those in her care) and replace them with her allies.
Anyway, as I had said in the post you saw, Anon – I basically take everything fictional I love and shove it into this AU for daydreams because it lets me imagine my faves having CROSSOVER INTERACTIONS and doing cool epic stuff on a multi-world scale. (But as much as I’ve talked up the epic aspect, a lot of it is just…like…people fucking around and hosting karaoke nights.) Anyway, I hope this gave you a good sense of the madness, and I hope it serves as a reminder to everyone that they can and should just. Make a daydream and/or fanfic universe that’s indulgent as hell. Just do it.

Mortal Kombat Akademy
In between my work on the 31 Days of Original Characters challenge, I've begun to revisit my plans for the big Mortal Kombat story I'd wanted to do for awhile; Mortal Kombat Akademy. I've done a lot of character busts with backstory info and I did a sort of "season one" plots but this is something I'm not really satisfied with anymore. I'm gonna spend the new year trying to readjust and rework the overall story and characters to something more workable. Here's a few odds and ends of what I've planned so far;
Story Outline
Shaolin Monks, Lui Kang and Kung Lao, are recruited into the Mortal Kombat Akademy, the secret fighting school located on the island paradise of international crimelord, Shang Tsung. But those who step foot on the island are subjected to terrors beyond comprehension once they learn the true purpose of the school; a training ground for the soldiers of an interdimensional tyrant who conquers by use of a fighting tournaments ordained by the gods themselves. But one of the gods, Raiden, is willing to give Earth a fighting chance by training as many chosen Earthlings as he can so they may finally defeat the forces of evil in the Mortal Kombat tournament.
Kinda bare bones but for plot synopsis go, it helps me sort of make a launching pad for the ideas. Like my original idea, the story is still primarily about Lui Kang and Kung Lao going to the school and meeting/befriending the typical heroes of the Mortal Kombat world, Raiden being their mentor and Shang Tsung being the big bad to overcome.
But the story ideas I had just don’t really cut it for me now. I feel as though I was sort of putting the cart before the horse by putting so much time making elaborate details instead of snowballing one idea to make a big bright idea. I’ve made some titles for them;
Start the Semester!
Tour the Akademy!
Prepare for the First Exams!
Bond Like Your Lives Depend On It!
Learn the Fatalities!
Wills and Testaments!
Survive the Detetionrealm!
Survive the First Round of Exams!
Survive the Second Round of Exams!
Survive the Last Round of Exams!
Party Your Asses Off!
Mortal Kombat Akademy V. The DC Universe: Dawn of Pain!
To give some context to them, I had a storyarc planned; Early on, Raiden would want the Earthrealm class (the class would have Kang, Lao, Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Stryker and Nightwolf) to be friends and allies in order to survive the matches and save the world. Easier said than done when so many personalities were clashing together. And once they learn about fatalities, the class goes through some mental anguish over having to kill or be killed, Kang being the only one vowing to never kill anyone, to the disbelief of everyone else. Things start looking up once the class starts to trust and respect one another and become stronger fighters.
But Kano, on the behalf of Goro’s Class (Mileena, Kitana, Jade, Baraka, Sheeva, Skarlet, Reptile, Tanya and Kano himself) frames Sonya and Johnny for a crime, leading to Professor Quan Chi to exile them to the “Detention Realm” where his goons, Drahmin and Moloch, deal out the punishments. My idea for them that they’d be bumbling and dim so Johnny and Sonya could escape them, bonding while trying to make it to the final exams. Everyone but Kang and Lao have been defeated and since Sonya and Johnny were late, it’d all be up to them to beat Goro. Once Goro beast Lao half to death, Kang faces his fears and manages to defeat Goro without killing him, but not without making him suffer for all the pain he’s caused.
The class’ reward for passing the exams is an-all expense paid vacation to Edenia, which is basically a hellhole built to Shao Kahn’s pleasure. Here, Kang and Kitana get some alone time to romantically connect to one another during the celebratory feast hosted by Kitana and Mileena’s parents, Shao Kahn and Sindel. But really, the feast is for the Kahns to asses the threat that Raiden’s students hold to their long term plans. And finally, the DCU story is just a fun breather where I have the mid-1990s versions of their heroes (Superman with a mullet, Batman Forever styled Batman and the two Wonder Women, Artemis and Diana, for example).
And after rereading what I had for plots, I noticed how little the Lin Keui featured into the stories since I designed a lot of them for the series. Should try to fix that somehow.
Overall Art Style
As I stated in previous MKA concept art, I based the art style on the look of Steven Universe. I still intend for the project to be written fanfiction, but I do wish to have some elements of it to be drawn by myself. Not a full adaptation but maybe a full page illustration of each chapter, along with the general character/environment sketches, or like the ending credits of The Mandalorian series.
But back to the art style, I wish to change it. I can’t really go further on the style of Steven Universe if this story is going to be about such heavy violence and gore. It wouldn’t really look right, might cross over into unintentional hilarity or into the uncanny valley. I’m looking at something like the artist One, the man behind One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 whose style is really unique, fast, sketchy and frenetic, all attributes I think will work well. I also love the anime aesthetic of the 1990s so that’s definitely a goal to achieve since I’m setting the story in 1995.
Story Ideas To Keep
* Koins: My idea for an in-canon reason for the koins you win in matches (at least in Mks 9-11, IDK how far back they go) to unlock Krypt stuff will be used as a way for the students to buy things like food, clothing and resurrections due to being killed by another student’s fatalities since its primarily a learning facility instead of a battlefield. Though if you’re broke, you’re not gonna be saved. Koins, like in the games, will be given for performing a fatality and a moral choice comes up when you think “do I do good and be paid less, or do something terrible but get more chances of being resurrected if I die?”
*Profiles: I’ve got to do some rewrites for the characters. Nothing too too major since I do like a lot of what I wrote, but its more to streamline it to fit in the new direction I’m doing. Like, having Sonya, Jax and Stryker being Hall Monitors, I don’t think something like that is gonna be part of my story since I’m trying to take it a tad more seriously. The idea of Detention Realm and having Dharmin and Moloch as lovable henchmen is still canon, as far as I’m concerned. Think the two mice henchmen from the film “Flushed Away”. And on a final note, the newly retconned origin for Sindel...that shit isn’t gonna be part of my story.
Overall, whatever backstories that’ll be changed will likely be on a case by case basis. No telling who or what will be changed right now, but I’ve now thought of some parts to start with.
Diversity and Inclusion
This one is probably gonna be one of the hardest to accomplish since I really want to make the series really diverse with body types, genders and sexuality, race, neurodiversity, that type of subject matter. Inclusion is really important to me, and I’m scared how I might screw it up like how Disney, JK Rowling, SNL, Simpsons, Big Mouth, Voltron so many more screw it all up since they all serve the needs of the capitalist, neoliberal status quo over the voices of the marginalised.
And with that, brings up some more challenges. Will I make so many diverse original characters that they take time away from the canon characters? Should I make more canon MK characters differently diverse?
I'm also planning on having the characters display prejudices and bigotries but I'm scared I'll go in too much of "Bright" territory, if you know what I mean.
Tackling Mature Content
I mean, it goes without saying that the series is going to be full of violence and gore since that’s basically in the DNA of Mortal Kombat in the first place. But there’s much more serious topics I want to try to write. Like the effects of abuse, queer rights, the above themes about diversity and inclusion, the seemingly never ending war and the ideas of the long defeat. Of course, my chapters will be marked with as clear as possible content warnings, those are important.
A Shared Universe
A month ago, I watched a video about Midway trying to recreate the success of Mortal Kombat into other fighting games. The video, “Remember when Midway tried to copy Mortal Kombat?” talked about three would-be franchises of Midway fighting games; Mace: The Dark Age, War Gods and Bio FREAKS. After watching the video and reading about the games, I think it’d be good for lore if they were integrated into my story. Mace and War Gods could be used as part of the backstory of the series. Like the idea of the Earthrealm Kombatants being the descendants of the characters of Mace and War Gods, maybe Raiden was involved with the later, I’m not sure. Bio FREAKS could be latter used if I go into a time travel story. Maybe a mix of the game and the story/characters of Mortal Kombat X. As for Midway’s other successful but overlooked franchise, Killer Instinct, that is probably going to be the most recurring element in the shared universe. UltraTech, the main villains of the series would be the people behind such things as Kano’s cyborg eye, the Lin Keui’s Cyber Initiative and being the rulers of Neo-Amerika in the Bio FREAKS timeline. I also wrote in the profiles of Nightwolf and Sub-Zero that the Killer Instinct universe is linked to my story (one of his divorced parents is dating one of the parents of KI’s Black Eagle and Thunder while Glacius was an alien that helped give Cryomancers their powers).
And on a side note, there is another Midway MK clone called Primal Rage, which I swear I had one of the toys based on it and saw a parody of it on an episode of Dexter’s Laboratory. Its pretty gruesome, its a bunch of savage Kaiju in a post-apocalyptic earth that resembles the stone age. Probably an alternate timeline/dimension if I use it in my series. Who knows, maybe elements of the worlds of Street Fighter and or God of War could make an appearance...
Writing the Damned Thing
Probably the absolute hardest part of this entire thing. I struggle with actually keeping attention to writing since I’m primarily a visual artist and it feels terrible to not even follow through on any idea I have and it just kinda sits and collects dust in my brain. If its sketching and rendering, I can do it. If its writing shit down, I just have executive dysfunction when it comes to it. I never know where to start writing it, how to continue writing it, how to finish it or how to put it all together cohesively.
I can’t do this without at least writing the complete first season, if I do it on a semi-regular basis, nothing is going to be done. Even like, less than a week of non-recurring writing is like a poison to me. I don’t know how, but if I make room for an hour or two of writing a day every day might help me get more prepared for longer writing.
In Conclusion
When will the first chapter be done? I don’t know. When will I start writing? Hopefully as soon as I can. I can try to post updates or work in progresses, but that’s still a pipe dream, in my honest opinion. But I want to make progress in 2020, I need to make a difference and to actually make this coming year worthwhile.

Rules
Some pretty obvious things but for anyone new, there’s just a couple of housekeeping things I’d like to bring up.
Do not talk about actors in any Disney Park project
Do not repost anyone else’s content from any SNS platform
Do not QRT others on Twitter
Do not confuse Disney’s Villains Recruiters with the mobile app Twisted Wonderland (details below)
Please click on the read more for more information and details.
These rules are my own opinion and how I enjoy this fandom, it is all out of courtesy. You are of course welcome to enjoy the content of the blog as you wish, but when interacting with this blog in particular, I ask that everyone respect these rules.
If nothing else, there may be times i do not answer certain questions or present content in a certain way because I myself, adhere to the following when i enjoy the fandom.
These are not things I have been particularly strict on on my side blogs, but as this blog will be focused on Disney, I’d like to establish the following:
Do not mention, allude to or talk about actors/cast members in regards to ANY of Disney’s shows
You may have heard of how all Disney’s Parks prefer to protect the illusion of magic within its parks, meaning its characters exist inside the park and there is not “a person that plays Mickey Mouse” or “someone acting as Snow White”. The same goes for Tokyo’s parks and a good portion of the fandom is actually against speaking of the actors at all (in a public space that is; many people have side accounts or locked accounts where you can follow the actors or discuss them).
As this is a general rule of the fandom, I wish to preserve it on this blog. Please refrain from reblogging/sharing/commenting and adding comments/tags such as “[actor’s name] looks so great as this character” or sharing photos of the actors outside of costume and calling them by their character name. The topic is open to discussion within DMs, private conversations or on locked accounts on networks such as twitter.
Please note that none of the actors in any of TDR’s shows have their roles listed on their portfolio or their online profiles for this very reason. If you do follow the actors, please do not comment about their roles at Disney on their blogs/twitter etc.
Personally, I am OK with DMs with questions or comments about the cast but only in private.
Do not repost content that is not originally yours (photos, fanart, videos etc.) on tumblr or any other social media platform
Fan content including photos and videos you will find on Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr etc should be treated with the same respect as any other fan content. Please do not collect other people’s work and post it on your own blog, even if you credit back to the original source.
Saving photos/videos and sharing them privately with friends is OK!
This goes the same for my own content; all photos and videos I post will be my own. On the occasions that I wish to reference content that is not mine (eg videos of shows I did not record myself), you will find a link to the original material and will view it on the original content creator’s page (this may not be on tumblr).
On Twitter, please do NOT quote-RT Japanese fans and add comments especially if they’re not in Japanese
A vast majority of this fandom is on Twitter so while this does not have so much to do with this blog, I just wanted to put it out there.
Quote-RT’ing (Retweet with comment) in general, is seen as rude within most Japanese fandoms. Of course there are many that do not mind, but it really doesn’t hurt not taking that risk. For this fandom in particular, I ask everyone to remember an original content creator will see your comments in their notifications if you QRT them. While google translate is a thing, many find it off putting to see a comment they cannot read slapped on their own work (also google translate is far from perfect and you don’t want your words to come off incorrectly)
Much like artists that check tags on reblogs on Tumblr, you’ll find a lot of artists and others check out the profiles of people that RT their work so if you RT something and then write “RT IS SO COOL, THIS ARTIST IS A GOD” as a seperate tweet, chances are your praise will not go unheard.
Tokyo DisneySea’s ‘Disney Villains Recruiters’ and the mobile app “Disney’s Twisted Wonderland” are two entirely different projects, please do not confuse them
This gets a bit sticky, so I do apologise.
While many Recruiters fans I know were overjoyed at the announcement of the mobile game, Twisted Wonderland and there have been countless comparisons between the two projects, please note they are entirely unrelated projects that have nothing to do with each other.
The Recruiters can be enjoyed as their own thing and Twisted Wonderland can be enjoyed as its own thing, some fans have said they do not wish to mix the two, and I for one am of a similar opinion. Crossover art and comparisons are fine, but I will not be posting any sort of Twisted Wonderland content here as my main focus is projects within the parks at Tokyo Disney Resort.

The big reveal, the nixed romance, and the noodle worm: What was cut from (and added to) 'Thor: Ragnarok'
Tumblr media
Cate Blanchett in Thor Ragnarok (Photo: Marvel Studios)
Warning: Thor: Ragnarok spoilers abound!
It was early 2016, and Eric Pearson was practically living at the Frank G. Wells Building on the Disney Studios lot in Burbank, camped out in his office until 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning. The screenwriter, who’d risen through the ranks of the Marvel Writer’s Program, was nearing completion on an early draft of a script for Thor: Ragnarok, the threequel currently thundering all over the worldwide box office. (The film just passed the $500 million mark.)
Pearson was nearing the climactic showdown between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the indomitable Asgardian goddess of death, Hela (Cate Blanchett), and the stakes didn’t seem high enough. That’s when the idea struck: What if Hela was actually Thor’s blood relative? Specifically, his sister.
In the comics, Hela is “allegedly” the daughter of Loki, Thor’s shape-shifting, trick-loving brother played by Tom Hiddleston in the movies, and the sorceress Angrboda. But that had never been the plan for the screen treatment. “We had decided that she’s like this ghost of Asgard’s past that’s come back,” Pearson explained to Yahoo Entertainment. “She represents the kind of violent way that they won their kingdom that Odin’s been trying to cover up.”
On one of those late nights, Pearson encountered Brad Winderbaum, VP of production and development at Marvel Studios who himself had climbed company ranks, first as a unit producer on Iron Man 3, then as a co-producer on Ant-Man, and now as an executive producer on Ragnarok. “I was like, ‘We’re getting to this moment, and it just doesn’t have the impact,'” Pearson recalled telling him. “I’m like ‘With all this stuff, she should be Thor’s sister. And that should be the thing that [represents] what it is to rule Asgard, his family, what he’s been told, what he hasn’t been told.'”
Tumblr media

Winderbaum offered Pearson, who had previously contributed rewrites on Ant-Man and worked on various Marvel One Shot shorts but was getting his first go at a full feature, some sage advice. “Brad told me, ‘Don’t tell anyone. Just write it into the script. If we pitch it, it’s so much more likely to get shot down. Just write it into the movie.'”
Pearson initially gave the reveal to the scarred and indifferent Asgardian warrior Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), who told Thor in Hulk’s suite, ‘She’s your sister.’ The script, mythology-busting twist included, then made its way to the desk of Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
Pearson was terrified. “When they did that first read, I was like, ‘Oh man, if they don’t like it, we’re screwed.'”
Obviously, they liked it. “Brad showed me Kevin’s note and [the reveal] was circled with “WHOA!” [spelled out next to it],” Pearson recounted proudly. Eventually the revelation would be delivered via Odin (Anthony Hopkins), the cinematic father of Thor and Hela, because, as Pearson explained, they wanted to make the most out of the Asgardian king’s limited screen time and make Valkyrie’s role in the film less Thor-reliant (more on that below).
In the end, it was well worth the gamble. “I was just so happy that it played out because we were taking a risk,” said Pearson.
Some other notable nuggets from the writing (and rewriting) process Pearson provided:
There was almost a romance subplot with Thor and Valkyrie. When Pearson took over scripting duties from original writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, Thor and Valkyrie had cozied up. “But we didn’t want to start from that place,” Pearson explained. “It was like, let’s give Valkyrie her own story that connects with Thor… and if it makes sense for them to get together, then great. You’ve got two really good-looking people who can fight and who’d probably be [good together] if the story went there, but it just didn’t. It became more about the mutual respect, and also dealing with her PTSD. She’s someone who’s drowning her sorrows in the bottle, and I just thought that was such a cool thing that you don’t often see in these movies: somebody dealing with extreme guilt and shame in a colorful, Taika Waititi[-directed] hilarious background.”
Tumblr media
Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Chris Hemsworth as Thor in Thor: Ragnarok (Photo: Marvel Studios)
As for Valkyrie’s sexuality (Thompson has hinted on Twitter that the character is bisexual and told Rolling Stone there was a scene cut from the film featuring her female partner), Pearson said that Valkyrie’s sexuality was “neither confirmed nor denied in the script,” adding, “but I defer to Tessa. She’s the actor, a great actress, and in that person’s skin.”
There was originally more Hela. Blanchett fans might be bummed to learn there were two additional scenes with her in Pearson’s original draft that they had to lose for time and production. “I always want the villain to be really… not-Disney. I want to give them moments where they’re really massacring or crushing people,” he explained. “And she has that great entrance where she takes everybody out. [Originally it was extended] and they were like, ‘This is a bit repetitive, and we don’t have the days to shoot it.’ There was [also] a scene where she thought they were hiding the sword in the armory, this big fortress. She goes up and the destroyer armor comes out to take her out, and she just rips that thing apart too, just to call back the destroyer armor. And it just felt like an extra beat that we didn’t need. We needed to get Thor pushing back to Asgard as fast as possible.”
Pearson did, however, lobby for one of her most rousing moments. “When they told me Cate Blanchett [was cast], I was like, ‘Guys, don’t you want to see her give a speech? Don’t you want the best in the world to just come in as cool as she is and just tell everyone what she’s going to do?'” he said. “And they’re like, ‘Yeah, you’re probably right.’ And so I got to write a speech for her. And then Taika of course comes in with the brilliant way to take the piss out of it at the end.”
There was a gross food moment that got trashed. For a view into the frustrations of major blockbuster screenwriting, look no further than the tale of the “noodle worm.” As part of “a scene that we f**king rewrote like 10 million times,” very roughly estimated by Pearson, “It was an emotional check-in moment with Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Thor before the finale with Banner eating alien food and trying to be serious. It [looks like] spaghetti, but then he realizes the thing he’s eating is alive on the end.” Ultimately, the “Noodle Worm Scene,” as they called it, was squashed. “I spent so much time on it and it just never made it in. We thought it was this pivotal character moment, and it never had a place. It crushed the momentum.”
Tumblr media
Jeff Goldblum in Thor: Ragnarok (Photo: Marvel Studios)
Jeff Goldblum was in, then out, then back in. Pearson was just getting to the introduction of the Grandmaster, the gaudy and colorful ruler of Sakaar with a taste for gladiator battles, when he got news Marvel was recruiting the Jurassic Park and Independence Day star for the part. And it was a godsend (Goldsend?). Because as the writer put it, “There are so many different ways you can go with that character. He could be a power-hungry monster. Or he’s cool and vindictive. And they’re like, ‘We’re going to Jeff Goldblum.’ And I’m like, ‘Got it.'” Pearson fashioned the role specifically for the verbose, ostentatious actor. “And then at one point they came back and said it’s not going to work out. I’m like, ‘No! Who’s going to do all this now?'”
Thor: Ragnarok is now in theaters. Watch Chris Hemsworth talk about how Taika Waititi added a gratuitous shirtless scene:

Alice Eve
For decades, Typhoid Mary has been one of the most twisted, dangerous, and darkly fascinating women in the Marvel Universe. Typhoid Mary is a sometimes villain, sometimes hero, sometimes sympathetic victim, but wherever this powerful and deadly killer goes, great stories follow. But despite her introduction on Iron Fist Season 2, Typhoid Mary has long been considered one of the top stars of Daredevil’s rogues’ gallery, not Danny Rand's. One can speculate that Alive Eve’s Mary will move from Iron Fist to Daredevil and become a threat to the entire pantheon of Marvel Netflix heroes. If so, there is certainly a great deal of comic book history for Marvel to mine.
Typhoid Mary made her debut in Daredevil #254 (1988) where she was created by Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr. Before we go any further, let’s take a moment to appreciate writer Ann Nocenti. Nocenti not only crafted groundbreaking classic tales in all the comics she worked on, she also had to follow Frank Miller on Daredevil. That would be daunting for any writer much less a woman writer at a time when the industry was even less balanced than it is today. But Nocenti kicked ass and dropped Typhoid Mary on an unsuspecting world, making her mark as one of the all-time great Daredevil writers. You can read her incredible Typhoid Mary stories here.
Typhoid Mary was part of a tradition of ill-advised Daredevil romances. Comic fans have known for years that dating Matt Murdock was a one way ticket to the grave, insanity, villainy, or something worse. Just a few years after Daredevil lost Elektra, he was hooking up with Typhoid Mary, a paid assassin. Needless to say, things got heated. Actually, in sparking a romance with Typhoid Mary, Murdock actually entered into three romantic relationships. Or is it four? Let’s explain...
Mary has dissociative identity disorder, but she’s also a mutant (don’t expect that latter part to show up on TV any time soon, as the Fox/Disney merger is still in progress). Mary’s primary personality does not present with powers, but her other two identities, Typhoid and Bloody Mary, possess telekinesis and pyrokinesis, respectively. Mary is a shy and timid religious woman, Typhoid is a bold adventurer, and Bloody Mary is a spiteful murderer who lives to kill men. And if all this wasn’t confusing enough, Mary has also developed a personality known as Mary Walker who is basically an amalgamation of all three.
So how did Mary become this twisted mass of anguish, pain, and death? Well (as usual), it’s all Daredevil’s fault.
Daredevil first met Typhoid Mary when the disturbed killer replaced Bullseye as Kingpin’s head assassin. Later, Matt Murdock met timid Mary and the two struck up a quick romance. Meanwhile, the Typhoid personality began a romantic entanglement with Wilson Fisk. Umm, wow. If Typhoid Mary arrives on the Daredevil TV series, that season just kinda writes itself, doesn’t it?
Mary came to Kingpin’s attention when she began murdering low level drug dealers in Fisk’s territory. Seeing an opportunity, Wilson Fisk hired Mary to play a deadly game with Daredevil. As Mary, Kingpin’s new assassin seduced Murdock, but as Typhoid, she annoyed Daredevil. And Typhoid Mary was the perfect assassin to foil Daredevil both as a man and as a superhero. Her telekinetic ability allowed Typhoid Mary to befuddle DD’s hyper-senses, and her dissociative identity disorder allowed her to change her appearance, voice, and even her scent.
Mary was born into an abusive home. As a small child, she lashed out at her father, severely burning and injuring him. She was sent away to an institution where she was further abused and experimented on. There, both Mary and Typhoid personas fully emerged. Mary was compliant, but Typhoid was brutal and rebellious, and also ran a constant fever.
So how is Typhoid Mary Matt Murdock’s fault?
Mary ended up as a prostitute (it gets darker, kids) and was present when Daredevil busted into a house of ill repute looking for a mobster known as the Fixer. For those not in the know, the Fixer was responsible for the death of Matt Murdock’s boxer father after the elder Murdock refused to throw a fight. So DD was fighting mad and the fearful ladies of the evening attacked the neophyte superhero to prevent a police raid. During the struggle, Daredevil accidentally punched poor Mary through a window, severely injuring her. This allows Typhoid to take over, as she swore no man would ever harm her again.
Back in the present, Typhoid manipulates a weakened Daredevil and with the help of other members of Daredevil’s rogues (sadly, no Stilt-Man), she tosses him off a bridge. What Typhoid didn’t expect was that Mary truly had fallen for Murdock, finds his broken prostitute punching carcass, and nurses him back to health. From there, Mary slowly begins to suppress Typhoid and briefly was able to thwart the dominance of the evil persona.
Whew, how dark was that?
Sadly, the dominance of Mary did not last and Typhoid Mary returned again and again to bedevil the heroes of the Marvel Universe. One of the earliest non-Daredevil appearances of Typhoid Mary was in Power Pack #53 (1990) because nothing goes together like a superhero team made up of tweens and little kids and an abused ex-prostitute who gets off on burning men. Wheeee!
Related article - Iron Fist Season 2: Who is Davos?
One particularly fascinating appearance of Typhoid Mary was when creator Ann Nocenti brought her twisted creation into the pages of Spider-Man. In The Spectacular Spider-Man #214 (1994), Nocenti and artist James Fry had Mary befriend Mary Jane Watson when the rarely seen Bloody Mary persona came out. Bloody Mary began murdering domestic abusers, but Mary Jane helped Mary gain control and suppress Bloody Mary. And that’s the most Marys you’ll ever see in a comic at one time.
Typhoid Mary also frequently pals around with Deadpool, and yes, it’s disturbing, although ‘ol Wade is very accepting of her mental issues, more so than that jerk Murdock. But for now, let’s talk about when Typhoid Mary was associated with the Avengers.
Wait...what?
In Avengers: The Initiative #4 (2007), writer Dan Slott and artist Stefano Caselli introduced a masked killer by the name of Mutant Zero. This deadly but unstable mutant works for all around government dickbag Henry Peter Gyrich. She is unleashed only for the deadliest of missions and is not at all trusted by her Avengers: Initiative teammates. For newer fans, the Initiative were a bunch of heroes in training, so we’re not talking classic Avengers like Captain America, Iron Man, or Black Widow here, but a bunch of green recruits trained by the US government as a byproduct of Civil War. Gyrich holds Mutant Zero in a bare white chamber called the Zero Room and basically only unleashes her during the direst missions. You probably guessed by now that Mutant Zero was indeed Typhoid Mary. Sadly, the time spent alone in the sparse confines of the Zero Room undid all the progress that Mary made as she began to lose control of her more deadly personas. Typhoid Mary abandoned the Initiative the first chance she got and ended up a powerful force in the Marvel underworld as a troubled killer for hire and a woman you just really want to avoid.
So there you have it, the really dark history of Typhoid Mary, a killer woman with a horrific past that is now coming to spread chaos on Iron Fist Season 2. Hopefully Alice Eve’s Mary will eventually make appearances on the other Netflix shows like Daredevil or Jessica Jones, as she'd be a perfect fit. In truth, Mary would be equally perfect in a Blumhouse film as she would in the MCU, and that's one of the reasons the character has endured for as long as she has.

Thrawn
In 1991, Lucasfilm reignited interest in Star Wars with Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn. This first book of the Extended Universe showcased new adventures of Han, Luke, and Leia as they struggled to keep the New Republic together years after the Battle of Endor as the threat of the Imperial remnants faded. But a new threat lurked in the Unknown Regions, marshaling the Empire’s strength for a vicious counterattack, as the last of the Empire’s Grand Admirals assumed command. A rare alien in command despite the Empire’s human prejudices, Grand Admiral Thrawn was a cunning and cultured grand strategist relying on psychology and cultural scholarship to tailor his war plans to the blind spots of his foes, ruthlessly crushing them without the need of the Force. Here was a new kind of threat to the Star Wars universe, equal in menace to the dark space wizards of the Sith.
Fans eagerly embraced Grand Admiral Thrawn, turning him into perhaps the most popular addition to Star Wars created by the Extended Universe. For fifteen years, Timothy Zahn would return again and again to Grand Admiral Thrawn, exploring his legacy and his past, and providing the linchpin to the explosion of Star Wars books. Thrawn would appear in comics, video games, and even toys.
All this was before the dark times. Before the Disney buyout of Lucasfilm.
Suddenly, Grand Admiral Thrawn, like the rest of the Extended Universe, was packed away and shelved, cleared away so that Disney would have a clean slate for new stories and new directions. Such as the television series Rebels. Keen-eyed watchers began to notice references to the Extended Universe. At first deemed little more than fanservice, these references began to build as the creators incorporated more into Rebels, until, in 2017, Grand Admiral Thrawn returned, first in Rebels, and then in Star Wars: Thrawn, by Timothy Zahn.
With Thrawn’s fate yet to be revealed (at the time of writing, the series finale of Rebels is still days away), Zahn is left to explore his past. And in the current fashion, that means an origin story. From the first contact the Empire made with an exiled alien running roughshod over their patrols, Thrawn covers the rise of Thrawn from Imperial recruit to a fleet admiral days away from his duty station at Lothal–and his first appearance in Rebels. Along with his aide Eli Vanto, a supply officer turned translator, Thrawn maneuvers his way through the unfamiliar Imperial procedures and prejudices, frustrating his supervisors even as he takes an impressive toll on local piracy and rebellion. After disrupting a particularly artful heist, Thrawn learns of the Nightswan, a shadowy planner at the heart of many of the uprisings and gangs Thrawn has put down. Nightswan will be a constant distraction throughout Thrawn’s career, sowing unrest and corruption across the galaxy. He might not be the genius strategist that Thrawn is, but no one else has stymied Thrawn for as long. It’s fun watching Thrawn play out his strategies, never knowing what detail in Vanto’s narration may shroud the closing jaws of the trap.
Unfortunately, there’s a second origin story interspersed with Thrawn’s, that of the future planetary governor of Lothal, Ahrinda Pryce. Like Thrawn, she will be an antagonist in Rebels. Where Thrawn is motivated by power and duty, it is power and revenge that propels Pryce through the Imperial ranks. However, Pryce is never interesting enough to care about the contrast. Part of this is because Thrawn shines far brighter than all but the Emperor on the page. At the same time, she is hampered by the focus in all Rebels prequels, such as Star Wars: A New Dawn. Star Wars novels have traditionally been written on a heroic scale, larger than life. That scruffy looking nerf herder skulking at the back of a scene usually has a story just as grand as the main characters. The Rebels novels, on the other hand, focus on a more intimate, personal level, on people who would otherwise be the faceless masses. There is still heroism and treachery at this scale, unlike in literary realism, just life-sized instead of larger than life. Like most of the Rebels novels, these stories make for compelling science fiction, but are hurt by the heroic expectations of the Star Wars label. Pryce’s journey from exploited businesswoman to exploiting governor pales in comparison to Thrawn’s journey, but then again, so does everything else.
Managing expectation is a challenge when reading Thrawn, especially for Star Wars fans, as nostalgia can overshadow the new. In Heir to the Empire, Thrawn is at the height of his powers, able to navigate the political waters as adroitly as in military matters. Here, he’s still adjusting to the alien culture of the Empire, and has a blind spot to political machinations. Thrawn learns quickly, once the rules of interpersonal engagement are made clear to him. It’s an odd flaw for a strategist who can analyze the art of a species for clues to rout it on the battlefield. Then again, even a genius has to develop his talents. For some, this discrepancy between the two versions can be jarring, but Zahn manages to convey the growth of Thrawn’s skill in a natural progression. After all, it is judgement that turns knowledge into wisdom, and Thrawn in Heir has decades over Disney’s version. And the familiar trappings of the character, from the art collection, the Chimera, and his assassins, are yet to come. For Zahn keeps the broad stokes of Thrawn’s life from the Extended Universe, such as his exile and his mysterious involvement in the Clone Wars, and reworks them to the new continuity of Disney. And he avoids the nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake pandering of The Force Awakens.
Much has been made recently of the missteps of Disney’s Star Wars, both on the silver screen and the Kindle. Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn is not one of them. The book is a little bit of fanservice for Extended Universe fans, an introduction to the villain of the second half of Rebels, and a welcome addition to the growing shelf of science fiction novels featuring the strategist instead of the captain.
Thrawn will return later this year in Star Wars: Thrawn: Alliances.

14 Video Games We Can’t Wait to Play in 2018
With the arrival of consoles like the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One X, as well as long-awaited games such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it’s not an exaggeration to say 2017 was a landmark year for video games. But as the year draws to a close, it’s time to look forward to the games that have been promised for 2018.
From much-anticipated sequels to entirely new productions, here’s a look at what’s coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
[Note: This list only contains new games that have been given a launch window for 2018. Games with unannounced release timeframes have not been included. This list also excludes remakes and ports.]
Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar’s epic Western open-world adventure is finally getting a follow-up in the form of a prequel. The story follows outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, with the vast heartland of America once again serving as the stunning backdrop. Judging by the trailer, there will be plenty of high-energy horseback chases, gunfights, and side missions to please fans of the original. There’s also a new online multiplayer experience.
Release Date: Spring 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One
A Way Out
A Way Out is a story-driven prison break action adventure game with one important twist: You can only play it in split screen co-op mode. That means you must play alongside a friend, whether it be online or on your couch. The game centers on two protagonists, Vincent and Leo, who must team up and learn how to work together in order to escape. But just because the game is co-op doesn’t mean you and your partner will always be on the same page. As shown in the trailer, there are instances in which you’ll both be in different positions in the same situation. The player controlling Vincent, for example, might be in a cutscene while Leo is roaming around the prison.
Release Date: March 23, 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Kingdom Hearts 3
There’s a lot that we don’t know about Kingdom Hearts 3 just yet, but we have learned that Sora, Goofy, and Donald Duck will be visiting completely new worlds. Toy Story, Tangled, and Big Hero 6 are getting their own themed levels in Kingdom Hearts 3, which is launching 13 years after the last numbered sequel arrived in 2005. A trailer shown during Disney’s D23 conference in July included miniature toy-sized versions of Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy battling villains and collaborating with Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the rest of the gang in Andy’s bedroom.
Release Date: 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Metro: Exodus
4A Games’ upcoming first-person shooter — set in a desolate, post-apocalyptic Moscow — looks to be a bleak tale of isolation and despair. Inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky’s best-selling novel Metro 2035, Metro: Exodus is a survival horror game with rabid creatures and monsters hiding at every turn.
Release Date: Fall 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
God of War
It’s been about five years since the last God of War game was released in 2013, and in 2018 Kratos will finally return — this time with his son Atreus. That father-and-son dynamic will seemingly be a crucial part of the game: trailers have shown Kratos teaching his son about the brutal world they live in. The clip also suggests that Atreus may serve as a companion when slaying beasts, as the child’s voice can be heard alerting his father to incoming enemies. The plot takes place after the events of previous games, with Kratos living as a man in the realm of gods.
Release Date: Early 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4
Far Cry 5
Rather than bringing you to exotic locations like the Himalayas, Far Cry 5 takes place right in rural Montana. Your objective lies in taking down The Project at Eden’s Gate, a fanatical and violent death cult. Early previews of the game suggest that many of the franchise’s beloved elements are still present, such as gorgeous terrain and carefully-designed maps conducive to stealth attacks, as well as a polished weapons system.
Release Date: March 27, 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Anthem
Marking a departure for BioWare, the game developer known for story driven franchises like Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Inquisition, comes Anthem, a multiplayer RPG action game. Players in the Anthem universe are known as “freelancers,” a role that involves gearing up in a Javelin exosuit and venturing outside the walled community to explore the unknown. These customizable exosuits give your character superhuman capabilities, and each one has its own particular strengths. One Javelin suit, for example, may have attributes skewed toward strength and power, while another might be more well-rounded. You can play on a team of up to four players.
Release Date: Fall 2018 Platforms: Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC
Marvel’s Spider-Man
Insomniac Games’ upcoming take on Spider-Man puts Peter Parker right at the center of a crime-ridden New York City in Marvel’s universe. The gameplay appears to be reminiscent of Rocksteady Studios’ Batman-themed Arkham franchise, which is to say it seemingly involves a lot of tracking down thugs and cronies and wiping out bosses to keep the city crime-free. Players can expect to face villains like Wilson Fisk, a.k.a Kingpin, and a mysterious group known as The Demons. Familiar characters like Mary Jane Watson and Mile Morales are also part of the story.
Release Date: 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4
Soulcalibur VI
Bandai Namco is adding a new installment to its classic fighting series with the arrival of Soulcalibur VI next year. Mainstays like Sophitia and Mitsurugi will unsurprisingly be present in the game, while a new Reversal Edge battle mechanic makes it possible to score a counter attack against an opponent if timed properly. Like Bandai Namco’s other fighting flagship, Tekken 7, the new Soulcalibur will be rendered in Unreal Engine 4, which means it should boast smoother and more detailed graphics.
Release Date: 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Detroit: Become Human
From the developer behind Beyond Two Souls and Heavy Rain comes a new choose-your-own-adventure drama: Detroit: Become Human. The story follows an android named Kara living with an aggressive and seemingly dangerous father named Todd and his young daughter Alice. The narrative’s outcome largely depends on the actions you take throughout the game: you can choose to run with Alice, stand up to Todd, and obediently carry on with your android duties. As implied near the end of the trailer, each decision leads the story down a path to a different outcome.
Release Date: 2018 Platform: PlayStation 4
Sea of Thieves
This pirate-themed adventure game challenges players with one overarching goal: build up your reputation to become a pirate legend. Whether you’re successful will depend on how you interact with the treasure hunters, merchants, and mages that have set up trading posts in the surrounding world. You and your crew will also encounter other real players throughout the game.
Release Date: March 20 2018 Platforms: Xbox One, PC
Monster Hunter: World
Capcom’s newest installment in the Monster Hunter series brings the action adventure game back to consoles after living on Nintendo’s handhelds in 2015 and 2016. As usual, players will be tasked with slaying ferocious beasts all while using the game’s comprehensive crafting system to create necessary healing items. Scavenging the world around you, particularly after defeating monsters, will be crucial to the game. Based on early previews, Monster Hunter: World seems to be open and accessible enough to make it easy for those who are new to the series to jump right in.
Release Date: January 26 2018 Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (release date still TBA)
Yoshi for Nintendo Switch
Nintendo’s newest Yoshi title is a platforming game with a new art style that mimics the look and feel of a diorama. Based on the trailer it looks like there will also some light puzzle solving, which combined with the game’s new paper-esque aesthetic gives it a LittleBigPlanet feel. For example, it looks like players will have to find special buttons or switches in order to flip the level around and reveal new areas.
Release Date: 2018 Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Kirby Star Allies
Nintendo and HAL Laboratory’s adorable pink puffball will soon be appearing in a new adventure for the Switch. What makes Kirby Star Allies seem notably different than previous games is that Kirby can recruit enemies to join his side — as the title hints. Gamers can collect up to three enemies by hurling hearts at them, which charms them into joining you as you progress through the level. And, of course, Kirby continues to take on his foe’s special abilities by inhaling them.
Release Date: Spring 2018 Platform: Nintendo Switch

A fun idea /a question if you want, have you ever thought doing names/personalities of the DVR Hosts? Like, I've seen the most popular backstory of Miss Scatter is she was always isolated by her peers due to her nature and her parents were never there until she was offered a job by Mr V
I have, actually! I was thinking about making pages for them after a break on the subject.
A problem I might have, though, is that the recruiters themselves were much, MUCH easier to write about than the hosts. I'll need to think a bit harder for them, plus I want to bring fresh ideas to the table.
But I've definitely added this to my to-do list! Once I'm done fixing and adding to the first few pages (A.K.A. Apple, Jack, Malfie, etc.), I'll start on Mr. V.
Thank you for your question! 💗💗

Disney Villain Recruiters Personalities: Part 8
Tumblr media
The damsel of dings! The canary of clings and clangs! The bell of the ball! !
Introducing: Veil!
For those of you who don't know, the Disney Villain Recruiters was a Tokyo Disneyland-only show held every Halloween. Basically, the minions of famous Disney villains come to our world to try and tempt us to join their villain bosses.
Warning: This particular Personality Page will include descriptions and themes of the corrupt church and bigotry seen in the Hunchback of Notre Dame movie/novel. If you are not comfortable with this, please heed this warning.
Veil 🔔
As the humanoid incarnation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame's greatest symbol, Veil was employed by Claude Frollo, to spread the word of God and keep her master in power.
Now, as for her backstory, unlike most of the recruiters who were either created through magic or born an animal, I believe it would be best for Veil to have been a simple human, rather than the bell coming to life. However, unlike Quasimodo, who was taken in and raised as a baby and was subsequently conditioned by Frollo, similar to a few other recruiters, Veil's backstory involves her own family.
Veil grew up very poor, living in a small house with her mother and father. Both of her parents were cruel, harsh, and clearly unfit to care for a child, but the only reason why they chose to have one was to use Veil for the sole purpose of child labor. At a young age, Veil was expected to do her part: cooking, cleaning, and being the target of her parents' frustration and anger throughout the day.
With no one to turn to, Veil found solace in the church, praying every day for the Lord to grant her the strength to keep going. Eventually, Frollo is introduced to her after a few kind-hearted members of the church take pity on her and call upon Archdeacon for help. Frollo, under moral obligation, takes the young girl in as his pupil.
Veil has been described as an almost "mysterious" figure by the three hosts of the show. A woman who is both sophisticated and quiet, yet loud, proud, and displays a lack of understanding or regard for, at least some, social cues. As a member of the church choir, she's displays her talent every chance she gets, much to the dismay of most of the recruiters.
Despite her "odd" behavior, she displays a cheerful disposition regarding her work as a recruiter, only outdone by Pretty Scar. Like the rest of the coworkers, she heavily disliked all of them in some way at first, especially with the way most of them would react negatively to her voice. Veil was not very social when they all first met, viewing most of them as "unworthy in God's eyes." However, she realizes how precious they are to her, even the ones she sees as rivals on the stage, and how hypocritical she was acting, as though she was somehow better than all of them. She can puff out like a peacock all she wants, but in reality, she is still that lost, scared little girl who longs for acceptance from somewhere, anywhere. Veil has friends now, true friends that she could easily call "family," and she will hold onto this family until her last curtain calls.
Monseigneur Claude Frollo: Her master and her father-figure, Veil has worshipped the Minister of Paris for most of her life, and very rarely questioned him, even though she is not as close to him as she wants to be. However, she adore him all the same. In her eyes, anyone who was punished by the Archdeacon of France, in her mind, it was rightfully deserved. After all, he was the proud, devoted enforcer of virtue and justice, how could he possibly commit any sins when it is the will of God? However, she had never really seen his "darker, unholy nature," of which a sadistic, savage beast laid dorment until he could sink his teeth into his victims once again. Veil hadn't seen her master for the delusional, bigoted madman that he was...until she came back from the recruitment program. With fresher eyes and a better understanding of the world, she returns back to her station, by her master, as she always should, and always would be, but it doesn't feel quite right anymore. She was no longer a blind follower, she had evolved, but just enough that she dared to ask Frollo for lesser sentences for the accused sinners; she wasn't strong enough yet. She still believed that her master was a righteous man. That was, until Esmerelda came along and Quasimodo grew stronger as a person. Will Veil see through Frollo's deception as a man of the Lord for what he really is? Or will she forever be a puppet at the hands of the corrupt church? Well, that is only up to her.
Quasimodo: Their relationship is...complicated. They have known each other since they were children, but that does not make them close at all. Due to his appearance and his job as the bell ringer, Quasimodo has hardly interacted with Veil. She was never awful or rude to him, but she was strict and acted coldly around him and other people. She does envy him, however, that he has a closer relationship with her master than she does. And that envy extends to Esmerelda, who has been granted numerous audiences with him. Due to her sheltered upbringing and brainwashing from Frollo, Veil doesn't understand why Quasimodo would betray their father for Esmerelda and his friends. That being said, she also doesn't truly understand why Frollo would want to kill Esmerelda when she hasn't committed any real crimes. Her master wouldn't kill an innocent for no reason! He wouldn't! ...Would he? Veil would feel very torn about this. Should she choose to renounce Frollo as her master and her father in the end, I see her and Quasimodo becoming very close, and together, they would help the town and bring the church to its former glory, where everyone is welcome.
Apple Poison: As the resident father/big brother figure, and one of the eldest among the recruiters, Veil respects Apple's authority for the most part. Occasionally, he may get on her nerves due his constant arguments with Jack Heart, and when he covers his ears when she's singing, but Apple, more often than not, praises her for her singing, which she very much appreciates. And anyone who can keep Jack on his toes, is an ally in Apple's book. They are not very close, but they have a genuine respect and understanding of each other.
Jack Heart: Jack is one of Veil's coworkers who really gets under her skin. They are rivals on the stage, and as much as Veil tries to be patient and humble about it, she equally wants to be seen and recognized for her talent, and Jack, the little mischievous bugger that he is, keeps getting in the way of that! Veil is often frustrated by Jack's antics, even once exclaiming that she "hates Jack more than dogs!" However, they do recognize each other's abilities, which they both reluctantly respect. They learn to tolerate each other more as the months and years go by, then they develop a more teasing, less violent relationship.
Malfie (Malfi): In comparison to Jack, Malfie does not nearly get on her nerves as much, but that's not saying a lot. They aren't "rivals" per se, since they mostly give off "close bickering cousins" energy. The two of them do seem to enjoy each other's company though, as Malfie seems to be one of the first to applaud her singing. And despite numerous instances with Veil knocking the ever-egotistical raven down a peg with the phrase: "Even though you're just Malfie," she appears content being around him. In summary, "close bickering cousins," is definitely the vibe you can expect from this pair.
Eight Foot Joe: According to Veil herself, she's not particularly involved with Joe, nor is she very close to him, but she doesn't hate him. Although she doesn't appreciate the octopus covering his ears every time he hears her sing (It's not his fault, Veil. He's sensitive.) Plus, I'm positive that with all of the mythical beings of the sea, he's had to have encountered sirens before. Moreover, there have been times when Joe lacks the spirit of the season and Veil tugs on his arm to get him to follow directions, much to her slight annoyance. But hey! Joe is one of the more competent members of the group, so she can't complain to much about him.
Mr. Dalmatia: Unfortunately for both Veil and Dalma, Veil has dog allergies, so her bias against the former dalmatian is most likely due to her ailment. That, or the fact that Dalma likes to tease Veil by stealing her bell to play with it. Or his and Jack's pranks against her. Or him constantly going near and bothering her in his dog form when he knows about her allergies... Okay, so maybe there are a few good reasons as to why their relationship is pretty tenuous. But! Like it or not, Veil is a member of Dalmatia's pack, a family that they both care for dearly, and that includes each other. They find a way to tolerate one another as the years go by. For example, Veil's lullabies, if they're quiet enough (again, sensitive ears), put him right to sleep. Give it up for the epitome of a pesky sibling relationship.
Pretty Scar (Mzuri): As stated before with many of the recruiters, Pretty Scar is not the most popular among them, with Veil being no exception. Veil acts distant around the hyena, simply addressing her as "Scar," while the latter refers to her as "Aunt Chillin', Chillin', possibly referring to Veil more cold and standoffish demeanor. So suffice to say, they are not on great terms. However, Mzuri's charm and efforts to get along with Veil, warms the bell ringer's heart. Just a tad. Similar to Dalma, Veil's lullabies are one of the only things that can soothe the savage beast, with her singing reminding Mzuri of the few songs she remembers of her childhood. Again, these two may not be close, but Pretty Scar views Veil as her older sister and a member of her cackle, so she's going to need to get used to it.
Ms. Hades: Another coworker who she views as a respectable authority figure. Veil appears to be on good terms with Ms. Hades, even though the fire maiden often questions Veil's devotion to her master, as Frollo clearly thinks highly of himself as a god-like figure, to which he is not. In her infinite lifetime, Ms. Hades has seen countless mortals fall to the depths of Tartarus for their crimes against humanity, most of which were driven by an uncountable amount of pride; Ms. Hades is simply offering Veil a warning in advance. Other than that, the older of the two helps Veil whenever she can, whether that be in advice, or when Veil struggles with her poses. All in all, they are great friends!
Lady Hock (Hook): Her own partner in crime! Lady H is Veil's best friend and most trusted confidant. The pair are often seen displaying affection for one another: linking arms, hugging, and Hock is Veil's biggest cheerleader when she sings for the crowds, and perhaps even join her! Should Jack and Dalma take their pranking streak too far, these gals are the first to jump on the opportunity to get them back. In a way, Hock inspires Veil, she isn't completely devoted to her captain as she is with her Master Frollo. Through her companionship with Hock and the others, this all may convince Veil to cut ties with Frollo...maybe someday...
Faja (Farja): If Hock is Veil's best friend, then Faja comes at a close second. Despite Faja more annoying and/or troublesome tendencies, including her lack of understanding of magic, her constant fights with Malfie, and her general Iago-like attitude, she and Veil are on surprisingly good terms. Perhaps it was their common goal of impressing their masters and earning a place alongside them that brought them together, maybe it was the opposites attract dynamic they have as one of the loudest and quietest members of the team, but they just...work. Veil may be distant and accidentally sarcastic due to her lack of social skills, but she means well and encourages Faja to do her best. Especially if it's against Malfie. Faja, meanwhile, is as equally supportive and appreciates Veil's patience during her more moody moments or crazy outbursts. What more can I say, they just work!
Overall: In spite of Veil's initial distaste for her colleagues, she finds herself more and more thankful for the friendships she was denied long ago as a child. Her distance towards them was not truly out of disapproval, but out of fear for rejection and her craving closeness of any kind with anyone, but not understanding how or why.
Regardless, she cares for each of them dearly, even if she has a difficult time expressing that to certain recruiters. Their time together and the lessons learned along the way may not be in vain when she inevitably returns. Should Veil overcome her sense of unworthiness, she could move forward and bring honor to the bloodstained church once again when her master meets his well-deserved fate. The question is: Can she surpass that fear?
Author's Note: Thank you all so much for your patience! I know that I promised to finished the ladies in time for Halloween, but shenanigans and a gargantuan amount of essays can reeeaallly slurp up your creative juices. But again, I'm sorry and I appreciate you all waiting. Next up is Lady Hock, and if I'm honest, I'm not quite sure what to do with her backstory yet. But I'll figure it out, I promise that at least!
With that being said, thank you all so much for reading! Have a safe and fantastic day! And I'll see you later! Byeee! 💗
