Given up on your dreams? I read an article and it said that mom’s are significantly less Likely to pursue their passions in life opposed to dad’s who do. Mom’s have you given up all your dreams to raise your children? What happens when they grow up and move off to college? Is then the time to start working on that bucket list? We cannot give up on our dreams in life because, honestly life is way too short. Is there ever a perfect time to do anything? Never!!. Shit will always come up. Stuff will always be going on. There will always be something more important! Those are the lies we tell ourselves and then we wake up 20 years later resenting everyone around us that we sacrificed our own happiness for. The question you need to ask yourself. Has anyone asked me to sacrifice my passions, my chance at designing a life that I want to live? The answer is No. so what are you waiting for? To take that rip of a lifetime when the kids move out, you retire? To pursue that career you always wanted? To start that side business doing something you love? What if you get hit by a bus tomorrow! I love asking this question .🤣 What are your passions? Then what is that step 1 you need to take to pursue them? If you are afraid that is ok. Change is hard but don’t blame others for your inaction. 10 years ago Barbara and I watched the today show in this amazing location at the observatory in Switzerland and said one day we were going to be there. We pursued it and made it happen. Why? Because we wanted to live life not put it on hold. So go conquer your mountain in life and stop waiting for the right time. Is your child your friend or your foe. What do you think they are thinking about you? If you don’t have a friendship with your child they will turn to their peers for this connection and you will lose them. Many parents tell me they need to be a parent first. Nope you are wrong. Sucks to be wrong. Were you friends with your partner before you got together. Got married? Or did you just run to the alter. If you did you are probably divorced now or single. We need to foster a friendship with our children from a very early age. However it is never too late to start. A friendship is built upon love, trust, honor and respect. Those things are earned and not given away so easily. So make them your friend and then the door is wide open for the acceptance of the parenting role and the mutual love will just flow as natural as a running stream. Put the judgement aside. 2 choices. 1 yell all at them and tell them to stop...let me know how that works out for you. 2 have a mature conversation about them and let them know you understand their desire to fit in and experiment with things in life and let them know what boundaries you would like to have around smoking marijuana.
