Tryna mix an old remix I did for someone from a time where everything I wrote was too sonically busy for its own good and I didn't organize any of my tracks in any way and named them all horribly
The Rise of Home Recording: Why More Artists Choose to Record from Home | CeBoz.com
Home recording is becoming more popular among artists who want to produce their own music. Learn about the advantages and challenges of DIY recording, and how technology can help you create studio-quality sound at home.
Photo from last week's Doubtsower DIY drum recording session, where I spent a day and a half at Music Box (Cardiff) tracking for my third LP. The lead up wasn't particularly ideal, as I'd been having some pain in my foot, and had been limping the day before, but luckily it wasn't drumming-related, and it just about stabilised enough in time for the session.
Between setting up, line checking etc, and getting enough decent takes for all the tracks, it was an extremely intense session - first day was 12 hours, with a 15 minute break, and the 2nd half-day was also flat-out - but I enjoyed the experience, and captured everything I could have realistically hoped for.
It was a fairly similar set-up to the previous LP, although on this occasion I fancied trying an overhead change, and opted for ORTF rather than a spaced pair. Also used a reso head on the kick drum rather than keeping it open, and added a 2nd rack tom / double bass pedal.
Neck is still recovering from having the laptop to the side of the drum kit :)
I'm currently working my way through the recordings to comp the best takes - happy with the way things are progressing, and looking forward to sharing once finished!
I quietly, unassumingly, accidentally (!) created an album of demos. I am shocked that I was able to passively create music in 2020, somewhat compulsively, as therapeutic practice. If you have resources or recommendations for self-recording, youtube vids, gear, virtual groups, dm me. I am sharing my music with you, it is h/ear!: @_starcard (My favorite song is even the sun can hurt you, if you're looking for a place to start.) ~:-) plz listen with care, go easy on me, let me know what you think! . . . . . . . . . #soundcloud #soundcloudmusic #guitaristsofinstagram #quarantinemusic #diy #diyrecording #noise #soundcloudartists #soundcloudplaylist #newmusic #pitchfork #spotify #newartist #music (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKrMWGfn_Eo/?igshid=8rldq23sqi0h
Okay. The drums sound pretty good down here. Need maybe a little treatment on the walls behind me. I mean it. Recently I put out a lil EP thing. I don't know how this site works and have no followers but I guess I should push it here too or something.
Other music is in the works, too. Hoping I can finish the other 4 track EP (no remixes on that one) before I die or have to sell everything I own to afford rent or whatever awful things won't stop happening, so uh. Enjoy the fruits of my unnecessary labor

Had a day of work earlier this week, to finish off recording the final guitar parts for my 3rd Doubtsower LP. Practice room / solo DIY recording set up again - tracking with a blasting amp, without a control room, comes with its challenges, but it was a constructive and satisfying day. Was also cool to try some re-amping - looking forward to experimenting more in the future.
My EP is finally out! Recorded in my kitchen back home over Christmas, so you might hear a boiler humming in the background, but nonetheless, take some time to check it out!
