i know its super old news at this point, but i’m just at a loss still.

someone published an article talking about their experience as a survivor of abuse— without mentioning their abuser’s name— and was put through a publicized defamation trial for it. so many people hungrily consumed the coverage like entertainment, not even thinking that maybe it’s fucked up to set a precedent that survivors should have to keep their abuse completely private, or expect to have all of the details of their private life put on trial in front of the entire world.

I've got... a piece I've written halfly. Don't have much time to write, though. I'm currently obsessed with mentor & student dynamics. Especially if it isn't quite working well. What's better than a whumpee trying to please the mentor even if it costs too much? (No, i dont project onto my writing. Yes, well, i sounded like a hypocrite with my last advice.)

I agree the writers have done their relationship a disservice. However, except for the mountain blowup and maybe gut-punch, I disagree Geralt has been unreasonably mean to Jaskier. Most of their encounters occur when Geralt is already (st/dep)ressed/tired then Jaskier comes along to make demands and refuse to take no for an answer. As if Geralt exists to benefit him with no right to any boundaries because he “owes” him. I’d be a little snappy towards that level of entitlement, too.

Hmmm i can understand the perspective though i disagree. first episode, they're just meeting so not super relevant other than jaskier being an annoying lil shit to tag along and they both get kidnapped like idiots.

second episode we see him is the child surprise where jaskier convinces him to be his body guard but all he says to change geralt mind is food, women and wine so it's not like. Like geralt could have said no he's a whole ass witcher i think he can pass if he wants to on guarding the numbskull. like geralt did say no when jaskier said he owed him for the song so i dont think that really counts

3rd ep with him is the djinn where jaskier stumbles in on him searching for a fuckin djinn in a lake like a weirdo and they get into a tiff because geralt hasnt slept in who knows how long and insults jaskiers singing and jaskier being a petty bitch leads to an argument which leads to the djinn debacle so that's just on both of them being idiots

and then in the fourth i think they were travelling together from the start? i dont even remember i think they were though

like jaskier has flaws, he's petty and selfish and mean spirited when he wants to be but i think it's unfair to say he sees geralt as some kind of commodity than a friend. i mean if that were the case he would've sold out geralt rather than endure the torture he did

he admires geralt and idol worships him which certainly would annoy anyone who just wanted some peace and quiet but jaskiers just trying to make the world see geralt the way he see him. but i cant think of a time geralt like. spared a kind word to him you know? obviously he doesn't owe him a friendship but if thats the case then why even let jaskier follow him in the first place, it doesn't make sense from a writing perspective to me
