I love me some eldritch, incomprehensible ghost speak in fics, but in my heart ghost speak sounds like a theremin being played.
Like, it's one of those instruments that can sound so much *like* a human voice, and sound nothing like one all in the same song. It can make kind of chipping noises, it can make some truly horrifying sounds. It can be beautiful, it can be creepy, it's peak ghost speak to me
(Also just love the idea of people playing the theremin at ghosts to join the ghost speak convo being like the meme of when people meow to their cats, but like are saying "taxes" or "ketchup" in response to "hi" lol)
Anyway please juat imagine Danny & the other ghosts sounding like this while they talk/fight:

when he's really tired, danny sometimes slips up and starts talking in ghost speak. the only ones who can understand him when he gets like this are tucker, sam, and jazz (because they're Liminal). of course, none of them realize this until danny slips up in public
Tucker hated English. The whole language was a confusing, contradictory mess. Honestly, the world would be a much better place if everyone just stopped talking and writing and only communicated using Timerio, preferably with several screens between them.
The blank word document stared back at him, mockingly. The sounds of his classmates typing away at their own projects – typing, normally his favorite sound in the world, how dare the project turn it against him! – filled the room. The clock in the corner of his screen told him they had twenty more minutes left in class; twenty more minutes until lunch, where he could at least enlist Sam’s help.
He wished she shared this period with him and Danny, but she was taking AP Lit this year. Tucker glanced over at his other best friend. His best friend, who was staring off into space, not even bothering to pretend to be focusing on the assignment.
Glancing up to make sure Mr. Lancer wasn’t looking, he risked asking, “Hey Danny, what are the odds of a ghost attack happening in the next thirty-five seconds or so?”
Danny barely moved, but Tucker watched him squint, like he was trying to read something far off and blurry.
“Pretty unlikely. Unless we’re still counting blob ghosts as threats.”
Somewhere in the background, the sound of typing stopped.
Tucker hummed, “yeah, that’s about what I figured.” That was ghosts for you, never there when you needed them, never gone when you didn’t. “What if you, ya know,” Tucker raised his eyebrows repeatedly, staring intently at his best friend.
“no.”
“Aw, come on!”
Danny rolled his eyes, leaning back into his chair. “Dude, if I attacked the school just to get out of the last quarter of English, I’d never hear the end of it from Sam and Jazz.”
Tucker opened his mouth, about to present the very reasonable argument that what Sam and Jazz didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them, when he felt someone tap his shoulder. Turning around in his seat, he met the wide, terrified eyes of Star. She was glancing between Tucker and Danny, face pale.
“Um, I don’t mean to be rude, but uh…” Her voice trailed off, and in the pause Tucker was suddenly aware of how quiet the room had become.
Glancing around, he saw that everyone – including Lancer – was staring at him and Danny with varying levels of confusion and fear. Tucker considered himself to be pretty smart in most areas, maybe even a genius when it came to tech. But it didn’t take a genius to figure out that he’d missed something important.
Danny, the absolute dick, had slumped forward onto his desk. He was out cold. Dead to the world, and definitely not available for backup.
Kwan cleared his throat, and Tucker saw that his face was ashen.
“What are you two fucking talking about?”

Danny not fearing the joker in the slightest, he looks that man in the eye and gives him the meanest and most unimpressed look he knows (copied from paulina)
The joker really tries to make this kid fear him, because he can't just kill him like this, no, that would mean admitting defeat
(He would be losing a bet)
But nothing works, nothing
The entirety of gotham is just watching this exchange, the joker has slowly stopped focusing on gotham itself and focuses all his attacks on this guy
The bats have Jason trail the guy whenever the joker is out
Jason meanwhile is slowly falling for Danny, who just told the joker that he looks and smells like a molding eggplant

This has probably been said before, but I like the idea that after pointdexter realized just how badly he screwed up with Danny, he decided to actually make bullying in the school stop.
Because that episode didn’t offer any way out of getting abused for Danny, and I don’t like that.
Go to teachers? Ignored
Ask Dash to stop? Stuffed into a locker
Parents? Go to teachers, who will give a token punishment and ignore it once things blow over.
Powers? A ghost will come kick your ass for your bully.
Leave? The Fenton parents will not close the damn portal, and they picked amity for that reason.
But after Pointdexter wises up?
Dash tries so hard to bully Danny, but he can’t if he’s anywhere near Casper high.
Just dozens of improbable accidents out the ass anytime he tries to get near Danny type stuff.
And this is the case for all the physical bullying that is attempted at Casper from that point forward.
For verbal bullying, Pointdexter finds a way to embarrass or otherwise cow the bully into remorse, or at least silence, without it being traceable to the victim.
All while invisible of course.

What if when ghosts - including Danny - enter that form with a ghostly tail it means they have to consciously be aware of their own physical appearance.
For actual ghosts it's not that big of a deal since most of them already have the disconnection from humanity that comes with death. Many of them have either been dead too long to remember what a human form should properly look like while others just straight up don't care, and for most, it's just subconscious and they don't have to really think about it.
But Danny's a little anxious about it.
On one hand, it means that he gets to play some really great pranks on Sam and Tucker, but on the other hand, it also means that most people end up terrified and starkly reminded that their local superhero is, in fact, just one of the many ghosts that he fights.
But I'm not talking huge differences in appearance - nah, I'm a fan of unnerving, pre-eldritch Danny.
So in the heat of the moment Danny slips up and his arms may appear just a little too long, his teeth a little too sharp, his body distorted just enough to make your hair stand on end. His eyes reflect in the dark and his Lichtenburg scars stand out a little too starkly against his bloodless pallor. His suit loses that hazmat sheen and dulls to a smokey charcoal black, looking far too tight, stretched to its limits against muscle and bone, fused with his skin.
His hands get a little too big and his victorious grin stretches a little too wide across his face.
Sometimes, in the heat of battle, if you get a little too close, you can see something reminiscent of burn scars crawling up his neck and across his jaw, wrinkling his lips and creeping higher with his anger. The flesh, web-like and raised, but just as colourless as his complexion. Scars that only those who'd been saved and clutched tight in Phantom's arms have ever claimed to see.
But only sometimes.
Most of the time Phantom isn't even scary in the traditional sense - just the extreme Uncanny Valley sense. Most of the time Phantom is sarcastic and quick-witted and almost charming. Most of the time.
Nowadays Danny's got a better grip on it. It doesn't happen often.
But when it does, the Fenton's claim that it's proof of Phantom's deceit, hiding his sinister nature and deceiving Amity Park. It's something his parents never fail to use to try and prove just how inhuman he really is.

Ectoberhaunt 2023. Day 5. Hunt and Haunt.
~Well, here we go again, good old Ghost Hunger AU~
Description: The Ghost Zone is inherently a violent place. You can hunt or be hunted, there is no other options. However, for some reason the Halfa does not understand what is happening. And no one rushes to explain it. NB! ghost cannibalism is mentioned.
Prompt after memes

Suppose there’s a conventional division among ghosts. Some of them are potential predators capable of hunting their own kind, while others are only able to absorb the surrounding energy and therefore build up power more slowly than hunters.
So, predation is used as a method of survival in poor ectoplasm areas of the Ghost Zone, less often as a means of gaining power. Even less often hunters are created.
It is obvious that the appearance of a hunter who is the son of human ghost hunters in a haunting place without stable sources of ectolasm has caused panic in the society of the dead ones. For the newly formed ghost to have ectoblasts, fangs or ghost sense is a rarity and great luck. So the newcomer had everything and more to be a serious threat. An awful danger for the surrounding spirits…Right?
But Danny doesn’t know the specifics of his new biology ectology!
Even though he’s a hunter, he’s never had a ghost hunger. Probably because thanks to his parents he has an amazing ectoplasm concentrator in the basement. Soon everyone understands that the boy does not attack first. Those who return through the portal never report any losses at all. He does not bite or attempt to capture cores of other spirits. At first, the ghosts think it's a trap. Smart enough for a beginner. Not everyone has the tenacity to pretend to be an idiot to get close to them. But the Phantom never feeds on them. He’s…safe?
What’s more, Danny seems to think they’re a threat to the city. Which is fun and weird. Normally, there is no competition for feeding using human emotion. But the owner of the lair did not like the smell of fear in the air. Is this ghost broken?
When the ghosts who visit Amity realize that the halfa does not know that he can hunt them, rather than just guard his territory...Well, it explains a lot. Everyone agrees not to explain the situation to the boy so that the city behind the portal remains a relatively safe haven during the during a "hunting season" and other troubles in the Infinite Realms.
~~~~~
The problem arises when Phantom begins exploring the Ghost Zone. What if the other hunters make the boy stop being a freak?
In addition, more experienced ghosts may well attack the careless halfa. And Amity Park under the control of a more predatory spirit would be a terrible outcome. Most dead ones near the portal are used to the fact that the area before Wisconsin is open to travel and migration without the threat of being eaten.
All rational ghosts try to avoid the territory of hunters. If you can’t defend yourself, there’s too much risk of being a free meal. It’s much safer to settle down with spirits with similar energy levels at door clusters. If the hunter does not purposefully show up at your lair, you will have a much better chance of keeping the afterlife.
Those of the Ancients who have won their position and those of them who were created for it have become accustomed to isolation. Although all the Ancients have lost the need to eat 'cause they have absorbed enough energy, legends about their past are still be nightmares for all spirits. Just because they don’t need to eat other ones doesn’t mean they won’t. It is clear that a weaker hunter can also be hunted. No reason to risk.
Therefore, how freely and fearlessly Phantom communicates with Frostbite, Clockwork or Pandora is puzzling. Does he feel threatened at all? The Ancients find this experience refreshing. Lil communication without fear makes them feel sympathy for this youngling. Danny is always glad of their company. And the boy is not afraid to express his opinion. It is strange but...pleasant?
Their minions from time to time complain that they teach a potential enemy but it is very difficult to see a possible rival in Phantom. Danny is always in trouble. The youngster is silly and careless. Like a wet kitten that can’t even make a threatening hiss. So Ancients, to their own surprise, don't mind helping him. Why isn’t his naivety annoying?
For example, Frostbite’s trying to teach Danny hunting and tracking techniques because he thinks the little cub doesn’t know how to be what he supposed to be. Meanwhile Danny sees his attempts as a course of self-defense that he can use against ghosts who try to infiltrate his city.
~~~~~Bonus~~~~~
Some insufficiently powerful ghosts mimic predators to scare away dangerous spirits and protect themselves. Skulker is quite pleased that he managed to deceive halfa:

Do you ever think about how sacred life must be for Danny?
Danny who interacts with ghosts every single day. Danny who is half ghost himself, but also half human.
I feel like sometimes people forget Danny is also half human.
He knows his rogues. He knows the ghosts of the Ghost Zone. He knows they were alive, at some point, and their lives must have been intense enough or their deaths traumatic enough that their souls decided that one lifetime wasn't enough.
For him, killing has to be the worst possible offense. How dare you strip someone of their life. How dare you cut short someone's time, knowing how scarce it is for humans? And it must be even worse for Danny because he knows not all humans become ghosts. He knows they won't get the second chance he did. He knows their murderers will never truly understand the atrocity and horror of their actions because they haven't seen the things Danny has.
Do you think it keeps him up at night? Do you think he spends hours on news sites, reading about the people whose time has been stolen? Thinking of all these souls that went away before they were due? Do you think he tries to look for them in the Ghost Zone? Do you think he mourns for them when he doesn't?
Do you think it ever makes him think about his own mortality? He's half dead, sure. But he's also half alive and that half can die. Do you think he ever cries himself to sleep, knowing he'll eventually have to go through that again?

Hc that Danny, Jazz, Dan, and Dani all wear old styled nightwear (minus the cute animal slippers) and sometimes, they’ll come out of bed and look like old-timey ghosts (click for clarity)

Me in the shower: imagine if Danny just went and offered Jason a ecto friendly snack and was like;
Danny: You’re not you when you’re hungry.
With Jason just being wtf? Where did this child spawn from???
Danny: Please just eat the snack. You’re making me hungry just from looking at you.
Jason: *accepts the snack but is very concerned and confused.*
Based on that one head cannon/post about how pit rage is caused by hunger.

DP/DC HEADCANNON
Davy Jones danny??
So, somehow (let's just say after the nasty burger incident for example) danny leaves amity and goes to work down the north sea on fishing boats and oil rigs
Because it's a lonely job that has a decent income, it's not like he's going anywhere. Halfa and all
And perks of danny being a ghost so he doenst need to worry about holding his breath underwater, falling overboard, drowning etc etc so he does this for a couple hundred years,
He becomes this sort of ghost of the sea, if you will. Sustaining his obsesion by helping drowned souls back to land or furfill their dying wishes
Even better if he has he's own boat,
And *insert DC character of your choice here* (let's just go with tim or something, for example) is determined to get to the bottom of this ghost pirate, with a crew of undead before he becomes a problem and hurts example
Thats about it, I just like the idea of danny at sea right now. Feel free to expand on this, if love to see what you all think!

Getting kinda tired of ‘liminal’ Amity Park citizens.
Danny and Vlad had to fucking die for ghost powers and now people can get them for having the right zip code? Nah man, that’s lame.
Don’t get me wrong I can understand fandom interest in a town being constantly exposed to an unkown substance, and the longterm effects of said substance exposure. But like maybe the effects were a little more subtle?
What if exposure gave people the power to see and feel the presence of ghosts? The power to feel when something is… wrong.
Like a medium
Unlike anyone who wasn’t from Amity park who would basically see nothing but air and a bunch of people screaming at nothing.
Stay with me
Danny Sam and Tucker are the first people in the series we see interact with ghosts. They are also the first people to be directly exposed to the portal in all its glory. Everyone else’s awareness slowly awakens from there, culminating in Walker’s invasion, when Walker basically exports massive amounts of ectoplasm all over town. Suddenly EVERYONE can see ghosts.
Now that the whole town is coated in a healthy layer of ectoplasm n stuff, even visitors like the GIW can see them if they stay long enough.
But no one outside of town has a freaking clue

Danny’s Core!!! 🌟🪐
Tumblr media
Made my own version of what Danny’s core could look like! Went full galaxy!🌌🪐🌟
Wanted to go for a galaxy effect of Danny having his own space world inside him. I based his main core on the planet Saturn, I can imagine it’s one of his most fav planets plus the ring makes me think of the one that goes around him when he transforms. I also added little planets revolving around the core as fragment extensions to symbolize the people closest to him, the ones most dear to him, part of his whole world! I also added tons of stars, which r also symbolic of the many other people he cares about and looks out for as Phantom🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐🌟🪐
What do u think? How would u imagine what his core would look like? I’d love to know💖

Imagine dannys class going to gotham and they get held hostage by the joker
Only for one of his random classmates, who the joker was holding a gun to, go fucking feral and start smacking the joker around
His goons can't do shit without possibly hurting their boss and eventually the fight becomes more of the joker trying to get this kid to stop biting him
The bats and Danny just are in absolute shock

So you know how in a lot of supernatural movies all the electromagnetic radiation ghosts give off interferes with technology and the what.
I want somebody to do something with this. Specifically, I want Danny to be unable to enter any buildings with automatic doors.
Like, how mad do you think he would get?
Holy shit. How made would Vlad get?!

Small Danny Phantom Headcanon
Being a ghost makes Danny's body pretty flexible and I feel like cat rules apply to him.
Like, as long as he can fit his head through something, his whole body will follow suit. This would apply to his human half too cuz as a ghost he can just become intangible. But imagine Danny casually being a contortionist, not really registering that he's not supposed to be able to fit inside of a bookbag like that.
