On the Topic of: DREAMSEXUAL

Background Info/Short Summary: true dreamsexuals are valid. however, some fans of Dream, the popular minecraft youtuber, have taken the label and reinvented it. it is important to note that many dreamsexuals (in relation to the youtuber) are trolling, and do not actually identify in this way.

The Official & Valid Definition: “Dreamsexual, also known as Sognaresexual and Yumesexual is when someone only feels sexual attraction during dreams, but rarely or never feels sexual attraction when awake. It is a subset of asexual, and the aromantic counterpart is dreamromantic, or sognareromantic.”*

The Unofficial & Invalid Definition: unfortunately, i could not find an official definition for the invalid version (in relation to the youtuber). although, to my understanding, this version of dreamsexual is an attraction to the youtuber Dream and his content.

Why this is Invalid: an attraction to a singular person and their content does not define an entire sexuality. this is simply the attraction to a person, which is something many people experience, and is not a sexuality.

Additional Trivia:

• dreamsexual is not the only identity within the dream umbrella! all official dream orientations i found are: dreamsexual, dreamgender †, dreamcoric ‡, dreamic- §. there are some that have “dream” in the title that i did not include in this list because they are not in relation to dreams.

Anyone else have O from Fire blocked? Not only do I hate Dream (mcyt) stans but they also turned that racist mf into a.....gender identity and sexuality? Their dreamsexual/dreamgender flag and bio rubs me the wrong way and I'm all for neopronouns but this aint it. Also before any fandom moms or dream/mcyt weirdos come after this post, just so you know I never interact with these fans and I see this user often in other threads :)
