Jamie heard the slight ring of jealousy in her words, and it made him grin. At least he wasn’t the only one feeling territorial.

“Perhaps,” he conceded modestly. “But my father always told me no’ to lie with a woman unless I was ready and willin’ to marry her. Only takes once to get a lass wi’ child, ken. And I never met a woman I couldna bear to walk away from… until you.”

The sun was setting. The last rays of light shone through a blue glass flagon that stood on the table, streaking the wall with a shaft of brilliant lapis. I felt as fragile and as brilliant as the glass, as though I would shatter with a touch, and fall in glittering fragments to the floor. If I had meant to spare either Jamie's emotions or my own, it seemed I was very much too late.I couldn't speak, but held out my right hand to him, fingers trembling. The ring slipped cool and bright over my knuckle and rested snug at the base of my finger—a good fit. Jamie held my hand a moment, looking at it, then suddenly pressed my knuckles hard against his mouth. He raised his head, and I saw his face for an instant, fierce and urgent, before he pulled me roughly onto his lap.He held me hard against him then, without speaking, and I could feel the pulsebeat in his throat, hammering like my own. His hands went to my bare shoulders, and he held me slightly away, so that I was looking upward into his face. His hands were large and very warm, and I felt slightly dizzy.

"I want ye, Claire," he said, sounding choked. He paused a moment, as though unsure what to say next. "I want ye so much—I can scarcely breathe. Will—" He swallowed, then cleared his throat. "Will ye have me?"By now I had found my voice. It squeaked and wobbled, but it worked."Yes," I said. "Yes, I'll have you.""I think…" he began, then stopped. He fumbled loose the buckle of his kilt, but then looked up at me, bunching his hands at his sides. He spoke with difficulty, controlling something so powerful that his hands shook with the effort. "I'll not… I can't… Claire, I canna be gentle about it."I had time only to nod once, in acknowledgment or permission,before he bore me back before him, his weight pinning me to the bed.He did not pause to undress further. I could smell the road dust in his shirt, and taste the sun and sweat of travel on his skin. He held me, arms outstretched, wrists pinioned. One hand brushed the wall, and I felt the tiny scrape of one wedding ring chiming against the stone. One ring for each hand, one silver, one gold. And the thin metal suddenly heavy as the bonds of matrimony, as though the rings were tiny shackles, fastening me spread-eagled to the bed, stretched forever between two poles, held in bondage like Prometheus on his lonely rock, divided love the vulture that tore at my heart.

For pete's sake, we have to wait until november until the second part of season 7?! They can't blame covid or the strike. Both parts were filmed before the strike happened and we got a full trailer for 7b in august, and it's also a UK production, the strike was a Hollywood thing. Every other show who was actually affected by the strike is up and running. They were delayed by a couple of months, NOT ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF. This is bs. I don't even know with this show anymore. I'm a book reader so i'll still be on track with the story and the characters that i love so much if i choose to stop watching because this is really throwing me off.

Just getting around to watching season 7 of Outlander, and OH MY WORD WHO ALLOWED A GHOST TO SING THE MAIN TITLE.

It's not even a cool ghost.

I didn't like the season 6 theme either, with the dead-sounding man, but THIS IS SO MUCH WORSE.

It's INFINITELY WORSE.

187 People responded to the survey 95% of which were women. There were 6 only nonbinary/agender responders and 3 men.

“And the fact that ye have a soul bond wouldna stay their hand? Surely they wouldn’t expect ye to keep such secrets from a spouse or… soulmate. I thought ye said it was considered sacred. Would they really take ye away from me?” he demanded, his voice cracking slightly.

My breath caught at the naked fear I could see in his eyes and feel in his magic, and I’d have given anything in that moment to be able to answer differently.

“Under normal circumstances, with no time travel involved, a spouse would be permitted to know. But if they discovered the time travel as well and knew the bond wasn’t sealed… Yes, they might,” I admitted reluctantly.

“Sealed? What does that mean?”

My tongue seemed to tie itself in a knot as I stared hard at the brooch that secured his plaid, but he gently touched my chin and guided it upward again.

“Sealing the bond would require marriage and… consummation.”

To my surprise, most of the tension drained out of his face, and his answering smile was one of relief.

“That’s all?”
