Another game! What if I took Mountain Hike and made it Dark Souls? I asked myself recently. The answer is Hollow Hike, a one-page zine game about an immortal undead, destined to die and revive again and again, and eventually defeat the mighty Ashen Lords of a desolate gothic fantasy world. Playable solo or duet (1 player 1 GM). Folds up into a little pocket-sized zine and includes character sheet and realm sheet inserts. Submitted to UnknownDungeon's One Page RPG Jam 2024, and PWYW on itch.io. Please take a look and let me know what you think!

The Tether Journal
Tumblr media
We are so happy to announce that we will be releasing The Tether Journal: a custom-built journal for playing the fantastic game Tether, by Adam Baffoni. With a muted, but hauntingly beautiful gold foiled cover, the journal will look great in use and when displayed on your shelf afterward.
The journal itself is finished, and we have submitted the file to our printer to verify everything is in order for both printing and foiling. Once we get the OK, it’s off to the presses!
The two player game has you write in a journal – The Tether – to allow two people to communicate between time and uncover the sinister mysteries of a small town. Send the book back and forth between you and your friend, and when the game is complete, you will have a beautiful and unique artifact of your play through. A story that both of you wrote together through the entries.
But not only are we releasing the journal, we have worked with Adam to get our hands on physical copies of the game, and will bundle the journal with it!
This is a new direction for Pandion Games and one that I am personally excited to work on. I have always had a passion for building player accessories and in-game artifacts of play, and this is our first step of working with another creator to provide a unique player accessory.Document not just the game, but who played it, and when. The Journal contains places for each piece of worldbuilding and character creation, along with each journal entry.
I think, especially for solo and duet games, having themed and setting appropriate accessories make all the difference, and let you not just create a story, but a lasting memento.
Tumblr media
The back and front cover of the journal. The yellow pieces will get a gold foil treatment in print. The journal will also be available digitally.
Just the Beginning
In addition to The Tether Journal, we are also working on an Investigative Report journal designed for playing any of the Hints and Hijinx mysteries that have been released. If the Tether Journal does well, we will work to make those and other themed accessories for playing solo and duet games available in our store.

Clever Girl Review - Wretched & Together With A Raptor
You probably know the story – a theme park where things go horribly awry, but instead of an accident on a ride or something there are real dinosaurs on the loose and they’re eating everyone. There is a solitary survivor, holed up in the park’s control center, trying to figure out how they’re going to survive and get off of the island. There is also, however, a raptor leading a pack of their…

Hey there, big fun of your recommendations so far! I have a request to make if that's alright:
I have recently come across Godkiller, which introduced me to the concept of duet games, as in, games specifically designed for a one player one GM dynamic. I'm aware that almost any ttrpg can be played as a duet, but do you have any more examples of games designed with that play style in mind?
Thank you!
THEME: Duet Games
Hello friend, so I'm going to link my Duet Games tag for you t peruse at your leisure, before I add more games to this list. Some of the games here might allow for more than two players, but I hope this plus the tag gives you enough options to look through!

Godspark, by M.Allen Hall.
Godspark is a tabletop adventure game for one or two players. You will explore Ruina Dei, a graveyard of the gods, searching the bodies of fallen deities for the godsparks (fragments of divine power) that allow you to stay alive. With enough godsparks, you can perform miracles, the magics of Ruina Dei. With enough godsparks, you might be able to Ascend and leave this place forever.
If you liked the vibes of Godkiller, you might also like Godspark - in fact, you might be able to attach the two games in regards to setting, placing Godspark as the sequel to Godkiller! The game uses a deck of playing cards, which I assume help you generate locations or details as you play. The game is also designed to be played solo, so I’m not sure if the two-player mode has both of you play characters, or if it sets up one person to have more of a GM role. If you want a game about resistance against heaven, definitely check out Godspark.
Haunting, by Arcane Atlas Games.
Haunting is a two player game about a sentient House that wants to devour its Occupants.
During play, the players will work together to create their story, documenting the time that the Occupant spends living in the House and telling the tale of how the House will inevitably becomes vacant once more.
The House is waiting…
One of you is the House, angry and unchanging, wanting nothing more than to eat anyone who dares live inside it. One of you is a cast of Occupants, who move in, add to and change the House, and do their best to survive the House as it changes. In between each scene, the two of you switch roles, allowing each of you to set up and react to the decisions and actions of the other. After three scenes, the game ends. Haunting uses drawing as a way to navigate the House and the changes that happen to it. It also includes a list of traits that you can pick from to create your House, as well as rooms, various kinds of occupants, as well as examples of play. If you want a comprehensive, spooky experience, I recommend Haunting.
Conflict of Interest, by barclay travis.
In a line of work that values separation of the mind and the heart, the brains and the brawn, you have found it within yourselves to, perhaps ill-advisedly, merge the two. Not necessarily in the moments where you’ve got a gun in your hand and blood in your mouth, but in the moments between intense violence and adrenaline where you find calm in the company of one another.
This is a GM-less slice-of-life game for two players. You don’t need any materials to play, other than yourself and someone you trust.
Conflict of Interest is a game all about spies and forbidden relationships. Choose from a host of playbooks to describe the kind of spy you are; your relationship to your job is what defines you, and also defines how you relate to your partner. Over the course of a number of scenes, each player will use playbook moves to navigate scene prompts, following their spies through a series of hotel rooms, experiencing the intimate moments in between missions. If you want a chance to role-play through an intimate relationship with someone with the help of focused concepts, you might like this game.
Getting A Clue, by Hewie E.
A 6-page RPG about solving crimes for 2+ people where a coin flip can decide your fate. Form hypotheses, get into shootouts, and figure out who did it in Getting a Clue.
Similar to Godkiller, Getting A Clue requires one person to take on the role of The Commissioner, while the other player(s) take on the role of detectives. Success is determined by flipping a coin, and players determine their special abilities by rolling a d6 twice - once for Brains and once for Brawn. Successfully solving a case makes you more competent, and I suppose the end-game character would be one that had a 6 in both of their traits. The game also comes with worksheets that you can use to keep track of clues and assemble evidence to help you solve the mystery!
Final Broadcast, by grave snail games.
Against all predictions, the sun of your galaxy has just exploded. You have mere minutes—eight minutes and twenty seconds, specifically—before a crash of cosmic radiation boils you into space dust and destroys the galaxy. But you! You are here in a convenient broadcast tower from which you can send a message through a wormhole to places beyond your galaxy. A final transmission, telling the story of a doomed world before it all ends in fire.
FINAL BROADCAST is a very short improvisational storytelling game in which you transmit a final message as the galaxy is consumed by solar flame. It was developed in a week as a submission to the The Queerness and Games Jam.
Final Broadcast works with a larger player count, but also works well for 2 players. The game involves using text from your life as well as from roll tables within the game to compose final messages, and then attempting to say your final messages before your entire galaxy burns. If you want a game that is about desperation, despair, and the last gasps of a group of people being snuffed out, you should definitely check out Final Broadcast.
The Fire Flickers Between You…., by Viditya Voleti.
The Fire Flickers Between You is a game for Two Players for around 40 Minutes, about the bond between a Pilot and Mech, and the last night they'll spend together.
One of you is a highly advanced combat mech, the other is their specialized Pilot. You two are fully in synch from completing missions, training, and spending time together.
Your platoon has lost the battle. You all must flee before enemy reinforcements arrive. The Pilot, however, proposes the two of you will set up a diversion giving the others time to escape.  You both now sit around a campfire, waiting for the enemy to arrive. In these final moments, a conversation strikes up.
This game has players lighting, placing, moving, and putting out candles as you reminisce about your friendship, what it means to sacrifice yourself, and whether or not you're ready to let go of each other.
The Fire Flickers Between You uses the power of candles and and flame to describe the last moments of a duo that has bonded in a unique way; a Pilot who has lived a life full of danger and adventure, and a Mech that has absorbed the Pilot’s memories, but does not have the capacity to understand things like sacrifice or death. If you want an emotional game that allows you to review an entire life in just a few hours, I recommend The Fire Flickers Between You.

TANGLED BLESSINGS GAME JAM
Solo TTRPG posting again for my fellow solo game enjoyers/the solo game curious!
I’ve posted before about Tangled Blessings by @cassimothwin , a project I was so thrilled to back and play (and find in the wild a couple of times 👀). It’s a really engaging solo/duet rpg about being a student at a spooky magical school, and facing off against your rival. Also very cool to know, Tangled Blessings is a hack of the iconic game Anamnesis by @goblinmixtape (a game I mean to post about here one day if I feel I actually have anything interesting to add other than “I love it” lol).
In extremely cool news for amateur/fledgling game writers and those who never find time to participate in NaNoWriMo [meeee], Cassi Mothwin opened up a Tangled Blessings game jam on itch.io !! The game jam is for expansions to /projects inspired by Tangled Blessings. The jam is running until February 29th (leap day swag btw). I think this is such a cool idea to explore a really fun game, and I’m planning on submitting something! If you want to participate and don’t already own it, Cassi has a free preview to get you started!
DISCLAIMER: I am not posting this in any capacity other than as a big fan of Cassi’s work— and to alert my buddies on here who are into this kind of thing and to whom I’ve spoken about Tangled Blessings and solo rpgs in general.
I’ve linked the jam below for the rules and info. I also linked Tangled Blessings and Anamnesis itch.io pages so I hope all the links don’t nerf this post in the tags.
Happy writing y’all!

Oh Gosh I've Released A Lot Of Games This Year & Other Thoughts by Taylor Navarro
We're just over half way through February and I've released two new games, "re-released" a game, and I've been actively promoting my Kickstarter for about a week now. That's a lot of work! So let's elevator pitch my TTRPGs because I'm very proud of them all :D
Chefs de Partie
Tumblr media
Need a breather from your RPG campaign? Make your characters cook together using this cosy one page minigame! (Examples of how to integrate with other TTRPGs included). Grab it on DriveThruRPG for $4.95 (options for 50% and 100% off available).
Constellation Crafting: Chaos Mode
Tumblr media
Someone can't make it to session? Doing some worldbuilding? Want an RP warm up? Make your own zodiac in less than 15 minutes in this chaotic one-page dice-rolling game for 1-9 players! Grab it on itch.io here for $2 (free community copies available).
Dice of Life
Tumblr media
This one-page TTRPG is an emotionally heavy exploration of parenthood, isolation, and the crushing, repetitive nature of too many pulls on your attention. Get it for Pay What You Want on itch.io.
Not Yet
Tumblr media
Not Yet is a romantic duet TTRPG based on the "just missed them" and "right person, wrong time" tropes where you and your partner attempt to defy the odds to meet one another. This will be my first ever Kickstarter (and game with physical copies!) so if you liked the yellow umbrella saga of How I Met Your Mother, please sign up to the pre-launch page so you're notified when crowdfunding goes live!

New Itch Games for April & May
Been quiet on here but I'm back now!
It’s the itch.io round-up of new games! Now coming to you once every two months because that sounds easier. Usual disclaimer: This comes from be browsing itch.io and people self-submitting through the form. I haven’t played these games and mostly am just going by how interesting they sound to me. Okay, let’s go:
Tumblr media
The Hollow Queen: This is a GM-less horror game from Venezuelan designer, Felix Rios, about a dark force haunting the streets and the people trying to uncover it. It uses the diceless Ten Coins system and is available in Spanish.
Contact: A game where you use a music playlist and tarot cards to play through a story about trying to make contact with aliens. I think the idea is that the songs contain encoded messages from the aliens, which is a neat reversal of the Voyager Golden Record. By j strautman.
Tangled Blessings: This is a solo dark fantasy game set in a magic school. It’s a solo/duet game, building on Anamnesis by Sam Leigh. You explore the secrets of this weird school while dealing with a rival who’s making your life difficult. Designed by Cassi Mothwin.
Strike Force Omega: This is LUMEN game about science-fantasy supersoldiers coming back for one last stand, defending their homes in a time of war. By Chris Longhurst, designer of See Issue X and Pigsmoke.
Thirty Foes  (OR Once again, we are defeated): In a similar premise, but much more focused on the drama rather than tactics, this is Seven Samurai but cosmic cowboys. They sling cosmic power and defend against bandits. And they’re probably going to die. From Rat Wave Game House.
Thief and Druid: Two games from Stéphanie Dusablon. Both are solo games with an optional journaling element. Thief uses the Push system and Druid uses the Firelights system. I’m not sure if this is a series that will expand to all the D&D classes but it’s a neat idea.
Skyrealms: This is a fantasy bestiary, setting, and solo adventure game about three floating islands in the misty heights, full of secrets and strange creatures. It’s from Iko and Armanda Haller. You can also use the bestiary as a colouring book apparently!
In The Blind: This is a sci-fi horror game about working class people trying to do their job and instead facing the darkness of space. This is a free preview and showcases how good Riley Daniels, designer of As The Sun Forever Sets, is at visual design.
Queenless: This is another Firelights game from solo game blog, Croaker RPGs. You play as members of the hive, exploring the world and protecting your home from destruction.
When Prophecy Fails: Nick Wedig makes a game about cultists and what happens when their foreseen apocalypse doesn’t happen. I’ll give you a hint: they often get even more radical. Based on the For the Queen. (PWYW)
The Score: Tin Star Games GM-less storygame where you tell a heist movie in 18 minutes using 18 cards.
SDM: Eternal Return Key: Luka Rejec follows up Ultraviolet Grasslands with a full OSR-style rulset and more weird setting. It has the same much-loved psychadelic vibe from the original and there’s a free art-less version as well.
the city begins to exist: A citybuilding game with some solid prompts. I can always use more citybuilding games! Designed by kay w.
