I love a good slice of toasted bread slathered in butter. And nothing beats home made bread for that. I've tinkered around with a few recipes until I tweaked this one up. It's hard to not gobble it up in one sitting. It's easy. No knead. Good ole Dutch oven baked.
Let me know if you've made it and how yours turned out!! Bonus points for pictures!

do you still regularly bake?
Yeh! Like not as much as I used to but I did make some sourdough recently.
I also adopted a “no knead” recipe and I use that a lot too! It asks for all bread flour but I like to sub in some whole wheat or rye.

Just wanted to mention that for the first time, I managed to bake a sourdough loaf, using a starter I made myself from wild yeasts, and at no time did it turn into an inedible brick of hardtack
I didn't have bread flour and used all-purpose, but overall I am very pleased with the outcome. It tasted good too

Bag of frozen meatballs + can of tomato sauce + Worcestershire + mustard + vinegar + brown sugar + oven at 350° = easy dinner. Got the meatballs on sale, half off. I didn’t follow the proportions of seasonings in the recipe and just followed my heart, and added a splash of soy sauce in there too. I think it could be good with some onion powder?
Very tasty with mashed potatoes but I usually don’t go to the trouble. If I’d thought of it, I would have made cornbread with the family recipe which is also incredibly easy to make. I don’t have the buttermilk and am reluctant to curdle regular milk for it though.

Found a dutch oven for like, astoundingly cheap yesterday and was finally able to try baking bread in one ! This is a poppyseed rye that I darkened with some molasses and cocoa powder, mostly out of curiousity (i often use molasses but this is the first time trying cocoa as well. Smelled super nice while baking). I added those after the first rise and didn't do a whole lot of kneading when i did, and it seems to have marbled, if the bit of exposed interior (didn't grease the dutch oven, and that part of the crust stuck) is anything to go by. Definitely overbaked it a little, but super happy with how much oven spring I got.
Also, the jams from last night. Very pretty reds.
