Thinking about how when we first meet Ed and Em, they kinda seemed like petty bullies.
Like, sure Amity was already established as kind of a bitch at this point, but trying to humiliate their younger sister just because they got caught for cutting class still seemed unnecessarily mean.
But like, we hadn't met Odalia yet. "Tattling" on them to her is a whole different story.
It's not like they were gonna get a slap on the wrist. She probably locks them in like, a psychic nightmare world as "time out" or something equally horrific.
And Odalia was absolutely trying to raise Amity to be her "mini me." Ed and Em were basically watching their little sister get dragged down this path of demeaning cruelty.
And while their solution (humiliating her) wouldn't've actually worked, it was actually kinda coming from a good place.
They didn't want her to be less up tight about stuff just to bring her down a level or make their own lives easier.
They didn't want to watch her turn into Odalia.
And sure, they were probably being a little petty with the diary thing, out of resentment from whatever aforementioned Psychic mind prison I can only assume Odalia puts her kids in when they get in trouble.
That's why, once they realized Amity had a crush on Luz, they immediately latched onto that. Because they knew that was another way to help alter the course Odalia was trying to keep her on. And they absolutely realized that they were about to take it too far with the diary thing.
Honestly I think the twins probably harbor some kind of guilt for not standing up for her and Willow. Because that was the first example we get to see of Odalia asserting her will over Amity.
We know the guilt haunted Amity. But like, the twins would've been like, maybe 10-12 when that happened?
And they watched their little sister completely break her best friend's heart, and then turn around and become her school bully.
And idk but that must have really messed with them too. Knowing what their mom is like, and we can only imagine what trauma they had already endured.
Seeing Amity go from a sweet, goofy kid with a deep, meaningful friendship. To a shallow, mean spirited bully who only cares about status must've really felt like they were losing her.
The diary thing would've been like, what 6ish years later? And it feels like it was a last resort, because they could see how she was becoming Odalia, and they thought something Big could knock her off that path.

Day 24 of TOH headcanons until EP 2 comes out
- Camila BEATS THE LIVING SHIT out of Odalia when she first sees her with her chankla (chancla idk?) And then ties her to a chair and lecture's her about what she has done.
And when Odalia disagrees and says that it was worth it Camila SMACKS her with a folding chair🪑
And Ed and Em are beatboxing in the background

Do you think Alador and his kids would have a rough time proving themselves to get to where they are in the time skip?
I can at least see it taking a while for Alador to be able to convince the others to give his device a chance, since he created the Abamatons and was always on a leash with Odalia.
There was quite a bit of damage done because of the family's company, I would imagine a number of people feeling bitter towards them.
In canon? No, because no one seems to have a rough time or any real conflict doing anything unless it's an internal struggle -_-'
In reality? You bet your ass they would. I would imagine Odalia would push everything off on Alador because he was the creator and he may have "forced" her to promote them. Of course, there will be the minority that would speak out for Alador, but the majority would probably still condemn him. Amity and her siblings will get the brunt of it too, being shunned because their father helped a genocidal maniac-
Wait, back up. No, actually, they won't because, in this situation, not everyone is going to submit to the idea that Belos was the one behind the Day of Unity. Blame, for the most part, is going to fall on the rebels who were after Belos. Awful funny how only a few people know what happened during that time and all evidence would have been destroyed by the time Luz and the gang came back so how would they prove this is Belos' doing aside from Word of Mouth? Why did everything go south when the human arrived?
Considering the arm of the Titan is now raised, that could point to the idea that Belos wasn't lying. How farfetched would "Belos possessed the Titan" be? And don't think all of the Coven Heads and Kikimora would come forward to reveal the truth. They may have something to gain to play along with the whole "the rebels or "wild witches" killed Belos". If there is any evidence left over, they would be the ones to hide it.
With that in mind, some will condemn Alador and his family, putting on the guilt pretty hard, while others think he did the right thing and tried to protect the Emperor, no matter how much he protests.
