Ever go along your day and suddenly think that actually we need to give more credit to Edalyn Fucking Clawthorne. Like, she was THE Owl Lady. She was THE most POWERFUL witch on the boiling isles even at middle age. And she received a damn CURSE that ate at her powers and limited her skills SINCE SHE WAS A TEEN. Its been burning through her powers since she was a damn CHILD and it seemed to really only take significant effect decades later. And even at the HEIGHT of the curse, even when it was taking over her entire form, even when it was DRAINING EVERY SINGLE BIT OUT OF HER, she was STILL WINNING AGAINST LILITH; AGAINST THE HEAD OF THE EMPEROR'S COVEN WHO COULD ALSO USE ALL THE MAGIC TYPES, ALSO TOWERED ABOVE OTHER WITCHES IN TERMS OF POWER.

There was a reason why Belos didn't go to fight her himself. He was a bitch but he was a smart bitch and he knew that without the safety net of being related to her(like Lilith being her sister) he'd be a damn sludge on the wall 2 seasons early.

Eda was kicking ass, doing crime and looking good even with a curse that everyone expects would pull her down. She took the chains of her curse and made it her necklace. She kicked cops in the face. She powered through every heartbreak and found people who loved her to bits. Even when her power was finally drained, she got her bombass Harpy form by parenting the shit out of the OwlBeast bc she's just that cool. And even without her powers and forms you say? We'll she's a fucking talented GENIUS, she's literally so smart she's smarter than Lilith despite how chaotic she acts. She's an amazing musician. She's one of theee best potion makers. And again, she's a damn GENIUS in both academics and street smarts. And at the end of it all, she opened up a school and worked to break down the foundations of the very system that shunned her and her people. She made people embraxe individuality all the while teaching them to appreciate the love and support of a family/community. She's building a world, a family that she would have loved to had when she was younger and hurt and confused and alone.

She had a disability and she wore it like a fucking QUEEN and idc how much The Owl House fandom dies down in the future, this woman never went down without a fucking fight ESPECIALLY if it was for the people she loves and she DESERVES the never ending praise.

FULL FIC SYNOPSIS:

Between picking up the pieces in the wake of the Day Of Unity and its aftermath, reconnecting with Raine, helping King come to terms with his newfound identity and being there for Luz as she navigates a life split between the Boiling Isles and Connecticut, Eda Clawthorne has a lot on her plate.

Taking on another, seemingly-impossible project at this point, especially one that seems particularly ill-advised, is probably not the wisest decision. But then, Eda has never been one to take the easy path in life.

And she made a promise.

AKA - The one where Eda takes it upon herself to give The Collector a second chance, and faces the challenges that go along with it.

The thing I am most confused about is time skips, there seems to be something where Caleb and Philip are from their time but in present day Boiling Isles, are they both doing the canon belos method to stay alive until now or is there weird time magic going on?

Ona last thing was I saw a post about Caleb and Luz being related, is Luz a bio Clawthorne in this AU, and the Caleb/Evelyn thing happened before the time skip?

Now as for your questions: There is an explanation for them being so old, it's uh...Philip's fault, he made a deal with collector to keep caleb from being hurt again after the fight and it's resulted in both of them semi being immortal.

Yes, this has consequences on both of them and others within the au, especially given philip did this and never told caleb.

I got a few comics addressing it, it's an emotional roller-coaster.

As for the second, she's an adopted one more accurately, she and king are both adopted.

and yes, caleb and evelyn are, or were, a thing.

The au is part canon divergence au, and it starts diverging basically at the fight, when caleb doesn't die, so the wittebane origin is pretty much the same as canon....or at least my interpretation of it is.

Owl House Finale Headcanons

According to Dana in the Post-Hoot, our headcanons can basically be canon at this point because she's not in charge of the story anymore. Okay, challenge accepted!

First of all, the boiling isles is now a democracy. Led by several powerful witches, but they have to be voted in. So Raine would be partly in charge, probably Darius and Eberwolf, maybe Mason, Hettie, Osran, etc, but definitely not the jerks Adrian and Terra.

Second, although Dana said Hunter and Eda don't know about the Caleb, Evelyn and Clawthorne connection, that doesn't sit right with me. So like my fanfic dictates, eventually they might make a deduction, but not a sure conclusion that Hunter is related to the Clawthornes. Even if they don't for sure recognize the fact, they will eventually come to see Hunter as family and he will have Clawthorne as one of his last names (Until he marries Willow).

Third, Alador instantly starts his work on sigil removal gloves. Several people didn't seem to have one in the epilogue, but it seemed like they were celebrating that kid getting his removed. Alador must have gone through many versions of the unbranding glove, and this one wasn't the one to blow up or something...?

Lastly, some Hexside Head-canons!

lots of more students start taking mixed tracks nearly immediately. I mean, we saw it in the epilogue, but I think as one of the final "screw you"s to Belos, lots of students just start practicing other magics.

The Hexsquad are some of the most popular students at the school, for saving the Boiling Isles and everything.

Gus becomes the reinstated president of the Human Appreciation Society. He has a lot more knowledge to share with the group. Many people in the group keep asking to go the human realm, now that they have a working portal. Before they can even think of going however, Gus grills them with pop quizzes and disguise tutorials to help them fit in with the Human Realm and not stand out too much.

Hunter enrolls into Hexside. Like Luz, he doesn't have a normal way of casting magic (seeing as he has a palisman magic implant), so like Luz he takes a bit of everything. He struggles with some offensive magic, (construction, elemental, etc) but he excels at teleportation. He doesn't cast spell circles that much like Luz. Meanwhile, Luz is happy to have someone in the study course as her.

After some time at the Owl House, Eda realizes Hunter has a dream of carving Palismen. She tells her Dad, and thus he shows him the ropes. He becomes an apprentice to Dell.

Hunter takes some time to carve his own Palisman. He most likely waits until after he's nearly completed his first year of Hexside. After carving Waffles, he no longer struggles, and he's twice as powerful as when he had Flapjack (cause twice the palisman magic, ehhh).

Hunter and Willow become an item a few months after defeating Belos.

For Hunter's last and only two years of Hexside, Willow and Him become Grom King and Queen. Willow's biggest fear is him dying and her being unable to save him. Hunter's biggest fear is Belos returning and attacking everyone he cares about. Hunter and Willow have their own version of the Lumity Grom dance. The last Grom Hunter goes to is where Hunter and Willow share their first lip kiss. (If you haven't noticed, I believe their relationship will be taken slowly.)

Hunter graduates with Honours from Hexside, and takes a full time apprenticeship with Dell instead of going to University. Hunter already knows what he wants to do and this is the best way to achieve it.

Amity also opts out from University after graduating, instead taking a real apprenticeship with Lillith.

Willow also opts out of University, instead pursuing professional Flyer Derby playing.

Gus graduates early, also with honors, and becomes a TA at the University for Wild Magic. He starts an exchange program with the Human Realm and teaches side courses about the Human Realm and it's historical connection with the Demon Realm.

Other Headcanons.

Not that Gus couldn't be Bisexual, but honestly I thought him Matt wouldn't be a thing. I think blushes equal crushes, and Matt and Gus don't blush around each other. Heck, Matt has shown interest in Celine and the little sister "Roka," and Gus has been blushy around Bria, but not Matt.

As for the couples, I'm not sure if Raeda is married in the epilogue or if they eventually get married. They might just be content with living with each other romantically.

Lumity will wait until Luz is finished University until they get married.

Huntlow will probably wait for the marriage until Hunter is near mid 20's.

Lumity and Huntlow will start having kids around the same time.

I thought you read all of Homestuck? Sorry this is not an accusation or anything, I just swear that I remember you saying that... Memory is weird lol. And it's not like I have read it or planning to do so anytime soon, but yea

went on a bit of a rant here oops

i have read all of homestuck and it sucks. sometimes you become older than 14 and understand more about the world and realize this thing you used to think was cool actually sucks in a lot of ways. to be fair though, i did also think parts of it were shit when i was 14, so like. yknow. there were also parts i didn't understand before which i now understand, which makes me hate them, cuz they sucked. mostly the ableism and racism. there was other stuff but i refuse to re-learn anything about homestuck so I guess my other complaints will fade away as i live a life free of homestuck.

coming back to finish it when it ended was a slog but i couldn't stand the idea that I'd read most of this really long thing and had tapped out near the end.

the fans of it can also be a pretty mixed bag. what annoys me isnt normal fandom cringe stuff, but rather that a lot of them don't seem to be able to disconnect homestuck with the common tropes homestuck is pulling from. sometimes it's like homestuck is the first and only piece of literature they've ever actually engaged with meaningfully so they go into other stories and go "this is just like homestuck" because homestuck is so big it's got tropes from fucking everywhere.

someone once called Maureno a Lusus cuz she's a big animal who takes care of a kid, as if being raised by a magic animal isn't one of the most classic tropes out there common in mythology all over the world. it'd be like if every time i saw a mentor and their charge i was like "omg this is literally eda clawthorne" regardless of context or if the dynamic was the same at all. it's funny a few times but after a while it's just obnoxious. at least it is to me.

i'm biased tho since i hate homestuck, i don't usually care about people saying "this is just like my blorbo" about literally anything, ever, but for homestuck it's just slightly annoying. cuz i don't like it.

that being said i have been known to reblog homestuck art from time to time. cuz it's good art. and i don't begrudge people for liking homestuck, i used to like it too.

ALSO I'mma be real that post I made before was a jokey joke. like, drawing the characters as black is some of my favorite fanart. it won't make me enjoy homestuck again but it WILL make me appreciate the black artists who put so much time and thought into their fantastic designs.

ive got so many random boiling isles worldbuilding HCs in my head but i dont have a way to share them besides just random posts. so here's a random post about one of my headcanons.

there's no modern human holidays in the boiling isles (like christmas, passover, halloween, etc.) but there IS holidays that are widely celebrated by witches like samhain, yule, beltane, the equinoxes-- which i know people do actively follow and celebrate nowadays but i mean more of the ancient ways of celebration. like, live animal sacrifices and everything.

i like to think that demons have similar holidays to witches but different names/traditions. like witches have yule, but demons have krampusnacht. and obviously while there is a lot of similarity with how humans celebrated those holidays, there's obviously a creepy/weird/magic spin on them.

like on yule they do an animal sacrifice to the titan and then eat the animal & burn the inedible parts in a magical fire. but the sacrifice maybe isn't just straight forward, and is more like a hunting competition for the whole family where the one who actually kills the animal gets a special prize. like getting the best cut of the meat or getting to open their presents first.

im specifically imagining eda & lilith as girls both throwing everything they have at this beast they're hunting down and eda getting the kill in the end and gloating all smugly at lilith. with all my headcanons i usually default to imagining the clawthornes doing the thing to see if it's something that feels like it fits in with the world.

also samhain im specifically imagining to be like. less of a halloween or dia de la muertos type of holiday, but more of like... where they are appreciative and thankful to the titan for giving them magic by abstaining from using magic for the day or something. like fasting sorta. it's more of a serious holiday in my mind, where you spend it at home with family or you go to grand galas that usually have some type of charity aspect to them. the emperor's coven holds a samhain gala every year and invites mostly only the wealthy & powerful & their biggest supporters (the blights get an invitation every single year, for instance) & also the coven scouts who performed the best that year. usually theres also a charity auction.

krampusnacht for demons i think would be more set in legend & myth than simple tradition or reverence for the titan. it's 100% kings favorite holiday. it's gotta be about the Krampus, a terrifyingly powerful demon who could travel between the human realm and demon realm at will. maybe the krampus lost its powers somehow and got trapped in the human realm? maybe its even believed that the krampus was The First Demon or something. anyways, demons do sacrifices or more specific things to appease or give it strength so it can gather enough power to temporarily come back and give little gifts to all the demon children sleeping soundly in their beds before going back to the human realm to wreak terror on the human children. maybe that part is more like, for the kids, but the sacrificing stuff in krampus's honor is definitely the main point.

i can literally imagine a full owl house episode in my head of luz learning about yule & krampusnacht from eda & king respectively and trying to help both of them with their traditions and rituals and stuff but actually having a really hard time with some of the stuff-- like the hunting & sacrificing parts for sure (she is the daughter of a vet, after all) but like, they always did their best to follow the traditions of her human holidays that she shared even if they were apprehensive at first so she really wants to be active and engage with them and be more open minded. so instead of voicing her discomfort or upset over the more gruesome parts, she tries so hard to go along with it but at the very last second she ends up not being able to do it and takes off.

then luz feels so guilty bcus these traditions are obviously really important to the both of them and they're including her because she's family and she doesnt want them to think she's rejecting them but in the end king and eda are obviously just like "you dingdong you dont have to force yourself to do stuff you're uncomfortable with just to make us happy! we care about you more than any traditions, no matter how badly we want you to do them with us!" and they find ways to adjust their traditions, like instead of killing the beast they just capture it humanely and then let it go, or instead of doing live sacrifices they just get a pre-killed animal from a butcher and do the burning of the inedible parts, all so luz can feel better about participating in them :-)

and for samhain, i bet at first king never really celebrated it bcus he couldnt do magic but always liked getting to spend it with eda and pulling pranks on her bcus even she would abstain from magic for a day (she def does it bcus her dad has always been super into giving thanks to the titan and treats the nature of the isles with a lot of reverence due to his career as a palisman carver-- think about how eda encouraged luz to connect with the isles! her dad 100% did the same stuff with her!!)

after learning about his dad, king probably spends samhain in remembrance. i like to think the first samhain after he finds out about his heritage, luz & eda take him to pick some flowers and luz uses the memory-tweezers to show him what his dad looked like and they make a little shrine for his dad with the photograph at the center and all three of them spend the day together

Putting my writing hat back in the ring!

I went on a hiatus from my writing for nearly a year. But I am finally in a place where I feel comfortable enough to write again! I have many incomplete projects that I still feel passion for, so hopefully I can start posting them soon.

What's to come? None of them have official titles yet, but here is a current word count for them and a small sneak peak of (nearly) each fic! Below will be Danganronpa and The Owl House (including my Human AU). I also have Naruto fanfic ideas, however those have yet been started.

Stardew Valley inspired, Farmer Taka centric - Total words so far: 4.8k

“I’m kind of, like, clairvoyant.” the man shrugged, though Taka highly doubted the statement. “I had a feeling your fate was intertwined with mine the moment you stepped on the bus, dude! I’m Yasuhiro Hagakure, but since we’re going to be neighbors you can call me Hiro. Pleasure, my guy!”

The driver- Hiro, as they had just been introduced, stuck out a hand towards Taka, his eyes were still glued on the road. Taka took it firmly, a smile on his face. “It is lovely to meet your acquaintance, Hiro. My name is Kiyotaka Ishi–” he hesitated, mouth left open like a fish and hand gripping a bit tighter on the other. “Ishido. However, you may refer to me as Kiyotaka.”

“Right on.” Hiro took his hand back, not questioning Taka’s momentary panic. “We should be pulling up to the bus stop soon. I can show you where the mayor is and he’ll take it from there. Chill dude, but real stern.”

“Yes, Kuzuryu. That is quite literally what I told you, disregarding your distasteful words.”

“Now’s not the time to be smart with me, Ishimaru. There’s a baby in your house, and its mother is nowhere to be found. What are you going to do with it?”

Taka huffed and bit his lip, picking at his fingernails. He was making his cuticles bleed, but he could hardly put in the effort to care, “I would appreciate it if you stopped calling her an ‘it’.”

“Ishimaru!” Fuyuhiko stopped his pacing to grab the front of Taka’s shirt, making him look down at the short man, “Stop harping at me! What are you going to do with the Goddamn baby?!”

The Owl House

“No,” Amity crossed her arms, “I’m being honest. Hunter,” her voice got lower, as if trying to keep what she’s about to say a secret, “uses the bathroom in the woods, Willow. Isn’t that gross to you?”

Willow frowned and shifted her eyes towards Vee, as if trying to think about a situation that Amity might know that from. When realization hit her, her eyes creased amusingly, “Amity, all boys pee in the woods. Gus does it all the time, too. I’m pretty sure they’ve gone together before.”

“I used to, too!” Luz announced as she came back, having heard Willow in the hallway, “When you gotta go, you gotta go!”

Luz sat back down next to Amity, who wanted to gag, “You can’t be serious, that’s so disgusting.”

Her girlfriend wrapped an arm around Amity’s shoulder, “I don’t do it anymore, but there’s nothing wrong with Hunter peeing in the woods.”

“Can we stop saying the word pee, please?!”

How Lumity got together, once upon a time - Total words so far: 1.4k

Luz, the ever perfect tattoo apprentice to Eda Clawthorne, a well known (famous, Luz always says, even if it might be infamously so based on her rather anarchist personality) artist all across the coastal county, agreed to watching the Clawthorne-Whispers family dog today so that they could have a grand ol’ time at the carnival.

“I’ll go the second day.” Luz had said, waving off Eda’s question on if Luz would be able to make it. “No big deal! It’ll still be there!”

Well, yes, the carnival will still be there. But Amity would not be.

“Vee.” Luz whined, sitting up on her knees and interlocking her own fingers together to plead with her twin. Vee sighed and put a hand on her hip, cocking her knee out to watch the groveling comfortably. “It’s for love.”

“What about my lovelife?” Vee argued, raising an eyebrow with challenge. “You think Masha’s going to give me another shot if I blow this off a third time?”

The previously teased birthday celebration for Hunter - Total words so far: 2.7k

“Steve sounds cool.” Willow commented, letting Hunter know that she was there, and she was listening to him.

“He was.” Hunter agreed. “I hadn’t seen him in years. I think he moved back home, I don’t know.”

“Have you tried to reach back out?” Willow asked, suppressing the yawn that wanted to leave her mouth. She didn’t want him to see that she was tired, not yet. “What’s his last name? Maybe he has a Facebook.”

Hunter stared at his bedsheets for a few moments, thinking so hard that Willow was sure that there was smoke coming out of his ears that weren't visible through the phone camera. “I… can’t recall.”

“Really?” Willow teased, a smirk spreading across her face, “but you remember everything.”

Hunter didn’t smile back, which felt like a weight on Willow’s stomach. Okay, so this wasn’t a good moment to mess with him. Maybe he was more vulnerable than she thought right now. She wished she could take it back, “I don’t remember a lot from back then.”

Since this was a bigger project, I thought I'd make a behind the scenes post to talk about how it came together, and share some easter eggs!

Firstly, I want to impress how long it took to record and edit this thing. An almost 15 minute long runtime is a MARATHON! It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun and definitely worth it!

Evelyn’s bird drawings are a reference to her book of bird sketches from my fic There Are Owls and Witches in These Woods. Her sketch book has been passed down the generations of the Clawthorne family, and is my explanation for why they all have human realm bird palismen! They use her book for ideas! :D

If you've read my fics, you can consider this story an alternate ending for There are Owls and Witches in These Woods. Everything up to the week in which this journal was written remains the same. There is a divergence when Evelyn decides she needs to protect Caleb by breaking off their friendship. Let’s just say that evening played out very differently. I'll let you guess and imagine for yourself what happened when Evelyn tried to break things off with Caleb. But I will give you this hint: his wish was very important. 😉

It was so cool to watch the cover art come to life! It was only the second time I’ve ever commissioned an artist (and first time commissioning something complicated), and it was such a positive experience! If you need art for something and their commissions are open, I HIGHLY recommend them!

(Also we snuck a few easter eggs into the art ehehehe)

I wanted to do something REALLY cool to sort of…I guess serve as a love letter to The Owl House? This show has been an amazing ride, and I wanted to create something as cool as I could to show my appreciation!

I wanted to show my gratitude to this silly, funny, wonderful, heartwarming show for existing. And to thank it for getting me writing and voice acting again. I am so grateful I decided to sit down and watch it last summer. I was lured in with the promise of witches and magic and owls, and ended up with a story that spoke to me so deeply.
