Been reading Edgar Allan Poe Daily and had a semi-coherent thought
Spencer is a rich, aristocratic man who, while the world outside is dangerous and chaotic in many ways, mostly because of a virus/viruses, hides away in his castle with servants and guards to attend to his every need and protect him, and thinks he's safe and in control of everything, and then Wesker, a dangerous nonhuman whose powers come from the virus, shows up and slaughters everyone (in a gruesome way with blood everywhere), with Spencer still underestimating Wesker and thinking he's safe and in control of the situation until seconds before he is killed.
I do not think this was deliberately The Masque Of The Red Death but my brain has connected them anyway.

Girl, I was super excited about Edgar Allan Poe Daily but I had to unsubscribe after receiving the first email.
I'm sad to say it but my English level (C2) apparently is not feeling Mr Poe :( I feel stupid and sad

I am — that is to say I was — a great man; but I am neither the author of Junius nor the man in the mask; for my name, I believe, is Robert Jones, and I was born somewhere in the city of Fum-Fudge.
You believe? You don't know? Well, I already know this one's going to be a doozy.

Decided to subscribe to Carmilla Weekly and Edgar Allan Poe Daily to go along with Dracula Daily--will need to do some catching up.
Also, am I missing something or has the Frankenstein one just been “coming soon” since May?

I don’t think I’d read this story before, but it’s totally in line with my favourite trend of his which was about the doomed love, doomed because of obsession and inability to live in reality.
