Some photos from a recreation we did a few weeks ago! 🥰 We went ice skating, visited the christmas markets and carrousel, took some photos at the archeological museum and had tea at the Wellington's café!

"Shackles? In a wine cellar?" She stood at the threshold of an open cell door, a hint of amusement glinting in her eyes when she flicked them up to meet his. "Hardly a proper thing to reveal to a lady, your nighttime . . . activities."
"Ah." His mouth curved into a slow grin as he leaned against the iron bars, and when he spoke again his voice had gone rough. "But you're no lady, are you?"

Top ca. 1908 Evening dress by Jays Ltd (V&A). From tumblr.com/frostedmagnolias/733111325324165121? 1125X1375.
Middle ca. 1908 Bodice of evening dress by Jays Ltd (V&A). From tumblr.com/frostedmagnolias/733111325324165121? 1125X1389.
Bottom ca. 1908 Skirt of evening dress by Jays Ltd (V&A). From tumblr.com/frostedmagnolias/733111325324165121? 1125X1378.
The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) notes "The dress is dominated by the boldly embroidered panels imported from Turkey and made up in London. In style this dress is transitional between the pronounced curved shapes of the early 1900s and the straighter lines (with high waists) that had become current by about 1909. There is some evidence that an earlier dress may have been adapted to suit the tastes of 1908. The inside of the bodice has a grosgrain waist stay (grosgrain is a heavily ribbed silk) with the woven label of Jays Ltd, which bears a taffeta ribbon marked 'Lady Pearson', the name of the wearer."

my hot take on Lizzie: the Musical is that the love story becomes infinitely more compelling the more actors/the production lean into Alice's flaws and selfishness rather than presenting her as some fragile little flower who's the voice of reason (tag novel below)
